In the Santa Maria Valley, the community continues to grow at a rapid pace, and according to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 40% of Santa Maria residents are under the age of 18. With this sustained growth, Marian Regional Medical Center seeks to cultivate care in the region for critically ill and injured children.

As of 2018, Marian has served 35,000 pediatric patients a year, which is a 26% increase in pediatric volume since the opening of the new hospital in 2012. With a lack of highly specialized pediatric care on the Central Coast, Marian Regional Medical Center is advancing pediatric services through the development of three important areas: pediatric cardiology, pediatric oncology, and pediatric outpatient specialty care services.
