NEW TOMMY BAHAMA LINE MAKES A SPLASH IN VEGAS LAS VEGAS, NV
T
herapedic International made a big splash with dealers during this past Las Vegas Summer Market with the release of a new Tommy Bahama® line, and a new specialty foam line named Buoyancy®. Eight new Tommy Bahama models were on display featuring new covers, new foam packages, and a new proprietary feature called iFlex®. iFlex claims to be the world’s first hybrid quilt. A layer of mini-pocketed coils are incorporated in the quilt and held together at the surface within the flange. The design is exclusive and patent-pending.
Weinman said he had a $799 choice-of model that he chose not to show in Vegas. “That is something we have if we should need it,” he said. The Tommy Bahama design teams in New York and Seattle contributed to the product’s cosmetics. “We are fortunate to have a supportive brand partner in Tommy Bahama,” said Susan Mathes, VP of brand relations for Therapedic International. “Although Adam did the majority of the design and specification work on this line, TB corporate contributed to the final outcome. This line was a team effort,” she said. Also previewed at this past Vegas Market was a new specialty foam line, named Buoyancy. The Buoyancy line featured three models: a 12-inch model, a 13-inch plush model, and a 14-inch luxury plush model. This line was comprised of a series of foam combinations, topping off with copper-infused gel memory foam. The storied benefits of the copper gel are increased blood circulation, anti-microbial benefits, and anti-viral properties. The cover featured a Bekaert knit with a varying blue chorded welt on a zipper cover that was sewn by PPI in California.

“This is something we have been working on for quite a while,” said Adam Weinman, president of Therapedic/ Florida, who is the architect of the new Tommy line. “iFlex in the cover adds support, increased airflow, added durability, and virtually eliminates body impressions,” he said. The dealers who saw this line liked it, said Weinman. In Vegas the line started at $999 and went up to $1,999. But,
The product was designed to be a “limited market” product line, according to Gerry Borreggine, Therapedic International president/CEO. “This is not a product line we intend to sell across all territories,” said Borreggine. “We view it as an ‘exclusive dealer’ product line that will be offered to a limited number of dealers,” he said. It is intended to start at $1,299 to $1,999, and to top out at $1,999 to $2,999. The dealer will determine the price points, said Borreggine. Both product lines will be featured at the upcoming High Point Fall Market in October, based on the initial reaction of the dealers in Las Vegas, said Borreggine.
