Every parent knows the knee-trembling dread of taking a inquisitive toddler into a boutique store or the embarrassment of having nowhere to breast feed. Worst of all an emergency poo-nami situation!
Well now in Nantwich there’s somewhere to take refuge.
Bizzybods, the children’s store on Hospital Street, has created a friendly, safe space where kids can get interactive and parents can reset and have that much needed adult conversation.
Owner, Marlee Briscoe, is originally from the US but married a Dabber 6 years ago. Since she took over in January 2023 she’s been building on it’s already solid 20-year reputation by creating a new website, offering free local delivery plus a host of other new changes. We caught up with Marlee to find out how Bizzybods has been evolving.
I worked in the corporate events industry but I also had my own side business called Marlee’s Magnolia Events. Then we found out we were pregnant and it soon became pretty evident that I wouldn’t be able to do corporate events anymore so my side project, my passion, became full time.
As a new mom I was fascinated by the Montessori teachings for children, wooden toys over plastic, using organic materials, just being really aware of what children are playing with as they grow and develop. I was a customer at Bizzybods already and when I looked around I saw a lot of items I was buying for my son in the store. When I found out Mandy, the previous owner was selling, I realised that a party planning service on top of this would go incredibly well.
The idea is to build on the identity of it being a unique gift shop. We want to supply more of sustainable brands, wooden toys that you can’t find anywhere else, locally made products and clothing. We want people to be able to walk in and say, “I have a two-year-old’s birthday party. They have everything under the sun! Is there something unique or different that I could give them?”
We’ve also added a party planning service with equipment for hire, so now we have bouncy castles and next year we’ll have ball pits too. But most importantly we want to be a inviting space for parents and children. Each week we have different events like readings by local children’s authors, paediatric CPR training, baby massage and baby yoga all at the shop.
I also want to evolve what Bizzybods stands for. I left my corporate job because I felt like being a mom didn’t fit into that environment and I am not the only one. A lot of people struggle to get flexible working requests approved or even continue with their current role after becoming a parent.
What I want to be able to do is support my staff and focus on hiring caregivers who are struggling in the corporate world that have amazing talent in various different elements and provide them with a career in my shop. The idea is for Bizzybods to expand and grow into multiple shops and giving someone an opportunity to manage a shop like that may completely change their path.
Joy. Joy is always the first word. Friendly. Being everything to do with friendly. Busy! We want kids to engage and develop. I want them to be busy in my shop. Marlee couldn’t help herself and added one more… And it be fun. I just want it to be fun. You should have fun in my shop.
TFM. P.S. before you start sending messages to us on socials about how it’s ‘mum’ and not ‘mom’, we know. It just felt wrong to spell it the other way with Marlee’s amazing accent. Go in, see for yourself and tell us we are wrong.
Sisters are definitely doing it for themselves over at Paper HQ in Nantwich!
This talented female force of creatives are redefining what luxury design and print can look like for businesses and locals alike. We caught up with Creative Director Cara Green to gain some insight.
We’re a Nantwich-based design and print studio that provides ourselves on not being your average! Principally known for luxury event and wedding stationary services, our wide-reaching creative skills also offer a broad range of options for innovative businesses - we can provide branding, design and print, website development, illustration, marketing strategy and execution, photography and more.
Our experience, passion and illustrative approach elevates our customer’s brands to another level, standing out uniquely against the competition. Plus we strive to make the experience of working with us fun and exciting - as it should be!
I originally launched TLPS back in 2014 from my bedroom at home (as entrepreneurs are often inclined to do!). Largely focussed on wedding services originally, the business quickly gained a reputation for creating beautifully unique wedding stationary, printed with luxury materials and processes, and combined with a bespoke, collaborative design process for our clients to boot. We’re now proud to be on the preferred supplier list for some of the most prestigious wedding venues in the country, with a design diary that often books out months ahead. We enjoy working with couples and event planners from around the globe.
Fast forward to 2023, and as a team of 4 talented creatives, we’re also now busy sharing our original design and thought process with like-minded businesses. More than ‘just another creative team’, our paper maestros understand how to inspire and motivate your customers to purchase through clever, engaging design and imagery, and relish a new challenge!
I’d say our all-inclusive service. We can offer the full breadth of what your business might need without outsourcing, and regularly expand our offering to ensure we keep up with market trends. Whether you need photography, illustration, design, print, marketing or web development services, once we start working with a brand, we aim to become an (almost!) member of the team throughout your business journey.
Our design studio offers some of the only traditional hot foil pressing services in the Cheshire area, perfect for our customers who are looking for that next level of detail and luxury finish for their brand and stationary.
Oh - and you can expect some kick-ass design and fabulous conversation throughout too, of course!

Let’s check out JW’s on Pillory Street, Nantwich.
It’s been quite a ride since they dropped back in 2019! From dealing with lockdowns and getting used to masks and social distancing, they’ve really taken it all in stride. But you know what? JW’s never backs down; they’ve been raising the bar-ber with every fade and it’s been impressive. Short, back and side – er, nope!
JW’s is not your run-of-the-mill barber shop. It’s not about sticking to the norm or conforming; they’re all about creating and innovating. And that’s what keeps everyone coming back for more - it’s not just a haircut, it’s a whole experience, thanks to the fantastic culture that “Wardy” and the team have created.
That’s James Ward, a local entrepreneur in his twenties. Even though he might not like that term, he truly deserves the spotlight. He’s built a business where five talented local lads now make their living, which is no small feat, especially considering the challenges the industry has faced
They have a star in the making - Max “Big Max” Tudor. He’s carving out his future, one trim at a time. Starting by cutting his friends’ hair in school and then landing a Saturday job at JW’s, Max honed his skills under James’ guidance while also getting those qualifications checked off from Cheshire College. Impressive, right?
Being the visionary he is, Wardy stumbled upon Max’s work through some cool Instagram content of haircuts he had done for his friends. Impressed by Max’s modern and fresh approach, Wardy reached out and DM’d (contacted) him, kick-starting the exciting story of “Big Max” at JW’s
We had the pleasure of catching up with the man himself – Max, shared his journey with us, saying, “I’ve always had a creative streak and started experimenting with cutting hair back in school. As my skills improved, I began charging my friends for trims and even posted my best trims on an Instagram page. That’s when Wardy reached out to me.” He continued...
“ I was over the moon to start working at JW’s; it’s been a dream come true. The entire team gets along amazingly well, and we always support, but also push each other to be better. The banter is brilliant working with your mates everyday. ”
Max also wanted to shout out some important people “A special thank you has to go to my Mum and Dad for their support, they have been amazing, I also to thank Wardy for helping me on my way so far”.
The team at JW’s is simply smashing it. With Wardy, Roscoe, BK, Rhys, and Max cutting hair left and right, the shop seems to never be closed. You can spot it with those open pan windows, cool signage, and some new artist on the speaker. The atmosphere is infectious; they’re always laughing and joking around and stepping out of there, you feel “respawned” - as they like to say, and JW’s is always at the top of their game.
Next time you need a trim, you’ve got to check out JW’s. The passion, the talent and the good vibes - they’ve got it all covered!
Keep up the good work.

Nestled in the heart of Cheshire, the picturesque market town of Nantwich is known for its rich history, charming streets and warm hospitality: something we, as locals, often take for granted.
The small, quaint town that we call home; the place where we grab our groceries, a takeout coffee to kick-start our days and for catch-up drinks with friends, is radically transformed once a year. Across the first weekend in September, thousands of people from across the NorthWest congregate on the cobbled streets of Nantwich to experience the tantalising aromas and mouth-watering flavours of the Nantwich Food Festival - a hotly anticipated event that has rightly earned its reputation as one of the most popular and well-respected food festivals in the UK.
This year, THE FEED will be injecting their creative flair into the festival’s digital marketing strategy, tying into the committee’s ambition to drive more eyes on the festival across all online platforms and, with the introduction of a Social Media Tent in The Bowling Green Pub’s garden, create an engaging and interactive live event experience for the Gen Z audience.
As we eagerly anticipate the 2023 edition, let’s take a look at why this volunteer-run three-day festival continues to captivate visitors from far and wide, year after year – TFM. managed to catch up with the organising committee.
Nantwich boasts a history that stretches back centuries. Its medieval timbered buildings, archaic but vibrant streets and beautiful Georgian architecture create a picturesque backdrop for the festival, during which the town’s gourmet heritage and deep-rooted culinary traditions are showcased.
And aside from the impressive assortment of local food and drink stalls – which feature local producers, artisanal delicacies and global cuisines - the allurement of the Nantwich Food Festival lies in its family-friendly atmosphere.
From grandparents to young children, everyone is invited to partake in the festivities and the organisers have put tremendous effort into creating an inclusive environment where food lovers of all ages can indulge their taste buds and create lasting memories together.
If there was ever an excuse to get outdoors with loved ones, then this is certainly it.
“ We are absolutely thrilled it’s that time of year again, food festival! The level of enthusiasm and dedication from the amazing team of volunteers has been truly inspiring. Their passion for food and community has infused the event with a contagious excitement, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated festivals we have arranged. With the communities’ support, this year’s food festival promises to be an unforgettable culinary experience that will leave everyone eagerly looking forward to the next one. ”
It is fair to say that the Festival goes far beyond merely tantalising our taste buds, thanks to an extensive, and largely unprecedented, programme of cookery demonstrations and workshops.
Led by renowned chefs and culinary experts, festival-goers have the opportunity to witness the creation of mouthwatering dishes up close and personal, as the chefs share insights into their techniques, secret recipes - and, something we’ve all tried to master over the years - the art of plate presentation.
Sunday Brunch, eat your heart out!
On the topic of spirit, one of the most remarkable aspects of the Nantwich Food Festival is the unwavering support it receives from the local community. The festival serves as a platform to showcase the town’s exceptional local produce, from artisanal cheeses to award-winning meat, and in the same breath, offers small businesses the chance to get their product in the hands and mouths of thousands of people.
In turn, the emphasis placed on local ingredients strengthens the ties between producers, businesses and consumers, creating a sustainable food culture that benefits the entire community.
Win, win you could say.
A huge dollop of free family fun is to be dished up again for the 2023 event, and as both a contributor and consumer, we can’t wait!
Something we’re extremely passionate about at THE FEED, and what ultimately led to the establishment of TFM, is knitting together local communities and businesses to create unforgettable events – a box the festival has been ticking since its inception in 2010 transforming the laidback streets we know so well into a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
Live music performances from local buskers and street entertainers add an extra layer of excitement to the event – the melodic sounds filtering into the town’s iconic square which is brought to life with a kaleidoscope of colours and scents, creating an immersive experience that captures the essence of Nantwich’s mellow yet energetic spirit.
“ Our team has worked tirelessly to pull together an entertainment program that promises to delight festival-goers. We have celebrity chefs showcasing their culinary prowess and talented music performers providing the tunes, there’s sure to be an electrifying atmosphere in the air. But that’s not all – for the first time ever, we’re introducing a “Cookalong” segment, where local hero chefs will share their beloved skills with you. ”

Local gastro pub The White Lion know the true meaning of ‘community spirit’ with an awe-inspiring story of 40 determined locals saving the pub from certain destruction back in 2021.
We caught up with General Manager Claire Canning to find out how they’ve been getting on since their first year of re-opening.
Well, it’s definitely a true tale of community spirit and determination! Having served the village for over 200 years, it seemed only fitting that it was the community who stepped in to save the pub when it’s doors closed in 2016. With calculations made, experts engaged, the twelve hopeful new owners examined their pub once the keys had been exchanged.
It soon became clear what they had undertaken. Years of neglect meant our beautiful old building had fallen into disrepair. £380,000 was initially raised to rescue the pub, but it was obvious more would be needed. The group of twelve grew to nearly 40, eventually raising 1.5million to begin work on the pub in April 2021. The pub is now refurbished to the highest standard, with more than 30 local people overall having contributed to the project - from investing in it’s future to managing the build and design of the pub.
The White Lion prides itself on being a meeting place for family, friends and neighbours. We aim to deliver a true ‘public house’ - providing a social hub for the local community and surrounding areas, whilst preserving the pub’s history after the significant community efforts to save it and reopen it’s doors back in 2022.
The team endeavour to do this through a varied and jam-packed social calendar; imagining new community-based initiatives and rewards for our regulars as well as supporting all local annual events in earnest. We actively engage the local community to support these endeavours and lend their voice, as well as choosing ‘local’ for all of our business activities - local produce and suppliers, local craftsmen for our renovations and continued development, and of course, a local team in place to keep the pub running smoothly!
We take full advantage of the wealth of incredible ingredients and producers in and around Cheshire, to create a unique and creative menu that ebbs and flows with the seasons. You can expect some contemporary takes on British classics as well as a few wild cards to intrigue and delight.
Our dishes use fresh local ingredients always, plus as a CAMRA accredited pub you can expect an array of local cask and craft beers, as well as an extensive selection of expertly selected artisan spirits and wines to enjoy alongside dinner.

We have set TFM. resident foodie Lucy Bostock, a mission to try every pinch of grub our area has to offer, so when we asked where she would like to start off, it took all of one second to blurt out – “Romazzino”. Over to you Luce;
I’m back in my home town Nantwich. Thanks to TFM. for asking me to get involved in this very exciting project and giving me the chance to show off all the lil gems we have located in the heart of our beautiful, foodie town. What better way to kick it off than with the classic that is Romazzino. Established in 2007, this authentic Italian restaurant has been a go to for me for special occasions and guaranteed tasty food over many years now.
So, we headed back to see what they now have on their menus and to get a taste of this delicious food again. After moving from their cosy and warm location on Love Lane in 2019 to their new home on the High Street, they’ve grown into this new space creating a different rustic Mediterranean feel.
Here’s our review from our recent visit to Romazzino... we chose some house white wine to get us started (it’d be rude not to!). We went on to order the ‘Frittura di Pesce’ sharing platter to start, which is a variety of different seafood that is all deep fried... RIGHT up my street. It came so beautifully presented and definitely lived up to our expectations. The one thing I would say is that they are not shy with portions here, so pace yourself to make sure you get through it all (the king prawns do be king sized)!
Moving onto our mains and because pasta is my love language, I just had to order the ‘Ravioli con Pera e Dolcelatte’ for two reasons, the first being I’m a sucker for a creamy, cheesy sauce and the second, I love trying out different combinations that I’ve never had before but I know just work. I recommend this for all the other pasta lovers out there. We also wanted to give the meat a go with them sourcing their stock locally, so we went with their ‘Welsh Wagyu Rump steak’. It was cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of fat that gave it that delicious melt in the mouth flavour whilst avoiding any unwanted tough chewiness. Can’t leave out the tasty truffle and parmesan chippies, what a treat.
Our bellies were full at this point, but I’d heard from the staff that the ‘Tiramisu’ was too good to miss out on, so we decided to try one between us. I’m so glad we did, because this was one of the nicest I’ve tried - the flavours were subtle but oh-so-creamy!!
A special mention to the staff who made sure that our drinks were never not topped up and were there to offer service at a moment’s notice. Diana who was most attentive with her friendly and professional personality really made a difference to our evening and topped our authentic Italian evening off by giving us some Limoncello before we headed off.
I’m looking forward to the next visit to share with you all and in the meantime the countdown to Nantwich Food Fest is ON! 10 High St, Nantwich CW5 5AR | 01270 619 100 romazzino.co.uk

I’ve written for a trade association in a national campaign, to a neurodiversity charity that helped to clarify & explain. A term that is used a lot is “in the heart of Nantwich”, however with Enzo this couldn’t be more accurate.
Enzo is not just a café, but a labour of love born out of a shared passion for good coffee. The story starts in a cold December many years ago, husband-and-wife duo James and Carrie decided to embark on an exciting adventure to bring authentic Italian flavours to their community. Building upon James’s success with an Italian restaurant in Crewe, they saw the opportunity to create a more casual eatery with the same topnotch quality cuisine and laid-back style.
However, it was the quest for a perfect cup of decent coffee that became the driving force behind Enzo’s inception. Finding a roaster to develop their exclusive blend, they set out to create a coffee joint where Nantwich residents could savour the true essence of Italy.
Initially offering only pizza and pasta, the couple soon realised the need for a breakfast menu to complement their coffee offerings, which if you haven’t tried it yet then you need to – a favourite of TFM. is the breakfast pizza!
From a few pastries to a diverse array of hot plates, their breakfast menu became as popular as the main one, paying homage to their Italian influences.
13 years in the industry, Enzo’s journey has been a remarkable one. Surviving in the fiercely competitive food industry requires constant innovation and maintaining high standards, but for James and Carrie, the rewards are worth it. They take immense pride in the positive feedback they receive from their customers, knowing that their efforts are appreciated.
It’s a family. Raising their two children alongside running the restaurant, the eatery has become an integral part of their lives and those of their dedicated team members. The people who breathe life into Enzo day in and day out have played a pivotal role in shaping its success.
With dedicated team members like Mandy and Ben, who have been instrumental in the restaurant’s journey, Enzo has created a unique style and menu that reflects their dedication to quality. Producing their own pizza dough, pasta sauces and cakes, they have honed their skills to deliver an authentic Italian culinary experience.
The couple remains open to change and continuous improvement, while still cherishing their love for Italy. Enzo is a place that has earned its stripes through learning, growing perfecting their craft, and it continues to be a cherished spot for those seeking a quality food coupled with great service. Enzo gets the TFM. nod, it’s an oat milk flat white for us, please!
If you’re looking for the perfect spot to celebrate your special occasion, Enzo offers its cosy and welcoming space for hire on Friday or Saturday nights. Party-goers can enjoy pizzas and catered delights while creating unforgettable memories. Check out their website for more party details and make your celebration even more special at Enzo!
You’ve seen it as you rush through your daily routine, but have you looked?
During our busy lives, it’s easy to forget to stop and appreciate the beauty around us. As most of us race from place to place, head in our phone or mentally planning out every second before the ticket runs out on the car, post office closes and needing to go to the supermarket, we haven’t got time to stop and smell the flowers.
As spring unfolds into summer, the town comes alive with an array of captivating blooms that grace our trees, parks and every nook and cranny. The sight of floral Nantwich is truly magical and reminds us to pause and savour the simple joys in life.
At TFM., we recently had the delightful opportunity to join Nantwich Mayor, Stephanie Wedgwood, and the passionate organisers of ‘Nantwich In Bloom’ as we embarked on an exploration of the town’s flowery wonders.
During our conversation with Stephanie, her pride as the mayor of this stunning historic town was unmistakable. She shared with a beaming smile:
As we wondered through the town, we couldn’t help but be impressed by the artistic displays that seamlessly blend with the town’s historic architecture. The floral tapestry seems to harmonize with the old-world charm of Nantwich, creating a perfect fusion of tradition and nature.
Our from one end of town to the other, finishing in the town centre where blooming flower beds and manicured gardens offer a soothing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was a gentle reminder that nature’s beauty is at our doorstep, waiting to be appreciated.
The dedication and passion of the whole town and wider community shines through every petal and their commitment to preserving the town’s natural beauty is commendable. It’s heart-warming to witness a community coming together to nurture and celebrate the essence of floral Nantwich.
Stephanie expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain Nantwich’s picturesque appearance. “Our volunteers are the unsung heroes who keep Nantwich looking the way it does and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of them for their hard work and dedication.”
“New volunteers are always welcomed with open arms and, of course, opened garden gloves”. Stephanie emphasized that fresh faces and helping hands are crucial to sustaining the town’s beauty and welcoming spirit.
With great pride, the Nantwich In Bloom team work tirelessly to create a picturesque landscape that captivates both locals and visitors alike. From vibrant hanging baskets adorning the charming streets to stunning floral arrangements in the shops, Nantwich blooms with colours that evoke a sense of wonder.
So, the next time you find yourself hurrying through the street’s coffee in hand, racing to the next thing, take a moment to embrace the beauty around you.
Let the floral splendour of our town impress you and you’ll discover a world of tranquillity amidst the blooms. Stop, breathe and experience the magic of floral Nantwich - a town that blooms at every turn.
We think its Bloom’in great! Too much?

“Where is the Granary Arts Café?”
Is the question people only ask once. The Granary opened in 2021 and owners Derice Richards and Katie Hill who grew up in Nantwich are on a mission to showcase the importance of arts and culture in a progressive, functioning community. Katie states “We want to see our town engaging with the arts, embracing and expressing different cultures and understanding the impact this has on collective well-being.”
As soon as you enter the venue you get a sense that they’re doing something different, while sitting and enjoying one of their coffees or fully vegan range of light bites or delicious, sweet treats there will be something else going on – whether it’s a ballet class, art workshop or one of their many community meet-ups. On a regular basis they offer salsa dancing lessons, craft club, ESOL classes, jamming sessions with Community Stage and regular music nights to raise money for charity.
The music nights are a collaboration with Moth Events (@events_by_ moth), a non-for-profit venture which sources the very best in up-andcoming artists while also raising over £11,800 for Mind Charity. Derice beams “we absolutely love these events and have had so many amazing artists including OMA, Antony Szmierek, Cathy Jain, Meduulla, too many to name! What’s special about these events is they really showcase the inclusivity and diversity which is part of our ethos at The Granary”.
Local poet and regular performer Steven Langstaff aka @nightterrorspoetry put his thoughts into words...
“Grain gathered together to become greater than the sum of its parts
A lot like people I suppose
Nurtured to become something workable, malleable, a lump of clay to mould
You see, a solitary grain can never succeed but when given allies, friends and a granary you know
A grain is a lot like a person I suppose
What I’m getting at is this idea that
Unless we unite, unless we collaborate, unless we simultaneously flow
We’ll be that solitary grain, shy of the stars, allowed to plateau
But if placed in a place that allows us to become one, to challenge ourselves, to grow
To get mixed up and rise into an amazing dough
Then we’ll discover things about ourselves that we didn’t even know
A lot like grain in a Granary I suppose.”
So, now you know where they are go and pay them a visit. All events, classes and groups can be found on their website.
