Season is in full swing and this month we’re celebrating our love of Jupiter, and well, love itself. With the theme of “love local,” we’re focusing this issue on all the things we love about the town and the many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, whether you have a special someone or not.
You’ll find stories about some of the most romantic restaurants in the area, a guide to the local singles scene, ideas for date nights - from axe throwing to sunset cruises - as well as columns on self love and ways to stay strong mentally and emotionally if you’re alone on the holiday. Our real estate writer shares why so many people are falling head over heels for Jupiter, and you’ll get to meet a local chiropractor who is winning hearts by embracing new and innovative techniques.
If you like to paddle or kayak, don’t miss our expert’s guide to a special place where you can paddle through mangrove tunnels to a secluded beach. And our travel advisor has recommendations for where you can enjoy a luxurious and romantic weekend getaway without having to travel far from home.
I wanted to mention that all of our monthly content also lives on our website, jupiterinflucencer.com, so if you find a story that you would like to share with friends or on social media, you can find the link easily. As space is no issue, you’ll also find additional bonus photos and other content that we don’t have room for in print.
This is the fifth issue of ‘The Influencer Jupiter’ and we’ve been feeling the love from readers. Thank you for helping make this magazine a success and inspiring us with your feedback and ideas. If you have a great story that you think your friends and neighbors should know about, please email us at editorial@jupiterinfluencer.com.

Looking for love within a romantic relationship? Start by nurturing the most important one that you are in…the relationship with yourself! A consistent, positive self-image can help us identify what our needs are within a relationship, making us more likely to discover lasting and meaningful connections. In our competitive, outcome-based society, there is not enough emphasis on the importance of working towards developing confidence and acceptance through self-love. On the other end of the continuum, focusing solely on positive thinking without addressing negative thoughts/emotions can be limiting. The goal is to find a balance and achieve more healthy, realistic thoughts.
Many individuals seeking therapy encounter what we psychologists refer to as cognitive distortions, which are unrealistic, negative, and critical thinking patterns that can lead to debilitating anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Think of it like having your own personal internal coach knocking you down, limiting your confidence, and preventing you from making healthy choices within relationships. This kind of unchecked criticism over time can limit a person from reaching their potential and experiencing more satisfying relationships and lives.
There are a variety of proven benefits to having a more accepting and positive inner dialogue. Advantages include increasing serotonin levels, decreased depression rates, lower stress levels, increased resilience in
the face of challenges, and better immune functioning and cardiovascular health, all of which can result in improved life satisfaction. Some research suggests that having a consistent positive outlook in the face of hardship can even prolong your life by as long as 15 percent even after accounting for diet and exercise!
It is important to be mindful of your inner thoughts and feelings, which can be challenging when one never needs to be alone with their thoughts due to the constant distraction of technology. My clients describe using social media, podcasts, or music as a means of distracting from their inner thoughts and feelings, especially at bedtime. Much like the old game “Wack-A-Mole,” you can suppress those thoughts and feelings down for a period of time, but they always find a way of popping back up. So, it would be wise to learn strategies to more effectively examine and deal with those thoughts/feelings so that we can grow and lead happier lives.
• Use mindfulness to identify negative thoughts.
• Challenge the thoughts (Is this really true? How else can I look at this? What would I say to a friend/ child? Will this still bother me in a year?)
• Replace with more positive, realistic thoughts.

It can be challenging when you’re single, especially with social media bombarding us with happy couples and grand romantic gestures. Here’s the thing: your relationship status does not define your worth! Valentine’s Day can be an opportunity to celebrate your most important relationship - the one you have with yourself. Here are six practical and empowering ways to stay mentally and emotionally strong on the 14th:
1. Redefine the Day
Instead of focusing on romantic love, use Valentine’s Day to celebrate all forms of love in your life. This could include self-love, friendships, or even your love for your pets. Make it a day about gratitude for the people and things that bring you joy.
2. Plan a Self-Care Day
Treat yourself to activities that make you feel good. Whether it is a spa day at home, a walk on the beach, trying a new hobby or cooking your favorite meal, focus on things that nourish your soul. Self-care is not selfishit is essential.
3. Connect With Your Tribe!
Reach out to friends - single or not - and plan a fun activity. A Galentine’s Day celebration, a movie night, or even a Zoom call with your favorite people can remind you of the love and support you already have.
4. Unplug from Social Media
If scrolling through perfectly curated couple photos feels overwhelming, permit yourself to log off. Use that time to journal, meditate, or exercise. Keeping your hands busy
can help you resist the urge to pick up the phone out of boredom. Protecting your mental health is more important than staying updated on other people’s feeds.
5. Focus on Personal Growth
Set a goal for yourself and use Valentine’s Day as a milestone to check your progress. Whether fitness, learning a new skill, or enhancing your mindset, investing in yourself is always a win!
6. Practice Gratitude
Write down three things for which you are grateful. This helps to shift your focus from what you feel you are missing to the abundance in your life. Gratitude has a way of grounding us and reminding us of what truly matters.
Remember: Feelings Are Temporary
If you’re feeling down, know that’s okay. Allow yourself to feel your emotions without judgment and remind yourself that this moment will pass. You are resilient and capable of navigating the challenging days.
Celebrate YOU!
Remember, Valentine’s Day is just one day, but your self-love and strength are forever. Use this time to honor yourself and embrace the incredible person you are. You’ve got this!

Love is in the air — and on the tables, as area restaurants gird up for the big night for romantics.
This isn’t the time for the big, noisy room meal. Intimate tables are more likely at the smaller spots, or by a little collaboration with a manager to make it happen.
Reservations should have been made yesterday, but you can still try your favorite spot. Many restaurants add service slots to Valentine’s Day and prioritize reservations for two. Be aware, however, that some do impose a time limit at the table.
Others take the menu down to a few popular choices, with limited substitutions available as well.
There are creative options if you miss out.
First, think outside the clock — and calendar. Love is love anytime.
Ask for the last reservation; everyone wants in between 7 and 8:30. Be the 10 or 11 o’clock diner just once — pretend you’re European. Or maybe you are.
At any hour, show some love to the servers, especially tonight. They’re handling more amateurs than any other restaurant time. Tip well.
Another option: Reserve for Valentine’s Day eve,

when service is likely not so rushed, a full menu is available, and you won’t be just another two-top. Dine out that Thursday, call ahead to make it special with a favorite dish or champagne. Bring the roses, but save the candy and gift for the 14th. All is well.
A wiser move: Do an overnight at a hotel with a good

restaurant. Guests get in with preference before the public; but you should make the dining reservation at the same time as the room. If, by any chance you don’t get a table, then you can get room service, and eat in your pajamas.
The Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa, directly on the beach in Jupiter, has a romantic feel in its main dining room at Latitudes. Warm woods and soft lighting and that coveted ocean view make for a cozy atmosphere. A clever “spirits room” is glassed in, and diners can view the mixologists at work.
Chef Ricky Gopeesingh oversees a coastal seafood menu with creativity and experience.
Oysters are a given (aphrodisiac, allegedly). They’re featured on the signature seafood tower that includes stone crab, king crab, shrimp and lobsters that arrives in an iced, layered tray with accompaniments. It’s plenty for a meal, though half-portions of entrees are available for lighter eaters.
Also offered: options for vegetarians and vegans.

Dine under the stars by booking the pavilion at Evo in Tequesta, where Chef Erik Pettersen works his magic with an Italian menu.
The food carries the romance here, whether it’s the wagyu carpaccio or the chef’s Sunday sauce and his grandmother’s meatballs.
Order from the appetizer list to make a grazing couple’s meal. Maybe whipped ricotta-stuffed squash, and the lobster bruschetta in a sherry cream sauce over grilled crostini with a good Italian red.
Pastas are a list unto themselves. Vegetarians who eat cheese should go for the cacio e pepe after one of the many salad choices.
A sweet ending is in the ricotta cheesecake, or the tiramisu.
Evo Italian, 150 U.S. Highway 1, Tequesta. Phone 561-745-2444; online, evoitalian.com.
You can go a little French on this lovers’ day. The Parisian Restaurant and Wine Bar is owned by a native Parisian who knows something of that city of romance. Tarzi Cenador transplants it to his plates at the small brasserie-style spot in the Shoppes of Jupiter.
For Valentine’s Day, a special menu is at play with a wine and champagne pairing. The meal is $180 with two wines or champagnes, or $160 sans alcohol.
Diners can choose three courses from a French classics menu that includes starters such as a foie gras terrine, or onion soup gratinee, or mussels Provencale.
The fish/meat selections feature herb-crusted Chilean
seabass with a mango beurre blanc, or a duck breast with a brandy sweet and sour sauce, or filet mignon with a Cognac peppercorn sauce and homemade pomme frites. Shrimp and lamb are other choices.
The rich desserts are what take you to your dreams — or so a French pastry chef once said. Flourless chocolate cake, profiteroles filled with ice cream and drizzled in chocolate, mixed berry crepes or crème brulee are the choices.
A live jazz band will provide the entertainment.

If you really want to stretch the possibilities and
splurge, take a sunset cruise with Ryan and Amy Smith at Salt Tribe Charters . For $1500 (plus tax and tip) you can book the Ava, a 42’ motor yacht. It can accommodate up to six passengers.
They pick up at the U-Tiki docks, and cruise the Intracoastal for three hours along Jupiter Island and beyond.
It offers shaded seating, two heads and leather sofas.
Light snacks and non alcoholic drinks are provided, but you can bring your own food and drink with the exception of red wine. “It stains,” Amy Smith explained.

Love comes in many forms, and for parents, it often means finding creative ways to care for their little ones while nurturing the world they’ll grow up in. One delightful way to show love for your child, your community, and the planet is through children’s resale clothing and upcycling.
In a world full of ever-growing closets and endless growth spurts, upcycling and reselling offer practical, heartwarming solutions. Resale clothing for children is a treasure trove of opportunities - a chance to discover unique, high-quality pieces at a fraction of their original cost. But beyond the financial savings, there’s an undeniable charm in passing along a well-loved onesie, a pair of sneakers, or that party dress with plenty of twirls left in it.
Upcycling is more than just a trendy buzzword. It’s a way to show love for the environment by reducing waste and giving items a second life. Every piece of clothing that finds a new home instead of heading to a landfill is a small yet significant step toward sustainability. The fashion industry, especially fast fashion, is a major contributor to global waste. Choosing resale helps reduce this impact while teaching children about the value of recycling.
For parents, resale shopping is like a treasure hunt— you never know what gems you’ll uncover. From
brand-name outfits to handmade accessories, resale shops often have an eclectic mix that sparks creativity. Dressing your child becomes an adventure in personal expression, all while staying kind to your wallet. Resale also fosters a sense of community. When families bring their gently used items to stores like Kid to Kid Palm Beach Gardens, they’re not only decluttering their homes but also creating opportunities for other families to benefit. It’s a beautiful cycle of giving and receiving, rooted in the idea that what we share with others enriches us all.
Shopping resale is an excellent way to teach kids about love - not just for things, but for people and the planet. By involving them in choosing items and explaining the impact of upcycling, you instill values of compassion and resourcefulness. These lessons can spark lifelong habits that extend beyond clothing to every aspect of sustainable living.
After all, love - in its purest form - is about making thoughtful choices that brighten the world for future generations.

The humble kitchen backsplash has evolved from a purely practical feature to one of the most striking elements of the Jupiter area kitchen design. Once limited to simple tiles and neutral tones, backsplashes are now being used as statement pieces that reflect personality, creativity, and style.
Unique materials are at the forefront of this trend. Instead of traditional ceramic tiles, homeowners are opting for unconventional options like marble slabs, metallic finishes, mirrored glass, or even hand-painted tiles. Marble, with its natural veining, offers a luxurious and timeless appeal, while metallics like copper or brushed gold add warmth and glamour. Several stone option lend themselves to backlighting, creating a luxurious lighting option.
Geometric patterns and bold shapes are also making waves. Designers are experimenting with hexagonal tiles, herringbone layouts, and intricate mosaics to create visual intrigue. Paired with contrasting grout colors, these designs can amplify the backsplash’s role as a focal point.
Another emerging trend is the use of large, seamless panels for backsplashes. Materials like quartz, porcelain,
or acrylic sheets provide a sleek and modern look, minimizing grout lines for easy cleaning. These expansive surfaces are perfect for showcasing dramatic textures or patterns, turning the backsplash into a work of art.
Color is another way backsplashes are taking center stage. From jewel tones like emerald green and sapphire blue to pastel pinks and bold blacks, vibrant backsplashes add personality and flair to the kitchen.
For those seeking a touch of creativity, custom murals or hand-painted designs can make a backsplash truly one-of-a-kind. These bespoke pieces transform kitchens into personalized spaces that tell a story.
In today’s kitchens, backsplashes are more than just protective surfaces—they are a canvas for self-expression, helping homeowners create kitchens that are as stunning as they are functional.

Herringbone (from left), Chevron, and Parquet flooring each offer distinct looks for modern interiors.
By Ashlee Moore and Mike Haas
Herringbone, Chevron, and Parquet add texture, depth, and visual interest to a room. These patterns transform floors into focal points, enhancing the overall design of a space. Whether you prefer the subtle elegance of Herringbone, the modern edge of Chevron, or the artistic flair of Parquet, these flooring trends offer timeless appeal with a contemporary twist.
The Herringbone pattern (pictured above) is characterized by planks laid in a zigzag pattern, with each piece meeting at a 90-degree angle. This design exudes sophistication and works well in both traditional and modern settings. Herringbone can make narrow spaces appear larger by drawing the eye along its dynamic lines. It’s a versatile choice, often used in living rooms, dining areas, or even hallways for a touch of elegance.
Chevron
Similar to Herringbone, the Chevron pattern creates a zigzag effect but with a twist: planks are cut at an angle,

forming perfect points. This alignment results in a cleaner, more streamlined look that feels contemporary and chic. Chevron flooring is ideal for creating a statement floor in large spaces, such as open-plan living areas or entryways. Its symmetry and precision bring a polished and luxurious feel to any room.
Parquet flooring is a classic pattern that features intricate geometric designs, such as squares, diamonds, or triangles. Originating in 16th-century France, Parquet has regained popularity as a way to add character and artistry to interiors. It’s commonly used in upscale homes and heritage properties, though modern interpretations can complement minimalist decor.
Wood flooring is a timeless choice that adds warmth and elegance to any space. Recently, patterned wood floors have seen a resurgence, with herringbone, chevron, and parquet leading the way in popularity. These patterns combine classic craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, making them a top choice for modern interiors.

When it comes to Jupiter home décor, sectionals, sofas and chairs are the centerpieces that blend style, comfort, and functionality. Whether you’re looking to revamp your living room or create a cozy nook, selecting the right seating options is key. A significant decision in this process is choosing between slipcovers and upholstery, as well as deciding on fabric or leather materials.
Slipcovers offer versatility and ease of maintenance. A brand like Four Seasons Furniture is renowned for its high-quality slipcovered seating. They’re ideal for families, pet owners, or anyone prone to spills. With slipcovers, you can effortlessly change the look of your furniture by swapping them out for different colors or patterns. They’re also machine washable, making them a practical choice for high-traffic areas. These have become common with Jupiter area homeowners with children and those who regularly entertain guests.
On the other hand, upholstered furniture provides a more tailored and polished look. Upholstery stays in place, offering a sleek, seamless appearance that can elevate the sophistication of a room. However, it requires professional cleaning for stains and may not be as easy to update when trends change. Upholstered furniture is perfect for low traffic areas and secondary seating areas, such as bedrooms and office spaces.
The choice between fabric and leather often comes down to lifestyle and aesthetic preferences. Fabric upholstery offers endless options in terms of
patterns, colors, and textures. It’s soft and cozy, making it perfect for lounging. Consider durable, performance fabric blends for homes with kids or pets. Fabrics also provide a warm feel that compliments casual or eclectic interiors.
Leather, on the other hand, exudes luxury and sophistication. For those who value luxury and durability, Omnia Leather is a top choice. Specializing in leather furniture, this brand has become popular in the Jupiter area due to it delivering exceptional quality and unparalleled comfort. It’s durable and ages beautifully, often developing a rich patina over time. Leather is easy to clean and hypoallergenic, but it can feel cold in winter and sticky in summer.
When choosing sofas and chairs, think about how each piece will complement your lifestyle and existing décor. Whether you’re looking for slipcovered, upholstered, fabric, or leather options, one of the options is the JMD brand, providing budget-friendly choices without compromising on quality. Opt for slipcovers if you crave flexibility and easy upkeep, or go for upholstery for a refined, cohesive look. Decide on fabric for comfort and variety or leather for durability and elegance. By combining color, texture, and comfort, you can create a space that feels uniquely yours.

We are so incredibly fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful places, with an abundance of places that we can share with our loved ones, and our dogs. The majority of our beaches, so many of our parks, and of course, lots of the outdoor restaurant offerings, are also dog friendly to well-behaved dogs.
One of my favorite things to do is take my dog to Marshals or Home Goods, and let them pick out a bone or toy, and then head over to the beach.
Here are a few more spots and ideas to consider
1. Jupiter Dog Beach
Jupiter is home to one of Florida’s few remaining dogfriendly beaches. The designated off-leash area spans a 2.5-mile stretch from beach marker #26 at Marcinski Road north to beach marker #57 at the Carlin Park property line. It will be important to ensure your dog is responsive under voice control. Remember to bring fresh water and shade for your pet.
2. Jupiter Outdoor Center
For adventurous duos, the Jupiter Outdoor Center offers dog-friendly kayak and paddleboard rentals. Explore the scenic waterways together, but don’t forget a life vest for your dog.
3. Salty Dog Paddle
Salty Dog Paddle provides private pet-friendly paddleboarding lessons in the Intracoastal waters of Jupiter. Certified instructors offer boards suitable for dogs and supply life jackets in all sizes. Private lessons are available at Harbourside Place Boat Docks or Coral Cove.
4. Dog-Friendly Restaurants
After a day of activities, you can dine at several
dog-friendly restaurants in Jupiter. Options include U-Tiki Beach, Little Moir’s Food Shack, Tiki 52, and The Twisted Tuna, all of which welcome well-behaved dogs, in their outdoor seating areas.
Note: Prior to visiting these restaurants, it’s advisable to check their “current pet policies” as they may have changed.
I hope that you enjoy your Valentine’s and your time exploring Jupiter with your canine companion!

When it comes to taking care of your heart, there’s a lot we can do to show it some love. Eating healthy, exercising, and getting enough sleep are all great steps, but have you ever considered treating your heart to an ultrasound screening? Think of it as a mini movie starring your heart that gives your doctor a crystal-clear view of how your ticker is ticking!
What Is a Heart Ultrasound? A heart ultrasound, also called an echocardiogram, is a painless, non-invasive test that uses sound waves to create pictures of your heart in action. This test shows how your heart beats and how blood flows through its chambers and valves. Pretty neat, right?
Why Should You Consider One? Here’s the scoop: an ultrasound screening of your heart can detect problems before they become big issues. Whether it’s high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, or signs of heart disease, this test gives your doctor the tools to catch them early and keep you feeling fabulous.
Top Benefits of a Heart Ultrasound Screening
1. Peace of Mind: Knowing your heart is healthy gives you one less thing to worry about.
2. Early Detection: Catching issues early means more options and better outcomes.
3. No Pain, All Gain: It’s quick, easy, and completely painless. Just lay back and let the machine do its magic.
4. Custom Care: The results give your doctor valuable insights to tailor your healthcare plan just for you.
Who Should Get a Heart Ultrasound? While anyone can benefit, this screening is especially great for people with a family history of heart problems, those who have symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath, folks with high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol, or anyone over 40 who wants to be proactive about their health.
Heart Screening = Heart Happiness. Taking care of your heart isn’t just about living longer - it’s about living better! When your heart is in good shape, you have more energy to do the things you love, whether that’s playing pickleball, paddleboarding, surfing, dancing, or experiencing new adventures.
Ready to Get Started? Treat your heart to the attention it deserves with a quick and easy ultrasound screening. It’s a small step with huge benefits - because when it comes to your heart, there’s no such thing as too much love.
Schedule your heart ultrasound today, and let’s keep that beautiful heart of yours healthy and happy for years to come!

February is a month dedicated to love and connection, making it the perfect time to prioritize your heart’s health and well-being. At Agape Healing Arts, we’re celebrating American Heart Awareness Month by offering a unique opportunity to nurture both your physical and emotional connection with your partner: a Couples Healing Session designed to align hearts, harmonize energy, and deepen bonds.
This one-of-a-kind experience blends aromatherapy, acupuncture, and sound healing into a deeply restorative session. Aromatherapy calms the senses, acupuncture balances the body’s energy, and sound healing creates a sense of harmony, fostering connection between you and your beloved. The session is not only a beautiful way to celebrate your relationship but also a powerful method for promoting heart health and overall wellness.
Heart health is more than a metaphor for love; it’s a vital aspect of your overall well-being. Heart disease affects 1 in 3 adults in the United States, making it the leading cause of death. The heart beats over 100,000 times each day and pumps 2,000 gallons of blood, tirelessly supporting your body. Yet, many of us neglect this vital organ in the hustle of daily life.
Caring for your heart begins with mindful practices that support physical, emotional, and energetic well-be-
ing. Regular movement strengthens the heart and enhances circulation, while diaphragmatic breathing helps balance blood pressure and reduces stress hormones. Reducing sugar and cholesterol intake protects blood vessels, while adequate sleep and rest provide your heart with the recovery it needs.
Embracing positive emotions like kindness, gratitude, and compassion not only strengthens your heart but also elevates your energetic flow and deepens your connection with others. Practices like meditation and sound healing can help release emotional blockages and restore balance.
This February, celebrate love in all its forms. Honor your heart, nurture your relationships, and create space for intentional healing. Through care and connection, you can align your energy and embrace a healthier, more harmonious life.

Phoneme: The smallest change that can be made to a word to change its meaning.
Oronym: A word or a phrase that sounds similar to another word or phrase but has a different meaning. When it comes to hearing issues, small changes can make a big difference. If you have trouble hearing you may be a culprit of creating meaning from the wrong interpretation of what was said. This is fairly common when it comes to listening to one-on-one conversations, groups of people and especial when there is background noise. When we can’t truly hear what the person or persons are saying, our mind fills in the blanks with what seems to fit best.
These misheard words are called Oronyms. When we mishear words our brain employs them, particularly with those who have trouble hearing. Unlike homonyms where the words sound the same with different spelling (e.g. there, their) there is a specific region of the brain called the angular gyrus that uses previous knowledge to fill in gaps with predictable words. If you are missing whole phrases or even just the first or last syllable of a word, this is the section of the brain that completes the sentence for you without you consciously having to employ this method. If you hear the waiter say the fish of the day is “sal,” your brain will fill in the missing “mon.”
As hearing loss progresses we start to lose the ability to distinguish between different phonemes where a small change makes a big difference in our interpretation of the words we are hearing. When this happens
the angular gyrus will fill in these gaps with incorrect information causing words and sentences to be misunderstood. Take songs like Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising,” where we hear “Don’t come around tonight, it’s bound to take all night. There’s a bathroom on the right” but the lyrics are actually “Don’t go around tonight, well it’s bound to take your life. Theres a bad moon on the rise.” Or Queen’s operatic hit “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The lyrics can be heard as “Saving his life from this warm sausage tea,” however the lyrics really are “Spare him his life from this monstrosity.”.
While these are anecdotal and humorous examples they do flow over into real life situations. With hearing loss missing these small phonemes can make a big difference in the way we interpret speech and understanding. Hearing loss is something that we will all experience, whether it’s noise induced or just due to the normal aging process. A prescribed, professionally fit and programed, high quality hearing device can help bring these small changes in words (phonemes) more clear while removing confusion (oronyms) and make everyday conversation in quiet and noisy environments easier and more enjoyable.

Take a romantic Valentine’s Day paddle adventure to a secluded beach! A short car ride north on US 1 to Cove Road takes you into neighboring Martin County. The launch is located on the Indian River Lagoon which spans from the Ponce Inlet to the Jupiter Inlet and is widely known as the most biodiverse body of water in the continental United States.
Cove Road Park, a county managed park with minimal amenities, is where you put in. There is limited parking and no restrooms, just a couple of covered picnic tables and a trash receptacle, so plan accordingly. This location provides direct access to St. Lucie Inlet State Park. Accessible only by water, it has mangrove tunnel paddle trails, a secluded beach and a lagoon known as the Hole in The Wall located on the south side of the St. Lucie Inlet.
This tidal creek paddling trail is best enjoyed at high tide. Your feet will sink ankle deep into the soft, mucky ground exposed at low tide and swallow your slip-on water shoe if you attempt to walk it. The 10:26 a.m. high tide on Valentine’s Day makes for a great morning paddle with glassy water as winds tend to pick up as the day goes on.
Paddles in the water at 8 a.m. should allow plenty of time for a leisurely paddle out and back. Cross the channel and paddle south along the east side of the Intracoastal to the mangrove trail that leads into the lagoon. A short paddle south inside the lagoon to the end is where you will find the beach access. Beach your equipment and walk down the sea grape tunnel path to the ocean. Support the park by paying the $2 park fee at the collection box run on the honor system.
If time allows, complete the whole trail when you leave the beach by paddling north through the winding mangrove tunnels known as “The Narrows.” This route takes you under the state park boardwalk and loops back out to the Intracoastal for a return with the incoming tide to Cove Road Park. Pack a soft sided cooler and bring a camera. Minimal boat traffic in the lagoon provides a quiet haven for manatees, porpoises, roseate spoonbills and even bald eagles. Prefer a guide? Reach out and let’s paddle off the beaten path together!
For over 15 years, Alex has immersed herself in the local paddling community as a guide, instructor, coach and local advocate. New paddlers are her specialty.

When Marlin Meldonian was little, he would accompany his mother, who had been in a bad car accident before he was born, to the chiropractor.
“I’d sit underneath the table, look up at her, and she made all the little hoots and hollers, and I would just laugh at her,” Meldonian says. “It was a ball.”
Now Meldonian – who says it’s just easier to say Dr. Marlin than pronounce his last name – practices out of his own office on Indiantown Road. His longtime girlfriend, Tabitha Ayotte, manages the practice. Of course, it’s called Marlin Chiropractic.
Meldonian was thinking of calling it Swordfish Chiropractic until one of his buddies piped up. “He’s like, ‘Dude, your name’s Marlin. Like, you’re in Jupiter.’”
Meldonian has a laid-back approach and at 31 a youthful – and refreshing – style to patient care. He takes a unique philosophy to healing, knowing that many patients have preconceived views of chiropractic treatment.
“They’re very kind of used to the oldschool hustle and bustle. Come in, get your neck cracked, and maybe get a little electric stim,” Meldonian said.
“For me, I kind of do it the opposite way. I do the soft tissue work, I do the massage therapy. I make sure that all of that is well, happy and dandy before we kind of dive into the adjustments –if that’s even needed for those areas.”
Electric stimulation – stim – is a common practice among chiropractors, using pulses to contract muscles to imitate brain signals. Yet, Meldonian turns it on its head and becomes the equivalent of the massage superhero.
Meldonian uses what is called a PEMF Machine – about as big as a small backpack – that pulsates the electric current through his body and out of his hands.
“It allows me to get into the tissue. It allows me to see what muscles are contracting, and what aren’t working,” he said. “We can start to activate
Dr. Marlin Meldonian opened his practice in Jupiter in 2023. He uses non-traditional methods to help patients. ‘He’ll go out of his way,’ one said. certain muscle groups. And we can go all the way up and even get into entire nerve complexes. And we can go for the vagus nerve.”
The patient is electrically grounded through the treatment. It is something to experience.
Even though Meldonian was exposed to chiropractic via his mother – a well-known underwater photographer – as a child, his route to becoming one was rather circuitous.
He started out aiming to be a
medical doctor but he became disenchanted with the focus on pharmaceuticals. “You give the muscle relaxer, some ibuprofen. If that doesn’t work, then you send them to the neurologist or osteopath,” Meldonian said. “And I was like, wait, we’re skipping like so much.” He changed course from pre-med at the University of Florida and started focusing on vertebrate studies. From there, he became a licensed massage therapist. “My mom wasn’t
‘He is like the only person who has been able to help me’
happy,” he recalls.
He then went to chiropractic school at Keiser University in West Palm Beach and after working as an associate for a few years opened up his practice in 2023 in Jupiter. Why Jupiter? The same reason as everybody else. It’s beautiful.
“I always wanted to live in Jupiter, because that’s where we would come up here to surf,” he said.
Meldonian’s practice has grown in part around clientele who are professional trainers and bodybuilders – the latter are some of the most renowned bodybuilders in the world.
Trainer Binky Malone called Meldonian “my hero.” Malone has struggled with chronic pain issues for years.
“He is like the only person who has been able to help me,” Malone said. “He has gone outside the box.”
Malone said Meldonian also is hands-on with patients. “He’ll go out of his way to do anything for you,”
Meldonian’s practice has grown in part around clientele who are professional trainers and bodybuilders, some of them the most renowned in the world. she said.
And “hands-on” is exactly what Meldonian prefers when it comes to his patients.
He did work in traditional chiropractic, hooking people up to machines, and letting the machines do the work. But Meldonian wanted to be able to holistically treat patients.
“Our treatments are tailored to each individual person rather than the cookie-cutter approach of the industry,” he said.

On November 30, 2013, almost 3-year-old Jake Morrison quietly slipped out a back door while visiting family during the holidays. Tragically, he fell off a dock, and despite every effort to revive him, Jake’s life was heartbreakingly cut short.
“We were in the room with him while they tried so hard to bring him back to us. We still remember every second so clearly, screaming for our baby to come back, all the while knowing he had gone straight to Heaven,” recalls Keri Morrison, Jake’s mother.
Enduring the unimaginable loss of a child is every parent’s worst nightmare. Yet, from this profound grief, Keri found a purpose by creating a legacy for Jake and works tirelessly toward a world where no child drowns.
In 2014, Keri founded the Live Like Jake Foundation to raise awareness about childhood drowning prevention and provide life-saving self-rescue swim scholarships for families unable to afford them.
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children aged one to four, and Keri is determined to change that devastating statistic.
The foundation offers financial and emotional support to families affected by drowning accidents, while also providing swimming lessons designed to prevent such tragedies. At their indoor heated pool, children as young as six months learn ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) self-rescue techniques. These critical skills, such as “Rollback to Float,” teach infants and toddlers how to roll onto their backs, float, rest, and breathe until help arrives.
To date, the Live Like Jake Foundation has awarded over 4,000 ISR scholarships, saving countless lives and creating a ripple effect of safety and awareness. Keri’s mission is unwavering: “We will not stop until

Nestled along the southeastern coast of Florida, Jupiter has become one of the most desirable real estate markets in the Sunshine State. Known for its pristine beaches, top-rated schools, and upscale amenities, this vibrant community offers a unique blend of small-town charm and sophisticated living. Over the past decade, Jupiter’s real estate market has experienced remarkable growth, attracting a mix of families, retirees, and high-net-worth individuals.
Jupiter’s real estate continues to boom, with median home prices reaching $800,000 in 2024—a 12% yearover-year increase, according to the Florida Realtors Association. The luxury market is especially strong, with 558 homes selling above $1 million, including 22 over $10 million. The year’s priciest sale was a $34 million estate in Admirals Cove.
Luxury properties, particularly in gated or waterfront communities, often exceed $3 million, driven by limited inventory, a robust economy, and an influx of new residents.
Fueling Jupiter’s appeal is its exceptional quality of life. Residents enjoy world-class golf courses, marinas, nature preserves, and the iconic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse—a historic landmark and symbol of the town’s coastal heritage. The highly rated school system adds to its charm, making Jupiter a prime choice for families.
Key trends shaping Jupiter’s market include:
1. Luxury Demand: Exclusive communities like Admirals Cove and Jupiter Island attract affluent buyers with unparalleled amenities.
2. Record Sales: Ultra-luxury properties, such as a $34 million estate, highlight demand for high-end real estate.
3. Remote Work Appeal: Professionals are relocating for Jupiter’s tranquility and outdoor lifestyle, increasing demand for homes with office spaces and large yards.
4. New Developments: Projects like Sonoma Isles offer modern homes with resort-style amenities.
5. Sustainable Living: Eco-friendly features like solar panels and energy-efficient designs are increasingly sought-after.
Despite its many strengths, Jupiter’s real estate market faces challenges. Land scarcity, rising costs, and competitive bidding have made affordability an issue for some buyers.
However, these challenges also present opportunities. Sellers are benefitting from escalating property values, and investors see Jupiter as a lucrative market for rental properties, particularly given the area’s appeal to seasonal residents and vacationers.
With population growth and infrastructure projects like the Brightline high-speed rail, Jupiter’s market is poised to thrive. Offering stunning waterfront estates and family-friendly neighborhoods, Jupiter remains a top choice for Florida living.
For prospective buyers, Jupiter offers more than just a place to live—it promises a lifestyle. From waterfront estates to family-friendly neighborhoods, the town’s real estate market caters to a variety of preferences and needs. Jupiter’s reputation as a coastal gem will continue to shine, making it a top choice for those seeking the best of Florida living.

Just as healthy relationships thrive on open communication, successful businesses need to understand their financial health. This isn’t about dry numbers; it’s about speaking the language of your finances.
Key Steps to Financial Success:

2. Ask the Right Questions
What are your biggest expenses? How efficiently are you using resources? How can you improve profit margins? What are your cash flow projections, and how do you ensure sufficient working capital?
3. Communicate with Your Team
Foster a culture of financial transparency. Share financial information openly with your team. Encourage discussions about performance and goals. Empower employees with the knowledge to understand the financial impact of their work.
4. Partner with a Qualified Bookkeeper
A skilled bookkeeper can significantly improve your financial efficiency and accuracy.
• Streamline Operations: Bookkeepers can efficient-
ly manage your accounting system (like QuickBooks), ensuring accurate and timely data entry.

5. Embrace Technology
Leverage technology to streamline your finances. Utilize accounting software and explore financial forecasting tools to gain valuable insights and identify potential risks.

● Choose a comfortable grip: There are various putting grips (overlapping, interlocking, reverse overlap). Find one that feels natural and promotes a smooth stroke.
● Light grip pressure: Hold the putter lightly to avoid tension and maintain control.
The Stance and Posture
● Feet shoulder-width apart: Maintain a stable base with your feet positioned comfortably apart.
● Knees slightly bent: Bend your knees slightly for balance and flexibility.
● Eyes over the ball: Position your eyes directly over the ball to ensure a clear line of sight.
The Stroke:
● Pendulum motion: Think of your stroke as a smooth pendulum motion, with the putter head moving straight back and through the ball.
● Follow-through: Complete your stroke with a smooth follow-through, keeping the putter head low to the ground. It should not pass the outside of your lead foot. This will ensure the maximum MOI is at the ball, not past the ball.
(CHEIF) Club Head, Eyes to Intermittent target, then set your feet.
● Aim at the target line: Visualize the target line and aim
the putter face square to it.
● Align your body: Position your body parallel to the target line for a consistent stroke path.
Reading the Green
● Observe the slope: Pay attention to the slope and contours of the green to determine the break of the putt.
● Consider the grain: The grain of the grass can affect the speed and direction of the putt.
● Practice reading greens: Develop your green-reading skis through practice and observation.
● Aim-Point express is a great way to learn reading slope.
Practice and Patience
● Practice regularly: Consistent practice is key to improving your putting.
● Focus on fundamentals: Master the basic techniques before attempting advanced shots.
● Be patient: Putting takes time and dedication to master. Don’t get discouraged by missed putts.
● Use a pre-shot routine and remember that perfect practice makes perfect.
Remember, putting is a mental game as much as it is a physical one. Stay focused, confident, and relaxed, and you’ll see your putting improve dramatically.
