A LASTING LEGACY OF INSPIRATION Carol Reiner
In 2018, the Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation Board lost an extraordinary honorary member: Carol Reiner. Carol embodied the rare characteristic of deeply caring for others. As a minister’s daughter with seven siblings, she was instilled early with tremendous faith and a desire to serve. After high school, she attended Knapp College of Nursing and began a vocation as a Registered Nurse on the Central Coast. Working in three hospitals stretching from The late Carol Reiner served Marian and Oxnard to San Luis Obispo, Carol her community with wisdom and grace. An Honorary Foundation Board Member, Carol left started her connection with Santa a legacy of love in Santa Maria. Maria through Marian’s first hospital, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Hospital. As a home health and hospice nurse, she valued her time caring for her patients— many in the final stages of life—and being a source of comfort to their families. In retirement, Carol furthered her life of service as a volunteer at Marian. As a volunteer at the Cancer Center, she was active in giving of her time to the medical center. She also served on Marian's Hospital Community Board and the Foundation Board, serving as Chair in 2008. In August of 2017, Carol received the medical center’s most esteemed honor, the Distinguished Service Award, in appreciation for her service to Marian as a medical professional, volunteer, and supporter. Recognized for her continued years of service to the Marian community, she displayed beauty and grace in every endeavor. Marian Regional Medical Center remains grateful to Carol for her legacy of inspiration, service, and her spirit of giving to Santa Maria will forever be remembered.
