MONEYTALK
QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER • SUMMER EDITION
Message From Our President
Summer is finally here, and while we would love to take a moment to enjoy it, we have a very busy season ahead. Our primary focus is the transition to a new operational system, commonly referred to as the core system. This core conversion involves numerous steps over the span of a year, and we have confidence in our team and our vendors to ensure a smooth process. Please note that this transition may require some system downtime, which is why you might occasionally receive emails indicating that our systems will be offline. We understand this can be inconvenient, but rest assured, these necessary changes will lead to a more efficient and improved experience for our members.
Speaking of improvements, we are excited about the launch of our Next
Gen digital banking experience for online and mobile banking users. This enhancement, released on May 12th, includes upgrades for customizing your home screen, account widgets, and security measures. For a complete list of changes in the Next Gen digital banking, please visit CU News at triangleuniversity.com.
Security remains a top priority for us, and protecting your membership is essential. As a reminder, never share your member number or verification codes with anyone over the phone, even if they claim to be from Triangle’s Fraud Department. Scammers can be convincing and may spoof Triangle’s local phone number. If you receive a call that raises suspicion, please hang up and send a secure message through our online or mobile banking platforms.
Special Notice
Biennial Verification
As part of the duties and responsibilities of the Supervisory Committee of Triangle Credit Union, we must conduct a verification of accounts with the Credit Union's records at least once every two years. The purpose of the verification is to detect errors, and it is a good control to prevent fraud.
The Supervisory Committee has selected this month to conduct its verification. Kindly compare your statement balances with your records. If they do not agree, please report any differences immediately to:

Fraud Education:
Is it a Survey or a Scam?
No matter what time of the year, there always seems to be the need for a perfect gift for a loved one. Whether you’re planning to shop online or at a local store, retailers may send you surveys via email that include rewards such as special offers and/or coupons. This is also a common way that scammers will attempt to access your personal information.
Scammers pose as well-known brands and send emails that promote extravagant rewards, like a new iPhone or gift cards in exchange for your time and information. The majority of

these emails claim there is a limited number of rewards remaining and create a level of urgency to complete the survey. At the end of the survey, you’re told that you have won the prize and all that you have to do is pay for delivery—the fake prize and request for your shipping details are methods used to gather your name, address, and payment information. To protect yourself, remind yourself of these “if” scenarios: If you are asked for unexpected information or to make a payment, the survey is likely a scam.
If it sounds too good to be true, it more than likely is! No one hands out free cell phones, cars, or other extravagant rewards over the internet.

If you’ve received an email survey, you can always confirm the credibility of the email with the retailer directly. By doing so, you could be making the retailer aware of a scam attempt they may not have known about. If in doubt, opt out and don’t complete the survey!
