definitely been an interesting It’smonth. My heart goes out to the families of those that were killed and injured during the Christchurch attack. My heart goes out to those that passed doing what they believe in, and in peace. My heart goes out to all New Zealanders who have stood hand in hand and prayed, talked to and protected the Muslim community as they mourned their loved ones. It’s a sad way to start this issue however, it’s a powerful way to start our life in the magazine world and a chance to stand up against the violence and the horror of what occurred in New Zealand. Some of the reported images and radio interviews have been both disturbing and empowering.

It’s demonstrated just how divided this world can be

This conveys such a positive message of hope that this planet may someday find a harmonious balance of peace and respect for all people. It’s not about the ‘I’ and self-centeredness it’s about the ‘YOU’ and the interconnectedness of humanity. To those first responders, what can anyone say to the horror witnessed on that day! Then there is the New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern. What an amazing, empathic person she is and what a leader among men! I lived in Christchurch as a babe for a year and while I don’t have very many memories, a piece of me still lives there. The resilience of the people of New Zealand has always been unwavering in the face of a crisis. They will come through this stronger and more united and I hope that will promote more love and unity on a worldwide scale. Kia Kaha – Stay Strong! Our feature story this month explores in some detail the disaffected youth of today and why they feel they don’t have a tribe. Every generation encounters its own, unique set of challenges and it is important for our youth to feel heard, validated and included in our society.

however as we get older, I wonder if we get less tolerant? We also had the children marching for the environment. What an amazing thing that was. They have rights and choices and while personally I don’t go to protests, I applaud a scenario where our youth are being taught to love and respect and make a stand for OUR planet.

I worry about our planet and what my grandkids might inherit to live on eventually. Maybe, just maybe, our government should listen to these kids as they are our future! They will be looking after the planet long after I am gone. Yes, there’s a case for learning and yes, there’s a case for speaking and well balanced discussion. Until we can all sit around the table and discuss things that we are passionate about without violence, nothing will change. I truly hope we can change and that having a voice heard and listened to, is always worth living for! There are some great columns inside the mag this month and it’s obvious that our

Power to the People Christina Watt

Choice by definition is the right or ability to choose - to make our own decisions based on our individual circumstances. For years, Australians with private health policies have had the right to choose to be covered for rebates on natural therapies. In September 2018 the Senate, with the support of Labor and the Greens, passed the Federal Governments’ health insurance reform laws. It was announced that as of 1st April 2019, private health insurers will no longer be permitted to provide extras cover for the following natural therapies: Alexander Technique, Aromatherapy, Bowen Therapy, Butekyo, Feldenkrais, Western Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Iridology, Kinesiology, Naturopathy, Pilates, Reflexology, Rolfing, Shiatsu, Tai Chi and Yoga. The Your Health Your Choice Consumer Campaign is Australia’s largest consumer driven campaign advocating for healthcare choice. According to Your Health Your Choice (YHYC), what is behind all of these drastic cuts and proposed changes are Government-funded reports that declare there is NO evidence that these natural therapies are effective yet the Government is using the reports to justify restricting your choice in healthcare. Since these reforms were announced almost 110,000 people have signed a Senate petition calling for an inquiry into bias and procedural and scientific misconduct associated with the natural therapies included in the Review of the Australian Government Rebate on Private Health Insurance for Natural Therapies, conducted by the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) between 2012 and 2014. The Liberal National Government has now announced they will commission an updated review of natural therapies, including a five year update to its 2014-15 review of natural therapies – providing it is done transparently and ethically. Your Health Your Choice spokesperson Ms Petrina Reichman said, “This announcement is a result of the LNP (Liberal National Party) bowing to pressure from the 13,323 Australians that personally wrote to Minister Hunt and LNP MPs and Senators since February this year, in addition to thousands of others that wrote to Minister Hunt after the policy became law in September 2018.” Other groups and experts have also presented the Government with up to date research demonstrating effectiveness for many of the affected therapies. This is an example of our ability to rally together to be heard and achieve an outstanding outcome. It is a great reminder of how we can effect change by standing up to have our voices heard - never underestimate the power of the people. The Government will invest up to $2 million to support this review. This updated review will commence in mid 2019 with the final review report to be provided to Government in 2020. We will be keeping an eye on future developments.

Can we make peace with anger?

W

What most people do not know is that anger is a secondary emotion, meaning that anger wells up from the experience of primary emotions like sadness, guilt, hurt, disgust and resentment. Anger is the most volatile of all the emotions and is easily misdirected. Most often this is because we are not aware of other emotions existing under the surface of anger. Ever had that sinking feeling that we have disproportionately over-reacted to a situation and are puzzled as to why? That’s because there can be many emotional triggers within our subconscious minds operating without our conscious awareness.

e know what it’s like to feel angry, right? We feel enraged, our pulse races, our muscles tighten and we feel shaky and nauseous seemingly all at once.

Since we were infants, we have stored everything within our subconscious memory including our joys and hurts. When we feel a familiar emotion, even though the context of the situation may be very different, it can Anger is a powerful emotion and one that is literally trigger a lifetime of feelings all at once. poorly understood. That’s why it is important to do self-work. However, if we hold onto anger for long periods, we hurt in ways we often cannot see immediately, our physical and emotional health can suffer and that’s not healthy for us. Likewise, if we project anger towards others, we can often say and do things we really didn’t want to and then have compounding issues to deal with which are also damaging.

The key to dissipating anger is actually to tune into it; to treat every situation as an opportunity to learn. Do not be afraid to spend time with anger, feel through it, accept and acknowledge how you truly feel. If you feel angry, bring your awareness to what you feel - I feel angry about… (and identify the situation and why you feel angry). For

Because of its intensity, we often associate it with being out of control but the reality is, anger is valid and no less important that our many other emotions. Instead of judging and rejecting yourself, apply some well-deserved empathy. You may not know what has caused the anger yet, but have faith because the answers will come. You may need time to work through it. Time is often what is most needed. Research by Nadler, 2015 has found that, when we are in a state of emotional hyperarousal (experiencing strong emotions), it reduces our IQ by 10-15 points, meaning we are not thinking the most clearly at that time and not able to make the best decisions. That’s why it is recommended to always process our emotions at a later time when we are feeling calmer and clearer. If you feel you have overreacted to a triggering event, follow the trail back to where you have felt that same feeling before. It’s likely that your reaction is because you have experienced this many times over as far back as childhood and it is now more amplified. Once we understand our triggers, we can understand ourselves and defuse anger more rapidly. The eventual outcome is that when we recognise the emotions we are sitting with

This trend will not stop, so ‘buyer beware’, when searching out a hypnotist. Manifesting Maven

Creating the Ultimate Business Vision The

Aligned

Dr. Brooklyn Storme

What comes to mind when you think about creating a vision for your business? After coaching business owners from all over the world, it seems that one thing many have in common, is a tendency to overlook this element of the business process.

Vision is critical for success Regardless of where you are in your journey, there is always time to update your vision. In order to do this, we first need to understand what alignment is. Alignment is simply when what you feel matches up with what you are thinking or doing. We say that we are out of alignment when things are not matching up. Here’s an example: Let’s imagine I have been advised to increase my fees. I understand that I should

16

Supernal Magazine

Business

and that it is the right thing to do for the business, but I feel uncomfortable about it. I feel resistant, hesitant and heavy. For me to increase my fees now would be out of alignment with how I feel about it.

Series

Imagine the same scenario. I’ve been asked to raise my fees. I know I provide an excellent service, I know my clients benefit from my teachings, and I know they get amazing value from the tools I provide. I haven’t updated my fee recently either so, yes, I will proceed and increase my fee. This is aligned with how I feel. When we are creating (or updating) the business, the value of doing it from a place of alignment is priceless. When you feel like you are doing what you are born to do, the experience of business is one of excitement, of happy anticipation and of bright energy. And it’s this feeling that influences what you do, how you do it, who you work with, and your client base, how you market your business and more!

Exercise: Imagine that you are working in your business from a place of alignment, what would you be doing? Give yourself 10 minutes to free-write a response to this question.

Don’t edit, just let the stream of consciousness flow through your pen. Some additional prompts include: Where is the business located? What kind

Supernal

Business of clients are you attracting? What does the business look like? What is the vibe of the business? What is the culture of the business? What is the business known for? What awards has the business

begin to clarify the bigger picture. And this brings us to the next step in the process but first, a word on the mind. If you could imagine the mind like an iceberg, you’d observe that 80-90 percent of it sits below the water line and this refers to the subconscious mind. The tip of the iceberg represents the conscious mind.

The way through this is to create a vision that extends beyond your original one. Again, when creating the vision beyond the vision, you need to think about all of those prompts that we discussed previously. Think about the vision as if you already have it. You already have the 500K, so now what? What’s the next goal? Where are we going from here?

Our beliefs largely sit in the subconscious. And there’s another influencer when it comes to Law of Attraction (LOA) too. It’s called Ego.

Exercise: Spend 10 minutes writing a response to the following journal prompt: What is my vision beyond the vision?

The role of Ego is to keep us safe

won? How do you feel in the mornings before coming to work? How do you feel the night before the work week begins? What kind of lifestyle does the business enable you to enjoy? This exercise is powerful and people find that 10 minutes is not long enough to complete it and that’s okay. You can return to this activity any time. The more you begin to think about it, the more you can really

and it does this by keeping us operating from a familiar space, our usual mindset. You can think of this as the comfort zone. The Ego does not like it when we try to step outside because it worries we’ll be putting ourselves in harm’s way. This is important to understand because it explains why some of us almost, but not quite, achieve our business goals. If our mind doesn’t know what it looks like on the other side, it won’t let us go there. Your mind won’t let you achieve the 500K goal if it doesn’t know what that will look like, feel like, requires from you and so on.

How does it feel to have created this vision from a place of alignment? Does it feel exciting? Are you happy? Do you have clarity now? If not, that’s okay. Just spend some time over the next few days thinking about what you’ve read and start working on it today. In time you’ll find the business vision that feels right for you. Next month we will talk about the role of beliefs in manifesting your ideal business. If you have any questions about applying LOA tools to your business please email the magazine and we’ll endeavour to answer them for you. Happy manifesting!

SIGN of the Month Varij Varidium

Love, Pleasure and Meditation TAURUS – April 20 to May 21

“From pleasure comes sorrow, from pleasure comes fear; he who is free from pleasure is free from sorrow and fear. He who forgets the real aim of life and grasps at pleasure, will in time envy him who has exerted himself in meditation” Buddha (Dhammapada) It is a rare Taurean who will follow this advice of the Buddha, for Taureans are the most pleasure loving creatures of the zodiac. Ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty in her earthy, sensual aspect, they especially love a beautiful body - such a joy to have and to hold. Attuning more deeply to the sensual energy of Taurus, my thoughts lead naturally to the delights of concupiscence. I can feel myself entering that pleasure zone even as I write. M-m-m. May I suggest, make yourself comfortable as I begin to ‘channel’ Taurus in lover mode. To begin, lie down and relax. Visualize touching and being touched. Then hugging and stroking. Followed by a slow build that goes on and on - all night long. Scrumptious, absolutely scrumptious! Yes indeed, Taurus loves to make love, for to make love, as long and as often as possible, is how love is made and sustained on Earth. This at least is how Taurus sees it, and so I now proclaim on behalf of Taurus, that the body is holy and is to be loved wholly, in a spirit of joyful delight, without any sense of shame or inhibition whatsoever. I further declare that this proclamation is sanctioned and sanctified by the holy writ of the Earth Goddess Venus - Goddess of love and pleasure! To the consternation of many an abstemious or refined soul no doubt, Taureans can be absolutely insatiable. In love, as in music, they love a solid groove that ‘keeps on keeping on’. Bliss for them is the calm after the rush, the state of utter relaxation, the feeling of oh-so-delicious contentment after all that Aries excitement, tension, and explosive release. Buddha I ask you, could meditation really compare to this? The only valid way to answer that question is to try it and find out. Practice, patience and perseverance will be required, so don’t expect instant results and realise there is an art to it, like everything else. Better still Taurus, why not combine the two, making love and meditation. Of all the signs perhaps, you are most naturally suited to it. While joined together, stay present, here-now, in the body. Astrology soften the belly. Don’t strive for any kind of peak experience. Enjoy the garden of delights blooming in the valley. Be alert to thoughts and dreams of past and future taking you out of the body and into the mind. Keep your awareness centred in the body. Really feel the delicious sensation of skin-to-skin connection. Relax deeper into each other. Release any tension on the out-breath. Let go. Let go even more on the out breath, Aahh. Now rest and be absolutely still. Alert, yet relaxed - utterly relaxed. No thought, no mind, no past, no future. Just the sensation of pure pleasure here-now, in the body. Two bodies breathing, feeling as one. This is unity, union and bliss, the space of meditation. Recognize this Taurus? If not, why not experiment. Try it before expressing an opinion or rejecting it. Experience is the only true test. The evolutionary dynamics of the sign are superbly revealed in the life of Gautama the Buddha, by legend was born, realised enlightenment and died in the full moon in the month of May. Raised in a royal family of great wealth, he enjoyed all the delights of earthly life, yet, when confronted with the realities of old age, sickness and death in his late twenties, the realisation dawned that no earthly pleasure could offer lasting happiness. Thereupon, at 29, the age of the ‘Saturn Return’, he rebelled against expectation and abandoned the life of luxury, embarking upon a path of renunciation. He associated with learned teachers from whom he hoped to gain answers to his deepest existential questions, and practised austerities with all the perseverance and determination that Taurus is renowned for. However, after years of such enquiry and practice, and with his body having degenerated into a state of enfeebled emaciation, he concluded that what he was doing was not working. The path of asceticism had failed to deliver the wisdom and happiness he was seeking. Thereupon, he took food and ceased to deny the needs of the body, and, subsequent to his enlightenment, which he finally attained whilst meditating sitting under a tree, he advocated the adoption of a middle path between the extremes of sensual gratification and ascetic denial as the best foundation for the attainment of wisdom and inner peace. Even the way Buddha is physically depicted is thoroughly evocative of Venus ruled Taurus. Venus is the goddess of love, beauty and harmonious form, and the most common depiction of Buddha has him seated in calm repose emanating an aura of ineffable stillness, his inner and outer beauty as one, a defining image of tranquillity and serenity. Then there is the popular laughing Buddha iconography, which has him reclining on a sofa, rotund belly protruding. A paradigmatic example of a ‘happy fatty’. How different to the iconic Christian image of Christ crucified on the cross, with its connotations of unutterable suffering and sacrifice! Lets end with a Buddhist song of praise, rich in symbolic wisdom just right for Taurus: ‘O thou of perfect form and beauty rare / Of fairest parts and lovely to behold / Exalted One! As lotus born within a lake / By water no wise is defiled / But groweth fragrant, beautiful / So is the Buddha in this world / Born in the world and dwelling there / But by the world no wise defiled / Even as the lily by the lake.’ Varij Varidium

What’s With the Youth of Today?

S

o what’s up with young people? To even begin to understand the answers to this question, it is important to consider how the world is changing, the forces of uncertainty and how we do community. The 21st century can be a tough time to grow up. Many of our leaders and popular media tend to have extremely simplistic responses to the challenges that face our young people: judging, blaming, and dividing. In this article, sociologist and youth researcher Dr Ani Wierenga calls out to Supernal’s readers to take a different position. Could we instead observe the changes around young people, to move beyond knee-jerk reactions and controversy and ‘watch with our third eye and listen with our inner ear’. She invites readers to stand in solidarity with young people, and to work with them, as communities, towards more generous public commentaries, and more creative solutions.

Uncertainty Today’s young people are growing up facing huge uncertainties - personally, locally and globally. The 21st century can be recognised as a time of growing uncertainty. The uncertainty is personal - ‘What is my future?’- it is communal - ‘Who are my people?’ and it is global ‘What are the futures for our planet?’ The certainties that belonged to earlier generations are disappearing fast, with research showing this correlating to high levels of stress and anxiety.

The effects of uncertainty on the youth of today In Australia, as in many Western countries, statistics show young people’s mental health problems are on the rise and suicide is one of our biggest killers. We are seeing indicators of stress in our education systems, with over quarter of high-school aged young people not attending school, and another quarter saying they do not belong there. Polls show record levels of young people reporting loss of hope about the future. It is small wonder when we hear statistics such as The Foundation For Young

20

Supernal

Feature Australians’ research identifying that most of the jobs they are training for will soon be gone. Other research signals that animal species are disappearing rapidly and global warming is happening at an alarmingly quick pace. It is harder for young people who face their challenges alone, unsupported by family and friends, or supported by family and friends who are themselves feeling over-stretched. As the institutions on which our parents and their parents depended, like stable workplaces, clubs, extended kin, fade from their earlier place in society, the generations are becoming more isolated from each other and, for many, support networks become increasingly scarce. Facing uncertainties is something people can tackle, together. To do this means we have to be intentional about finding better ways of collaborating across generations. Seeking new ways to connect, particularly across difference - class, gender, race, ethnic groups, religion, and ability - is going to take a lot of will, patience and creative effort. Yet we know that many Supernal readers will already be involved in this kind of transformational work.

The wake-up calls are getting louder Part of what is happening on many fronts, as I write, is that more people are waking up to the reality that we are all deeply interconnected. That is, globally we are connected economically, socially, spiritually and ecologically. Every headline now seems to reinforce this message; when we create poverty, we will have to fortress against crime; where we create war, people are displaced and they will be at our door. Where we destroy life and abuse water, our very own food supplies will disappear. As the old adage says, what happens for one of us will affect us all. In the West, for a long time we have been able to deny this, but the time is approaching when we will have to reckon with the realities. And the realities are facing our young first, as they face their uncertain futures.

Towards more creative solutions Research with young people provides multiple ideas about better ways for working together. One way of thinking about solutions is repeated across a series of studies from the Youth Research Centre at the University

of Melbourne about young people’s wellbeing, learning and social participation. The three areas for attention are these: 1. Find the stories of meaning and purpose. As wise philosophers like Victor Frankl have taught us, when people have hope and purpose they can put up with tough times and incredible hardship. But it takes people to listen, for young people to learn to tell a story. A story about who I am, what I do and what matters to me, can be unlocked when a young person finds they are good at something – anything – and able to achieve a goal. For adults and by-standers the direction is clear: find an interest, a hobby, a skill or a passion, find an ember and make it a flame. Find a flame and make it a fire. To care about something, to be about something in the world provides energy for living and for hope. 2. Building a sense of control and capability. In the West, for the young, we have tended to think about this task very simply as being about workskills and economic stability but that is only part of the picture. In conditions of globalisation and automation, where work is so changeable, this can only be recognised as part of the answer, and people will need more to keep them going through the tough times. We need to reprioritise learning for life. Especially now, educational research points to the growing importance of so-called ‘soft skills’; the human skills that are transferrable, like creativity, lateral thinking and negotiation. This is important. Decision making is itself an important skill. Education – learning – needs to involve both input and active reflection. Meanwhile research into young people’s spirituality shows that both ritual and traditions can be helpful for finding a sense of moral compass, capability, control and order in one’s life, offering both simple actions and pause to reflect, to take stock of where one is. It is worth thinking about the traditions that might involve them and support them, as well as making space for their own spiritual expression. Such spaces would support them to explore and exercise

moral convictions as the powerful cultural claims they are, be it involvement in dance or trance, straight-edge or neo-gothic tribes or becoming vegan. At a more communal level, it is worth thinking also about the predictable moments in the seasons where we are prompted to reflect on who and where we are, such as New Year or particular festivals. Such moments are not just decorative, but have enormous cultural power for the exercise of claiming ‘me and my people’ and one’s own way of being in the world. Recognising moments and turning points where life can be examined and decisions can be made, is an important part of taking control rather than being blown around by wind and tide. Anyone who has the trust of a young person can provoke or respond to vital conversations about these moments. Finally, it is important to heed those moments where young people confront communities with their convictions. These moments of active decision making, whether we agree or not, should be harnessed for the power and potential that they bring. Protests are one example. Rather than shoot the messenger or telling them they should be at school, let’s engage to see what we can learn.

24

3. Creating connections to community. For young people, this is about the ‘we’, the ‘me and my people’, about ‘you and whose army’. My own research shows that young people who have lots of humans they trust also have lots of options in their decision making and the confidence that they can act and succeed. They know realistically that others - family, schools, friends, and broader kin - will back them. The webs and bonds of relationships are vital to their own power to be creative forces in the world. However, for other young people, the question of who to trust is unanswered. This happens as the spaces, where Supernal Magazine

traditionally we might have engaged across the generations, have slipped away. For many young people, family mobility for work, fragmentation of families, forced migration, longer working hours and parental stress have really eroded the time young people spend with loved ones and the sense of having anyone they can turn to

A call to readers to work alongside our young people My call to readers is to always look out for those sites where these three things can grow. Where else might a sense of meaning and purpose, a sense of control and capability and a sense of connection to community be built across generations and with young people? These might not be the traditional places, as under conditions of uncertainty, people tend not to be long-term joiners to clubs and institutions. These sites of hope are increasingly likely to be in liminal spaces, light touch or transient experiences, perhaps events repeated and trusted, such as community arts celebrations and festivals. Festivals make a good example of the call to action. In Australia, over the summer seasons, we have seen a spate of controversies about the festivals that young and other people attend together. Media and politicians have chosen to pay attention to drugs only, sensationalising and demonising attendees as drug users. Under tough new legislation festivals are closing, and with these the ecologies and economies of young artists and rural communities alike are put at risk. Meanwhile the credible statistics from police and ambulance show that festivals reflect the same problems as the rest of society and in about the same proportions. What could it look like to focus instead on the above three points as we work towards solutions? Those of you involved in spiritual practice will understand the significance of holding space and so the importance of holding space for young people’s growth and connectedness. Community events like festivals are one new frontier for this type of work. Where are the others Dr Ani Wierenga that you see?

Divine Time Dream a little Dream by ShirleySienna

What are dreams, and what are your dreams in particular? Contrary to what you may think your dreams are the imagery of the realm of divine codes brought forth from deep within the subconscious on a nightly basis, or when you enter REM (Rapid Eye Movement) state. Most dreaming occurs during the fourth stage of sleep, known as REM and is characterised by eye movement and an increase in both respiration and brain activity. If you do not remember your dreams, this isn’t an issue. Dreaming is a process not so much meant to give messages on a daily basis, (which we humans love to explore, explain and expand upon) but to release fears and pressures, anxiety and emotions that hold us back in life. We often refer to these as blockages. Dreams are an ingenious way to bring forth manifestation of the possibilities that are programmed into your divine blueprint. If you are inclined to think about the meaning of your dreams, be open minded and understand that there are many levels of meaning in dreaming. It is a labyrinth of metaphysical tech and winds so much further down the rabbit hole than our 3rd dimensional mindset has the ability to take in. Now is a perfect time to enhance your lucid dreaming and raise the bar of your imaginative and psychic ability. We are travelling through what we refer to as time, which in reality is a ‘sub-mission’ to transpose our galactic entirety into a short physical life span. Realistically speaking this means the time required to undertake such a journey is more than one life span, so we reincarnate. Our soul particles adhere themselves into new bodies (vehicles for the soul) over many lifetimes. Life is not just a book, it is a shelf filled with editions of your personal encyclopedia, your ‘Akashic Records’. The 26th April is kin 183, Blue Magnetic Night in the Tzolkin (human/galactic calendar); this leads us into a period of dreaming. Some on the planet born within the kin code of Blue Night (Akbal in Mayan terms)

Divine Guidance are often very empathic. As the Dreamer kin they are the bridge enabling the codes within our dreams to be realised and become manifest on this planet. Over this period of blue night, an opening and closeness to the spirit world is on offer. It’s a pertinent time to set the intention to dream and invigorate the muscle that works both in night dreaming and day dreaming, reconnecting with your inner programme and aligning you with the law of attraction, manifestation, option and outcome. Treating each day as a chakra aligned awakening, your soul note/tone is activated and the power of dreaming raises the activity of vibration and frequency. Higher consciousness can be achieved. Integrity of action is required, and as you can see by the state of things around the world, most of the population of this planet is dreaming away, unfocused, unknowing and unaware. As we travel through the glyphs and tones of the calendars of time, blissfully ignorant, wasting precious moments as though life were a game of chance, we then complain about our lives, feeling the odds are not stacked in our favour. Personal responsibility, being present on a daily basis and meditating over this month or moon time, will be most beneficial as the stars and planets are especially aligned to draw us back into the land of real dreaming. Using a dream journal and practising intentional dreaming may be beneficial through this series of kin days that completes a cycle (21st May). The kin on this day is 208 Yellow Cosmic Star/ the artist, also referred to as ‘Lamat’ (Mayan) and this is influenced by Venus. At the mention of Venus, don’t jump straight into conclusions of love and romance coming, because true to form and archetype. Venus is the epitome of the divine feminine holding the power of divine chaos. She can take you into the dark night of the soul. Crisis and difficulty may occur in order to rid ourselves of unresolved conflict in order to explore and appreciate our greatest opportunities. She is the darkness into which we delve whilst dreaming. That deep consciousness through which we enter into many hidden lands, emotions and senses, disrupting complacency in order to bring about creativity and change to the psyche, and illumination to the soul. From the 26th April to the 21st May we are being linked into a timeline of frequency for the evolution of our individual planetary blueprint. It is humans that are the grid of light across the planet. Our souls alight like stars shining on Earth, seen by our star brothers and sisters from beyond the stratosphere. As above - so below. Key words: I Dream in order to shine. In Lak’ech Ala Kin – I see you in myself, one kin.

Power of Positivity - Never Give Up By Joti Gore

T

he other day someone posted on Instagram about how sometimes the positive thing is knowing when to give up. That is not my belief. I think one of the challenges in our society is that we give up too easily, whether it is on our health, dietary lifestyles, career goals, academia or just life in general. There have been countless peers, clients and family that have shared their stories with me about overcoming a myriad of obstacles and achieving miraculous accomplishments through the power of positivity and never ever giving up.

Nearly three years ago, I was told by my neurosurgeon that I would never walk again. On my left side, I had drop foot and couldn’t wiggle or dorsiflex my foot. It felt like a paper bag was crinkled up under my skin and my toes were curled. When I asked the specialist, “What should I do, everything I do is physical?” The neurosurgeon said, “Get over it and just do something else.” I never went back! I had a meltdown as I made my way to transportation home. Needless to say, that was a defining moment which led me to work hard at not only walking, but doing all the things I physically love. I surrounded myself with positive people who were amazingly supportive and inspirational, some of which have their own stories of empowerment and triumph in adversity. Amanda Campbell, Sports Kinesiologist and friend, shared her story of being hospitalised with severe symptoms of MS at an early age. Her specialists told her she was going to debilitate rapidly and she would never walk again. Amanda told her specialist, “Not only will I walk but I am going to run again.” Her girlfriends surrounded her in the hospital and injected her with copious amounts of positivity and laughter. One day her twin sister was visiting and Amanda shouted, “My toes are moving!” Today, she is a Kinesiologist, Nutritionist and a Motivational Speaker; she also regularly practices

Health &Wellbeing yoga and runs. This is a brilliant example of what the power of positivity and never giving up looks like. Let’s look at some research and science about frequency, positive thoughts and psychoneuroimmunology, the study of the relationship between mind process and our health and wellbeing. Our thoughts and feelings can have a profound effect on our biological processes. The relationship study (Dutton & Aron 1974) postulates ‘neuro-transmitters control virtually all of the body’s function, from feeling happy, to modulating hormones, to dealing with stress.’ Everything in life is interconnected and everything living has a frequency. The human body has a frequency ranging from 62 to 68Hz. The conductivity of the electrically charged particles inside our body produces our life force. What we think, how we feel and how we act, has an effect on the frequency in either a positive or negative way. Dr. Valerie Hunt, lecturer and acclaimed scientist, verified the human energy field and showed that the energy fields correlate specifically with emotion, pain, physicality, states of health and that these are all scientifically measurable and quantifiable. She illustrated that there is a frequency range in hertz of wellness, charted emotional frequencies and showed that positivity, negativity and states of meditation can alter the frequency. Words are frequency, so placing an emphasis on the words you use with yourself and others can impact your state of emotion and essentially your mind and body health. According to Prof Konstantin Korotov, based on observations during Electrophonic Capturing, (EPC) of researchers (Semion Kirlian, Dr. Mandel, and Prof Milhomens), ‘Bio resonance is the capability for and frequency pattern outside of us to resonate with a specific part of the physical body.’ It is believed that binaural beats, which use two different frequencies, can affect our mental states by entraining our brainwaves to a specific frequency to achieve states of relaxation, physical, mental, and emotional balance and respite from anxiety or pain, allowing the body to heal itself. The duration for listening to binaural beats range for a few minutes to hours. Pain relief is another common request from the community which I will dedicate an entire article to in a future issue. For now, go to iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, YouTube and listen to 174Hz to aid pain relief. My personal suggestions: Play uplifting music with no lyrics, with subtle instrumentation - Get active exercise, do yoga, walk in nature - Surround yourself in positivity - Talk positively - Go to inspiring Places!

Discovering Ayurveda Introducing the Doshas

By Liesl Horne

Welcome back to ‘Discovering Ayurveda.’ This month I am introducing you to the three ‘Doshas’ - Vata, Pitta and Kapha - which represent the five elements of Space, Air, Fire, Earth and Water. Whilst the five elements help us to understand the world around us, the three Doshas help us to understand our world within, relating to our overall physiological functioning. Ayurveda views each person as a microcosm - a mini version - of the Universe, reflecting the rhythms and qualities we find in nature. Why is it helpful to know your Dosha? The Doshas provide an insightful way to understand how the elements of Space, Air, Fire, Earth and Water relate to you and your own unique constitution; your mind/body nature, which is determined at the moment of conception. Whilst we all contain the three Doshas, they express in varying degrees, determining our physical, mental and emotional nature. The Doshas are constantly fluctuating, just like the elements around us. The weather, change of seasons and our environment all vary greatly, similar to our own circumstances, lifestyle and inner environment. Recognising your most dominant Doshas helps you to identify the lifestyle and food choices to support and maintain your health and energy levels on a day to day basis, whilst also preventing symptoms of imbalance. Recognising the three Doshas: Vata - the elements of Space and Air Think of the ‘qualities’ of wind moving through space - dry, light, subtle, mobile, irregular and rough. Vata is responsible for all movement in the body, including thoughts, through the mind and the breath. Characteristics of Vata constitution Light physical build, fine hair, moves quickly. Expressive, flexible, creative, adapts well to change. When Vata becomes aggravated You may experience dry skin, stiff joints, light headedness. Feel fearful, anxious and exhausted. Keeping Vata balanced Establish a daily routine. This helps to keep the light and airy nature of Vata grounded. Include warming, nourishing foods such as Kicharee, the traditional cleansing food of Ayurveda, and

Health &Wellbeing soups in the diet, which will add moisture and a slight heaviness. Drink warming herbal teas with ginger and cinnamon. Pitta – The elements of Fire and Water Think of the qualities of hot, expansive and sharp. Pitta governs metabolism and all transformative processes in the body such as digestion. Characteristics of Pitta constitution Medium build, angular, well defined features. Likes to lead, motivated, energetic, full of vitality. When Pitta becomes aggravated You may experience excessive heat, skin rashes, acid indigestion and inflammation. Feel irritated, critical, angry and explosive. Keeping Pitta balanced Keep cool, take a walk near water. Wear clothes made of natural fibres in calming colours. Include cooling and calming foods in your diet such as cucumber, avocados and fresh coriander. Kapha – The elements of Water and Earth Think of the qualities of earth moistened by water - stable, dense, wet and slow. Kapha is responsible for stability, structure and moisture in the body. Strong, solid build, thick hair and soft skin. Relaxed nature, calm, caring and loving. When Kapha becomes aggravated You may experience congestion, excess of mucus, sluggish digestion. Feel lethargic, stuck, unmotivated. Keeping Kapha balanced Regular exercise. Include a variety of warming and stimulating foods with ginger and black pepper in your diet to aid digestion. Clear out any clutter you may be holding onto and enjoy a variety of hobbies and activities. Want to know more about your Dosha? Ayurveda provides an empowering and enriching system of self-care, providing ancient wisdom for our modern times. A personalised consultation with a qualified Ayurveda professional will help to determine your Ayurvedic constitution. The aim is to keep your Doshas in harmony through implementing a lifestyle routine and a diet plan that works specifically for your constitutional needs. Until next time, keep well and stay nourished. REFLECTIONS REFLECTIONS Freedom or Not? The refusal of an Australian visa for David Icke’s lecture tour in March this year has reinstated the question of our right of free speech and free choice. My research shows that apparently there is no Bill of Rights here, unlike the rest of most of the Western world, and therefore no right by law that allows such freedom, only that of pursuing a chosen religion.

In 2015 for example, Peter Dutton granted a visa for anti-Islamic Dutch MP Geert Wilder to speak out regarding the dangers of Islam and the Islamic state. The founder of the Dutch Party for Freedom had been invited to attend the launch of an Australian party modelled on his own, the Australian Liberty Alliance headed up by Debbie Robinson.

A Touch of Paranormal

G’day folks and welcome back to my page on the Paranormal.

As you may recall, I spoke about some of the interesting experiences that myself and others had at the Port Arthur Penal colony in Tasmania. To continue on the theme of Tasmania’s most haunted places, I had the pleasure of investigating the Willow Court Asylum in New Norfolk. New Norfolk is about 35km North West of Hobart and is situated in the beautiful Derwent Valley; a very picturesque location for an Asylum. Willow Court was built in around 1827, pre-dating Port Arthur by around six years. It was also the longest, continually run Asylum in Australia, operating for around 173 years, eventually closing its doors in late 2000. So you can imagine the sort of history it has. I was invited to Willow Court, along with my ‘ghost buddy’, Anthony Kilner, by a wonderful all girl paranormal group called ‘Van Diemen’s Angels’, to investigate the energies of the old Asylum. We started the night by taking a Ghost-tour of the Asylum with the public in tow, which was very informative and informal and it prepared us for the night’s proceedings. After a quick bite to eat, we started to set up some of the equipment in the Ladies Cottage.

Infrared video cameras were the most important pieces of equipment, as these would capture any anomalies and record them. We then set up EMF (ElectroMagnetic Field) detectors, to see if there would be any change in the base readings. This is primarily done to sweep the building with the EMF detectors to find or locate any electrical discharge from power points and the like. Then when the EMF’s are turned on and left standing, there should be no reason for them to activate, unless there is an electromagnetic energy around them. It was approximately 1.30am and the night was cold and very dark. The four members of our team huddled around at the top of the grand staircase where Anthony began to play his Native American style Indian flute. What a beautiful, magical sound it was, resonating right through the building. I Soon after Anthony had finished playing, an unusual set of events began to occur. It grew much colder than it was previously, then one by one each piece of equipment started to shut down. First, the Infrared video camera lost power due to a battery drain, even though the battery was just freshly charged. Then one of the girls’ torches began to act strangely by intermittently becoming very dim, and finally shutting down altogether. Again, new batteries had been put into the torch earlier. Finally, another piece of equipment called a REM (Radiating Electromagnetism) pod actually started going berserk - all of its indicator lights started flashing and it began making

g

an awful screeching noise. This only stopped after a couple of minutes when the battery completely drained itself. Judging by all of this happening at once, the spirits had either gathered around us in large numbers for fun or they didn’t like the music! There was a very eerie calmness in the air and I was expecting all hell to break loose - like the calm before the storm. In fact, the opposite effect happened and everything stayed very calm. We began to conduct a communication vigil to see if we could make contact with the spirits of the Ladies Cottage. As each of us took turns to ask questions, the other EMF detectors went off on cue as if someone, or something, was brushing past them. Now, I don’t truly know if a ghost gives off an electromagnetic field or not, but this was surely a little too coincidental. We were sitting on chairs at the top of the staircase when I glanced behind me, only to see what I would describe as a shadow person or silhouette walk very quickly into one of the rooms. Being the ever-inquisitive investigator, I got up to see if I could find any trace of whom, or what I had just seen, but there was nobody there. I didn’t put this down to a trick of the eye as we had accustomed our eyes to the darkness for some time. We finally ended the night by thanking the Spirits and paying due respect for allowing us into their Ether. Ultimately, when conducting any kind of paranormal investigation, it should always be done with respectful intent. It proved to be a very thought provoking evening for us all! In the next edition I will take us onto the Mainland and to some of the most haunted places there, as well as discussing in a little more detail some of the equipment I have used and why. Until next time Happy Haunting.

Dreams Vs Astral Understanding the difference between a dream and an astral experience can sometimes seem challenging. They are two very different states of being, yet they can be happening simultaneously. Trying to work out whether you are dreaming or having an astral experience, and what the messages really mean, can be more fun than you think!

People can party in this realm. Have you ever woken up feeling exhausted, yet you went to bed early and sober? Well, it could have been from partying in the astral. We can learn, teach, explore and a lot more in the astral. When we come back, we may or may not have a total memory depending on our ability to recall our experience. The astral is just one place our spirit body can travel to with ease. Everything is in vibrant colour and we are in the experience, so to speak, and see ourselves as we would in real life - 3D. One amazing thing is that quite often people travel in the astral naked. Have you ever had an experience at night where you couldn’t find your cloths and you were naked? It’s more common than you would think.

In the astral, think and it’s done. Think clothes, think flying, think and be anything you want to be. It’s all done by the mind. It’s an amazing Astral travel becomes a reality when the place to explore! spirit body leaves the physical body. Most commonly a person is asleep when it happens, Dream State or in a deep meditative state. Dreaming is very different to astralling. People generally start their journey in the lower realms of the astral. This is quite often where they meet departed loved ones, the spirit bodies of friends who are sharing the journey and those spirits that live in the astral realms. 42

Dreams Astral and Dreaming There’s often a lot of confusion as to whether someone is astralling or dreaming, and I can tell by carefully listening to what the dreamer is describing. This is an important understanding to master so that the interpretation is correct. In simple terms both can happen at the same time. While a person might be partying super consciousness connection and the soul on the astral, the sub conscious and the soul collective can be working together to help collective goes to work. find a solution to the problems and a potential Information from the soul collective is then way forward in life. The ‘Gift’ and Me

of

by Sam Duly

Quite a few people I meet ask how I started my journey as a Medium, so I thought I would share it with you.

As a young child, I was often found with my nose deeply planted in a book - I had a great imagination. I also had a great fear of the dark. Even up to my late teens, my dad would have to close my curtains at night for me before I could go into my bedroom! I had the only bedroom downstairs until I was 10 and recall many a time having tea parties with my spirit friends using my Tinkerbell china tea set. I had a close bond with my maternal grandma and we also shared the same birthday. My grandma’s Catholic faith was very important to her, but she was also very psychic and held many séances with her friends in London. My grandad still tells me to this day that I am so like her in many ways. Sadly, she passed 10 days before ‘our’ birthday April 1980 when I was going to be 14. Looking back now, my mediumship and psychic ability reignited at this time and I feel something was passed onto me, and I have a greater understanding of it now that I am older. I remember being told about one instance when my grandma told my aunt that, at her impending interview, she would be offered 2 shillings, 6 pence as wages and that the man offering her the job would have a funny eyebrow. Well, you can imagine at the interview, when my aunt was offered the exact amount and, when shaking the gentleman’s hand, his eyebrow twitched strangely. He said, “Sorry my dear, it’s a shrapnel wound where the nerves make my eyebrow twitch!” Just one of her many amazing predictions! At 16, I started to have readings and was always told I would be doing them myself one day. In 1998 I took my Reiki 1, level 2 in 1999, before completing my Masters in 2000. At this time, I joined a development circle with trance Medium, Robin Wimbow, who then introduced me to another group and to Edward Street Spiritualist Church in Brighton, UK. I remember the first time I stood on Platform in November 2003 and gave my first spirit message. I will never forget the lady’s face after she had heard from her long-lost brother. I thought, ‘This is what it’s truly all about. The communication and upliftment for both worlds is such

Mediumship a healing experience. This is the ‘gift’ connecting both worlds, I have just been chosen to do this work for Spirit’. As a single mum, it was sometimes hard to get to the development circles but when I did, I loved it and devoured everything I learnt. I then went on to sit in development with Lynn Probert, who introduced me to Tony Stockwell. I would drive up to Essex to take part in Tony’s workshops. From there this also led me to the most prestigious College in the world – The Arthur Findlay College in Stansted, UK. The college has a fabulous reputation where students can go not only to learn from some of the best tutors in the world, but also be with like minds. Being in this wonderful ‘energy’ stimulates your development. Large painted portraits of former Medium’s, sweeping staircases and wood panelled walls really makes you feel like you are at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies! I believe that attending this college is an experience every student of this work should have, at least once in their lives. Every time I went on a Course at the College, my drive was to actually be in the ‘top’ group which was taken by Mavis Pittilla! When I moved to Perth, Australia in 2007, I thought it would never happen for me. Then in 2013 my beautiful Mum passed into the spirit world. She left us all some money and although difficult to use, as I truly would have preferred her back, I used some of mine to be personally mentored by the great Mavis Pittilla. My dream came true, thanks Mum! Mavis herself, had been taught by one of the greatest Mediums and Tutors of our time, Gordon Higginson. I learnt so much from her and also with the many other Mediums and Tutors that I have crossed paths with over the years. One other important thing that really helped me was that I was the Medium in a Paranormal Group. We met at many different locations, sometimes not knowing where until last minute. These included many theatres in Sussex, Stately Homes and secret War tunnels. Not only did this help my development as a Medium, but also helped me with my fear of the dark! I will be covering more about these paranormal investigations in my next Column on ‘Things that go bump in the night’! I feel truly blessed that I have learnt from the best and still continue to learn every day as I truly believe in lifelong learning. So, budding Mediums never give up! Yours in Spirit! Sam Duly

Chi Energy

By Freya Sampson Custodian Eartheart

his is it! Welcome to your grounded and practical guide to all things metaphysical for the urban person. Here you will find all that is needed to know in easy steps, to purify and strengthen your temple - heart, body, mind and energy field - and thereby transform your life.

Subtle bodies are the ones that we can’t see. We know they are there because we experience them all the time. A thought isn’t visible, nor is an emotion, a feeling or a knowing, yet these are the things we spend all of our time doing and these things inform our life experience.

Each month we’ll take a journey into aspects of the unseen, sharing information and techniques, you can easily do yourself at home.

So, what are our subtle bodies?

Let’s create a foundation from which to learn and grow. There is a lot more to being human than meets the eye. A human being is more than a physical body, we have many subtle bodies too - we are multi-dimensional beings.

Subtle bodies are the Etheric, Astral and Soul. Let’s begin by exploring the Etheric Body and dimension. Most people know the Etheric Body, as the aura, which also contains chakras and meridians. It’s easiest to think of these parts in relation to the physical body. Aura = Skin, Chakras = Organs, Meridians = Veins The Etheric Body is a transceiver, this means it both sends and receives energy/ information. This information comes from other people, the environment and beyond. It is responsible for moving energy through your multi-dimensional anatomy, like the plumbing and the wiring does in your home. It makes everything work! Chi, Prana or Ki are all words for ‘vital life force energy’. The types of energy that it moves are threefold: 1. Personal Chi = Created by your system. Personal Chi is made by your Sacral Chakra. It comes from within. 2. Planetary Chi = Created by the planets system. Planetary Chi is created by various processes of nature. It can be experienced best early in the morning. If you go outside and stand under a tree you may see little white sparkles moving

This allows the ‘lower emotional utilising Chi energy. centre’ - the Sacral Chakra - to flow.

How to access Planetary Chi Spend 10 -15 minutes in the morning outside. Take your shoes off and allow your feet to touch the earth. There are 7000 nerve endings on the bottom of your feet. Connecting your feet to the earth allows your nervous system and energy field to ground, literally like earthing an electrical current. When you connect with the planetary system, you and the Earth share information, which all happens ‘beyond the mind’. Sit under a tree or somewhere near plants and breathe deeply, focus on the breath with the intent to draw in the Planetary Chi.

How to create Divine/Source Chi. Invocation, Connection to Grace and Prayer are three easy ways to do this. An invocation is done to set the space. By doing this before any activity in life, we are actively connecting to the Soul Body and the Divine Dimension. The key is to invoke for that which is for one’s Divine Highest Good and to only work with those energies that love you unconditionally and have your Divine Highest Good at heart. Plenty of Chi is the way to be - enjoy your experiences budding Alchemists!

Numerology for April April, the fourth month, relates to the number FOUR, representing form. How will we see this in April 2019? It’s as though we are being given a magic key, as 4/2019 relates to the resonant 7. This is the basis for each and every day, from the Fool whom takes the leap of faith on April 1 to the 30th, which says, ‘I have laid a foundation for new beginnings’.

The numerology for this month creates a universal Allen key of forward motion, magically opening the door to imagination and quickly bringing it from the Noosphere into reality; more oft’ in unexpected form, because the unconscious has taken the leap, sick of waiting on those who may procrastinate. ‘Sugar and spice and all things, nice and slugs and snails and puppy dog’s tails’, says the old rhyme, but it’s not whether you are a boy or a girl, but about revealing a little of your hidden self and your agenda.
