Ad R.O.I and Trackability are Two Distinct
In today’s data-driven world, we often hear about the importance of tracking advertising. But the truth is, some of the most impactful marketing efforts, marketing that delivers fantastic R.O.I. are simply not trackable. You can’t track your vehicle graphics. You can’t track your chamber membership. You can’t track the full impact of your networking meetings. Marketing is about connecting with people, building relationships, and establishing credibility over time.
Consider this: nine out of ten times, when someone sees your ad in Strictly Business Magazine, they don’t click a link or scan a QR code. Instead, they go to a search engine and type in your name. Do we get credit for driving that lead? No. But Big Tech does.
messages that resonate with their emotions, whether it’s the security of working with a reputable company or the joy of being part of something bigger than themselves. Advertising isn’t just about getting seen; it’s about making meaningful connections that lead to lasting relationships.
When you prioritize trackability in your advertising, you are deciding to compete with every competitor in your industry. However, competing against a smaller, more targeted group of businesses offers significant advantages. Focusing on a select market allows you to build stronger customer relationships, stand out more easily, achieve better conversion rates, and avoid the rising costs of competing in an overcrowded digital space.
Becauseattheendof theday, real marketingimpactisn’tjustabout trackability—it’s about trust, reputation, and relationships.
Yes, we can track the nearly 1,000,000 views our website generates. We can show you where visitors are coming from—thousands from across the country, including the U.K., New England, Chicago, and St. Louis. But the bigger picture of advertising R.O.I. is about presence, reputation, and long-term brand recognition.
Not every action or reaction to advertising triggers a buying action. We want to connect you to people, local people who make our city such a thriving place. Beyond just visibility, advertising taps into emotional drivers—trust, excitement, social belonging, and even nostalgia. People buy from brands they trust. They respond to
Strictly Business Magazine helps businesses build that presence. We connect you with the right audience, reinforce your credibility, and make sure when people are ready to buy, they remember your name. Because at the end of the day, real marketing impact isn’t just about trackability—it’s about trust, reputation, and relationships. Our specialty has been and will always be helping companies build their “Expert” status in our marketplace, and doing it all for a very low price.
Warm Regards, Paige Zutavern President

The Nebraska State Patrol’s Crime Lab is undergoing a major expansion and renovation to enhance its forensic capabilities and better serve law enforcement agencies across the state. The $26 million project, located at 3977 Air Park Road in Lincoln, will significantly increase the facility’s size from its current 31,000 square feet to 59,000 square feet. Construction is set to be completed by fall 2026.
The expansion comes in response to a rising demand for forensic services. Since opening in 2015, the lab has been operating at full capacity, experiencing a 23 percent increase in overall case submissions and a staggering 90 percent rise in DNA testing requests. To support this growth, the project will add four new forensic lab positions, increasing the lab’s ability to process evidence efficiently.
During construction, the lab will remain fully operational, ensuring uninterrupted forensic support for law enforcement agencies throughout Nebraska. As the only full-service, publicly funded forensic lab for the Nebraska State Patrol, it plays a vital role in assisting local law enforcement agencies across the state by providing forensic analysis at no cost.
The investment in this state-of-the-art facility underscores Nebraska’s commitment to advancing forensic science and strengthening its criminal justice system. With an expanded lab and additional resources, the Nebraska State Patrol will be better equipped to meet the growing demand for forensic analysis and continue providing critical services to law enforcement.

Coffee fans, Omaha has a new spot you have to check out! Sweetbeans Coffee Co just opened a few months ago off 189th and Harrison, and this place is committed to doing coffee right. The shop sources beans from all over the world and roasts them in house, giving them a pleasantly rich, deep flavor. The espresso in the Americano was bold and pronounced without being overly bitter. Sweetbeans also bakes all its pastries in-house, except the bagels (which are flown in from New York). They offer scones, muffins, croissants and even a homemade strawberry pop-tart.
The space itself is bright and inviting, with plate glass windows spilling light all over the small cafe. The building was really impressing with Sweetbeans’ dedication to doing everything it can in house. This tiny shop is churning out some delicious coffee and baked goods. Whether you’re a coffee fan or you want something sweet to start your morning, give Sweetbeans a shot!

Financial services firms deal with high stakes every day. Whether it’s reconciling accounts, preparing regulatory filings or tracking expenses, every number matters. But, to be honest, managing financial data with outdated spreadsheets and manual processes is time-consuming, frustrating and risky.
A single formula mistake can snowball into compliance issues, lost revenue or even damaged client trust. That’s why more firms are turning to Excel automation to streamline their workflows, cut down on errors and free up time for higher-value work.
"Financial professionals should be spending their time making strategic decisions, not double-checking spreadsheets for typos," said Brandon Zobel, Founder & CEO of ProsperSpark. "Automating Excel and making spreadsheets dynamic doesn’t just save time—it improves accuracy, reduces risk and helps firms scale without the headache of manual processes."
Automating financial workflows in Excel isn’t about replacing all systems—it’s about making them work better. Here’s how dynamic tools can help firms move faster and work smarter:
• More Accuracy, Less Risk – Automating calculations and reconciliations removes human error from the equation.
• Time Back for What Matters – No more repetitive, manual data entry—teams can focus on strategy and client service.
• Scalability Without Growing Pains – Automation ensures that financial operations can keep up as firms grow.
• Easier Compliance & Reporting – Regulatory filings are simpler when data is consolidated and automatically updated.
By integrating Excel with platforms like QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite and Salesforce, firms can bring all their financial data into one place, automatically update reports and make real-time decisions without the spreadsheet struggle. This seamless integration eliminates the need for copying and pasting data from one system to another, merging data manually and manually applying formulas to exports, providing the confidence that the data is accurate and up-to-date.
To see how dynamic Excel tools and automation can change how a firm operates, visit prosperspark.com, email hello@prosperspark. com or call (402) 303-7052.

My role involves fostering community impact, strengthening relationships with business owners, investors and local governments, and ensuring alignment with AltCap’s mission. We are committed to sustainable development and revitalization, helping entrepreneurs access the resources they need to succeed.
Tell us a little about your family. - I am married to Glenda, and we have two sons and a daughter: Jonathan, David and Dalia. Jonathan is married to Emily, and they have two boys, Quinn and Hugo. Dalia is married to Chris, and they have a daughter, Mara. Family is the foundation of my life. I am deeply grateful for the love and support of my wife and children, who inspire me to be the best version of myself every day. My extended family and close friends are equally important, providing a strong network of encouragement and wisdom. Faith, love and mutual support define my relationships, and I strive to create an environment where my family can thrive.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
- Enlisting in the U.S. Air Force right out of high school was one of the most transformative decisions of my life. As a teenager, I had a strong desire to serve my country, and the Air Force provided me with structure, discipline and opportunities for growth. During my first six years of service, I earned both an associate and a bachelor’s degree, setting the foundation for my professional and academic journey. My military career culminated in leadership roles with the Defense Intelligence Agency, where I managed Joint Forces projects involving data collection, analysis and reporting. The skills and experiences I gained during my time in the military have been invaluable in shaping my leadership approach and career path.
Who inspires you? - I am inspired by individuals who demonstrate resilience, integrity and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. My faith in God is a cornerstone of my life, providing strength and guidance in all that I do. I am also deeply inspired by my family, who continually support and challenge me to grow. Additionally, I admire leaders in business and community development who work tirelessly to create opportunities for others and drive meaningful change.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - I am deeply committed to community service and economic empowerment, which is why I actively serve on the boards and advisory councils of several nonprofit organizations. I am the President of the Board of Directors for Heartland Family Service, an organization dedicated to strengthening individuals and families through advocacy, education, and support. Additionally, I serve on the CDFI Advisory Council for Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, working to expand access to affordable housing and financial resources. I am also a board member and finance committee member for Omaha/Council Bluffs Bridges Out of Poverty, where we focus on breaking the cycle of generational poverty through education and strategic initiatives. These organizations align with my passion for community development and my mission to create equitable opportunities for all.

Alec Gorynski GREATER OMAHA CHAMBER
Meet Alec Gorynski, Sr. Vice President for Economic Development at Greater Omaha Chamber.
Tell us a little about your business. - The Greater Omaha Chamber is committed to fostering a thriving business community and a prosperous regional economy. We achieve this through a combination of services for our business members, public policy advocacy and strategic economic development. As part of this effort, I lead our economic development initiatives—essentially, bringing together the right elements to maximize our region’s economic potential.
Omaha has many attributes that make it an attractive place for businesses to grow, including a skilled workforce, strong quality of life, access to key inputs and customers, robust distribution networks, competitive tax policies and reliable infrastructure. Some of these factors are strengths that we leverage to drive business expansion, while others require targeted efforts to enhance market conditions. Our work focuses on three key areas: supporting existing businesses of all sizes, attracting new businesses to the region, and addressing our brain drain challenges. For existing businesses, we help them connect with resources and remove barriers to growth. For business recruitment, we package Omaha’s strengths and market them to companies considering expansion. To combat brain drain, we invest in talent attraction and retention strategies. Ultimately, our goal is to create more primary jobs and ensure population growth to sustain long-term economic success.
How did you get started in the business? - My career has blended community development and finance across local government, private financial institutions and nonprofit foundations. Early on, while working for the City of Omaha, I helped secure federal funding for community development projects. More recently, I worked with donors to invest in initiatives like affordable housing to support economic growth. While community and economic development have technical differences, they are closely connected. The common thread in my work has been leadership—developing strategy and guiding teams toward a shared, meaningful goal. This is the key strength I bring to the Chamber to drive our mission forward.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
- While not the biggest challenge, my time at The Chamber has been professionally demanding—in the best way. Coming from a background outside of economic development, creating a new strategy for our work was both exciting and complex. I often compare it to drinking from a firehose while trying to aim it in the right direction. By taking the time to learn from experienced peers and colleagues, and by listening to stakeholders with a vested interest in our region’s growth, we developed a meaningful playbook to drive economic progress.
Tell us a little about your family. - My family consists of my supportive, caring and overall cool wife, Laura, whom I have been married to for nearly 14 years. We have three kids who are equal parts sweet and onery, taking something from each of our gene pools I suppose: Jamie (11), Ben (9) and Claire (7). They keep us busy with sports, outdoor recreational activities and breaking up fights.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - Team culture is essential to achieving organizational goals.
If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - (402) 978-7935 | omahachamber.org
Your goals are as unique as you.
Meet Ben Tiffany, Treasury Management Sales Officer at Bankers Trust.
Tell us a little about your business. - I sell commercial banking products that help business customers achieve optimal financial success–speeding up receivables and reconciling efficientlydelaying payables while maintaining quality vendor relationships to improve cash conversion cycles, streamlining payables processes, optimizing liquidity management and protecting their accounts from the ever-present threat of fraud.
How did you get started in the business? - Like a lot of people in banking, I fell into this industry by accident. I was an assistant manager at a restaurant/brewery and got tired of working weekends and long hours. One of our servers at the time recommended banking, and now, here I am!
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
- Earning my Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) credential in 2023. CTP is offered through the Association of Financial Professionals and sets the standard in the financial profession. It signifies that I have demonstrated the knowledge and skills required to perform competently in today’s complex treasury environment, had the self-discipline to study and pass a rigorous examination, agreed to abide by a professional code of ethical conduct and that I am committed to keeping my knowledge current by meeting continuing education requirements.
Tell us a little about your family. - My wife and I met and got married in 2011 when we were both living in Colorado. She is from Omaha and I’m from the Fort Collins, CO area. Our kids are 12, 10 and 8. We also have a dog, two cats, a bearded dragon and two small fish tanks.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - First, deciding to step away from college baseball at the University of South Dakota after my freshman year. Without that decision, I never would have had my restaurant job that eventually took me to Denver, where I met my wife. The second major turning point was stepping away from a career in the restaurant industry to start as a part-time teller in banking.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - I enjoy my kids’ activities, even though it comes with a hectic schedule–softball, basketball, ninja warrior classes, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. I also enjoy going to a lake and swimming, fishing and relaxing or hanging out on the back deck at home with friends on a summer day.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?Make-A-Wish Nebraska. I’m currently the Committee Chair for the Young Leaders Council which is a committee in charge of planning an annual fundraising event to help grant wishes. When my nephew was 3 years old, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, which started as a tumor in his abdomen but then spread throughout his body. I joined Make-A-Wish not long after his diagnosis and eventually helped my sister get connected with Make-A-Wish Colorado who granted his wish to go swim with dolphins a few months before he passed away. Make-A-Wish is an incredible organization that provides hope to kids with critical illnesses and a much needed break from painful and often agonizing treatments. Brian Honerman PROTECH
Meet Brian Honerman, a Inside Sales Representative at Protech.
Tell us a little about your business. - Protech is a family oriented company that has been around for more than 20 years. They specialize in servicing vehicles from boom trucks, vans, and pickups. We install service bodies, snow plows, cranes, flatbeds and many more units.
How did you get started in the business? - I went to school at the University of Nebraska at Kearney for five years studying business administration and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution. I have always enjoyed the sales process and how it works from the manufacturer, all the way to the end user. For me, it started from stocking shelves at target, to selling Milwaukee tool, to selling plumbing materials and applying all of that to getting where I am now at Protech filling needs of service bodies, van upfitting, and snow plows. It has been a long road, but a very rewarding and humbling experience.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? - It may sound corny or cliché, but being offered to work for Protech. It has allowed me to have more freedom, stability and apply everything I have learned to this career. This company has made me feel valued and that I am a part of the team.
Tell us a little about your family. - My parents live in North Platte, Nebraska where they work in financing and education. I have one brother who works in athletic training and a sister who is currently studying for her master’s degree in Ames, Iowa.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - Being told I wouldn’t have a position open if I wanted to return to Nebraska. I made the decision to take a lower paying job to move back to Omaha and get more work experience. It eventually led me to Protech, which I am very grateful for.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - Golf with friends and have a few brews along the way.
Who inspires you? - My father, Mike Honerman. He has been through so much over the last five years from losing both his parents in back-to-back years, getting a gall stone, partial removal of his pancreas and fighting ampullary cancer, all while trying to be a great husband, father, and employee. I am quite proud to be his son and thank God for him every day.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - “Your past does not determine your future.” Just because I have made mistakes in the past does not mean I can’t improve on that and make a better life for myself.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? - Being the General Manager of an NFL team. I love football and love the process of evaluating players on and off the field and supplying coaches with the best players possible. (Go Pack Go!)
What is your favorite movie? - Good Will Hunting. An incredible film that teaches lessons on life, friendship and that it is okay to have imperfections.
What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? - Dirty Birds. Hands down, the best chicken in town. Try the Omahawt. Trust me. If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - (712) 220-7158 | brianhonerman@protechcb.com | protechcb. com

TIKKA TALK
Meet Kanak Sabnekar, Co-Owner at Tikka Talk - Omaha.
Tell us a little about your business. - Tikka Talk is all about bringing the bold, authentic flavors of Indian fusion food to the Midwest. What started as a passion for fusion food has grown into a food truck that celebrates India’s rich culinary heritage. We take pride in serving fresh, flavorful dishes made with love. From sizzling tikkas to fragrant curries, our menu is crafted to deliver a true taste of India fusion food on the go.
How did you get started in the business? - Tikka Talk started from a deep love for Indian fusion food and a desire to share authentic, home-cooked flavors with the Midwest. The idea of a food truck came from wanting to make these flavors more accessible and bringing fresh, flavorful Indian dishes straight to the people, rather than waiting for them to find us. What started as a small venture in Des Moines, IA quickly grew into something bigger, and today, we’re proud to be serving Iowa and Omaha with the same passion and authenticity that inspired us from the start.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced professionally is balancing multiple responsibilities while working a full time job and running my own food truck business. Another challenge has been hiring and retaining the right talent for the food truck. Finding reliable team members who align with the vision and ensuring smooth operations has been a learning experience.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? - One of our proudest achievements at Tikka Talk has been the rapid growth we’ve experienced. Less than a year after opening our first food truck in Des Moines, we expanded to Omaha and opened our second location. The success of the first truck exceeded our expectations, and the demand for our authentic Indian street food in Omaha was clear. Opening the second food truck so quickly was a big milestone for us.
Tell us a little about your family. - My family lives in India, and although we're spread across different cities, we stay closely connected through regular calls and visits.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - One of the biggest turning points in my life was deciding to open Tikka Talk while having a full time job. It was a leap of faith, trying to pursue something more personal and creative along with managing a full time job.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - On a day off, my favorite thing to do is spend time with family and friends, and play recreational/competitive volleyball.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - One unique thing about me is how I balance two very different passions—working in tech and running a food truck.
Who inspires you? - I’m inspired by Steve Jobs. His vision, innovation and relentless pursuit of excellence have always motivated me. What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - One organization that stands out to me is Food Bank for the Heartland in Omaha. Their mission to end hunger in our region resonates with me deeply, especially as I’m in the food industry and recognize the importance of access to healthy meals.

Since its inception in 2006, Lincoln Coin and Bullion has grown into a full-scale Precious Metal Bullion Dealer that serves clients both purchasing and selling 3- to 7-figures of Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium Bullion (old jewelry, dental gold, sterling flatware). It also deals in Historic Currency Collections (numismatic coins and bills), including providing quotes and paid appraisals.
Lincoln Coin & Bullion realizes clients often prefer to have a small footprint, to not broadcast their personal business, which is completely understandable. For this reason, Lincoln Coin & Bullion is locked-door and appointment-only dealer. It keeps only minimal numismatics at its location to eliminate folks milling about.
To test precious metals, large and small, Lincoln Coin & Bullion has a $20,000 XRF (x-ray machine), a $3500 ultrasound machine and traditional sigma testers to provide its clients with the most reliable, high-quality experience possible.
Lincoln Coin & Bullion likewise keeps a decent stock, but any bullion clients order gets shipped to its location first for its clients’ examination. It is passionate about keeping a concise, quality selection of inventory, the bullion that effectively does its job.
“What makes us different is that we are informative and transparent with our pricing. Most ads for similar companies say ‘We buy your gold!’ or ‘The sky is falling; you better protect your money and buy precious metals!’ However, our approach to advertising is ‘Here we are; here’s what we do.’ We break out premiums on our website and are happy to show exactly how we determine what we will pay for something. You can expect a secure, private, in-person experience every time. We’re not your typical coin shop,” says Owner Pat Moran.

The greater Omaha area is poised to welcome a new high school where students can thrive academically and spiritually in a faith-based environment. Omaha Christian High School (OCHS) aims to meet a growing need for a non-denominational Christian high school dedicated to faith immersion and academic excellence.
OCHS is the result of a collaborative effort between Omaha Christian Academy (OCA) and Lifegate Christian School (LCS). The school aspires to be more than a place of learning; it seeks to integrate faith and knowledge to equip students for lives of purpose and impact.
A major milestone has already been achieved: thanks to a generous donor, OCHS has acquired a building and 19 acres of adjacent land near I-680 and Maple Street. Renovations, managed by Lueder Construction, are currently underway, classes begin September 2, 2025.
The estimated budget for acquiring the property, completing renovations, furnishing the school, and operating for the 2025-2026 academic year is just over $16 million.
OCHS purchased the former Emerald Pointe office building at 2707 North 108th Street. Once renovated under the architectural guidance of Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture, the facility will feature state-of-the-art amenities.
Future campus plans include a sports complex for football, track, soccer, softball, and baseball. A second building will house a gymnasium and additional classrooms, ensuring the campus can accommodate up to 600 students while fostering growth and community engagement.
The educational approach at OCHS is holistic, addressing the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social aspects of student development. All core subjects promote a biblical worldview while aligning with Nebraska State educational standards.
“We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm and support we have received so far,” said Christi Krehbiel, Head of School at OCHS. “This project represents a unique opportunity in Omaha. More and more parents are seeking a non-denominational, faith-based educational option that partners with them in raising their children. We don’t want to wait any longer to provide it.”
OCHS needs to raise an additional $4 million to meet its goal. “We have enough funds to renovate, equip, and staff the school ahead of opening in September 2025. Over the next nine months, we will work tirelessly to secure the remaining balance,” Krehbiel stated. To encourage donor engagement, OCHS has developed a variety of naming opportunities with guidance from Strawhecker Nonprofit Services, the school’s fundraising development counsel.
Additionally, OCHS is partnering with 316 Strategy Group to develop branding, website and social media strategies, ensuring that the school’s message reaches a broad audience and inspires community support.
As the school prepares to open, the leadership team invites the community to be part of this exciting journey.
For more information about Omaha Christian High School or to get involved, please contact Christi Krehbiel at 531.346.5399 or CKrehbiel@OCGuardians.org. Visit the website at omahachristianhighschool.org.

Clarkson Regional Health Services, founded by Bishop Robert Clarkson in 1869, was originally established as Omaha’s first hospital by Clarkson and his wife, Meliora. It was later renamed Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in their honor.
Following a leadership transition, the organization is shifting its mission. Dr. Jim Canedy, an orthopedic surgeon, has retired as the nonprofit’s president and CEO, with Dr. Bill Lydiatt, a head and neck surgical oncologist and former chief medical officer with Methodist Health System, stepping into the role.
Speaking about the mission change, Lydiatt stated, "Our mission is no longer to directly provide health services, but more to support different ways of improving access to high-level care.. We're very focused on maintaining and developing high-quality care and trying to reduce costs when possible."
To fulfill this new mission, the organization is focusing on grant-making, donations, internal project development, and leveraging data to assess the effectiveness of its initiatives.

March is National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Awareness (NIDDA) Month. Meant to create awareness about the importance of including people with IDD in all facets of community life, Mosaic in Omaha will kick off its own NIDDA educational and awareness campaign with the theme, “Belonging Matters.”
Mosaic is a nonprofit, whole-person healthcare organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other diverse needs across 12 states in more than 750 communities. As its mission is to “relentlessly pursue opportunities that empower people,” Mosaic’s ultimate goal is to help people it serves to have full, meaningful lives and to make their own choices that reflect their personal goals and aspirations.
“A large part of helping people with IDD and other diverse needs to fully lead the lives they choose is by advocating community participation. Equal belonging matters not only to the people we support, it also matters to our communities as a whole,” said State Operations Director for Nebraska Rochelle Cross. “Social welcoming of diverse people creates a harmonious, vibrant society where everyone’s participation and contribution matters and is respected.
“In order for us to help those we support to equally participate in their communities, we greatly depend on and want to inspire potential community partners such as businesses, churches, charities, civic organizations and others to employ them, include them in worship, offer volunteer and group recreation opportunities and more. Those partners make a real, positive impact on their lives and the community as a whole—so much so, you can see it,” added Cross.
To find out more about how partnering with Mosaic helps people with IDD become active in their communities in varying ways, contact Angie Tunink at (402) 315-4302 or at angela.tunink@mosaicinfo. org or visit mosaicinfo.org/nidda-month.
In addition, Mosaic in Omaha is hosting a free, one-hour Discover The Possibilities event on March 12th at 9:00am or 11:30am. Members of the community are invited to participate in the event.

Founded by John Kenefick in 1975, the heart of the CUES School System has always been about building a safe place for students to thrive academically and socially. Now, Father Dave Korth continues that tradition. Between their three schools — Sacred Heart, All Saints and Holy Name — they are giving nearly 600 children from pre-K through eighth grade a quality education rooted in Catholic faith and values.
In order to continue this success, CUES needs your help. Most of their families face difficult financial circumstances and simply cannot afford the costs to educate their child(ren). They choose to send their child(ren) to CUES schools because of their inclusive, supportive culture and their academic success. No child is turned away because of their inability to pay. They want to make sure they have CUES education as a choice, and they believe in supporting the well-being of the entire family.
The cost to educate one child is $14,750. And their funding comes from donors like you. To help underwrite these costs, CUES, since 1986, holds an annual fundraising event, The Gathering, which will be held Thursday, April 10, at Steelhouse Omaha.
On behalf of the students, who are thriving each and every day, CUES kindly encourages you to consider one of their sponsorship opportunities. It is only with your support that we can continue to help students attain their dreams for another 50 years! Contact Trish Walz at trish@cuesschools.org for more information.
The CUES School System provides quality education with individualized support to students and families. Their three schools are located in Omaha – Sacred Heart, All Saints and Holy Name. Learn more at cuesschools.org.

Keep Nebraska Beautiful (KNB) was proud to attend the 2025 Keep America Beautiful (KAB) National Conference in Washington, D.C., from February 10-13. This annual gathering brought together affiliates from across the country to share ideas, undergo training and celebrate achievements in community sustainability.
During the conference, KNB participated in affiliate training sessions designed to strengthen their programs and operations. They also had the opportunity to hear from fellow KAB affiliates, learning from their successes and challenges. The energy and innovative ideas shared throughout the event will help KNB continue to enhance their efforts here in Nebraska.

The AIM Institute was recently recognized for over 25 years of service by the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce for AIM’s programs serving Southwest Iowa. Some of AIM’s initiatives in SW Iowa are:
Events such as Hour of Code align with AIM’s Youth in Tech and Youth Academies programs, which open the door to the possibilities of a student’s potential in tech. Recently, AIM hosted an Hour of Code event at Woodrow Wilson Middle School for close to 900 students. Computer coding-related activities sparking creativity and problem-solving skills taught at the event helped introduce students to a rewarding tech career.
AIM’s SWIFTT initiative or Southwest Iowa Free Technical Training, offers entry-level and accelerated training programs for Iowans interested in a career in technology. The program is generously fully funded by the Charles E. Lakin Foundation, meaning that participants can register at no cost to themselves.
Through AIM’s partnership with the Council Bluffs Community School District, about 25 Thomas Jefferson High School students recently received refurbished Chromebook computers donated by AT&T and Human I-T. The students are part of AIM’s TRIO program to prepare first generation, under-resourced high school students for college.

Migraine headaches affect approximately 18% of the U.S. population between the ages of 18 and 44, with a significant impact on workplace productivity. Presenteeism—when employees work despite being unwell—due to migraines can be 3 to 10 times more costly than absenteeism. Last month, Dr. Soh, a neurologist and headache specialist, led an informative discussion at the Greater Omaha Chamber on how headache disorders affect the workplace and what steps employers and employees can take to address these challenges. Raising awareness about migraines can reduce stigma and provide guidance for both those affected and their colleagues, ultimately strengthening the community. The Greater Omaha Chamber Young Professionals program develops the next generation of business leaders, encouraging investment in Omaha’s future prosperity. To learn more, visit omahachamber.org/yp/.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is always a special occasion, but this year, EPIC for Girls took it to the next level with its Lead Her Forward Sports Week: a celebration of representation, opportunity, and the power of women in athletics. Through partnerships with local collegiate and professional teams, EPIC for Girls created unforgettable moments for young female athletes while raising crucial funds to continue its mission.
The week kicked off with high energy and an incredible turnout at the Omaha Supernovas game. Nearly 100 young girls from EPIC’s partner programs participated in the high-five tunnel.
"To see the girls' faces light up at the opportunity to high-five professional players they admire was just what we were hoping this event would provide,” said Kimberly Thomas, EPIC for Girls’ executive director.
Another standout moment came when four young girls from EPIC partner JSSA Volleyball took the stage at the athlete meet and greet to interview professional players, including LOVB volleyball player Lexi Rodriguez and Omaha Queens FC Captain Eliany Parras. The chance to sit beside their idols and ask meaningful questions was exactly the kind of empowering opportunity EPIC exists to create, said Thomas.
Stay tuned for interview releases!
With the community's support, EPIC for Girls has raised $1,072 so far, and thanks to a matching donor, that total has doubled to $2,144.
While funding is critical, representation is just as important. NGWSD fell during Black History Month, making this celebration even more meaningful. It was an opportunity to honor the Black women athletes who paved the way while reaffirming EPIC for Girls’ commitment to equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all girls in athletics.

Midlands Community Foundation (MCF) is pleased to announce that 115 of the 180 charitable funds under its non-profit umbrella took advantage of MCF’s Matching Charitable Program. The program, sponsored by MCF, raised more than $1.8 million from Giving Tuesday, December 3, 2024, through January 6, 2025, with $635,932 qualifying for matching funds from MCF.
Under the Matching Charitable Program, MCF provided matching funds for NEW contributions made to existing and newly created Affiliated General, Designated, Donor Advised, Field of Interest and Scholarship Funds. Matching donations were made on a dollar-fordollar basis up to a limit of $5,000 per individual donor, and subject to a maximum of $100,000 of matching dollars being available for all Funds. Because more than $100,000 was contributed to all Funds, the matching dollars were pro-rated among such donors based on the total contributions made.
"Each year we are thrilled to see how the Match Program highlights how much more we can do together. MCF is pleased to offer this program to our more than 180 charitable funds and it's always incredible to see what they accomplish with this opportunity," said Diane Knicky, MCF Executive Director. "We commend them on their outreach and connection with donors. Commercial construction is a dynamic process that requires meticulous planning, expert execution, and ongoing support to ensure the client's vision is successfully realized. Cheever Construction follows a structured approach to bring projects from design to completion while maintaining strong client collaboration. This process is broken down into three key phases: Pre-Construction, Construction, and Post-Construction.
Cheever Constructions approach to creating or fulfilling a client’s vision starts with spending time with the client months before construction begins. The time spent in meetings with our clients during the Pre-Construction phase allows our team of professionals to get a true understanding of our clients’ needs to accomplish their project vision. After we gain knowledge of their project objectives our team makes recommendations on construction methods, and scheduling needs to ensure that our client’s vision comes to fruition.
Once the Pre-Construction planning is complete, the project transitions into the Construction phase. This phase includes periodic meetings with clients. These meetings are held to update construction progress, discuss any changes the client wishes to incorporate, and project challenges and solutions.
Upon completion of the project the Cheever Construction team continues communication with clients to address any issues that come up while they are operating in their new facility. The first year there are inevitably small challenges as the new facility or space acclimates. The construction team is always prepared to jump in and guide clients so they can troubleshoot any items they have.
Making Ideas Work in the engineering and automation space, specifically controls integration. What we do can be technologically complex, especially on large projects, and is often the reason we're brought in—as the client knows exactly what they want the end result to be but wants to find a valued partner to help them sort through the complicated steps to help them achieve that end result,” says Mike Obst, Omaha Business Development & Client Relationship, Huffman Engineering.
HEI’s core values are all built around helping clients achieve the following goals:
• Doing the Right Thing
• Embracing Difficult Challenges
• Simplifying the Complex
• Making Others Successful
• Displaying Anticipatory Initiative
• Being Committed & Disciplined from Start To Finish
HEI starts by walking through its client's process, onsite, and learns what it does and how it currently operates. HEI asks about his/her plans for how a system could work for him/her and pin points what is not working well. HEI asks questions on how the clients think it should work to increase efficiency, safety, speed, production or to meet their
Through this structured approach, Cheever Construction ensures that each client’s vision is meticulously planned, expertly executed, and fully supported beyond completion, reinforcing their reputation as a trusted partner in commercial construction.
No need to huff and puff with Huffman Engineering
“We pride ourselves at Huffman Engineering, Inc. (HEI) on
sustainability, energy reduction or production goals.

We Make It Right.” At every step of the process, HEI commits to solid communication to ensure it is aligned with its clients throughout the projects. This is especially necessary during complex projects with multiple partners, which can last several years from start to finish.
“Our goal is always to create lasting relationships with our clients, so when they have engineering and automation needs, our experience, quality, integrity and responsiveness will continue to keep us as partners,” concludes Obst.

As of early 2025, Omaha, Nebraska’s commercial construction market is experiencing significant growth, driven by urban revitalization, industrial expansion, and major development projects. Despite challenges such as rising construction costs and interest rates, Omaha remains a leader among cities of its size due to its proactive approach to development and substantial investments.
Key Trends in Omaha’s Commercial Construction Market:
• Urban Core Revitalization – Downtown Omaha is undergoing a transformation with projects like the 44-story Mutual of Omaha headquarters, a new streetcar system, and a 72-acre park system. These developments aim to enhance connectivity, attract businesses, and boost tourism.
• Industrial Sector Growth – Omaha’s industrial market remains strong, with over 3.7 million square feet of space under construction. Vacancy rates are low, and demand continues to grow, making it one of the city’s most active real estate sectors.
• Suburban Expansion – The city continues to push westward and southwestward, with new infrastructure projects and residential communities supporting commercial growth. Retail and office developments are following the population shift into these expanding areas.
• Significant Investments – Omaha is currently undergoing more than $9 billion in new developments, including upgrades to Eppley Airfield, large-scale commercial projects, and expansions in the medical and technology sectors. These investments will shape the city’s economy and business landscape for years to come.
Comparison to Similar-Sized Cities:

other mid-sized cities due to its resilience, diversified growth, and proactive development initiatives.
