Your stories are important, your experiences meaningful, and we’re here to spotlight the richness within our community. Let’s unveil the untold, embrace the unconventional, and applaud the diversity that makes our towns truly exceptional. Share your tales, and together, let’s craft the next edition of TFM.

NANTWICH: ONE OF BRITAIN’S TOP 10 MARKET TOWNS
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
NANTWICH MARKETS: WHERE TRADITION MEETS MODERNITY
We’ll admit it - we were sceptical at first. Could old-fashioned trading really hold its own in today’s fast-paced world? But after experiencing first-hand the unique atmosphere of Nantwich Markets, we can confidently say, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
Far from being just a quaint spot for Saturday morning strolls with Nan, Nantwich Markets have earned national recognition. Recently hailed by property expert Simon Merton as one of Britain’s top 10 market towns to live in, Nantwich embodies the quintessential charm of market towns, serving as the heartbeat of the countryside.
According to Merton, market towns like Nantwich have always been beacons of creativity and aspiration, regardless of market conditions. With its medieval roots and modern allure, Nantwich boasts the largest collection of historic buildings outside Chester, making it a truly unique destination.
TRADITIONAL MARKET
Nestled at the crossroads of Market Street and Churchyard side, Nantwich Market offers a diverse array of goods, from fresh produce to household essentials, attracting visitors on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. But that’s just the beginning.
It’s the people that truly give the market its unique identity. Some of the traders have been rocking up here for generations, putting on a smile and feeding off the daily interactions with the punters – it’s infectious and stands testament to why Nantwich markets have become so popular, not just for the locals.
4 NANTWICH MARKET #TFM
FARMERS MARKET ARTISAN MARKET
On the last Saturday of each month, the town square bursts to life with the Farmers’ Market, featuring a wide variety of local producers and artisans showcasing homemade and fresh produce. It’s building its own reputation, as the market doesn’t just boost the traders at the end of each month; the whole town feels a positive impact from it.
For those with a penchant for artistry, Nantwich Artisan Markets curated by Castle Events offer a haven of unique finds, from art, crafts, jewellery, homewares, cards, gifts, sweet & savoury food produce, as well as hot drinks and street food; gathering on Sundays throughout the year, in the heart of Nantwich, on the Square.
V&A ANTIQUES & COLLECTORS JDL MINI MARKETS
Throughout the summer, there are many different markets that take place. V&A Fairs hosts Antiques and Collectables Markets, inviting visitors to uncover hidden treasures amidst the stalls.
And let’s not forget JDL Markets, injecting excitement into town events with themed market days that cater to all ages, from young traders to families seeking entertainment.

SUMMER COCKTAILS
TO SAVOUR ON THOSE BRITISH SUMMER DAYS
As the sun makes its elusive appearance during our Cheshire summers, we find ourselves yearning for cool, invigorating sips to quench our thirst.
Whether we’re relaxing after work, hosting an impromptu back garden soirée, or simply enjoying some delicious “me” time, these delightful libations will keep us refreshed all season long.
Feel free to adjust the recipes to your liking, and cheers to a delightful British summer!
PIMM’S CUP
With tennis season nearly here, every pantry and cocktail cabinet should hold a bottle of Pimm’s. By adding a little mint, cucumber, or even some strawberries, you can create a delicious jug of Pimm’s Cup. Pimm’s is a gin-based spirit made of gin, quinine, and a spice blend. Here’s how to prepare it:
1) Mix one part Pimm’s No. 1 with four parts lemonade (or ginger beer if you like things spicy) and add the ingredients to a jug full of ice.
2) Garnish with lashings of mint and slices of cucumber, strawberries, or even apple and orange.
3) Feel free to get creative and mix it up! It’s super refreshing and makes for a great social media post.
APEROL SPRITZ
Originating from Italy, Aperol is a bitter botanical liqueur made from ingredients like gentian root, rhubarb, and cinchona bark. Originally designed as a bittersweet aperitif to stimulate the appetite before a meal, the Aperol Spritz is a classic choice. Here’s how to make it:
1) In a jug filled with ice and cut slices of orange.
2) Add three parts Prosecco two parts Aperol & one part soda.
3) Stir and serve, and don’t forget to add a slice of orange and ice to each glass before pouring.
WHITE WINE SANGRIA
This one’s super easy! Grab a large glass jug and follow these steps:
1) Add one cheap bottle of dry white wine & pour in 50ml of brandy.
2) Toss in slices of fresh fruit like oranges, plums, and apples and add a splash of orange juice. Sweeten to taste with a bit of sugar or honey.
3) Serve over ice, and enjoy!

ROMANZZINO
An Italian restaurant located at 10 High Street, Nantwich. Their cozy cocktail bar, adorned with tall marble tables and stools, offers a perfect vantage point to observe the world passing by. Try their exquisite Campari Spritz, which boasts a touch more alcohol content and bitterness than the classic Aperol Spritz, while maintaining the same recipe—just with Campari instead of Aperol.
OLEA
Another Italian gem, Olea provides a more casual dining experience with its charming café. Nestled on the cobbled streets of Church Lane, Olea’s outdoor seating area is divine for sipping a Limoncello Spritz Limoncello, originally crafted by Nonna’s in the region around the Gulf of Naples off the Amalfi Coast and Sicily, combines lemons, spirit, and sugar. When paired with Prosecco and a splash of soda, it transforms into a sweet lemonade with a delightful kick.
9 MILL STREET
This cosmopolitan restaurant and cocktail bar boasts a spacious terrace with comfortable seating, perfect for soaking up the sunshine. Their signature cocktail, the Spice Mango Margarita, features a Tequila base, Triple Sec, Mango puree, and lime. Served in a wide Old Fashioned glass rimmed with Tajin, it’s a refreshing choice for relaxation.

CHESHIRE CARRIAGES: IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE TIMELESS BEAUTY OF NATURE.
We thought it was about time we reconnected with nature. So, a journey with Cheshire Carriage & Co was on the cards and it was an experience you need to know about...
The world can be a big loud place at times, making finding moments of tranquillity and connection with our surroundings has become a rare luxury. But nestled in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, Mike Huddart at Cheshire Carriage & Co. offers a retreat from the chaos of modern life, inviting you to step back, breathe in the fresh air, and immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of nature.
14 CHESHIRE CARRIAGES #TFM
Where did it all begin?
Mike’s affinity for horses began in childhood, sparked by a chance encounter with a shire horse named Pearl. Since then, these majestic equines have been his steadfast companions, guiding him through life’s journey with their grace and strength. Standing tall at 18.2 hands, Mike’s current working Shire, Kaiser, epitomizes the grandeur of the breed, captivating hearts with his gentle demeanour and unwavering loyalty.
But his passion for Shire horses extends beyond admiration; it’s a mission to preserve a piece of history and heritage. With the Shire horse population dwindling, Mike is dedicated to keeping the breed alive and thriving, introducing people to their beauty and versatility through unforgettable experiences.
From carriage rides through picturesque landscapes to luxurious picnics crafted from locally sourced ingredients, every moment with Cheshire Carriage & Co. is an opportunity to reconnect with nature and celebrate the richness of British heritage. The themed carriage rides, ranging from introductory driving lessons to indulgent afternoon teas, promise an escape from the ordinary, allowing you to create lasting memories in the company of these gentle giants.
But the journey doesn’t end there.
With plans to expand offerings through Cheshire Carriage Trading company, Mike is set to redefine the concept of farm-to-table dining, championing local produce and British alternatives. From cocktail masterclasses to bespoke hampers, each experience is a testament to the beauty of simplicity and the richness of community.
So, if you’re ready to embark on a journey of discovery and rediscovery, join Mike and his beloved Shires at Cheshire Carriage & Co.
Let’s turn the page to a new chapter of connection, appreciation, and celebration. Visit Cheshire Carriage & Co. to start your adventure today.

A stalwart of the local community for generations, Gio's has been a beloved fixture since its opening in 1986 by a local couple.

Gio's holds a special place in the hearts of many, evoking memories of first dates and cherished anniversaries. For nearly four decades, guests have returned time and again to savour the rustic flavours of homemade pizza and pasta, reminiscent of simpler times.
Despite the challenges of navigating economic downturns and the recent impact of the pandemic, Gio's remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
What sets Gio's apart is not just its delectable cuisine, but its unwavering dedication to continuous improvement. Carrie, now fully immersed in the restaurant's operations, brings with her a vision for the future that promises exciting innovations and enhancements. From opening the space for corporate events and business lunches to introducing all-youcan-eat party afternoons, the possibilities are endless.
But it's not just about the food, it's about creating memorable experiences for every guest. Carrie understands that success lies in the details – from the quality of the ingredients to the warmth of the service. With a keen eye for talent and a passion for excellence, Carrie ensures that every member of the Gio's team shares in the commitment to delivering perfection with each visit.
For those who may have overlooked Gio's in the past or experienced lessthan-ideal visits, Carrie extends an invitation to rediscover what makes Gio's truly special. With a revitalised menu featuring perfected pizza dough recipes and newly furnished dining spaces, Gio's is better than ever before.
So, whether you're reminiscing about that first date or looking for a fresh culinary experience, Gio's invites you to join them on a journey where tradition meets modernity.
It's time to fall in love with Gio's all over again, we certainly have and love the pizza – Team TFM approved. Come taste the difference at Gio's – where every bite tells a story, and every visit feels like coming home. 23/25 Nantwich

For those of us who have witnessed Crewe’s evolution over the years, the resurgence of the market hall signals a promising future for the area.
