• Fautz Associates Donates New Eco-Friendly Units to Hollywood Schools HOLLYWOOD – In keeping with its commitment to improve and beautify the local community it serves, South Florida real estate development firm Fautz Associates donated new solar powered trash compactors to two Hollywood, Florida schools. Fautz Associates united with Attucks Middle School and Bethune Elementary and sponsored an eco-friendly art contest to help students gain a better understanding of the importance of recycling, advantages of harnessing renewable energy and maintaining a “green” campus. A variety of drawings from students at both schools were selected and will be enlarged, then permanently wrapped around the exterior of each BigBelly, a combination solar-intelligent trash compactor and recycling station. “Enhancing the quality of life within the community where we live and work is our core philosophy. ARE YOU SUFFERING? The shocking truth about how to stop being a victim to wearing those agonizing dentures once and for all!!!! What Are Mini Dental Implants? The (Mini Dental Implant (MDI) System consists of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture, The head of the implant is shaped like a ball and the retaining fixture acts like a socket that contains a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture at a predetermined level of force. When seated, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue. The implant fixtures allow for micromobility while withstanding natural lifting forces. Is the Mini Dental Implant FDA approved? Yes, the product is safe for public use and in fact had beneficial attributes, the FDA granted its formal consent to market the Mini Dental Implant device not only as a transitional or temporary dental product, but significantly, as a longterm item. IMTEC was the first company to receive long-term approval of its MDI implants from the FDA, and for several years, was the only company to have that distinction. When can Mini Dental Implants be used? When critically needed for support purposes, and where solid bony adaptation (integration) has clearly occurred, mini implants can function as longterm supporting structures rather than as short-term or medium term devices. In fact, some have been successfully functioning in patients’ jaws for several decades. In the past several years, some clinicians have been utilizing MDI for single tooth replacements and in crown and bridge cases.. What’s the primary and most effective use for

Mini Dental Implants? The most effective use of this unique dental product is stabilization of a lower denture. There are approximately 50 million people in the United States who are “edentulous” (literally meaning lacking teeth) who struggle daily with their dentures. A majority suffer a great deal of discomfort as a result of loose or ill-fitting dentures. Many denture wearers simply withdraw from any type of social engagement as a result of being compelled to wear them. Moreover, it’s not uncommon for family members to complain about a denture wearer’s disagreeable breath as a result of food being trapped and decaying under their dentures. Successful placement of the Mini Dental Implant addresses and solves all of these social and practical problems. Denture patients all over the world have experienced relief from loose or ill-fitting dentures. Uniquely, the MDI can be utilized to stabilize a denture in a couple of hours, with the patient leaving the clinic with a stabilized denture. How specifically can Mini Dental Implants help denture wearers? The standard insertion protocol for mini dental implants calls for four of them to be gently screwed into the front of a patient’s lower jaw. This is a relatively painless procedure that can be per-

formed under a mild anesthesia. The mini dental implants, which are approximately the size of wooden toothpicks, are placed about five millimeters apart in the patient’s mandible. The patient’s denture is then carefully adjusted by the dentist to allow it to snap onto the four mini implants. The stabilized denture allows a patient to speak and eat with confidence. The Mini Dental Implants are placed in about an hour’s time. Because of the unique, minimally invasive procedure, the minute size of the implants, and the characteristic placement area, the typical Mini Dental Implant patient can enjoy a light meal an hour or so after having the mini implants placed. I’m somewhat aware of the tremendous forces the human jaw usually endures during normal chewing of food. How can these tiny Mini Dental Implants withstand that? Our jaws are marvelously designed to adequately withstand those forces. It’s also true that mankind has been struggling for centuries to come up with some type of metal or metallic element that can efficiently withstand those forces. Approximately twenty-five years ago some doctors around the world began experimenting with titanium as a potential dental medium. Titanium is

an extremely strong metal used in the construction of aircraft and aircraft engines. The metal, in its commercial form, is incredibly strong and durable. If a denture patient has sufficient bone

mass to create a rock hard placement of the tiny implant, which an experienced dentist can usually determine by an initial examination, the mini dental implants will gen-

erally withstand normal chewing forces just like natural teeth. Fractures are extremely rare, but as the case with a person’s normal teeth, can certainly occur.

For more information and to find out whether the Mini Dental Implants are a better choice in your particular case; you can have a free no obligation pre-exam consultation with Dr. Chander L. Gupta DDS, MAGD who has 20 years of experience in Dental Implants by calling Brighten Dental Care @ 954-922-4633. Residents have been very patient with 14th Ave. drainage project over the past year By Mayor Joy Cooper HALLANDALE BEACH - Many of our residents that traverse 14th Avenue have been extremely patient. The residents that have had to live with the mess over the past year in their front yards, even more so. This major drainage project is finally almost complete. It seems that now as the major digging is coming to an end, everyone's nerves have been virtually shot. I do not blame them for being frustrated. The other day an older resident called me crying and very angry that the project was going to take another year. I was glad she called to let me know that this rumor was going around. I told her that whoever told her such a thing should be ashamed of themselves for getting a senior stressed out. I apologized for her hardships and assured her that 14th Avenue will be cleaned up within the month. After that call, I decided once again that I must write to inform everyone what to expect over the next weeks and months since misinformation is being spread around. This drainage project has been under construction since last February. During planning, design and the award of the project we all anticipated the project to take a year. There was one

major event that delayed the project and increased costs. In some areas of the project the soil conditions were unstable. This created the need for more testing and the need to stabilize the areas below the pipes. Also, during construction there were unanticipated water breaks. This can and will happen when construction areas are older. Back in the day, there were not sophisticated GIS tracking technology for underground infrastructure. Many of the pipes are not located where they were to be and some are not even recorded. The most recent delay was the need to relocate FPL lines. The lines were near where the pumping stations and needed to be placed. This has delayed construction of the station. The city was left to resolve many of these issues and changed the order and the additional treatment of soil conditions that was approved by the commission. Currently, Lanzo is in the process of cleaning up and finishing on 14th Avenue. Construction for the pumping stations is not finished and is anticipated to take 3months. This construction is limited to the site. Many residents are not aware that I requested and the commission approved that the pump station be enclosed with

“Thank You For Your Loyal Patronage. Your Faithful Support Inspires Us To Be The Best!”

a structure and roof. Originally they were to be fenced with landscaping. The pumps are the most important component of the project. It seemed that this investment needed to be protected from the elements and that the residents be properly buffered from them. The pumps are not like the temporary ones that have been out there for over the past years. They are custom designed specifically for our project and they will be quiet. Even with the assurances from staff of limited noise, the enclosures will provide additional buffers and sound protection. These still need to be constructed and this is what will take the additional time. While they are being completed, Lanzo will be constructing 14th Avenue and the other areas that still need to be restored. Every property has been monitored and the city will restore them back to the way they originally were. In most cases better, than they were found. Last commission meeting it was agreed that 14th Avenue will be reconstructed to add additional parking, sidewalks and landscaping. When the DUO was added to the Diplomat Mall, the city commission requested that the parking along the eastside of the street be re-

The parking was changed from 45 degree angle parking to parallell, the city commission decided to evaluate every area in the city where additional parking could be added. A parking committee was established and there was another design added. 60% angle parking on both sides. This added more spaces. There will be an item brought forward as an agenda item next Wednesday to review this design. We will direct staff to proceed on a design so we can get the roadway completed as soon as possible. Another awaited project is also half way completed, Three Islands Boulevard landscaping and resurfacing. As promised when Joe Scavo Park construction was finishing up we would repave the boulevard. We had scheduled this awhile back, but it was much more efficient to do it after the major construction. I am happy to report that the road resurfacing began Wednesday and the landscaping has been

finished. If you have been in the area, the park has really shaped up over the past weeks. I hope everyone comes out and celebrates this great project on Saturday April 5th. I had a sneak preview and the park looks fantastic. Most importantly it came in on time and under budget. Come out and see your tax dollars at work! I am sure after seeing this accomplishment you will agree, every park deserves a much needed face lift. On Friday, April 11th, the City will be hosting the Annual “Relay for Life” at Bluesten Park. This community wide event will give everyone the chance to come together to support and celebrate survivors, remember loved one’s, support research and the unique needs of those that are fighting the battle against cancer. Teams have been signing up for an evening of fun at the park and we that hope everyone stops by to support the cause. On Saturday, April 12th, the City in partner-

ship with the Hallandale Beach Area Chamber will be hosting the Annual “Green Fest” at City Hall starting at 11 am. Once again we will be giving away free trees to our residents, hosting GART: Garbage to Art Competition and welcoming a Framers Market. I hope you come out and enjoy all these events. Get to know your neighbors and help become part of our great community. If you are a local business we welcome your participation. Derby From Page 1A –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– "No other day like it," said Scott Caputo of Deerfield Beach. "We get to the track early and leave late. What an outstanding day it is and I am looking forward to this year more than ever." CAIRO PRINCE AND WILDCAT RED ARE TWO TO FOLLOW Cairo Prince and Wildcat Red, two of the top contenders for the Florida Derby, have been working hard. While Wildcat Red, Intense Holiday and Honor Code are three to watch for, it's Cairo Prince who remains one of the main favorites to come away with the Florida Derby. After Cairo Prince worked an easy half-mile in 49.90 seconds recently at Palm Meadows, his trainer, Kiaran McLaughlin, said, "All is well." Still, having skipped the Fountain of Youth, he could find himself in need of some Derby points when he makes his next start, in the Florida Derby. Honor Code was expected to make his seasonal debut a few weeks back in the Fountain of Youth. But bruised ankles forced him to miss some training, which in turn forced his trainer to move back the Remsen winner's return to competition. And so now he's playing catch-up. Is Wildcat Red just a splash in the Fountain? Maybe. Wildcat Red never has raced anywhere but Gulfstream Park, which is to speedsters what Tropicana Field is to dead-pull hitters. In winning the Fountain of Youth, he took advantage of a racing surface that has been extraordinarily fast. Other horses that could be in the mix include Constitution, Medal Count, Tonalist, Strong Mandate, Matador, General a Rod, Spot, Social Inclusion and Candy Boy. Occasional racing fans like Caputo and his friends is what Gulfstream is after. They know that will get many of those racing fans back - because of the fact that low cost fun is hard to find. From the Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, which was held on Tuesday at the Westin Diplomat Golf Resort, to Wednesday's Post Position Draw for $1 Million Besilu Stables Florida Derby, held at the Ten Palms Restaurant, there was plenty associated with this annual event. Sinus Infections and Dental Oral Health

Dental oral health can be a contributing factor of sinus infections with direct association between toothache and sinus infection. Oral health is one of the contributing factors of sinus infection though it is not usual. It is a given fact that sinus cavities are closely located to the teeth and mouth. Small oral cavities or infections can add to the sinus infection. Dental checkup must be performed when diagnosing sinus infections. Sinuses have several pairs of left and right sinuses including ethmoid, frontal, maxillary sinus cavities and sphenoid. Maxillary sinuses are known to be the largest of the paranasal sinuses, which are located in the upper jaw areas under the eye sockets and at the back of the cheekbones. Maxillary sinusitis is usually caused by nasal infection due to viral influenza or common colds but sinus infection may also result from dental origins. Usually, dental infection of the teeth and gums can cause sinus infection. With this reason, regular dental checkups are necessary to diagnose and treat maxillary sinus infection. Acute sinus infections are sometimes treated partially, resulting for other infections to be left undetected. Other anatomical causes of maxillary sinusitis include a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. Deviated septum is an abnormality where in the ridge tends to lean to the right or the left, which causes obstruction to the nasal passage, resulting to drainage and poor ventilation of the sinuses. On the other hand, enlarged turbinates can also

Oral health is one of the contributing factors of sinus infection though it is not usual. It is a given fact that sinus cavities are closely located to the teeth and mouth. Small oral cavities or infections can add to the sinus infection. Dental checkup must be performed when diagnosing sinus infections. In treating maxillary sinus infection, it is necessary to treat other associated symptoms of congestion, inflammation and other significant factors because sinus infection may be difficult to reach with antibiotic treatments for sinus infection. In some situations, there is a direct association between a toothache and a sinus infection. Obstruction in the nasal passage, respiratory infection, allergic reaction or tooth pain can cause sinus infection. An individual who is suffering toothache may also have a maxillary sinus infection. The neck and face may have cutaneous sinus tracts that usually have dental origins. Researches have shown that in most cases there is a connection between maxillary sinus infection and impacted wisdom teeth, cavities, crown fracture and unfinished dental work. In addition, sinus infections that

are not treated can result to difficulty in dental hygiene maintenance. Sinus infections can result in bad breath because the sinus drainage goes down into the mouth. To be able to recognize whether a sinus infection is a cause of toothache, it is essential to see a dentist, who can execute a test wherein an individual tooth will be tapped gently to determine the location of the pain. The tooth where the pain is located indicates a sinus infection. If a sinus infection is not treated immediately, it may have bad effects on the teeth. Most people are having difficulty in distinguishing the difference between a toothache and a sinus infection because the roots in the upper teeth are near the maxillary sinus cavities. It is necessary to seek the advice of a dentist or an ear, nose and throat doctor to know the right treatment. Several treatments are available depending on the reason of the nasal problem that causes toothache, including allergy medication, nasal drops, antibiotics or nasal wash regimens. In addition, dental treatment is necessary to treat areas affected by sinus infections. A SINUS LIFT CAN IMPROVE YOUR ORAL HEALTH Nowadays, people are always in search of different effective ways on how to achieve perfection.

Everyone wants to be attractive and one of the most popular qualities that people want to achieve is having a perfect smile. Aside from having a beautiful face, fair skin and gorgeous body, having a perfect smile is definitely one of the features that attracts people. A beautiful smile can improve one's self-confidence. However, many people have dental problems resulting in tooth loss. For people who are searching for a hassle-free solution for tooth loss, dentists can easily perform dental implants. In fact, dental implants are more teeth saving compared to the traditional bridgework because implants do not need bordering teeth for support. However, sufficient jawbone is required to have the implant. One of the dental procedures that can improve oral health is sinus lift, which is a medical procedure carried out by a certified dentist or a dental specialist. Here are the three reasons why you should consider having a sinus lift to improve your oral health. 1. Sinus lift is done to improve the bone mass of the maxilla or the top jaw that can help increase the success of dental implants. Artificial bone grafting material or iliac crest is attached to the bone or endosseous, which is located below the maxillary sinus floor. The existence of

sinus tends to compress the amount of bone in the upper jaw, which is also known as sinus augmentation. 2. You need a sinus lift if your upper jaw does not have sufficient bone, or your sinus is too close to your jaw for dental implants. People who have lost their teeth in the upper jaw or molars do not have enough bone for implants. This condition may be due to the skull's anatomy wherein the lower jaw has more bone than the upper jaw. Some people may have lost the bone due to gum or periodontal disease. In many cases, tooth loss can result to bone loss. When you lose your teeth, your bone will begin to be absorbed again back to the body. There will be no adequate bone for dental implants if teeth are lost for a long time. 3. Sinus lift can surely improve oral health. Through this procedure, teeth that are long gone can be replaced with dental implants. The need for a sinus lift will depend on the anatomy of the jaw line. A dental implant requires a critical bone mass that surrounds it to

be able to bind to it and have enough stability and strength. Once dental implants are done, having a perfect smile is already possible. In addition, oral infection can be prevented due to tooth loss. Sinus lift is done at the dentist's clinic. A certified dentist begins the procedure using a local anesthesia. Several methods can be done for sinus lift, which are all technical. However, there is one result with all these methods, which is the dentist's access to the sinus' lower part or the membrane located over the jawbone. The sinus membrane is then lifted and the dentist fills the gap using the bone graft material. The space will eventually form a bone tissue, increasing the bone mass of the area. Afterwards, the part will be closed and stitched up. The recovery usually lasts for at least six months. If you have any questions regarding maxillary sinus we are more than happy to answer, just give us a call! Remember your smile is only a phone call away!!!! (954) 456-1939. BROWARD DENTAL IMPLANTS

Florida Grand Opera new season with Puccini’s ‘Tosca’ - the story of Floria Tosca By Eleanor Hannan The opera takes place in Rome in the year 1800. As the opera begins, Napoleon Bonaparte is advancing with his army upon Rome. Bonaparte is a political enemy of Baron Scarpia, who hungers for the love and attention of Floria and even willing to kill for her affection. With torture, murder, attempted rape and suicide in the plot, Tosca is a riveting psychological drama that leads to one of Grand Opera’s most stunning conclusions. Puccini’s master work tells the story of Floria Tosca, a famous diva, who fights to save her lover Mario from death at the hands of Scarpia, who is fascinated with Floria and wants her for himself. It is a gripping tale of political turmoil and human passion with a devastating end as Mario is shot and Tosca, believing it was her fault, hurls herself over the castle wall and falls to her death. Two dazzling sopranos, Kara Shay Thom-

son and Jouvanca Jean-Baptiste, make their FGO debut as the seductive diva Tosca. Kara is also an accomplished concert performer with engagements at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and more. Florida Grand Opera has auditioned and been selected for the youth chorus to perform in the production. 12 children ages 7 to 17 who are fantastic and exceptionally talented in all phases of music. JAY LENO ONE OF AMERICA’S FAVORITE TV PERSONALITIES MAKES HIS DEBUT AT THE KNIGHT CENTER: Leno began his career as an East Coast standup comedian in the late 1970's and quickly gained a following for his smart, observational humor. Current events were among his regular targets, but Leno’s keenest comments focused on the absurdities of commonplace events, such as workplace bureaucracy, advertising double-talk and the eccentricities of the average person, all of which would remain the backbone of his material on ”The Tonight Show.” Jay always felt that taking over ‘The Tonight Show” from Johnny Carson was among his fondest wishes. Jay has performed hundreds of comedy shows around the world during the last 20 years. Widely known for hosting the Emmy Award winning "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”

since 1992, he has created his own unique late-night style with a combination of humor, talk and entertainment. His “every man” style and personality have helped him earn millions of fans worldwide, who relate to his personable style and work ethic. Jay has authored two New York Times bestselling children’s books, “How To Be The Funniest Kid In The Whole Wide World or "Just In Your Class” and “If Roast Beef Could Fly” and he has traveled globally to entertain American troops. Don't miss seeing and hearing Jay in person for an evening of hysterical family laughter with the leader of comedy on March 30th, 2014 at 8 p.m. at the James L. Knight Concert Hall. Five tips for a lifetime of healthy vision (BPT) - Vision plays an important role in daily life - every waking minute, the eyes are working hard to see the world around us. Are you taking important steps to ensure the health of your eyes for years to come? Forty percent of Americans worry more about losing their eyesight than their ability to walk or hear, according to the American Optometric Association's annual American Eye-Q survey. AOA conducts Save Your Vision Month annually in March to help people preserve vision throughout their lifetime. "It's easy to incorporate steps into your daily routine to ensure healthy

eyes and vision," says Dr. Mitchell T. Munson, president of the AOA. "Eating right, protecting against UV rays and visiting your local eye doctor on a yearly basis are just a few things that can help keep your eyes and vision strong." Consider these five steps for a lifetime of eye health: 1. Schedule yearly comprehensive exams Eye care should begin early in life. The AOA urges parents to bring infants 6 to 12 months of age to their local optometrist for a thorough assessment; under the Affordable Care Act, vision coverage is part of the Pediatric Essential

Health Benefit. Millions of children (up to age 19) now have access to yearly comprehensive eye exams and follow-up care and treatment, such as eyeglasses, through their local doctor of optometry. Comprehensive exams performed by an optometrist not only evaluate a patient's vision, but can also detect certain serious health problems, such as high blood pressure and diabetes. 2. Protect against UV rays Long-term exposure to the sun poses significant risk not just to your skin, but to your eyes as well. No matter what the sea-

Sodium truths: Americans are eating the right amount of salt (BPT) - Contrary to popular belief, the average American eats just the right amount of salt. In fact every single population throughout the world, regardless of location, state of development, culture and cuisine, all ingest a similar amount of salt when compared to the U.S. average. It doesn't matter if people get their salt from packaged or restaurants foods or add it in themselves, the amount stays fairly constant. Salt, a combination of sodium and chloride, is a nutrient that is essential to life and good health. In fact, aside from water, salt is the most common food ingredient we consume - and that's no accident. Without salt, the blood in our circulatory system would simply stop flowing and we would quickly die. The sodium portion of salt allows our nerves to transmit their electrical impulses throughout our body and aids in the absorption of nutrients. Salt's chloride portion is also instrumental in maintaining proper blood pressure. Like all other essential nutrients, our bodies naturally regulate the proper amount we need to stay healthy. If you eat too much salt, the body simply eliminates it along with all other waste materials. Likewise, any activity resulting in excessive loss of these nutrients, such as exercise, has to be counterbalanced by an increased consumption of salt to make up for this additional loss. If you don't get enough salt the body reacts by going into overdrive in order to hold on to the salt it needs. The hormonal system (called the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System or RAAS) switches on to counter the effects of insufficient salt consumption. In the short run this is just a normal process of the body adjusting, but if low salt levels persist then the consequences for our overall health can be very severe. According to recent findings from the Institute Of Medicine, consuming less than half the current average can cause harm. Consuming insufficient amounts of salt can lead to the development of Insulin resistance in as little as one week. A persistent low salt diet can lead to diabetes, cardiovascular failure, dehydration, unsteadiness, loss of cognition and death.

Give your eyes a break from digital device use Two-thirds of Americans spend up to seven hours a day using computers or other digital devices such as tablets and smart phones. This constant eye activity increases the risk for computer vision syndrome (CVS) and can cause problems such as dry eye, eyestrain, headaches, neck and/or backache, and fatigue. Six nutrients - antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, essential fatty acids, vitamins C and E, and the mineral zinc have been identified as helping to protect eyesight and promote eye health. Since the body doesn't make these nutrients naturally, it's important that they are incorporated into a daily diet and, in some cases, supplemented with vitamins. 5. Practice safe wear and care of contact

lenses More than 40 million Americans use contact lenses to improve vision. While some adhere to the medical guidelines for wearing contacts, many are breaking the rules and putting their vision at risk. Contact lens wearers who don't follow their optometrist's recommendations for use and wear can experience symptoms such as blurred or fuzzy vision, red or irritated eyes, pain in and around the eyes or, a more serious condition in which the cornea becomes inflamed, also known as keratitis. Make this the best Passover ever at Kosher Kingdom

AVENTURA - As Passover approaches, many families are starting to make plans for this holiday - and what to serve the many guests who will celebrate the history and heritage. While getting the Seder together is always a major undertaking, Order your Passover needs from Kosher Kingdom in Aventura. Kosher Kingdom is a family owned and operated Glatt kosher market that has been serving the community for decades. “Passover is a very special time, and our customers know they can count on us to help make it the very best experience it can be,” says Philip Einhorn, who owns Kosher Kingdom with his father and business partner, Michael. “Many of them have been coming to Kosher Kingdom for years. They keep coming back because they expect the best, and they know that’s what they’ll find at Kosher Kingdom. Pleasing our customers with quality foods and personalized, professional service is our main goal.” Kosher Kingdom will provide a complete, delicious meal that your guests will be talking about for weeks to come. Or, if you prefer to cook the meal yourself, you’ll find the finest, highest quality meats, poultry and fish and the freshest produce waiting for you. You can shop in person, call in your order, or shop online at the convenient, easy-to-use website. WHAT YOU WILL FIND AT KOSHER KINGDOM • A varied deli counter: Offering a delicious array of Jewish foods, including fresh salads, chicken, meats and fish, moist stuffed cabbage, and bite-sized potato bourkas. Entertaining friends during the next sports event? Order a six-foot sub. Corned beef sandwiches could be straight from New York City. • The Butcher Shop: Quality, impeccably

• From dinner packages to fresh items made daily, this is the one place to stop year round for great food and quality service

fresh meats, poultry and fish are delivered daily from trusted kosher purveyors. Kosher Kingdom maintains a large supply of Bet Yosef and Shor Habor beef as well as CHK chickens. Mouthwatering, homemade sausages and kebobs prepared with chicken, veal, lamb or turkey are great for the grill. • The Bakery: Long before the sun rises, bakers are at work mixing, kneading and rolling the dough for delicious challahs, dinner rolls, cakes and cookies, made with all-natural ingredients. An assortment of sugar-free items is always available. • The Wine Cellar: Make your meal more memorable with a fine wine from Kosher Kingdom. You’ll find a wide selection of vintages from California as well as France, Italy, Australia and South America. Staff is always glad to make suggestions for pairing just the right wine with the menu you are planning. • Pizza King: Too tired to cook? Or want something delicious for a quick lunch? Visit Kosher King’s pizza shop, where you’ll find tempting pies with traditional toppings, plus more unusual varieties like Greek, taco, breakfast, spinach and veggies. KOSHER KINGDOM: SPECIAL EVERY DAY

OF THE YEAR Kosher Kingdom will also cater or provide the ingredients for other special occasions such as bar and bat mitzvahs, brisses and birthdays, anniversaries and shivas. You’ll also find a variety of beautiful gift baskets. But the 10,000square-foot, sparkling clean market is not just for special occasions. If you are the kind of informed, sophisticated consumer who truly cares about your food and where it comes from, you’ll want to shop at Kosher Kingdom for all your regular grocery needs.

“We source our products from vendors we’ve worked with for years and know we can trust to provide us with the best,” Philip says. The Einhorns pay careful attention to every detail. Departments are designed and laid out to make shopping easy and fun. And the market’s knowledgeable staff is always ready to answer questions or help you plan meals and choose ingredients. “The market is a source of family pride for us, and we work hard every day to maintain the reputation for quality and professionalism that we’ve earned over the years,” Philip says. At Kosher Kingdom, you quickly become a friend. “We know many of our customers by name and also their preferences,” Philip says. “We care about the people we serve, and we realize it is a privilege to provide them with a memorable dining experience. Whether it is a single person living alone, a busy professional couple or a large family, we

tailor our service to meet their needs. Whether you are looking for fresh, quality ingredients to cook a meal or are in the mood for a delicious prepared dish for lunch or dinner, we have it at Kosher Kingdom.” Make your grocery shopping experience an adventure by visiting Kosher Kingdom today. Three Islands Boulevard resurfacing has started Resurfacing of Three Islands Boulevard is under way. The contractor has until Friday, April 4 to complete the work. Weather permitting; the contractor hopes to complete the project by Monday, March 31. The work requires closing individual lanes, one at a time. However, as the contractor works through

the intersections, multiple lanes may be closed at the same time. All work will be performed weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with all lanes reopening by 5 p.m. each day. During the resurfacing project, residents should expect delays on Three Islands Boulevard. The City is using a process called “mi-

crosurfacing” for the project. This entails a protective black seal coat and layer of asphalt which will extend the life of the pavement. The contractor is working section by section on the project which runs from East Hallandale Beach Boulevard to the northern City limits. As each section is completed, the con-

Taxpayers get involved in 2015 budget

How would you budget the City’s finances for the Fiscal Year 2015? City Manager Renee Miller asked City taxpayers at the combined Southeast/Northeast quadrants Budget Awareness Town Hall Meeting to suggest how the City should budget to meet the City’s nine strategic priorities. Each resident was given three markers to place next to the areas they believe are most important to receive funding. The results from the three budget meetings are part of the City Manager’s analysis of the budget. The third March budget meeting was held at the Hemispheres Condominium. A fourth budget hearing will be held in May. That meeting will be a call-in and online presentation to encourage additional participation. (Photo courtesy City of Hallandale Beach Public Relations)

tractor will apply temporary road striping. The contractor plans to work from the Three Islands Bridge, north to the City limits, then south from the City limits to the Three Islands Bridge. After these sections are complete, the contractor expects to resurface the section from Hallandale Beach Boulevard to the Three Islands Bridge, and back. No on-street parking is allowed during the project. As part of the Street Upgrades Program, the resurfacing is being paid for through a $200,000 budgeted item. The project began Monday, March 24 with site work preparation. Work was delayed on Tuesday because of inclement weather. The City has timed the work to coincide with the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at Joseph Scavo Park on April 5. Once the new layer has cured in about 30 days, the City will restripe the surface with permanent striping.
