Quality garments are designed to last longer, fit better, and make a statement without saying a word. April approaches fast and tax season brings headaches for many. For investors, optimizing returns becomes urgent. How you manage your investment portfolio is your choice. But consider this: though bookkeepers don’t manage investments directly, a dependable bookkeeper helps you make smarter financial decisions. How?
Organized books provide a clear picture of financial health, essential for informed investment choices. Disorganized records during tax season can lead to missed deductions, murky cash flow, and unclear profit margins—costly oversights.
Working with a dependable bookkeeper ensures financials are precise, offering a reliable overview of available resources. This financial clarity helps investors determine how much can be confidently allocated to stocks, real estate, or other opportunities.
During tax time, bookkeepers streamline documentation and collaborate with accountants to maximize deductions and credits, freeing up funds for reinvestment. Beyond taxes, bookkeepers monitor income and ex-
penses year-round, providing real-time insights.
Eyeing portfolio diversification? Detailed reports show what’s possible.
Facing an audit? Accurate records keep everything shipshape.
Investors with complex holdings—rental properties, side hustles, or dividends—reap the biggest rewards. Bookkeepers untangle the mess, freeing focus for wealth growth.
This investment season don’t miss the power of precision. A good bookkeeper keeps financial foundations solid, paving the way for profitable decisions.
Connect with one today—smart investments begin with better books.

What is a Private Foundation, and is It the Right Fit for Your
By Roger Estrada
A private foundation is a tax-exempt §501(c)(3) charitable organization that doesn’t meet the IRS’s public support test for public charities. Unlike public charities, which rely on broad donor support, private foundations are typically funded by individuals, families, or businesses. They primarily focus on grantmaking rather than fundraising and are organized as charitable trusts or corporations.
Is a Private Foundation Right for Me?
Choosing a private foundation depends on factors like:
• Charitable Goals – Ideal for long-term giving.
• Control – Provides maximum control over charitable assets.
• Flexibility – Allows governance by family or external members.
• Legacy & Family Involvement – Helps establish philanthropic traditions.
• Duration – Can exist in perpetuity or for a fixed term.
• Tax Benefits – Offers deductions and estate planning advantages.
Other Charitable Giving Options
Alternatives include donating to public charities, setting up donor-advised funds, or establishing supporting
organizations and charitable trusts.
Private Foundation Requirements
• Size & Costs – While no minimum is required, starting with $1-2 million is advisable due to operational costs.
• Administration – Must comply with IRS rules, including grant-making, tax filings, and investment regulations.
• Annual Distributions – Must distribute at least 5% of its assets annually for charitable purposes.
• Taxation – Exempt from income tax but subject to a 1.39% excise tax on net investment income.
Managing a Private Foundation
Governance typically falls to a board, often with investment professionals’ assistance. For expert guidance, Truist Foundations & Endowments Specialty Practice provides support in legal, tax, and investment matters.

“I can make more of a difference now than I could before.” These words of hope and resilience come from then 25-year-old Carter Viss, who defied the odds after nearly losing his life in a boating accident while snorkeling at Breakers Reef in Palm Beach. From the moment he regained consciousness, Carter was determined to transform his trauma into a force for positive change.
A seasoned diver, Viss and a friend spent Thanksgiving Day 2019 exploring Breakers Reef, a site known for its submerged pier and thriving marine life. The conditions were perfect, and they marveled at the sight of sharks, grunts, jacks, sea turtles, guitarfish, and angelfish. After about an hour, they began their swim back to shore. It was then that Carter heard the deafening roar of a boat engine.
“I looked to my right and saw a massive boat hull barreling straight toward me at a very high speed. My adrenaline immediately kicked in, and I knew whatever maneuvers I made would mean the difference between life and death. I managed to swim as far out of its path as I could, but I also knew there was no way I could outswim its size and speed. I tilted my body so my head and torso were as far away from the boat as possible and made one final desperate push to clear its path. Then I braced for impact.”
The vessel, a 36-foot Yellowfin boat powered by three 400-horsepower Mercury Verado outboard engines, struck Viss. Thanks to the swift response of rescuers, he was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where doctors saved his life but were unable to save his severed arm.
Months of grueling rehabilitation followed. Having worked extensively with sea turtles injured by boat strikes, Viss now found himself advocating for both human and marine safety from personal experience.
The boat’s driver was charged with willful and reckless operation of a vessel, a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. But Carter chose not revenge, but a different path—one of reconciliation and advocacy.
Rather than seeking retribution, he saw an opportunity to collaborate with the boat driver to raise awareness and push for safer boating practices. During the plea agreement hearing, Viss delivered a poignant
statement:
“Imagine yourself doing the thing you love the most. It is a perfect day for doing this, and out of the hundreds of times you have done this responsibly, today is particularly exceptional. After hours of enjoyment, you decide to call it a day and head back home. Then, in a matter of seconds, your joy and contentment are interrupted by a sudden impact. The next thing you notice is your arm on the ground about twenty feet away
from you. Before you can process the absolute shock of that sight you notice both your legs are dangling from your body and your ability to move effortlessly is nothing but a distant memory. As you start to inhale your own blood infused with saltwater you start to sink until you cannot breathe, and all you can see is red, This is not a story from a war zone or battlefield, but from an area you once called your happy place.”
Carter’s mission was clear: he wanted to ensure no one else suffered the same fate. He used his plea deal as a platform to work alongside the boat driver, focusing on education and prevention.
Out of this tragedy, Viss launched the Carter Viss Foundation, dedicated to promoting boating and diving safety. His accident underscored the dangers of excessive speed and proximity to shore—at just 700 feet from the beach, the boat was traveling 45 mph when it struck him. Despite towing a standard 12x12 dive flag, he remained unseen by the operator.
To address this issue, the foun-
dation has designed an innovative Diver Down flag, set to launch in early 2025. This new flag features a three-dimensional, triangular design, increasing its size to 15x15 inches while remaining collapsible for easy storage. The goal is to improve visibility for boaters and prevent future tragedies.
Beyond flag enhancements, Viss advocates for responsible boating practices, urging boaters to maintain
a safer distance from shore or slow down when approaching populated waters. “It’s a huge ocean, and there’s room for us all,” he says. He suggests retreating at least 1,000 feet—roughly three football fields from the beach to ensure safer coexistence between divers and vessels.
Viss has chronicled his journey in his book Found in the Wake, now available on Amazon. His story is not just one of survival but of purpose, resilience, and unwavering commitment to change.

Mental health is often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of daily life, but it plays a critical role in how we think, feel, and act. Much like physical health, mental health requires regular attention, care, and investment. The returns on investing in your mental health can be substantial both personally and professionally. By taking steps to care for your psychological well-being, you’ll likely experience improvements in mood, relationships, productivity, and resilience. Here’s why it’s crucial to prioritize mental health and how you can make meaningful investments in it.
1. Better Relationships: Balanced mental health isn’t just about you—it affects how you interact with others. When you’re feeling mentally strong, you’re more empathetic, patient, and better able to manage conflicts. By nurturing your mental health, you are also investing in your ability to connect with others, fostering better communication and stronger bonds.
2. Improved Productivity: Mental health is a key factor in how well we perform in every aspect of our lives. More balanced mental health can lead to increased focus, organization, and higher levels of motivation. Poor mental health can lead to stress, burnout, and reduced performance at work or in school.
3. Emotional Resilience: Life can be unpredictable, and challenges are inevitable. Whether it’s a job loss, a difficult breakup, or a personal failure, maintaining your mental health allows you to build emotional resilience. When you’re emotionally resilient, you’re better able to cope with stress, setbacks, and uncertainties without letting them derail your life. It equips you with the skills
and mindset necessary to bounce back stronger from life’s challenges.
4. Long-term Well-being: Mental health problems, if left unaddressed, can lead to serious long-term consequences. Chronic conditions such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD can significantly impact quality of life. Left untreated, chronic stress and anxiety have been linked to an increased risk of digestive problems, headaches, heart disease, high blood pressure, and many other health issues. Investing in your mental health early on can help prevent these conditions from escalating. Just like regular checkups for physical health, routine maintenance for your mind can protect you from more severe issues down the road.
You can prioritize your mental health by doing the following: get adequate sleep, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, practice mindfulness, manage stress, set emotional boundaries, develop a strong social support system, engage in meaningful activities, and seek professional help from a licensed therapist or psychologist as needed. Investing in your mental health is not a onetime event but a continuous practice. It requires mindfulness, self-compassion, and an ongoing commitment to creating a healthy mindset. The sooner you begin to prioritize your mental health, the better equipped you’ll be to navigate the ups and downs of life.

Raising children comes with ever-growing expenses, but dressing them in high-quality clothing doesn’t have to be one of them. Investing in well-made pieces that retain value is a smart, sustainable choice—without the need to overspend on a wardrobe they’ll quickly outgrow.
Our community has several excellent children’s clothing shops that seamlessly blend style, savings, and sustainability.
Shop Intentionally – Children’s consignment clothing shops make it exciting to discover a hand-picked selection of like-new, designer, and premium children’s apparel at a fraction of retail prices. The inventory includes sought-after brands, durable strollers, and engaging toys—all carefully chosen for quality.
Curate & Cash In – Bringing in your child’s gently used clothing, toys, and gear gives other families the same opportunity to enjoy high-quality items. After a careful selection process, stores offer cash or store credit for accepted items—keeping products out of landfills while giving you an excuse to refresh your child’s wardrobe. This approach allows families to maximize value while making a positive impact on both their finances and the environment.
For parents who appreciate quality, resale shopping offers distinct advantages:
1. Smart Spending – Children’s needs evolve quickly. Buying premium second-hand fashion (some even new with tags) allows you to dress them stylishly while making practical financial choices.
2. Uncompromising Quality – These stores have a meticulous inspection process to ensure that only the finest gently-used items make it to the shelves. “Every piece meets the same standard we’d expect for our own children,” according to Francesca, one of the dedicated curators at Kid to Kid.
3. Sustainable Luxury – Giving pre-loved items a second life reduces waste and supports an eco-conscious lifestyle—an invaluable lesson for future generations. Redefine how you shop for your child. Let the treasure hunt begin—start with Kid to Kid in Palm Beach Gardens.

The kitchen is probably the most interactive space in the home, and one of the rooms that brings the largest return on investment.
Realtors will attest that homebuyers will turn thumbs up or down on a sale over the quality perceived in a kitchen.
“High end appliances transform a home by blending luxury with functionality — offering superior performance, efficiency and durability while elevating both aesthetics and resale value,” said Heather E. Towe, a real estate broker with Jupiter’s Paradise Real Estate International.
Appliances today can cost in the five and six figures, so thinking of them as an investment means choosing wisely when equipping a new home or replacing old models.
“These are not your mother’s appliances anymore,” said Susan Harris, spokeswoman for Jetson Appliances in Stuart. For instance, she said, “A lot of things are no longer made with plastic, and there’s different coolants used in them today.”
Energy efficiency is increased resulting in lower power bills.
If you can dream it, it’s probably available, such as this under-counter refrigerator.
New residents might find their bills are still higher than up North. Appliances perform differently in South Florida than in Northern homes.
“Florida is the toughest state on appliances. The climate, salt air, humidity, lightning strikes and power surges take their tolls,” Harris said.
Before investing thousands on an appliance, picture the usage to determine whether a massive refrigerator or six-burner stove is really necessary for a smaller household. Plus ask yourself if you’ll really use a new feature.
“Price isn’t always the thing,” Harris said. Quality and reliability can be found in all levels of brands.
Style plays a role, as well, but don’t fall for a trendy look that may not hold long or may be clever and have myriad bells and whistles, but are not practical.
Be careful what you wish for as add-ons in big refrigerators and massive ovens. “The more things you have, the more things that can go wrong,” Harris said.
Is a separate fridge door for ice, and another door for condiments necessary? Do you cook enough variety to have an indoor grill or flat-top griddle built in? How about a pot filler over the stove.
Trim your wish list, she said. “Ask yourself, ‘Do I really need it?’”
A showroom is easy to get lost in, but picture the usage to determine whether a massive refrigerator or six-burner stove is really necessary for a smaller household.
Fit the appliances to your style of cooking — or lack of cooking. Get versed in ways to heat up cooked foods: warming ovens, holding drawers, convection ovens, and the new combo ovens that do it all in one place.
Unclutter your countertop with built-ins, but be aware of venting that is needed and can add to cost.
While these can cost more, they make up for separate pieces that could add up to the same figure, and take up more space.
Keep in mind potential repairs, and ask a sales person which are more prone to break down than others. Research online and read about specific models and which draw the highest ratings.
Don’t be afraid to call a local appliance repair shop and ask which brands they see more of and would advise against.
Kitchen designer Beth Hales with Custom Cabinet Designs of Jupiter recommends top brands that bundle. “A lot of my clients go for Sub Zero, Wolf, Thermadore — they are related. A Sub Zero can last 20 years and more as opposed to a bargain brand that might need to be replaced after five years.” It’s the same with top dishwashers Bosch and Miele. “Sub Zero is making their own now, and they’re doing well in performance.”
These feature the modern amenities cooks want — even at a price. “Things like the steam ovens, convection — they do it well,” she said.
Choices of settings in dishwashers, especially, make it worth getting a top model that can wash fine crystal as well as silver. “It’s a personal thing now. And some people want top racks for silverware, others want baskets on the side. It’s all preference.”
Those ice makers? She laughed. “What kind of ice do you want in your drink? Clear, fogged, square, round, small, large? It’s all custom now. Definitely not your mother’s kitchen.”

Around the 12th hole fairway at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches, some patrons found a familiar eatery: Jupiter’s Little Moir’s Food Shack. It offered something more than your hotdogs and burgers.
“We were standing there waiting, and I go, ‘These knuckleheads are going to general concessions. They must not know they have a great restaurant service, right here,’” said James Rhinehart. He was taking a breather at the PGA National Resort where 67 golfers on the final Sunday chased a little white ball and a piece of the $9.2 million purse. (Joe Highsmith notched his first PGA Tour win).
Palm Beach Gardens’ PGA tournament got a new sponsor in late 2023, the IT consulting company Cognizant, after Honda had become synonymous with the contest. But with a new sponsor came a new look, and that meant Jupiter and some of its eateries took center stage in the heart of the course.
This year’s tournament created fan activation zones – or villages. There was one for Palm Beach, for Palm Beach Gardens, and yes, Jupiter.
“My vision is how do we get all of the locals to feel like
they have a place here, whether they understand golf or not? We can do that through food and beverage,” said Cognizant Classic Executive Director Todd Flemming.
One only needs to glance at the menu at Jupiter’s Little Moir’s Food Shack – sweet potato crusted fish, crab cake sandwich – to know it’s not your standard sports fare. Executive Catering Chef Mike Murgio and Catering Supervisor Megan Murray explained, besides the Food Shack, the company also has Leftovers and the Hibiscus StrEATery – all in Jupiter.
“We try to put out the best, freshest product that we can buy and execute every day, and we just try to have fun with it,” Murgio said. And indeed Murgio stuck an Anthony Bourdain profile as he created dishes off that 12th hole fairway under a pine grove.
About 30 yards away, stood one of four Sunset Slush Jupiter carts. The independent operator launched in August 2023 with a secret recipe to make Italian ice taste like creamy ice cream – seriously. Its brick-and-mortar store can be found in the Bluffs Square Shoppes.
Owner Christine Morrell traded a corporate job for slush. She said that Proof in the Pudding, a third party contractor that manages the food and beverages for the
PGA, recruited her for the Cognizant Classic.
“So we go with the local businesses, because I feel as big as we are, hundreds and hundreds of traveling circus people here, we’re also still local,” said Shane McCabe, director of hospitality for Atlanta’s Proof of the Pudding. “We brought in the barista, like the husband and wife out here, who are great.”
While Chik Monk Coffee is technically a Palm Beach business – the aforementioned couple Nandini Jayaprasad and David Beil say they roast their beans in Jupiter. And this coffee is single sourced from a farm in India – while most coffees blend their beans from a region, she explained.
“So it comes from a place called Chikmagalur,” Jayaprasad explains. “That’s where we grow the coffee. And back in the days of the monks, they brought the beans from Africa to India, like in the 1600s. So we did a play on the words chick and monk.”
The local touch didn’t go unnoticed.
“Because it’s supporting small businesses. I mean I would rather support small business than some other yahoo that’s not from here,” said Madison Quarantiello, who said she was living in the Jupiter area.
J.T. Parris, who lives in Vero Beach, said he has noticed the changes, calling them “fan-friendly.”
This year’s tournament was blessed with the kind of Garden of Eden weather that tourists write home about – a turnabout from last year’s rainy event. It was sunny but not too hot, breezy but not too windy. In other words,
perfect.
There were other upscale changes to Cognizant, Fleming said, to update the VIP areas and create new exclusive ones, as well. The stands were closer to the ground to allow spectators closer to tee boxes and closer to greens. Then there was the exclusive Yellow Flamingo Club that sports suites on Hole 18 and access to the best food – including the restaurant at PGA National called the Butcher’s Club with a Michelin-star chef.
“I’m on record that I want this to be the London Fashion Week meets Cannes Film Festival meets the Kentucky Derby,” he said. “All of that has to do with fashion, being seen, elegance, upscale sophistication in a really fun environment.”
Yet, there is always room for a burger or a hotdog, right?
In the tent next to Moir’s, mom Tracey Gulick was slinging food to raise money for Jupiter High School seniors to hold an alcohol-free party after their graduation ceremony.
“It’s been a great weekend. Weather’s been great. Golf has been good,” she said. “We have a lot of great volunteers that dedicate their time to pull this off and make a great event for our kids.”
The tournament has been a significant contributor to the local economy. In 2023, the tournament attracted over 200,000 attendees and generated more than $40 million in economic impact for the area. And now even more of those dollars are going to local businesses.

With endless destinations and accommodations to choose from, planning travel can feel overwhelming. Each hotel brand has its own policies on booking, cancellations, and guest capacity. You could spend hours researching and still be unsure if you’re getting the best deal or if the hotel will meet your expectations. This is where a travel agent becomes a valuable asset. Booking with a trusted advisor maximizes your budget, saves time, and enhances your overall travel experience.
Book with an Expert
Vacation planning can quickly become overwhelming with the sheer number of hotel and resort options. Many properties seem similar, offering comparable amenities at different price points. A travel agent has insider knowledge, firsthand experience, and access to information that isn’t always available to the public. Instead of sifting through countless online reviews, you can book with confidence.
Beyond hotels, a travel advisor ensures you meet all travel requirements, from passports and visas to necessary vaccinations, so you don’t run into unexpected issues at your destination.
Exclusive Perks and Upgrades
Hotel loyalty programs often require multiple stays or high spending to unlock premium perks. A travel agent, however, can secure exclusive benefits—often at a lower cost—on your first visit. These perks may include room upgrades, resort credits, complimentary breakfast,
concierge services, or early check-in and late check-out. You can enjoy VIP treatment without paying VIP prices. Service and Advocacy
Even with the best planning, unexpected issues can arise—flight delays, lost luggage, or emergencies. Navigating these situations alone can be frustrating, especially in a foreign country. A travel agent serves as your advocate, offering direct assistance without long hold times or language barriers. In case of a major disruption, they can handle the logistics of getting you to safety, providing peace of mind throughout your journey.
Travel planning doesn’t have to be stressful or time-consuming. Even if you enjoy organizing your own trips, a travel agent can enhance the experience, securing perks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Consult a travel expert and discover how effortless and rewarding your next adventure can be.

When it comes to protecting your home, understanding what your insurance covers can save you from costly surprises. Water and wind damage are two of the most common concerns, but whether or not your insurance policy will cover it depends on a few factors. The source of the water, and the updates and improvements made to mitigate the wind damage.
If water damage occurs suddenly and accidentally— such as from a burst pipe—your homeowner’s insurance policy will likely cover the repairs. However, if the damage results from neglect or lack of maintenance, such as a leaky air conditioning unit or a roof with cracked tiles that were never repaired, your claim may be denied.
Homeowners insurance typically does not cover water damage from external sources, such as rising water levels due to heavy rain, an overflowing lake, or blocked street drainage that directs water toward your home. To be protected from these risks, you need a separate flood insurance policy.
Can a Wind Mitigation Inspection Lower Your Insurance Costs?
A wind mitigation inspection can sometimes lead to
reduced insurance premiums, but it depends on the updates and improvements made to your home.
When Will a Wind Mitigation Inspection Help Lower Costs?
• If you’ve upgraded your garage door to an impact-rated model.
• If you replaced a roof that was installed before 2003 when stricter building codes took effect.
• If you upgraded your roof’s connection from toe nails to clips, which provides stronger resistance to wind damage.
If you had shutters and later replaced them with impact glass, a new inspection will not provide additional discounts since the opening protection discount was already factored into your policy.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions about home maintenance and insurance policies, ensuring that the investments made to your home remain protected without unnecessary costs.

Reactivity in dogs? It’s not just “oops, bad pup!”— it’s a leadership hiccup because dogs crave clarity, structure, and a confident human to follow. Without it, their natural instincts take over.
Dog owners can inadvertently turn their pooch into a reactive rockstar with some classic leadership bloopers. I thought it would be great to go into some of the mistakes that we humans can make with our dogs and some ways to fix these behaviors
Wishy-Washy Rules will lead to leash reactivity, as in: some days leash-pulling is fine; the next, it’s a no-no.
The Emotional Rollercoaster:
Yelling “STOP!” or nervously clutching the leash when Rover spots a potentially rival pup. The Dog Says: “If you’re freaking out, then I am freaking out.”
Dogs will always mirror your emotions, and because we love our dog, there are always strong emotions attached.
Expecting Fido to magically understand how you expect the walk to go or to finally get it, without a headsup.
Your dog thinks, “Okay, I’ll just bark at EVERYTHING to be safe!” When this happens now their hyper vigilance is activated, and as humans we become increasingly frustrated with our dogs usually holding the leash even tighter.
As humans we inadvertently make the mistake of allowing our dogs to decide what to sniff or when to sprint, but this lets them believe that they are in control of the walk.
Dogs don’t dream of running the show—they want a calm, confident leader. Set fun, firm rules. Stay cool as
a cucumber (even when they’re not). Show them the ropes with a wag-worthy smile. Take the leash—and the lead-back!

Nestled along Florida’s Atlantic coast, Jupiter is a boater’s dream. With its extensive waterways, crystal-clear inlets, and easy access to both inshore and offshore waters, Jupiter offers an unparalleled boating experience. Whether you’re an avid angler, a sandbar enthusiast, or a traveler seeking adventure, the options are endless when it comes to exploring this coastal paradise by boat.
A Boater’s Playground
Jupiter’s waterways are a blend of scenic Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) routes, winding rivers, and open ocean access. The Loxahatchee River, one of Florida’s only federally designated Wild and Scenic Rivers, provides a unique backdrop for boaters looking to immerse themselves in nature. Lined with lush mangroves and home to an abundance of wildlife, including manatees, otters, and bird species, the river offers a peaceful escape for kayakers and boaters alike. The Jupiter Inlet seamlessly connects boaters to the Atlantic Ocean, making offshore excursions a breeze. With its strong currents and shifting sands, navigating the inlet requires skill, but it rewards boaters with access to deep-sea adventures. Sandbars and Secluded Shores
One of the most popular boating activities in Jupiter is heading to the area’s famous sandbars. The Jupiter Sandbar, near the inlet, is a hot spot for boaters looking to relax, socialize, and enjoy the Florida sun. On weekends, it transforms into a floating party with families, friends, and fellow boaters anchoring up for a day of fun.
For those seeking a more serene experience, the
nearby Munyon Island and Peanut Island offer quieter alternatives with scenic beauty and excellent snorkeling. Jupiter is home to several other lesser-known sandbars that provide boaters with additional places to explore and relax. The Tequesta Sandbar, located near the Loxahatchee River, is a favorite among locals who enjoy its shallow waters and picturesque surroundings. This sandbar is perfect for families, as the calm waters create a safe environment for kids to splash around.
Further along the Loxahatchee River, another sandbar emerges at low tide, offering an excellent spot for wading, shelling, and even paddleboarding. This hidden gem is surrounded by lush mangroves, making it a peaceful retreat away from the busier sandbars closer to the inlet.
Near Cato’s Bridge, a well-known diving and snorkeling spot, boaters can anchor and explore the underwater ecosystem. The area is teeming with marine life, including tropical fish, rays, and even the occasional sea turtle.
Finally, the Lighthouse Sandbar, near the historic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, provides a scenic and convenient location to drop anchor. With stunning views of the iconic red lighthouse and crystal-clear waters, this sandbar is a favorite for boaters looking to combine history with leisure. The Lighthouse Sandbar is a must-visit for any boater in Jupiter.
With its abundant waterways, diverse marine life, and easy access to offshore waters, Jupiter is truly a boater’s paradise. Jupiter offers endless opportunities for adventure on the water. So, grab your boat, pack your gear, and set sail.
Abacoa, a master-planned community with a mix of housing, remains a solid choice for long-term investment.
By Heather Towe
Real estate has long been one of the most reliable ways to build and preserve wealth, and in Jupiter, the luxury market continues to attract savvy investors looking for long-term gains. While quick flips and short-term holds have become less viable, those with a strategic vision are finding smart ways to invest. This article explores key trends, highlights promising neighborhoods, and offers insights into how affluent investors and local residents can thrive in Jupiter’s dynamic market.
Jupiter’s real estate landscape is evolving. Rising interest rates, increased construction costs, and a competitive market have made short-term flips more challenging. As a result, investors are shifting toward longterm value appreciation, focusing on land acquisition, development projects, and rental properties that cater to both seasonal visitors and year-round residents.
While the market fluctuates in the short term, prime locations like Jupiter have historically appreciated over time. Investors who adopt a long-term approach can benefit from stability and wealth-building potential, even
as market conditions change.
Jupiter’s real estate market remains strong, but the days of quick profits through flipping have become more difficult. Rising construction costs, higher interest rates, and longer days on the market have made short-term holds less attractive.
The smarter strategy? Focus on properties with longterm value, rental income potential, or redevelopment opportunities. Investors who prioritize future growth potential over immediate resale value are likely to see more stable and rewarding returns.
Identifying the right neighborhood is crucial for maximizing returns. Beyond well-established communities, several areas in Jupiter are gaining attention for their investment potential:
Abacoa stands out as a master-planned community offering a mix of single-family homes and townhouses. Its family-friendly environment, proximity to Florida Atlantic University, and vibrant town center make it ap-
pealing to both investors and tenants. With golf courses, parks, and consistent property appreciation, Abacoa remains a solid choice for long-term investment. Jupiter Farms: Space, Privacy, and Growth Potential
For those seeking larger plots and a rural ambiance without sacrificing accessibility, Jupiter Farms is an attractive option. Known for its equestrian-friendly properties and spacious lots, this area appeals to buyers looking for privacy and a connection to nature. With limited land availability driving steady appreciation, investors focused on development, eco-tourism, or agricultural ventures may find lucrative opportunities.
Limestone Creek: An Area on the Rise
Limestone Creek is one of Jupiter’s most promising up-and-coming neighborhoods. New development projects are bringing modern housing options, attracting buyers seeking affordable yet high-potential real estate. Investors who secure property here early may see significant appreciation as the area continues to develop.
In Jupiter’s high-demand market, land is becoming one of the most valuable assets. Investors with a longterm vision are purchasing land for future development, understanding that Jupiter’s continued growth will only increase its value.
From luxury custom homes to small-scale residential developments, those playing the long game are positioning themselves well. While this strategy requires patience, the potential payoff is substantial as land becomes increasingly scarce.
While home prices fluctuate in the short term, history shows that well-located properties in desirable areas like Jupiter tend to gain value steadily over time. Investors who hold onto their properties and ride out market shifts are often rewarded with substantial returns.
For Florida residents who already own property in Jupiter, the challenge isn’t just about investing—it’s about maintaining real estate wealth amid rising property values, taxes, and insurance costs. Many homeowners are strategizing ways to stay in the market, whether through refinancing, leveraging home equity, or turning properties into rentals to generate additional income.
Jupiter’s luxury market is evolving. While the fast-flip model may not be the best strategy right now, long-term investments continue to thrive. Whether it’s securing property in up-and-coming areas, holding onto homes, or investing in land for future development, the wealthy are making moves that will pay off for years to come.
For local homeowners, the key is to hold onto property and leverage it wisely to ensure they continue to benefit from Jupiter’s rising market.

Textured kitchen design elements like reeded cabinet doors and backsplashes add depth and character.
By Beth Hales
Textured kitchen design elements are becoming increasingly popular in South Florida, offering a sophisticated way to add depth and character to modern interiors. Incorporating tactile materials such as reeded doors and wall paneling brings a sense of warmth and craftsmanship to the heart of the home.
Reeded Cabinet Doors
Reeded doors are a standout feature in textured kitchen design, characterized by vertical, fluted grooves that create a rhythmic, eye-catching pattern. This subtle yet dynamic texture adds a layer of visual interest without overwhelming the space. Reeded doors work beautifully on both full cabinet facades and smaller accent panels, offering a bespoke feel when paired with minimalist hardware or integrated pulls. The grooves naturally cast shadows, adding depth and making cabinetry a central design feature. Additionally, reeded doors can be finished in a variety of materials, from painted wood to natural oak, allowing homeowners to customize the look to suit their overall kitchen aesthetic.
Textured Wall Paneling
Wall paneling is another effective way to introduce texture into the kitchen. Vertical slat paneling or fluted wall cladding can frame architectural features like kitchen islands or breakfast nooks, creating a cohesive design narrative. This type of paneling not only adds visual ap-
peal but also serves a functional purpose by protecting walls from everyday wear and tear. The vertical lines provide a subtle contrast to smooth countertops and sleek appliances, enhancing the overall aesthetic balance of the space. Wall paneling can also be installed in natural wood tones or painted finishes, offering versatility for both modern and traditional kitchens.
Additional Textural Elements
Beyond cabinetry and wall paneling, textured backsplashes and natural stone countertops can further enhance the kitchen’s visual appeal. Materials like marble, slate, or handmade tiles add tactile contrast and create a harmonious blend of textures. Open shelving in natural wood or metal can also introduce layered textures while offering practical storage solutions.
By incorporating reeded doors, textured wall paneling, and complementary materials, homeowners can craft a kitchen space that blends tactile beauty with functional elegance. These elements celebrate craftsmanship while adding depth and warmth to any kitchen design, creating a space that is both stylish and inviting.

Wood floor inlays have become a sought-after trend in South Florida interior design, offering a way to infuse personality and sophistication into any space. These decorative elements blend artistry with functionality, making them a standout feature in coastal and tropical-inspired homes.
Wood floor inlays are decorative patterns or motifs set into the floor using various wood types. South Florida homeowners often choose materials that complement the region’s vibrant aesthetic, such as warm-toned mahogany, rich walnut, or light-colored maple. Exotic woods like Brazilian cherry and teak are popular choices, reflecting the area’s affinity for luxury and natural beauty. Designs range from simple geometric patterns to intricate medallions and parquet layouts. Coastal-inspired motifs, such as seashells, palm leaves, or wave patterns, can add a unique touch that connects the interior space to the natural surroundings. Borders and focal points, such as entryways or sunlit living areas, are popular placements that create a striking impression.
Father-daughter team Mike and Ashlee have over 35 years in the wood flooring business. They are a local family-owned business. Visit contemporaryhardwoodfloors.com
Incorporating metal inlays into wood flooring is a growing trend, offering a modern twist on a classic feature. Brass and copper inlays, which develop a warm patina over time, perfectly complement the breezy, tropical aesthetic of South Florida homes. Combining metal with wood or other materials like stone and glass can further elevate the design, creating one-of-a-kind floors that capture the region’s eclectic style.
Professional installation is essential for achieving flawless results with wood and metal inlays. Precise cutting and fitting ensure seamless integration, while proper adhesives and finishes guarantee long-lasting durability in South Florida’s humid climate. Regular maintenance, including cleaning and occasional polishing, helps preserve the beauty and luster of both wood and metal components.
Wood flooring inlays are more than just decorative— they are an investment in the character and value of your home. Whether opting for timeless elegance or coastal innovation, these inlays can transform any space into a masterpiece of South Florida design.

Spring is the season of renewal, making it the perfect time to give your home a fresh, updated look. As you sweep away the dust and clutter, consider adding stylish touches to brighten your space. From wall art to furniture, small changes can make a big impact.
Wall Art:
A simple way to breathe new life into any room is with fresh wall art. Swap out darker pieces for light, airy designs that reflect the beauty of spring. Think soft pastels, floral prints, or abstract art that adds a pop of color. If you’re feeling creative, create a gallery wall with framed photos and art pieces that tell a story.
Dining Table:
Your dining table is more than a place to eat — it’s a focal point in your home. Refresh it with a new table runner, colorful placemats, or elegant dishware. Add a centerpiece like a vase of fresh flowers or a decorative bowl to create a welcoming atmosphere. A new set of chairs or slipcovers can also make a dramatic difference.
TV Console:
The TV console often becomes a catch-all space,
so take some time to declutter and restyle it. Remove unnecessary items, hide cables, and add a few decorative pieces like candles, framed photos, or small plants. A sleek media unit with clean lines can give your living room a modern feel, while a rustic wooden console adds warmth and character.
And More…
Refreshing your home doesn’t require a full makeover. Rearrange furniture to create a more open, inviting layout. Consider adding a cozy armchair, a stylish coffee table, or a sleek new bookshelf. Even updating hardware on cabinets or swapping out the slipcover can transform a room.
This spring, let your home reflect the season’s energy with simple changes that create a clean, vibrant, and welcoming space.

The federal Bureau of Land Management havs begun a shoreline stabilization project along the perimiter of the lighthouse natural area. Natural and human-caused erosion will be curbed with a retaining wall and living seawall.
By Alex Cotleur
Paddling is a holistic investment in personal growth, well-being and ultimately our natural resources. The more time I spent on our waterways, the more I was driven to become involved and aware of what was in store and there is a lot going on! The pandemic brought an influx of new residents as well as boat, jet ski rental and tour companies making our waterways busier than we could have predicted. Mangrove islands are disappearing, and one open wake zone has become too busy to support the crowd of mixed users. Upcoming projects will soon transform the waterway landscape as we know it.
In 2008, after a concerted effort by local environmentalists, Congress designated the Jupiter Lighthouse a Natural Outstanding Area. This designation is the only one of its kind on this side of the Mississippi River and protects the unique combination of natural, historical
and cultural resources found onsite. The site is proudly managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The shoreline stabilization project is comprised of a terraced sheet pile retaining wall on shore and a living seawall along the waterway. Historically, the hill was covered with Australian Pines and users would beach their boats to jump off rope swings they hung on them. The designation of Australian Pines as an exotic invasive species resulted in their removal, drawing users to a new and inviting sandhill. Use of the area evolved to climbing up the dune and sliding down the hill, contributing to accelerated erosion. Despite BLM’s efforts to keep people off the dunes with signage, the use continued resulting in the stabilization project that was developed in January 2022 and construction began in March 2025.
The Jupiter Narrows is the area from Coral Cove south to the inlet connecting the south end of the Indian River Lagoon to the Atlantic Ocean. Its clean blue
water, abundant sea life and natural beauty draws a crowd of mixed users; even at low tide the water is a magnificent blue. The influx of boaters and paddlers since the pandemic has also resulted in degradation of the mangrove islands north of Cato’s Bridge. Mangroves keep our shorelines together, filter the water and create habitat for a variety of species. They are protected under Florida statutes with strict guidelines requiring a permit as well as a special license for legal trimming. Residents in the buildings overlooking the area witnessed the continual abuse of the mangrove islands and formed the Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance. They plan to revive the dying mangroves by placing a breakwater of rocks around each island. Just like the project west of the railroad tracks in the Loxahatchee River Embayment and designed by the same engineering company, this project features a series of low limestone barriers. These barriers help calm the waves while also creating a rocky habitat for fish and mangrove volunteers. Volunteers are naturally sprouted mangrove seeds that grow on their own, making the restoration of the mangrove area more natural. You can find more information about their efforts at jupiternarrowsconversation.org.
Wildlife Conservation Commis-
At its February 2025 meeting, the FWC approved a final rule to establish a restricted boating area in the Jupiter Narrows. Boaters will be required to travel at idle speed from Cato’s Bridge north 2,225 feet to approximately the north end of Waterway Village. I have been following this rule for years, it has been in the works since 2006 with the first official rule passing in 2023. That rule was overturned and FWC went back to conduct another boating study. The results of the second study showed a dangerous increase from the use reported in the previous study, further justifying the rule. Passed for the purpose of public safety, this new idle zone will minimize wakes on the mangrove islands set for restoration. The rule still must go to Tallahassee for finalization and signage needs to be created so an exact date of when enforcement will begin is not available.
Investment in our health and our natural resources is a part of daily life in our active community of Jupiter. We are fortunate to live where residents step up to protect our natural resources. It takes a village and all it takes is finding your niche to keep your interest. Looking to connect to nature? Let’s paddle!
For over 15 years, Alex has immersed herself in the local paddling community as a guide, instructor, coach and local advocate. New paddlers are her specialty.
A rendering of the limestone breakwaters that would be placed in front of each mangrove island in the Jupiter Narrows intended to protect the mangroves from more damage and create habitats for fish and new mangroves. The project is currently in the permitting stage.
A new FWC rule, if approved by the state, would establish a idle speed zone in the Jupiter Narrows. Intended as a public safety measure, it would also help minimize the wakes on the mangrove islands set for restoration.
Living in Florida means enjoying sunshine and coastal breezes, but the humid climate and frequent storms can take a toll on your home, especially your windows and sliding glass doors. Proper seal maintenance and waterproofing are essential to protect your home from water damage, improve energy efficiency, and extend the life of your windows and doors. Here’s how to keep your window and door seals in top shape.
1. Regular Inspections
Make it a habit to inspect your window seals at least twice a year — ideally before hurricane season and after the rainy months. Look for cracks, peeling, or gaps in the sealant around the window frame. Pay attention to moisture or condensation between panes of glass and around the window and door frame, which could indicate a broken seal. Additionally, check for drafts or temperature differences near windows, as these could signal an air leak.
2. Clean the Seals
Dirt and debris can weaken window seals over time. Use a soft cloth, mild soap, and warm water to clean window and door frames and seals. Avoid harsh chemicals that can cause the sealant to degrade. For stubborn grime or mold buildup, a mixture of white vinegar and water can be used to gently scrub the seals. Use a small brush, like an old toothbrush, to get into crevices where dirt may accumulate. After cleaning, rinse with clean water and dry the seals thoroughly to prevent moisture buildup. Regular cleaning not only preserves the seal’s integrity but also helps you identify any early signs of wear or damage. Applying a silicone-based lubricant to rubber seals can also prevent cracking and keep them pliable.
Over time, caulk and weatherstripping can deteriorate, allowing air and water leaks. Inspect the caulking around the exterior of windows and reapply a high-quality, weather-resistant caulk if you notice any cracks or shrinkage. For windows with weatherstripping, check for any worn-out sections and replace them as needed to ensure a proper seal.
In the tropics, all windows and doors are prone to water and air leakage. There is a variety of water-resistant sealant formulas that are specifically designated for different areas of a window or a door to create a successful water- and air-tight barrier. All frames should be checked for cracks or loose fittings. Applying a liquid sealant or waterproof membrane to window and door frames can add an extra layer of protection.
5.
Sometimes, leaks and seal failures are caused by underlying structural problems. Inspect the surrounding walls for signs of water damage, such as peeling paint, warped wood, or mold growth. If you suspect an issue, address it promptly to prevent further damage.
6.
If you’re unsure about your windows’ condition, schedule an inspection with a professional. They can identify hidden issues and recommend long-lasting waterproofing solutions. Energy audits can also help pinpoint areas where improved sealing could enhance efficiency.
By staying proactive with window and door seal maintenance, you can protect your Florida home from water damage, maintain its integrity, reduce your energy bills, and keep your living space comfortable year-round.

In today’s fast-paced environment, fluctuating financial conditions, and extensive social media marketing strategies, it is common to invest time and money in products rather than personal well-being. It can be difficult to prioritize personal health and wellness. While diet and exercise are key components of health, one often overlooked self-care investment is chiropractic massage therapy. This holistic approach to healing offers numerous benefits by providing hands-on assistance to encourage physical and mental well-being while preventing chronic health issues. Chiropractic massage therapy combines traditional massage and modern technology with chiropractic care to support musculoskeletal health through personalized treatment.
Chronic pain arising from poor posture, repetitive strain, or previous injuries can significantly affect daily activities. Chiropractic massage therapy addresses the underlying causes of pain rather than just alleviating symptoms, offering sustained relief for conditions such as back pain, migraines, and joint discomfort.
Improved
By releasing tension in muscles and improving spinal alignment, chiropractic massage therapy enhances flexibility and range of motion. This is especially beneficial for highly active individuals, athletes, individuals with physically demanding jobs, and aging adults seeking to maintain mobility.
The mind and body are deeply interconnected. Chronic stress can lead to muscle tension, headaches, and fatigue. Chiropractic massage therapy helps regulate the nervous system, reducing stress hormones and promoting relaxation. As a result, many patients experience improved mood, better sleep, and enhanced focus.
Better Posture and Spinal Health
In a world dominated by screens and sedentary work environments, poor posture has become a common issue. Chiropractic massage therapy aims to promote spine movement, correct imbalances, and strengthen muscles, which may help prevent the long-term effects of poor posture, such as spinal degeneration and discomfort. Performing posture exercises at home is highly recommended to maintain and enhance the longevity of chiropractic adjustments.
Effective circulation is important for delivering nutrients and oxygen throughout the body. Chiropractic massage therapy can improve blood flow, which may reduce inflammation and support the immune system’s ability to
combat illness and heal injuries efficiently.
Investing in your health requires daily commitment and results in lifetime benefits. By incorporating chiropractic massage therapy into your wellness routine, you can experience long-term benefits that enhance your quality of life. Whether as a preventative measure or a treatment for existing conditions, this holistic approach empowers you to take control of your health naturally and effectively.
Prioritizing wellness is an investment to your future self. As we age, our body’s ability to recover, maintain flexibility, and withstand daily physical stress diminishes, making it essential to utilize supportive therapies like chiropractic massage to sustain overall well-being. With regular sessions, you can enjoy a pain-free, stress-free, and more vibrant life – allowing you to perform at your best physically, mentally and emotionally. At Marlin Chiropractic, we prioritize our patients and aim to improve their well-being daily, with tailored treatments specific to each individual

With 25 years of experience in ultrasound, I’ve seen how lifestyle choices impact vital organs like the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and gallbladder. These organs play key roles in digestion, detoxification, and metabolic health. Here’s how to keep them functioning optimally:
• Support Your Liver – Avoid processed foods, alcohol, and excess fats. Focus on lean proteins, fiber-rich foods, and antioxidants. Hydrate well to help flush out toxins.
• Protect Your Kidneys – Stay hydrated, limit sodium, and balance protein intake. If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, managing them is crucial.
• Keep Your Pancreas Healthy – Reduce refined sugars and processed foods. Eat fiber-rich whole foods and healthy fats to stabilize blood sugar.
• Prevent Gallbladder Issues – Eat healthy fats in moderation, increase fiber intake, and avoid crash diets that can lead to gallstones. Staying active supports gallbladder health.
• Screen for Early Signs – Many organ issues go unnoticed until symptoms appear. Abdominal ultrasounds detect early concerns like fatty liver, kidney stones, pancreas inflammation, and gallbladder sludge. Preventative screenings are key, especially for those with risk factors like obesity, diabetes, or high blood pressure.
Detox Drink for Organ Health
Try this simple detox drink to support your liver and kidneys:
1 glass of warm water Juice of ½ lemon
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
A dash of cayenne pepper (optional) Mix well and drink in the morning to kick start digestion and aid detoxification.
By maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and getting routine checkups, you can keep your vital organs functioning at their best for years to come.

The number one comment about hearing aids is their price, and I get it—hearing aids are expensive.
You’ve probably seen ads for $299 hearing aids and wondered why there’s such a massive price difference. Let’s break it down a little to make more sense of it.
Prescription hearing aids—meaning those fitted by a licensed professional, not over-the-counter (OTC) amplifiers that often do more harm than good—can range anywhere from $2,600 to $6,900. Yes, that’s a lot of money, but what do you actually get for that cost?
First, let’s consider the hearing device itself. Prescription hearing aids are essentially two miniature computers worn on your ears, processing thousands of sounds and voices within milliseconds. These powerful little devices perform the same complex work as your desktop computer, but in a size small enough to fit behind or inside your ear.
The next and most important factor is what we call bundled care. This means that all your follow-up visits, testing, hearing aid adjustments, technology updates, reprogramming, and troubleshooting are included at no extra cost. For as long as you have your hearing aids, we will see you at no charge. What other type of medi-
cal professional can you visit without paying for an office visit?
Another critical consideration is cognitive function. Numerous studies have linked dementia to hearing loss. As we begin to lose our ability to hear, we tend to withdraw, which reduces neural stimulation in the brain. Hearing aids help prevent this by keeping the auditory pathways active, supporting overall brain health.
Finally, there’s the social aspect—being able to fully engage in conversations with family and friends. No one wants to sit at a lively table and feel disconnected from the conversation. With prescription hearing aids, you can rejoin the conversation, participate in the fun, and stay connected instead of feeling left out.
The bottom line? Hearing aids are expensive, but investing in yourself and your health should never be ignored. Take the time to check your hearing and explore why a high-quality hearing aid could be right for you.

When people think about investments, they often focus on stocks, real estate, or business ventures. But the smartest investment you’ll ever make isn’t in the market—it’s in yourself. The return on prioritizing your health, mindset, and personal growth extends beyond the gym or a coaching session. It appears in your career, relationships, energy levels, and daily life.
A personal trainer doesn’t just help you get fit—they improve your strength, longevity, and confidence. A nutritionist doesn’t just give you a meal plan—they teach you how to fuel your body for sustainable energy for the rest of your life. A coach doesn’t just set goals with you—they help you break through barriers that have held you back for years.
But what does the ROI actually look like?
More Energy & Productivity – When you feel your best, you perform better in work, relationships, and daily life. More energy equals more opportunities.
Long-Term Health Savings –Investing in fitness, nutrition, and stress management now can help prevent costly medical issues later. Prevention is always cheaper than the cure. Many health insurance companies recognize this and provide financial assistance or reimbursements for preventative healthcare expenses, such as gym memberships.
Confidence & Better Decision-Making – The more you work on your mindset, the more clarity and self-assurance you gain—key ingredients for success in business and life.
Career Growth & Financial Gains – Research shows that people who invest in personal development earn more as they develop the skills, resilience, and leadership abilities that drive success.
Emotional Strength & Fulfillment – True wealth isn’t just financial—it’s the ability to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and peace of mind.
Think of the highest performers— CEOs, athletes, and leaders. They don’t rely on willpower alone; they surround themselves with experts, trainers, and coaches who elevate their potential. If you want to level up your life, the same logic applies. The best investments are those that guarantee lifelong returns. Your mind, body, and well-being are your greatest assets. When you invest in them, everything else falls into
place.
So the real question isn’t, “Can I afford to invest in myself?” It’s “Can I afford not to?”

Agape Healing Arts is a sanctuary in the heart of Jupiter founded by Drs. Keith and Bella Cini, a couple whose individual paths led them to a shared mission of empowering others through holistic healing.
The journey of Agape Healing Arts was born out of a deep commitment to helping people heal, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually, with love as the foundation of their work.
Dr. Keith’s journey into healing started in an unexpected place. Before he became a healer, he worked in the world of VIP security, guarding high-profile clients like Madonna, Prince, and Dolce & Gabbana. Though he had a front-row seat to the world of fame and fortune, something always felt off. After the traumatic events of 9/11, he had an epiphany about the need for healing and transformation in his life. This realization led him to leave his career in security behind and transition into the world of holistic healing. Dr. Keith’s exploration of healing modalities took him deep into the study of Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and Native American healing traditions. He eventually combined these influences to create a life centered on helping others heal. In 2013, Dr. Keith and Dr. Bella opened Agape Healing Arts, a clinic built on the principle of unconditional love, Agape, in Greek, and grounded in the belief that true wellness comes from healing with faith, not fear.
In addition to his passion for holistic medicine, Dr. Keith’s athletic background also played an important role in his journey. He was a defensive middle guard for Hillsdale College’s National Championship football team and a three-time All-State wrestler. After suffering multiple concussions and injuries, Dr. Keith became interested in supporting athletes through recovery and injury rehabilitation. His work with Ricky Williams, the 1998 Heisman Trophy winner, through the Upledger Concussion Program, was a pivotal moment in his healing journey. Today, Dr. Keith brings his expertise in sports medicine, Chinese Medicine, and

holistic healing together to support individuals in their recovery, helping them overcome physical pain and trauma.
Dr. Bella’s path into the world of holistic healing began in 1997 when she discovered midwifery and immediately felt a deep connection to the work. “I found midwifery and knew this was my calling,” she says.
“Supporting women through one of the most transformative experiences of their life, childbirth, was something I felt deep in my heart.”
She pursued certification as a midwife and, by 2000, was not only
a licensed midwife in Florida but also a licensed massage therapist. Becoming a massage therapist was a natural extension of her desire to support pregnant women through their journeys, using bodywork as a tool for comfort and healing.
In 2002, while raising a young family, Dr. Bella enrolled in acupuncture school at the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale. She went on to complete her acupuncture training and became a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine in 2007. Throughout her studies, Dr. Bella continued to raise children and
worked at various doctors’ offices in Jupiter, expanding her understanding of holistic health and deepening her commitment to supporting women through all stages of life. Her entire career has been devoted to helping women not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually, empowering them to reclaim their health, vitality, and sense of self.
Together, Dr. Keith and Dr. Bella have created a space where they offer comprehensive and integrative care. Their approach combines many different healing modalities, including acupuncture, lymphatic therapy, Mayan abdominal therapy, craniosacral therapy, herbal medicine, and colon hydrotherapy. Their clinic also offers diagnostic services such as the DUTCH test and thermography, supporting clients with holistic assessments of their health. “We don’t just treat symptoms,” says Dr. Bella. “We get to the root cause of imbalance, and we empower our clients to heal themselves.”
A key part of their approach is their belief in empowerment over dependency. “Our philosophy is not, ‘You’re broken; we will fix you.’ No. We empower you to heal,” Dr. Bella explains. Their treatment sessions are designed to not only address physical ailments but to create space for emotional and
spiritual growth, ensuring that clients feel more aligned and connected with their body’s flow and vitality after each session. In addition to the therapies, Drs. Bella and Keith customize three-month wellness protocols for their clients, teaching them self-care techniques and offering support along the way.
Beyond their healing work, Dr. Keith and Dr. Bella are deeply committed to their community. They have opened their studio to the public, hosting workshops that include
sound healing, transformational breath-work, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and meditation. These offerings reflect their belief that wellness is a holistic journey that encompasses mind, body, and spirit. At Agape Healing Arts, the focus is not only on individual healing but on creating a community of support, education, and empowerment. Every treatment is infused with love, and the goal is to help each person who walks through their door experience true wellness and holistic health.

Ah, the dreaded sand trap.Aseemingly innocent expanse of granular terrain that can quickly turn a promising round into a frustrating slog. But fear not, fellow golfers! While sand traps present a unique challenge, they’re not insurmountable. With the right technique and a calm demeanor, you can learn to escape the sand and minimize the damage to your scorecard.
Understanding the Sand Trap Challenge:
The key difference between hitting from the fairway and the sand is that you’re not aiming to hit the ball directly. Instead, you’re aiming to hit the sand behind the ball, using the resulting explosion to propel it out. This requires a shift in mindset and technique.
Essential Techniques for Sand Trap Success:
1. Stance and Setup:
•Wide Stance: Create a stable base by widening your stance slightly more than usual. This helps prevent swaying and provides a solid foundation for the swing.
•Dig In: Dig your feet into the sand for added stability. This also helps you gauge the depth of the sand, which is crucial for determining how much sand to take.
•Open Clubface: An open clubface (pointing slightly right for a righthanded golfer) increases the loft and helps the ball rise out of the sand.
•Ball Position: Position the ball slightly forward in your stance.
•Grip: Grip down slightly on the club for better control.
The Swing:
•Focus on the Sand: Visualize hitting the sand a couple of inches behind the ball. This is the crucial element of a successful sand shot.
•Steep Angle of Attack: A steeper swing path is essential for creating the sand explosion. Think of it as a “V” shape rather than a sweeping “U.”
•Full Swing: Commit to a full swing, even for short distances. Fear of
hitting the ball too far often leads to tentative swings and poor results.
•Accelerate Through Impact: Don’t decelerate as you hit the sand. Maintain acceleration through the impact zone to create a powerful explosion.
•Follow Through: Ensure a complete follow-through, finishing with your chest turned towards the target.
Reading the Sand:
•Sand Depth: The depth of the sand will affect how much sand you need to take. Deeper sand requires a more aggressive swing.
•Sand Consistency: Wet, heavy sand requires a different approach than dry, fluffy sand. Be prepared to adjust your swing accordingly.
•Lie of the Ball: A buried lie requires a steeper swing and more sand. A clean lie allows for a slightly less aggressive approach.
Club Selection:
•Sand Wedge: The sand wedge is your primary weapon in the sand trap. Its high loft and wide sole(bounce) are designed for sand shots.
•Lob Wedge: For very short and high shots, a lob wedge can be useful.
Common Mistakes to Avoid:
•Hitting the Ball First: This is the most common mistake. Remember, you’re hitting the sand inches behind
the ball.
•Decelerating: Slowing down during the swing will result in a weak shot.
•Trying to Scoop the Ball: This often leads to thin shots or bladed shots that fly across the green.
•Fear and Tension: Relax and trust your technique. Tension will only hinder your swing.
Perfect Practice Makes Perfect:
Like any aspect of golf, mastering sand shots requires practice. Head to the practice bunker and experiment with different techniques. Focus on hitting the sand consistently.
Mental Game:
Sand traps can be mentally daunting. Stay positive and focus on executing your technique. Remember that even the best golfers find themselves in the sand from time to time. Learn to like the sand, it is actually preferred to grass by professionals.
By understanding the principles of sand play and practicing diligently, you can transform your sand trap woes into a source of confidence.
So, the next time you find yourself in the sand, take a deep breath, trust your swing, and escape with grace.
