Про музей

About The Museum

Меморіальний музей тоталітарних режимів «Територія Терору» – муніципальна інституція, завдання якої дослідити, осмислити та презентувати трагічні сторінки історії середини ХХ ст. у контексті викликів сучасності. Створення музейної установи ініціювала Львівська міська рада у 2009 році. Спорудження меморіального музейного комплексу тривало впродовж 2014–2016 років. Музей розташований у Львові на території колишніх ґетто (1941–1943 рр.) та пересильної тюрми №25 (1944–1955 рр.). Місце розташування визначає фокусні теми інституції: трансформації міського простору внаслідок нацистського та радянського насильств, досвіди людини в умовах екстреми. Ми формуємо майданчик для діалогу та дискусії навколо травматичних подій минулого та сучасного заради побудови толерантного та інклюзивного суспільства. Музей є прикладом меморіалізації суперечливої спадщини, яка лишилися після Другої світової війни та розпаду Радянського Союзу. Серед основних напрямків діяльності інституції: виставкові та освітні проекти, мистецькі інтервенції у міському просторі, співпраця з профільними інституціями України та інших країн, документування усноісторичних свідчень про трагічні події від 1930-х років і дотепер.

Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes “Territory of Terror” is a municipal institution with objectives to explore, comprehend, and present the tragic chapters of the mid-20th century history in the context of modern challenges. The museum was initiated by Lviv City Council in 2009. The construction of the museum facility lasted during 2014-2016.

The Museum is located in Lviv, on the site of the former ghetto (1941-1943) and the transit prison No. 25 (1944-1955). The location determines the institution’s focus of activities. It is the transformations of urban space due to Nazi and Soviet violence, human experiences in extreme conditions. We are developing a platform for dialogue and discussions around the traumatic past and present events for tolerant and inclusive society. The Museum is a model for memorializing the contested heritage left behind the Second World War and the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Key areas of activities: exhibition and education projects, art interventions within urban space, cooperation with sectoral institutions in Ukraine and internationally, documenting oral history testimonies on the tragic events since the 1930s until present.

Ґетто Ghetto

У листопаді 1941 року нацистська окупаційна адміністрація оголосила про початок примусової ізоляції львівських євреїв. Упродовж листопада-грудня 1941 року майже 60 000 осіб змусили переселитись до дільниць Клепарів та Замарстинів. Ці території перетворилися на ґетто – третє за величиною в окупованій Європі. Перед мостом по вул. Пелтевній (сучасний проспект Чорновола), внаслідок названим «мостом смерті», стратили щонайменше 3 000 осіб, яких вважали непрацездатними (старих, хворих). Першу фазу переселення припинили через епідемію висипного тифу – приблизно 20 000 євреїв залишились тимчасово проживати в «арійській» частині Львова. Територію ґетто загородили дерев'яним парканом. По периметру її охороняли співробітники німецької охоронної та української допоміжної поліцій. Внутрішнє адміністрування перебувало в юрисдикції єврейської ради та підконтрольної їй служби порядку. Повсякденне життя у ґетто супроводжувалось нестачею продуктів, поширенням інфекційних хвороб та примусовими роботами.

In November, 1941, Nazi occupation administration declared the start of forceful isolation of Jewish Lviv citizens. In November and December 1941, about 60,000 of them were forced to move to the districts of Klepariv and Zamarstyniv transformed into ghetto, which was the third largest ghetto in the occupied Europe. In front of the bridge at Peltewna street (presently – Chornovola Avenue), later called as a “bridge of death,” they selected those who appeared unable to work (the old, the ill), and executed at least 3,000 persons.

The first stage of displacement was interrupted due to the epidemics of typhoid. Thus, about 20,000 Jews stayed to temporary live in the “Arian” section of Lviv. The territory of ghetto was fenced off with the wooden boards. Around the perimeter, it was guarded by the German Security Police and the Ukrainian Auxiliary Police. Internal administration was exercised by the Jewish Council and the subordinate law-and-order service. Everyday life in the ghetto was characterized by the lack of food, spread of infectious diseases, and forced labour.

Упродовж 1942 року в ґетто відбулося кілька так званих «акцій», у процесі яких затриманих євреїв депортували до табору смерті Белжець або розстрілювали на околицях Львова, передусім у Лисиницькому лісі та урочищі «Піски». Наймасштабніша з них – 10–22 серпня 1942 року, коли до Белжеця депортували 38 000 осіб, а ще близько 2 000 розстріляли на місці. У серпні-вересні 1942 року до ґетто переселили тих євреїв, які спершу залишились проживати в «арійській» частині. У лютому 1943 року його переформували на єврейський табір, а у червні 1943 року – остаточно ліквідували. 5–6 000 осіб депортували до табору смерті Собібор, 10–12 000 розстріляли в урочищі «Піски», близько 2 000 запроторили до табору примусових робіт «Янівська». При огляді будинків виявлено щонайменше 3 000 тіл тих, хто вчинив самогубство. У 1992 році поряд з «мостом смерті» для вшанування пам’яті жертвам Львівського ґетто побудували меморіал.

In 1942, there were several “actions” in the ghetto, when the detained Jews were deported to the Bełżec death camp, or executed in the suburbs of Lviv, mostly in Lysynychi forest and in the Pisky terrain. The largest action took place on August, 10-22, 1942, when 38,000 persons were sent to Bełżec, and about 2,000 more were shot dead on the spot. In August and September, 1942, the Jews who used to initially live in the Arian part of the city were also resettled to the ghetto. In February, 1943, it was restructured into the Jewish camp. In June, 1943, the ghetto was finally liquidated: 5 to 6 thousand persons were deported to the Sobibór death camp, 10 to 12 thousand were shot in the Pisky terrain, about 2,000 were forced into the Janowska slave labour camp. Examination of buildings identified 3,000 bodies of those who committed suicide.

In 1992, next to the “bridge of death” a memorial was built to commemorate the victims of Lviv ghetto.

Пересильна тюрма №25 Transit prison No.25 Пересильна тюрма №25 створена восени 1944 року з поверненням радянського режиму до Львова. Розташована за залізничним насипом, по лівій стороні вулиці Пелтевної (тепер проспект Чорновола), вона була однією з найбільших тюрем такого типу на території сучасної України. Основне призначення пересильної тюрми – концентрація людей перед транспортуванням до виправно-трудових таборів ГУЛАГу та спецпоселень. Сюди звозили засуджених з інших тюрем Західної України. В очікуванні на «етап» їх утримували від тижня до року. Лише упродовж 1947 року звідси до таборів ГУЛАГу відправили 55 «етапів». Відповідно до встановлених норм, у пересильній тюрмі могли перебувати не більше 2 100 осіб. Антисанітарія, брак продуктів та погане медичне забезпечення спричинили високу смертність, особливо серед немовлят і літніх людей.

4 червня 1955 року Пересильну тюрму №25 ліквідували, а на її території облаштували обласну лікарню для інвалідів війни. Триває процес меморіалізації цього місця належним чином.

Transit prison No.25 was established in autumn, 1944, with return of the Soviet regime to Lviv. It is located behind the railway bank, on the left side of the Peltewna street (presently – Chornovola Avenue). The prison was one of the largest prisons of the kind within modern Ukraine.

A key role of the transit prison was to concentrate people before their transportation to the correctional labour camps of GULAG and forced settlements. The inmates from other Western Ukraine prisons were brought there. People stayed in the transit prison from a week up to a year before they were transfered. In 1947 alone, there were 55 “transfers” to the correctional labour camps of GULAG from there.

According to the established norms, the transit prison could only keep 2,100 persons at a time. Anti-sanitary conditions, malnutrition, and inadequate medical care led to high death rates, especially among the infants and the elderly.

On June, 4, 1955, the Transit Prison No.25 was liquidated, while on the premises, a regional hospital for disabled war veterans was arranged.

This site is in the process of being memorialized.

Museum “Territory of Terror” is the place for active living through History in the Present. The memorial museum site was built on historical facts and is highly sensitive to events and experiences of today.

It is a powerful academic, value-oriented, educational, and tourist facility with a legal capacity and static display; with dynamic exhibition section and autonomous research projects; and actively engaged in modern cultural context.

Робота з пам'яттю та локальний контекст Working With Memory and Local Context В умовах тотального зачищення інформації про злочини тоталітарних режимів (знищення місць терору, документів, архівів, зрештою, недоступності до більшості архівів і дотепер) важливим є дослідження цих тем, проговорення та широке висвітлення серед аудиторії та в медіа, а не лише формування пам’ятних дат та зведення пам’ятників, адже жива дискусія живих про жертв (але водночас і катів) і не лише зосередженість на болеві та переході усіх меж чутливості – це гідне вшанування загиблих від тоталітарних лещат, а також формування нового підходу до роботи з пам’яттю, який ґрунтується на фактах та емпатії.

Within the environment of total wiping out of information on the crimes of totalitarian regimes (destroyed terror sites, documents, archives, and denied access to most archives still today), it is important to research these topics, to voice them out, and broadly cover for the public and in the media. It shall not be a mere generating of memorable dates and erection of monuments but the lively discussion of the living about the victims (but also the perpetrators). The focus is not only on pain and getting beyond all borders of sensitivity – it is about respectful commemoration of victims of a totalitarian trap as well as about the development of a new approach to working with memory based on facts and empathy.

Як ми розуміємо терор та працюємо з терором How we Define and Address Terror Тема терору не обмежується лише терором у політичному розумінні, а дає можливість поглянути і дослідити людину у світі з філософської точки зору. На сьогодні для українського суспільства та науки залишається чимало недосліджених історичних тем, непроговореність яких пригальмовує розвиток соціуму та поглиблює розбрат і конфлікти. Теми репресій, «перемог і зрад», «героїв і зрадників», «катів і жертв» у зрізі Другої світової війни, Радянського режиму досі залишаються відкритими та під грифом «секретно». Профіль музею дозволяє створити умови для роботи науковців та дослідження «білих плям історії», суперечливих тем, які залишилися нам після Другої світової війни, розпаду Радянського союзу, а також загострені особливим геополітичним розташуванням України «у серці Європи» та на межі між Європою і Росією. Музейний простір дозволяє на належному рівні знайомити з результатами досліджень публіку та створити умови для якісної суспільної дискусії навколо цих тем, а також займатися просвітницькою діяльністю та формувати у такий спосіб критичне мислення у публіки, а особливо молодшого покоління. Водночас, говорячи про терор та людину у світі (у світі «не без терору»), неможливо не враховувати сучасний контекст (як локальний, так і світовий), а особливо сьогодення України, яке пронизане війною та безкінечними внутрішніми конфліктами і суспільними суперечностями. Тут на допомогу приходить сучасне мистецтво і його інструменти, які створюють умови для співпереживання та осмислення мінливого теперішнього.

Definition of terror is not reduced only to terror in political sense, but it also enables viewing and exploring a person within the world from a philosophical point of view.

Currently, there are still many unattended historical topics in Ukrainian society and science that need to be brought forward. Otherwise, it would challenge social progress, and aggravate discord and conflicts. The topics of repressions, of “gains and losses”, of “heroes and losers”, of “executioners and victims” in the context of the Second World War and Soviet regime keep posing open questions and are under wraps.

The museum profile offers conditions for researchers to explore the “blank pages in history”, the contested topics left behind the Second World War and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Their relevance is intensified due to the peculiar geographic location of Ukraine “in the heart of Europe” and at the boundary between Europe and Russia.

Museum environment allows for due level of informing the public about research findings and offers conditions for a high quality pubic discussion on the topics. It is also well fit for awareness raising thus developing critical thinking of people, especially among young audiences.

At the same time, when talking about terror and a human in the world (in the world “not without terror”), it is impossible to disregard the current context (both local, and global), especially the present days of Ukraine permeated with war and ongoing internal conflicts and social controversies. This is where modern art and its tools can help create environment for sharing experiences and for contemplating the present.

Завдання 2018 року Формування команди музею та аудит наявних посад, командоутворення і налагодження міцних горизонтальних зв'язків. Фіналізація будівництва музею: визначення термінів, стану, належних змін. Експертиза наявних будівель та приміщень музею щодо відповідності стандартам для проведення заходів та обслуговування відвідувачів, а також належних умов експонування (у тому числі щодо гостьових та «змінних» проектів). Формування колекційного зібрання музею: принципів, джерел, пріоритетів. Напрацювання переліку джерел. Опен-кол серед колекціонерів, дослідників, населення та музеїв України щодо колекції. Вирішення питання приміщень для розміщення фондів музею: локація, відповідність належним вимогам для зберігання фондів. Прозорий аудит із наступним електронним каталогом усіх фондів та ресурсів музею.

Статична експозиція: концептуалізація та вироблення візуальної й перцептивної стратегії – історія про «пересильну тюрму» і «ґетто» як прив’язка до місця, покладені на ширше філософське тло інтерпретації терору як такого. Expert evaluation for available buildings and facilities of the museum for compliance with the standards to hold events and attend to visitors, as well as due conditions for exhibitions (including the guest and “changing” projects).

Development of museum collections: principles, sources, priorities. Compiling the list of sources. Open call for collectors, researchers, citizens and museums of Ukraine to contribute to the collection.

Resolving issues with available facilities to store the museum collections: location, compliance with the due requirements to store the collections. Transparent audit with the further e-catalogue of all museum collections and resources.

Providing for due technical basis to store multimedia formats (with account for peculiarities for storing documents, photographs, audio, and video files).

У 2018 році музей долучився до реалізації трьох важливих для українського суспільства тем, яких ми не залишимо осторонь і цього року.

In 2018, the museum joined the implementation of three important topics for Ukrainian society that we will not abandon this year, either.

Координація загальноміської програми у співпраці з Центром міської історії Центрально-Східної Європи «Lwów, ‫לעמבערג‬, Львів, Lemberg’43: Місто, яке (не) пережило. Меморіальні заходи до 75-ї річниці ліквідації ґетто та Янівського концтабору у Львові». Трагічні роковини Голокосту у Львові об’єднали міські інституції культури і освіти, міжнародні організації, благодійні фонди, єврейську громаду та владу міста з метою вшанувати та актуалізувати складну та багато років замовчувану історію. У межах програми музей реалізував 13 заходів: лекції, дискусії, навчальні семінари, конференції, екскурсії та покази документальних фільмів, вулична виставка «Львів, Lwów, ‫לעמבערג‬, Lemberg’43: Місто (не)пам’яті» та виставка «Табір примусових робіт «Янівська» – індустрія терору», а 2 вересня – загальноміська програма заходів до 75 річниці ліквідації Львівського ґетто та Янівського концтабору у Львові.

Coordination of the city program in partnership with the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe “Lwów, ‫לעמבערג‬, Lviv, Lemberg’43: City that Did (Not) Survive. Commemoration Events for the 75th Anniversary of the Liquidation of Ghetto and Janowska Concentration Camp in Lviv.” Tragic anniversary of the Holocaust in Lviv brought together culture and education institutions of the city, international organizations, charities, Jewish community, and city authorities in order to commemorate and actualize the contested and many years unspoken history. As part of the program, the museum implemented 13 events: lectures, discussions, training workshops, conferences, excursions, and documentary film screenings, street exhibition “Lviv, Lwów, ‫לעמבערג‬, Lemberg’43: City of (un)memory,” and the exhibition “Janowska Slave Labour Camp – Industry of Terror”.

On September, 2, there took place a city program of commemorating events for the 75th anniversary of the liquidation of Lviv ghetto and Janowska concentration camp in Lviv.

Activities within the program of charitable events “Help Political Prisoners” organized by Lviv cultural institutions to support the “Association of Family Members of the Kremlin’s Prisoners” NGO and the Charitable Fund “Relatives of the Kremlin’s Political Prisoners.” The museum hosted a meeting with Ihor Hryb, head of NGO “Association of Family Members of the Kremlin’s Prisoners”; start of the marathon of writing letters to the Kremlin’s political prisoners; film screening “Sylni Dukhom” [Strong in Spirit] directed by Viacheslav Bihun about a Ukrainian political prisoner Yuriy Yatsenko; engagement of the museum staff in the campaigns “45th day, Time is Running Out #SaveOlegSentsov”, “Day 100. Day of Solidarity with Oleg Sentsov”. As initiated by theatrical community of the city, the museum hosted the read-through of the play “Engagement” by Elena Gremina on Sentsov case.

Moreover, as part of Zaporizhzhia book fair, museum staff organized a marathon in support of Ukrainian political prisoners of the Kremlin.

2018 рік став досить плідним для науковців музею. Наші наукові співробітники проводили публічні лекції, писали академічні тексти до фахових наукових журналів, а також створювали науково-популярні тексти для таких медій як інтернет-видання «Історична правда», міжнародного інтелектуального часопису «Україна Модерна», інформаційно-педагогічного бюлетеню Українського центру вивчення історії Голокосту та інших. Упродовж року у музеї апробовані авторські екскурсії місцями Шталагу №328 (Цитадель) та вуличної виставки «Місто (не)пам’яті» про 12 місць Голокосту у Львові, а також публікація віртуальної екскурсії за матеріалами цієї виставки, створеної спільно з Центром міської історії Центрально-Східної Європи. У 2018 наші науковці презентували карту «Місця терору в Галичині 1941-1944: ґетто та трудові табори для євреїв», яку нині можна побачити у просторі музейного комплексу. Наукові співробітники долучалися до конференцій, семінарів та круглих столів в Україні, Ізраїлі, США, Чехії та Німеччині.

The year 2018 was very fruitful for museum researchers. Our research fellows conducted public lectures and wrote academic texts for professional academic journals, and also produced science popular texts for such media as the online outlet “Historical Truth”, and international intellectual magazine “Ukraina Moderna”, and information pedagogical bulletin of the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, a.o.

During the year, the museum has piloted author-guided tours along the sites of Stalag No. 328 (Citadel) and the street exhibition “City of (un)memory” on 12 Holocaust related sites in Lviv. Besides, we published an edition on a virtual tour as based on the exhibition materials designed jointly with the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe.

In 2018, our researchers presented a map “Terror Sites in Halychyna in 1941-1944: Ghetto and Labour Camps for Jews” currently available within the museum space.

Research fellows attended conferences, workshops, and round tables in Ukraine, Israel, USA, Czech Republic,and Germany.

Налагодження партнерських зв’язків Partnerships 2018 – рік розширення міжінституційного партнерства. Протягом року були підписані 13 угод/меморандумів про співпрацю з регіональними, загальнонаціональними та міжнародними організаціями уможливили якісну реалізацію заходів та стали початком для проектів майбутніх років. Серед нових презентованих ідей – концепція Музею репресованих дітей як майбутньої філії музею. Ініціатором роботи над складною темою долі дітей, які були засуджені та відбували покарання разом з батьками у радянських таборах є Петро Франко, голова Львівського обласного товариства політв'язнів та репресованих. Одним з нових форматів співпраці для музею став проект «Культурний міст: СХІД – ЗАХІД». Його мета – налагодження партнерських стосунків між музеями Львівської та Луганської областей. Музейні співробітники Луганського обласного краєзнавчого музею (м. Старобільськ), за координації музею «Територія Терору», відвідали ряд музеїв та інституцій Львова. Співробітники «Територія Терору» представили наукову, організаційну, промоційну діяльність нашого музею у відрядженнях до 18 міст України та Європи. У межах офіційних візитів до музею завітали представники дипломатичних установ Польщі, Бельгії, Канади, Ізраїлю, Німеччини та представниця Європарламенту.

2018 – was the year of expanding interinstitutional partnerships. During the year, it has been signed 13 agreements/memoranda on cooperation with regional, national, and international organizations. It made it possible to have a high quality of event implementation and gave rise to projects for the future.

The new presented ideas include a concept for the Museum of Repressed Children as a future branch of the museum. The work on the contested topic on the fate of children who were convicted and served sentences along with their parents in Soviet camps was initiated by Petro Franko, head of Lviv Regional Society of Political Prisoners and Repressed Persons.

One of the new formats of cooperation for the museum was the project “Cultural Bridge: EAST– WEST.” The objective was to establish partnership between museums of Lviv and Luhansk regions.

Museum staff of Luhansk regional local history museum (city of Starobilsk), as coordinated by the museum “Territory of Terror”, visited a number of museums and institutions in Lviv.

The staff of the “Territory of Terror” presented academic, organizational, and promotional activities of the museum in their official trips to 18 cities in Ukraine and further in Europe. On their official visits, the museum was attended by representatives of diplomatic institutions from Poland, Belgium, Canada, Israel, Germany, and a representative of the European Parliament.

Інфраструктура і будівництво Infrastructure and Construction За проектом музейного комплексу не передбачалося приміщення для офісу та фондового сховища. Тому у 2018 році важливим завданням було знайти місце, яке би стало управлінським центром нашої інституції. Завдяки колегам з бібліотеки №21 та Управлінню культури Львівської міської ради ми отримали частину приміщення бібліотеки №21 на вул. Шолом-Алейхема, 14 та зробили в ньому косметичний ремонт. Зараз ведуться перемовини про повну передачу приміщення. Не менш важливими завданнями стали укомплектація сигналізації та відеонагляду музейного комплексу, а також закупівля квиткового господарства.

The initial design plan of the museum facility did not allocate any office facilities and the holdings storage. That is why, in 2018, our institution had an important task to find the place that could host the management center for the institution. Due to colleagues from Library No. 21 and the Office for Culture of Lviv City Council, we were offered part of facilities of library No. 21 at 14 Sholem Aleichem Street, and did a facelift redecoration therein.

Currently, negotiations are under way on full commissioning of the facility. Another no less important task was to complete the alarm system and a video surveillance system for the museum site, as well as to procure for the ticket office.

Крім цього, у межах загальноміської програми «Lwów, ‫לעמבערג‬, Львів, Lemberg’43: Місто, яке (не) пережило. Меморіальні заходи до 75-ї річниці ліквідації ґетто та Янівського концтабору у Львові» встановили зупинку пам'яті жертв табору примусових робіт «Янівська» на вулиці Омеляна Ковча.

In addition, as part of the city program “Lwów, ‫לעמבערג‬, Lviv, Lemberg’43: City that Did(Not) Survive. Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Liquidation of Lviv Ghetto and Janowska Concentration Camp in Lviv”, it was installed a bus stop to commemorate victims of the Janowska slave labour camp on Omelian Kovch Street.

2018 was the year of changes and new opportunities for the museum and its staff. During the year, the museum workers took specialized trainings and successfully completed courses on health and safety on the job, fire and gas management safety, due management of tender documentation. Museum director started her studies on the course of “Competence Management” at the Institute of Leadership and Management in Ukrainian Catholic University.

In addition, the museum hosted internship for 27 students from Ivan Franko Lviv National University and Lviv branch of Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.

У 2018 році ми продовжили співпрацю з ЛКП «Муніципальна варта», яка охороняє музейний комплекс. Також ми залучили до охорони нашого офісного приміщення Управління поліції охорони у Львівській області/ Центр технічної охорони ССД-1, а для охорони квиткового господарства – охоронно-юридичну компанію «АУТПОСТ».

Security The topics addressed by the museum are not easy to manage; they are debatable and socially concerning. Therefore, security of visitors, and of museum property is our priority objective. In 2018, we continued cooperating with the “Municipal Guard” Lviv municipal company guarding the museum facility. Moreover, we engaged the Board of Security Police in Lviv region / Center for Technical Security SSD-1 to provide for security of our office facilities. To guard the ticket office – a security and law company “OUTPOST” was contracted.

In 2018, the museum staff duly responded to acts that go against the acting law and violate human rights. Some contacts with law-enforcement bodies were related to the street exhibition “Lviv’43: City of (un)memory.”

Others were about the results of the competitive selection for the position of the museum director, and on collection, storage, and dissemination of personal data of the director without her consent therefor.

Пошукові роботи жертв політичних репресій Search for Victims of Political Repressions У 2018 році музей продовжив наступний етап досліджень з КП ЛОР «Доля» щодо виявлення поховань жертв політичних репресій. Перший етап досліджень розпочався ще у 2013 році, коли власник земельної ділянки кооперативно-садівничого товариства «Світоч» (6-й Топольний провулок), при розкопуванні котловану для майбутнього будівництва, виявив людські останки. Після цього роботи зупинили і власник звернувся до органів влади. Унаслідок виявили масові поховання, ймовірно, жертв політичних репресій з лікарні Пересильної тюрми №25.

In 2018m the museum continued the next stage of research with the “Dolia” MC LRC on identifying burials of victims of political repressions. The first stage of the studies started back in 2013 when the owner of the land plot of the cooperative gardening society “Svitoch” (6 Topolnyi alley) discovered human remains when excavating the ditch for foundations for the future construction.

After that, the works were interrupted, and the owner applied to the authorities. As a result, mass graves were discovered, possibly, of the victims of political repressions from the hospital of the Transit prison No. 25.

Промоційна діяльність Promotions Для нас важливо, щоб про діяльність музею дізналося якнайбільше людей. У 2018 році ми активно комунікували з нашими читачами на сайті, сторінці у соцмережі Facebook, співпрацювали зі львівськими, загальноукраїнськими та іноземними ЗМІ. Провели інформаційну кампанію зі збору музейних експонатів спільно зі ЛКП «Львівелектротранс». Кожна подія супроводжувалася фотозвітом, стрімом та максимально вичерпними прес-анонсами і пост-релізами. Усі промоційні матеріали наших основних заходів і виставок дублювали англійською мовою. Активно співпрацювали зі Львівським туристичним інформаційним центром, відділом промоції та прес-службою Львівської міської ради. Як один з результатів роботи – нагорода у номінації «Промоція. Дебют» на конференції «Музей та виклики часу» у місті Дніпро.

We find it very important to have as much as possible people learn about museum activities. In 2018, we were actively communicating with our readers on the website, and on the profile in social media Facebook; we worked together with Lviv, national, and foreign media. We run an awareness campaign to collect museum exhibits, jointly with the “Lvivelektrotrans” Lviv Municipal Company. Every activity was followed by a photo report, stream, and the highly detailed press announcements and post releases. All promotional materials of our key activities and exhibitions were also duplicated in English. We also actively worked with Lviv Tourist Information Center, with office for promotions, and a press service of Lviv City Council. One of the results of our work was the award in the nomination “Promotion. Debut” at the conference “Museum and Challenges of the Time” in the city of Dnipro.

Виставка «Табір примусових робіт «Янівська» – індустрія терору» розповідає про основний центр здійснення нацистського терору у Львові та Західній Україні протягом німецької окупації 1941-1944 рр. Вона є першою спробою репрезентувати маловідому історію табору в музейному просторі у Львові та Україні загалом. Ідея – дати змогу відвідувачам самостійно дізнатись про трагічні події у таборі через ознайомлення з оригінальними джерелами. Насамперед через світлини, що ілюструють різні аспекти табірного повсякдення, а також унікальні аудіо- та відеозаписи свідчень колишніх в’язнів та їх переслідувачів, віднайдені в архівах або задокументовані в ході реалізації усноісторичного проекту #непочуті. Важливою частиною експозиції є кулі, гільзи, шматки колючого дроту та інші предмети, виявлені у 2018 р. в урочищі «Піски» – місці масових вбивств в’язнів табору. Вони так само свідчать про моторошні табірні реалії. Крім цього, представлено дві музейні реконструкції одягу – однострій німецького есесівця з табірної охорони та одяг в’язня.

Exhibition “Janowska Slave Labour Camp – Industry of Terror” tells about the key center of exercising Nazi terror in Lviv and in Western Ukraine during the German occupation in 1941-1944. It is the first attempt to represent the little known history of the camp within the museum space in Lviv, and in Ukraine at large.

The idea is to enable visitors to independently learn about the tragic events in the camp through seeing authentic artefacts. In the first place, these are photographs illustrating various aspects of the camp routines, as well as unique audio and video recordings of testimonies of former prisoners and their perpetrators found in the archives or documented during the implementation of the oral history project the #непочуті [#unheard]. An important part of the display includes bullets, shells, pieces of barbed wire and other items discovered in 2018 in the Pisky Terrain, a site for mass killings of the camp prisoners. They also testify to the dreadful camp reality. In addition, there are two museum clothes reconstructions represented – a uniform of a German SS officer from the camp guards, and an inmate’s clothing.

Завдяки проробленій науковій та інформаційній роботі впродовж 2018 року музей поповнився відеота аудіофрагменти інтерв’ю колишніх ув’язнених – Яніни Гешелес, Миколи Петренка, Богдана Коха, а також новими фактами, які вдалося дослідити нашими науковим співробітникам. Зокрема, можна прослухати мелодію «Танго смерті», записану зі збережених нот колишнього в’язня табору Богдана Коха.

Due to the academic research and awareness raising done in 2018, the museum received new video and audio pieces from interviews of former prisoners, such as Janina Hescheles, Mykola Petrenko, Bohdan Kokh, and also new facts that our research fellows managed to discover. In particular, you can listen to the tune “Tango of Death” recorded from the preserved sheet music of a former camp prisoner Bohdan Kokh.

Продовженням роботи над дослідженням теми Голокосту у Львові стануть створення інформаційного відео про табір примусових робіт «Янівська» і каталогу виставки, а також інформаційно-туристичної брошури за мотивами вуличної виставки «Місто (не)пам’яті» про 12 місць геноциду єврейського населення Львова.

The study of the Holocaust in Lviv will continue in creating the video informing about Janowska slave labour camp and the exhibition catalogue, as well as tourist information booklet based on the street exhibition “City of (un)memory” on the 12 sites related to the genocide of Jewish citizens of Lviv.

“1944”: 75th anniversary from the start of operations of the transit prison No.25 Для Львова і великої частини України 1944 р. став переломним. У ході воєнних дій нацистський режим був витіснений радянським. З одного боку, це стало завершенням кількарічного періоду нацистського насильства, жертвами якого стало понад 3 мільйони цивільних мешканців України, а з іншого – повернення радянської влади ознаменувалось новими репресіями з її боку. В значній мірі мова йде про примусові переміщення, в ході яких значно змінилось соціальне та культурне обличчя України і Львова зокрема. Впродовж перших післявоєнних років сотні тисяч людей – українців, поляків, кримських татар та інших – були змушені покинути свої домівки. Пересильна тюрма №25 з 1944 по 1955 рр. стала одним із основних пунктів у цих радянських насильницьких практиках в Західній Україні. Упродовж 2019 р. Меморіальний музей тоталітарних режимів «Територія Терору» реалізовуватиме програму заходів наукового, інформаційного, освітнього та меморіалізаційного характеру, спрямованого на поширення знань про історію пересильної тюрми №25 та в ширшому контексті – зміни режимів у 1944 р. в долях пересічних мешканців України.

For Lviv and for a big part of Ukraine, the year 1944 became a breakthrough. During the warfare, the Nazi regime was ousted by the Soviets. On the one hand, it was a completion of several years period of the Nazi violence victimizing over 3 mln. of civilians in Ukraine. On the other hand, it was the return of Soviet authorities marked with resumed repressions.

It is largely about forced deportations crucially transforming social and cultural face of Ukraine and of Lviv in particular. During the first postwar years, hundreds of thousands of people, Ukrainians, Poles, Crimean Tartars, and others, were forced to leave their homes. From 1944 to 1955, transit prison No. 25 was one of the central points in the Soviet violent practices in Western Ukraine.

In 2019, the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes“Territory of Terror” will be implementing a program of activities of academic, informational, educational, and memorializing type, aimed at spreading awareness on the history of the transit prison No. 25 and in a broader context – changes of regime in 1944 as manifested in the fate of average citizens of Ukraine.

In addition, in June, it is planned to rebury the victims of political repressions in Lychakiv cemetery.

The research will present stories of people who risked their lives to rescue their Jewish neighbours during the Holocaust, later being granted the title of the Righteous Among the Nations therefor, but repressed by Soviet regime. The project will be telling stories of people from three regions – Lviv region (Klymentiy Sheptytskyi, Olena Viter, Lazar Shyian), Rivne region (families of the Kondratiuk and the Shyrko, Okhrim Sirochuk, Yakiv Sukhenko), and Khmelnytskyi region (Mykhaylo Uzhytskyi, the Chychuk family, Valentyna Chentsova).

Barrack #2 Міжнародний день музеїв святкуватиметься традиційно 18 травня 2019 року. ICOM (International council of museums) – це міжнародне об’єднання музеїв та професійних музейних працівників, які займаються збереженням, охороною та популяризацією світової природничої і культурної матеріальної і нематеріальної спадщини, визначив цьогорічну тему – «Музеї як культурні хаби. Майбутнє чи традиція». У цій візії музей розуміється як «культурний хаб» (англ. hub) – «серце» сучасного суспільства, що налагоджує зв’язки між культурами та створює інтелектуальне підґрунтя для їх мирного співіснування і стабільного майбутнього. Досвід проектно-виставкової діяльності 2018 року показав, що для Меморіального музею тоталітарних режимів «Територія Терору» таким місцем є Барак #2, де ми працюємо над створенням платформи для дискусії над гостросоціальними темами сьогодення, зокрема проблемою порушення прав людини, територіальної цілісності України, інформування громадськості про українських політв’язнів Кремля. International Day of Museums will be traditionally celebrated on May, 18, 2019. ICOM (International council of museums) – is an international association of museums and professional museum staff who deal with preservation, protection, and promotion of world natural and cultural material and non-material heritage, identified the topic for this year – “Museums as Cultural Hubs. Future or Tradition.”

This vision of museums implies that the museum is a cultural hub – the “heart” of contemporary society that establishes links between cultures and creates an intellectual background for their peaceful co-existence and sustainable future.

Experience of projects and exhibitions in 2018 showed that for the memorial museum “Territory of Terror” of totalitarian regimes, this kind of place is barrack #2, where we work to create a discussion platform for pertinent social topics, such as the problem of breaking human rights, compromising territorial integrity of Ukraine, for informing citizens about Ukrainian political prisoners of the Kremlin.

Here, we organize discussions, presentations, discussions of films, conferences, workshops, temporary exhibitions, and art projects.

#unheard is a new project of the museum The middle of the 20th century in the history of Ukraine was the time of large scale social disasters.

Over the long time, the voices of eye-witnesses of the Nazi and Soviet regimes have been ignored, considered inconvenient to mention, and unheard.

Today, their stories are an important source not only for our comprehension of the traumatic past, but also for better understanding of current reality. #unheard is the follow-up and extension of the oral history project “Living History” run by the museum.

Філіал музею «Музей репресованих дітей» Branch of museum “Museum of Repressed Children” 30 листопада 2017 року відбулося підписання договору про співпрацю між музеєм «Територія Терору» та громадською організацією «Львівське обласне товариство політичних в'язнів і репресованих» щодо спільної діяльності над створенням та функціонуванням меморіального музею неповнолітніх політичних в'язнів. Музей створюватиметься як окремий філіал Меморіального музею тоталітарних режимів «Територія Терору».

4 квітня 2018 року у музеї відбулася презентація концепції «Музею репресованих дітей», що включає роботу з поняттями «діти-політв’язні» та «діти політв’язнів» і метою якої є показати місце дитини в тоталітарній системі, порівняти німецький і радянський тоталітаризм у ставленні до неповнолітніх членів суспільства, а також характерну рису тоталітарної влади – використання дітей як заручників системи, засіб тиску на батьків зокрема і все суспільство загалом. On November, 30, 2017, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the museum “Territory of Terror” and the “Lviv Regional Society of Political Prisoners and Repressed Persons” NGO on joint activities to establish and launch the memorial museum on the underage political prisoners. The museum will be designed as an autonomous branch of the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes “Territory of Terror”.

On April, 4, 2018, the museum hosted a presentation for the concept of the “Museum of Repressed Children.” It would focus on the notions of “children political prisoners” and “children of political prisoners” in order to show the place of a child within the totalitarian system, to compare German and Soviet totalitarianism in attitudes towards the underage citizens, as well as a typical sign of totalitarian regimes such as exploiting children as hostages of the system, as a means of pressure on parents, in particular, and on society in general. The project development is underway.

У 2019 році внаслідок кількарічної дискусії з експертним середовищем та представниками органів місцевого самоврядування музей отримав 5 горельєфів зі стели Монументу Бойової слави Збройних Сил СРСР для подальшого дослідження, збереження та експонування на території музею. Об’єкти чекає фахова експертиза мистецтвознавців та істориків. Після досліджень у музеї відбудеться ряд освітніх заходів, щодо того як працювати зі спадщиною, роз'яснення історичного контексту створення та які існують відомі прецеденти роботи музеїв з подібними монументами в Україні та світі.

In 2019, after several years of discussions with experts, and local authorities, the museum received 5 haut reliefs from the stela of the Monument of the Combat Glory of the USSR Armed Forces for further research, storage, and exhibiting in the museum. The items shall undergo expert evaluation by art scholars and historians.

After the completion of the study, the museum will run a number of educational events on how to deal with heritage, to explain the historical context of production, and on other known cases of museums dealing with such monuments in Ukraine and internationally.

Своїм прикладом ми хочемо показати, що українські музеї повинні не боятися таких об’єктів, долучатися до слухань, досліджувати, зберігати і створювати навколо цього наукову дискусію. Це історична і мистецька цінність і ми вважаємо, що в подальшому з цим можна цікаво працювати на благо нашого музею, нашого міста.

The haut reliefs symbolize key combatant arms such as infantry, tank crewmen, artillery, aviation, and the Navy. Our museum is very happy to be entrusted by the city to keep the objects. We would like to set an example to show that Ukrainian museums shall not be afraid of such exhibits, but join the hearings, research, preserve, and generate the scholarly discussion around them. It is a historical and artistic value, and we believe that in the future it would be interesting to work with the exhibits for the benefit of the museum, and our city.

23 лютого 2018 року виконавчий комітет Львівської міської ради затвердив рішення «Про вжиття заходів з усунення аварійності Монумента бойової слави радянських збройних сил на вул. Стрийській», відповідно до якого Галицька районна адміністрація визначена замовником проведення першочергових протиаварійних робіт Монументу Слави. Демонтаж розпочався 25 січня 2019 року. Перші 2 горельєфи музей отримав 31 січня 2019 року.

On November, 23, 2018, executive committee of Lviv city council approved the decision “On Taking Measures to Eliminate the Risk of Accidents at the Monument of Combat Glory of Soviet Armed Forces at Stryiska Street”. According to the decision, Halytska district administration was set as a commissioner for performing urgent emergency works at the Monument of Combat Glory. Dismantling started on January, 25, 2019.

The Museum received the first 2 haut reliefs on January, 31, 2019.

Про Монумент згідно інформації проекту «Інтерактивний Львів» On the Monument according to the data from the “Lviv Interactive” project Монумент встановили 1970 року. Його авторами були скульптори Дмитро Крвавич, Емануїл Мисько, Ярослав Мотика, художник-монументаліст Олександр Пирожков i архітектори Мирон Вендзилович та Аполон Огранович. Присутність монумента сьогодні є предметом гострих дискусій. 2007 року напис «Слава советской армии» замінили на «Переможцям над нацизмом».

The Monument was installed in 1970. It was authored by the sculptors Dmytro Krwawic, Emanuil Mysko, Yaroslav Motyka, a monumentalist artist Oleksandr Pyrozhkov and an architect Myron Vendzylovych and Apolon Ohranovych. The presence of the monument today is a subject of heated debate. In 2007, the inscription “Glory to Soviet Army” (in Russian) was replaced by the “To the Winners Over Nazism” (in Ukrainian).

Пам'ятник встановили у травні 1970 року. Місце обрали на одній з головних магістралей, що веде до міста з півдня – на розі вулиць Стрийської та тодішньої Гвардійської (сучасна вулиця Героїв Майдану). Раніше тут розміщувався Стрийський цвинтар (заснований у 1780-х, закритий в середині ХІХ століття). Під час Першої світової війни тут ховали російських солдат, а в час Другої світової війни – військових Вермахту. З іншого боку, пам'ятник слугує монументальним завершенням головної алеї Парку культури та відпочинку імені Богдана Хмельницького: ця алея стрімко піднімається від сучасної вулиці Вітовського до вулиці Стрийської, обабіч неї в радянський час стояли пам'ятники Леніну і Сталіну.

The monument was installed in May, 1970. The location was chosen on one of the main roads running to the city from the south – at the corner of Stryiska Street and the then Hvardiyska Street (presently – Heroyiv Maydanu Street). In the past, a Stryiskyi cemetery was located there (established in the 1780s, and closed down in the mid 19th century).

During the First World War, Russian soldiers were buried there; during the Second World War, the cemetery had graves of Wermacht soldiers. On the other hand, the monuments is a monumental closure of the main alley of the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Park of Culture and Leisure: the alley rises sharply from the present Vitovskoho Street to Stryiska Street, along the alley, there were monuments to Lenin and to Stalin in the Soviet times.

Монумент є комплексом та займає значну площу, що замощена бетонними та гранітними плитами. Центр його композиції – масивні бронзові фігури солдата-червоноармійця і «Батьківщини-матері». Високий стовп збоку обличкований червоним гранітом, має бронзові горельєфи із зображенням різних родів військ. Тлом для цих вертикальних фігур є горизонтальна стела, що зведена із залізобетону, облицьована плитками лабрадориту і має з обох боків масивні горельєфи, що зображають сюжети з історії радянської армії, включення Західної України до СРСР.

The monument is a complex, and covers a large area paved with concrete and granite slabs. In the center of the arrangement, there are massive bronze figures of a Red Army soldier and the Motherland. The tall post on the side is clad in red granite. It has bronze haut reliefs depicting various combatant arms. The vertical figures stand in the background of the horizontal stela made of reinforced concrete and lined with labradorite tiles; there are massive haut reliefs on both sides depicting stories from the history of Soviet Army, and inclusion of Western Ukraine to the Soviet Union.

В основі першочергової архітектурної концепції музею – показати «однакове обличчя терору», шляхом відтворення типових архітектурних форм – «символів» тоталітаризму і несвободи – бараки, сторожові вежі, вагон, колію, високий паркан і колючий дріт. Вхідні ворота до музею – музейна копія воріт до табору примусових робіт «Янівська» – основного центру здійснення нацистського терору у Львові та Західній Україні протягом німецької окупації 1941–1944 рр. Кам’яний мур і бетонний штучно створений ландшафт додають музею особливої атмосфери – місця у якому «відсутнє» життя. Під час спілкування з відвідувачами музею та експертним середовищем поступово виникло питання «оживлення» музею, адже, створюючи дискусійну платформу навколо тем минулого, ми актуалізуємо історію у сьогоденні. Окрім того, музей не є місцем, де «зупинився» час і історія. Ми – динамічний музей, де історія проживається тут і зараз. У 2018 році ми звернулися до архітекторів та ландшафтних дизайнерів, які сформували перші пропозиція проектів «оживлення» музею шляхом озеленення. Пошук власного «обличчя» триває дотепер. Менторами події стали Андрій Лесюк і Христина Пундак (Guess Line Architects, переможці конкурсу простору Пам‘яті Небесної Сотні у Львові), Олександр Шутюк та Олександра Сладкова (ЛКП «Інститут просторового розвитку»). Відправні точки та завдання до перетворень від музею надали директорка Ольга Гончар та архітектор, автор проекту музею Остап Гром («Архітектурне бюро Громів»). Учасниками воркшопу стали заздалегідь зареєстровані фахівці з різних сфер та студенти архітектурних спеціальностей. Проблемними є питання відсутності місць відпочинку перед музеєм та на його території, відсутність тіні та наявність неприкритих дисонуючих об‘єктів навколо музею (будівлі, реклама, вивіски, всохлих дерев). Також важливо, щоб ландшафт підтримував історію постійної експозиції, яка розповідає про перетворення людини на номер, через перенесення відвідувача у атмосферу минулого та представлення різних етапів терору від 30-х років та до закінчення Другої світової війни (допит, обшук квартири, пересилка, виживання, колаборація тощо). Учасники воркшопу розділили територію музею на 4 логічні частини: площа перед входом, зона залізничної станції, простір рефлексії та простір виходу з музею.

The architectural concept of the museum is about showing “the same face of terror” by recreating typical architectural forms, “symbols” of totalitarianism and un-freedom, such as barracks, watchtowers, a railway carriage, a rail track, a high fence, and the barbed wire. The entrance gate to the museum is the museum replica of the gate to the Janowska slave labour camp as the key center for exercising Nazi terror in Lviv and in Western Ukraine during the German occupation in 1941–1944. The stone wall and the artificially produced concrete landscape contribute to the museum’s peculiar atmosphere as the place where life is “absent”.

Conversations with museum visitors and with expert environment raised an issue to “liven up” the museum, as by creating the discussion platform around the topics of the past we actualize the history in the present. In addition, the museum is not the place where time and history “froze”. We are a dynamic museum where history is lived here and now.

In 2018, we requested from architects and landscape designers to draft first project proposals to “liven up” the museum by adding greenery thereto. Search for its own “face” is ongoing. The event mentors were Andriy Lesiuk and Khrystyna Pundak (Guess Line Architects, winners of the competition for the space of Memory of the Heavenly Hundred in Lviv), Oleksandr Shutiuk and Oleksandra Sladkova (Lviv municipal company “Institute of Spatial Development”). Starting points and transformation tasks from the museum were submitted by a director Olha Honchar and by Ostap Hrom, an architect and museum project author (“Hrom Architectural Bureau”). Workshop participants were the registered experts from different fields and students majoring in architecture.

Another problem is in the lack of recreation places in front of the museum and on its premises, no shadow and uncovered dissonant objects around the museum (buildings, advertisements, signboards, deadwood). It is also important to have the landscape support the history of permanent display and tell about the shift of a human being into a number tag. It is achieved through transferring a visitor into the atmosphere of the past and by presenting different stages of terror since the 1930s until the end of the Second World War (interrogation, search of apartments, transfer, survival, collaboration, etc.).

Workshop participants divided museum territory into 4 logical sections: the space in front of the entrance, railway station zone, space for reflection, and the area at the exit from the museum.

Зона перед входом задумана авторами музею як стилізований міський простір вулиці 30-х років. З тогочасними афішами на стінах, транспортом, тощо. Проте вона не реалізована до кінця. Ця ідея видалася учасникам воркшопу досить цікавою, та водночас вони запропонували три альтернативи. Усі погодилися, що простір відкритий для всіх 24 години на добу і видимий як з вулиці, так і з поїздів. Його ідея: між комфортним повсякденням і терором – один крок, як у часі, так і у просторі. Відомо, що львівське ґетто у часи Другої світової війни було найбільшим у Східній Європі і стало для Львова місцем страждань і болю, а міст на вулиці Чорновола – «мостом смерті».

The area in front of the entrance was designed by museum authors as a stylized urban space of the 1930s street, with the posters of those times, vehicles, etc. However, it was not fully implemented. Workshop participants found the idea rather interesting, and at the same time they suggested three alternatives.

Everyone agreed that the space is open for everyone round the clock and can be seen both from the street and from the trains. The idea was as follows: the comfortable everyday life and terror are only separated by one step, both in time, and in space. It is known that during the Second World War, Lviv ghetto was the largest ghetto in East Europe and became for Lviv the place of suffering and pain, while the bridge on Chornovola Street became the “bridge of death.”

Громадський простір з центральним елементом – великим об‘єктом, який можна ідентифікувати з поїзда, наприклад, голова скульптури тирана, що поступово поглинається в‘юнкими рослинами.

Public space with the center piece – a large object that can be identified from the train, for example, head of the sculpture of a tyrant to be gradually covered with vining plants.

Зона імпровізованої залізничної станції Improvised Railway Station Zone Ця зона – механізм раптового залучення відвідувачів в атмосферу терору. Різке рухоме світло, аудіосупровід (гавкання великих собак), створення ілюзії перебування уже в далекому просторі інших кліматичних зон, куди вивозили людей (наприклад, берези), нічна акцентована підсвітка червоного кольору, що вводиться в дію під час проїзду поїзда. Бетонні стіни, які за проектом передбачалося заповнити історичною інформацією, на воркшопі вирішили залишити вільними, та з ідеєю нанесення гідрофобною фарбою зображень тіней людей, які будуть видимі лише при намоканні стін під час дощу або навмисного виливання води.

The area acts as a mechanism of sudden involvement of visitors into the atmosphere of terror.

Sharp moving light, audio support (barking of large dogs). Creating an illusion of staying in the remote place of other climate zones whereto people were deported (for example, birch trees), the night accentuated red backlighting put on when the train is passing. It was decided at the workshop to leave blank the concrete walls that were supposed to be filled with historical data. The idea was suggested to paint the shadows of people in hydrophobic paint that would be visible only when the walls are getting wet during the rain or when water is poured intentionally.

Reflection area

Вихід з експозиції першого бараку – через вузький прохід з системами огородження, що нагадуватимуть концентраційні чи трудові табори. Після кількох метрів такого коридору відвідувач потрапляє до зони рефлексії – зручного, наповненого рослинами громадського простору, що уособлює життя після терору. Важливо, що рослини, які ростимуть в цій зоні були певними символами пам’яті (терен, барвінок, мак).

The exit from the exhibition of barrack No. 1 goes through the narrow passage with the fencing systems reminding of concentration camps or labour camps. After several meters of such a corridor, a visitor gets into the area for reflection, a comfortable public space filled with plants that impersonate life after terror. It is important to have the plants growing within this area to act as certain symbols of memory (thorn, periwinkle, poppy).

Площа парковки задньої частини музею – невиправдано велика. А музей не має зони очікування та зони кав‘ярні і сувенірної крамниці. Запропоновано додати ще одну будівлю для цих функцій.

Також серед ідей: перенесення зупинки громадського транспорту на площу перед музеєм, що привергуло би увагу до музею, та допомогло розв’язати проблему відсутності комфортної зупинки біля торгового центру «Форум Львів». Також обговорено перспективу розробки окуляр з доповненою реальністю на тлі ландшафту музею.

The area of the parking lot in the background of the museum is outsized. On the other hand, the museum does not have any waiting area, or coffee area, or the souvenir shop. It was suggested to add another building for these functions.

Other ideas include: shifting the public transport stop to the square in front of the museum which would attract more attention to the museum and help resolve an issue of lack of comfortable bus-stop near the Forum Lviv trade center. In addition, a prospect was discussed to develop augmented reality glasses with museum landscape in the background.

Завдання 2019 року: Участь у зовнішньому плановому аудиті щодо роботи інституції за 2015–2018 роки та усунення недоліків. Запуск квиткового господарства «під ключ»: розробка та впровадження вхідного квитка на територію музейного комплексу, обрахування вартості, забезпечення технічної і кадрової баз. Розробка положення та впровадження платних послуг на базі музею. Оновлення інформаційних ресурсів музею: навігація на території музейного комплексу, сайт, сторінки у соціальних мережах та мережі Інтернет, екскурсії, друковані матеріали (флаєра, брошури тощо). Доукомплектація технічної бази – закупівля обладнання для онлайн-стрімів, проведення екскурсій, фото та відео техніка, меблі для комфорту відвідувачів, облаштування офісу. Поглиблення роботи над завданнями 2018 року: Формування команди музею та, адаптація штату під потреби музею, командоутворення, організація навчання персоналу. Продовження формування колекційного зібрання музею та його належне збереження згідно умов чинного законодавства (розробка та впровадження документально-методологічної бази, облаштування приміщення, організація належної технічної і програмної бази). Робота над проектом #непочуті. Перегляд та оновлення статутних документів музею, зокрема статуту, колективного договору, правил внутрішнього розпорядку та інших.
