William V. “Bill” Jackson William Verner “Bill” Jackson, age 72, a local long-time farmer passed away Monday morning (January 9, 2012) at his home near Atlanta, Missouri. Bill was born in Lake Forest, Illinois, on June 29, 1939 the son of Vivan and Leona (Fitzke) Jackson. On August 8, 1959 at the Atlanta Christian Church he was united in marriage to Willadean Doggett, who survives. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Lavern on July 11, 2006 and a sister, Marilyn Franke. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, two granddaughters, Whitney Lavern of Jacksonville and Ladeana Marie of Atlanta; two step-grandsons, Ryan Gordon of Ft. Leonard, Missouri and Willy Gordon and wife, Haru of Japan; nieces and nephews including Ronda March and husband Keith and Renita Waldron of Macon, Curtis Franke and wife, Judy of La Plata, Rex Franke and wife, Jennifer, Karl Franke, Kent Franke and wife, April, all of Novelty, and Marie Leonhart and husband, Andrew of Kansas; other relatives and many friends. Bill grew up in the Sue City area and later moved north of Plainview. He was a graduate of the La Plata High School Class of 1957. Bill and his wife owned Plainview Store, west of Atlanta for a few years. In 1962 he began his life long vocation of farming. He loved farming and farmed with his son for 26 years until Lavern’s death in 2006. At the present time he still enjoyed watching others farm the land God so graciously allowed him to own. Bill enjoyed hunting, traveling and spending time with his friends and the morning coffee club. Bill obeyed God’s calling and was baptized when he was 17 years old. His faith was a priority in his life and he was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church. Memorial are suggested to the Tri-County Christian School. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (January 12, 2012) at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta with Brother Jeff Jordan and Elder Jack Davison officiating. Casketbearers were Eric Sears, Curtis Franke, Lynn Lyda, Karl Franke, Cody Lewis, Wayne Beeson, Keith March and Charley Watson. Honorary bearers were Dr. Ferrel Moots, Mitch Dixson and Daron Baker. Rosalee Davison Coy Rosalee Davison Coy 90 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (January 12, 2012) at Kirksville Manor Care. Rosalee was born May 20, 1921, the daughter of Walter Sears and Mary Christina (Umbarger) Davison. On November 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to Carl Coy. Rosalee in survived by her children, Sandra Lay of Kirksville, Donna (Gary) Clarkson of LaPlata, Carlos (Karen) Coy of LaPlata, and Karen (Dick) Osborn of Kirksville; one sister, Mary Slawson of La Plata, Missouri; two brothers, Tom (Velda) Davison of Columbia, MO and Walter (Reta) Davison of Kirksville; grandchildren, Carla Mayer, Pam Protzman, Julie Lay, Bradley Lay, Christina Findling, Scott Clarkson, Michael Parsons, Debra Smith, and Jeffrey Parsons; three step-grandchildren, Tony Osborn, Elizabeth Penkert and Danny Smith; 18 great grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl in 2003 and sisters, Faye (Elmer) Perry and Margaret (Chris) Christianson. Rosalee was raised on a farm east of Millard, attending Millard and Prairie View schools and

graduating from Kirksville Senior High School in 1939. She attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College for one year earning her teaching certificate. She taught one year at Prairie View School before she married Carl and moved to the Coy family farm in the Pure Air community. There she raised her children until moving to Kirksville in 1955. Rosalee and Carl bought a house on West Shelby street where they lived out their working years, then moved to Fjeld Arms apartments where she resided until recently moving to Kirksville Manor Care. She had been employed by International Shoe Company, McGraw Edison Company and Kirksville Manor Care. Rosalee was a caring wife and a loving mother who enjoyed her family, going dancing, reading, fishing at Branson and traveling. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, RSVP and the First United Methodist Church. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (January 15, 2012) with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Entombment was in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Park View Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Charles “Dean” Nuhn Charles “Dean” Nuhn, 65, a Northland resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, (January 10, 2012) in Liberty, Missouri. Dean was born June 17, 1946 to Claud and Helen (Jackson) Nuhn. He married Marsha Sampson on June 15, 1966 in Mexico. Dean received his BS in Geography from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri and his MA in Education from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois. He returned to school to receive a Masters in Divinity degree from Midwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Dean was a woodworking teacher at Proviso West High School in Hillside, Illinois and a K-12 Principal in Bevier, Missouri. He was self-employed as a carpenter; remodeling homes and business spaces. He was the pastor of a small country church for a short time. Dean was able to combine his passions of carpentry, evangelism and travel to pursue his international ministries. He was blessed to travel to all 50 states and 35 countries with family and friends. Dean’s greatest enjoyment came from wrestling with his eight grandchildren. Survivors include, wife Marsha of the home; son, Tony Nuhn and wife, Jonni of Kearney, Missouri, daughter, Deana (Nuhn) Meyer and husband, Kirk of Parkville, Missouri, and son, Steve Nuhn and wife, Molly of Moberly, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Daniel, Spencer, Frank, Emily, Caroline, and Ella; two brothers, Gary Nuhn and wife, Priscilla of Novinger, Missouri, and Stephen Nuhn and wife, Elaine of Anabel, Missouri; nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, (January 13, 2012) at the Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. A funeral service celebrating Dean’s life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, (January 14, 2012) at the funeral chapel. Graveside services and burial followed at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (January 14, 2012) at the La Plata Cemetery (new addition, east of Highway 63), La Plata, Missouri. Following the graveside service, family recieved friends at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in La Plata, Missouri.
