Marian Regional Medical Center took a quantum leap forward in 2018 with the acquisition and unveiling of the most advanced robotic surgery technology available with the da Vinci Xi Surgical System.

What sets this particular system apart is its exceptional capability in performing minimally-invasive surgical procedures for gynecology, urology, gynecologic oncology, colorectal, and general surgery.

The da Vinci Xi Surgical System is the most advanced robotic surgery option and is now available at Marian Regional Medical Center.

The Xi System has broader capabilities than previous versions, including the da Vinci Si model that Marian previously utilized since 2011. Offering greater dexterity and vision, the surgeon is able to perform procedures utilizing smaller, more precise movements which benefits our patients. Additionally, with this surgical technology, Marian will now have the ability to perform an advanced gynecologic procedure called sentinel lymph node mapping.

The da Vinci Xi System is an expandable robotic technology platform that has the capability to seamlessly integrate current technologies as well as future innovations.

The da Vinci Xi technology was on hand at Marian in September 2018 and allowed local students an opportunity to try their (robotic) hands at a demonstration. Student attendees were even able to help select a new name for our robot, Wall-E.
