Team Synopsis: Team Synopsis:

OTE: Team Fanning features a balanced nine-man rotation that figures to be headlined by former 2022 top ten recruit Amen Thompson. The 6-foot-6 guard tore it up at Overtime Elite’s Pro DaY ON OCTOBER 23RD, SHOWCASING SKILLS OF A FUTURE NBA PLAYER THOMPSON WILL have the assistance from three 6-foot-9 big men AND A COUPLE OF ULTRA-ATHELTIC GUARDS. Head coach Tim Fanning brings in plenty of experience after joining Overtime Elite in July of 2021. Fanning spent the past five years coaching at Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague, LEAVING for OTE after winning four straight championships.

THE STARS

Thompson is considered to be a potential lottery pick, and the lack of other primary ball-handlers on the roster indicates that he will operate as the main playmaker in Fanning’s system. Blessed with elite length and athleticism, Thompson is extremely active on the defensive end of the floor, and he has the chance to turn into an elite stopper at the next level. His offensive skill-set is getting better daily, and the only aspect that is noticeably lacking from his game is a consistent jumpshot. That being said, Thompson used the OTE pro day to dispel any negative notions about his jumper, and many left with the takeover of him being one of the best overall prospects on the Overtime Elite roster.

THE BACKCOURT

Thompson - who will be split from his identical twin Ausar - will be joined in the backcourt by 6-foot-5 TJ Clark, 6-foot-4 De’Vontes Cobbs, and 6-foot Johned Walker. Clark, an alumni of the Atlanta XPress, CLARK is known for his defensive acumen, and will be counted on to provide the dirty work for Fanning. Cobbs is known for his jaw-dropping athleticism, so it will be interesting to see how the OTE coaching staff refines his game AND TAPS INTO HIS POTENTIAL. Either way, COBBS brings similar energy to the table as Clark, and will be a menace defensively. Walker was a late signing to OTE but had a strong pro day and should play minutes off the bench. 6-foot-5 Francis “LeBron” Lopez IS CURRENTLY ON THE ROSTER BUT HAS YET TO MAKE HIS WAY TO THE STATES. Lopez is a highly-sought after international recruit and it will be exciting to follow his progression AFTER HIS ARRIVES.

THE FRONTCOURT

There is a lot to like about Fanning’s frontcourt, starting with 5-star forward prospect Matt Bewley. The 6-foot-9 Bewley - also an identical twin TO BROTHER MATT - BEWLEY is starting to tap into his massive potential, and turning pro should do wonders for his overall development. Bewley is long and athletic, and offers up a unique level of versatility on the defensive end. Tyler Smith, a former member of the 2023 graduating class, gives Fanning another 5-star potential-lottery pick. Smith - a lefty with evolving perimeter skills - should see his development speed up under the OTE coaching staff. 2005-born Izan Almansa - a highly-touted prospect from Real Madrid Cadete of the Spanish league - will see major minutes in Fanning’s rotation, as will 6-foot-9 forward Kok Yat - who had a huge day at OTE’s pro day. The frontcourt goes five deep, and it will be interesting to see how they do on the boards as the majority of their forwards are perimeter-oriented.
