Forest Lawn Cemetery

Forest Lawn Cemetery, Funeral Home and Crematorium stands on 349 acres of rolling hills. It’s home to historic figures and generations of community members. People are laid to rest surrounded by the state champion trees, which are also home to the designated bird sanctuary. For 140 years, Forest Lawn has been committed to serving families and improving all aspects of their funeral home and cemetery.

The cemetery is considered one of the most beautiful in the nation. The longevity of the peaceful place is thanks to a team of professionals who make sure every client, as well as every blade of grass, is taken care of.

Forest Lawn is a non-profit multi-facility cemetery that recognizes people’s needs have evolved with the times. They hold a commitment to listening to people’s desires. They offer a myriad of options for people to choose from. It was the first cemetery in the state to add an on-site crematorium. Now, they offer two crematoriums along with a funeral home and a brand new mausoleum. People can also purchase highly personalized glass front niches to display their tributes to the lives of their loved ones.

A funeral home chapel and a reception hall are also on-site, so people have everything they need in one place.

Veterans are a big part of Forest Lawn’s history. The cemetery is home to the resting place of veterans from every major war since the Civil War. This includes four Medal of Honor recipients. Military veterans continue to be an important priority. Forest Lawn offers comprehensive veterans’ burial benefits, and a brand new veteran’s garden is currently being designed for veterans as well as their families. This will include different options for the different military branches.

Human life isn’t the only kind of life celebrated at Forest Lawn. Forest Lawn understands the eternal bond between a human and their furry friend. That’s why they offer the only “Forever Friend’s Pet Cemetery” in the state. Not only can pets be laid to rest in a beautiful sanctuary, but people can have their own ashes inurned with their forever friend.

Visitors can even be greeted by their resident dog, Bandit. Bandit has been coming to the funeral home with his owner, Director of Sales Angela Erickson, since he was a puppy. Bandit is the unofficial emotional support dog of Forest Lawn.

Erickson and Executive Director Steven Brunken said the ultimate goal of their positions is to help families and individuals navigate loss in an empathetic environment. They recognize that grief is a journey that is different for everyone. They want to make the funeral and burial process as simple and supportive as possible.

The significance of 140 years is not lost on the funeral home’s team. The cemetery is well-kept thanks to their full-time year-round beautification crew, as well as a growing perpetual care fund. Everyone at Forest Lawn is committed to upkeeping the cemetery for the next 140 years. “It is a perpetual care cemetery and will be here forever,” Brunken said.

Every accomplishment they have achieved is because of Forest Lawn’s staff’s ability to fulfill a client’s needs compassionately.

Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Cemetery, and crematorium (and Bandit) will be there for clients every step of the way when planning the celebration of a loved one’s life.

Honoring the Humans Behind the Work”

Lucy Lantis has launched a weekly, highimpact email series directed at mid-level managers, featuring firsthand stories, practical strategies, and raw reflections on workplace dynamics.

Workplace culture consultant and facilitator, Lucy Lantis is unveiling a bold new direction in her work—one that challenges the outdated structures of today’s workplaces and redefines what it means to thrive at work.

“For too long, our workplaces have ignored the most essential ingredient for success: human connection,” says Lantis. “We spend more time with colleagues than with loved ones, yet we’ve never been taught how to build meaningful relationships at work. Instead, we navigate power struggles, unspoken tensions, and systems that stifle creativity, erode trust, and kill innovation.”

Lantis’ latest newsletter, “Organizational Insights: Honoring the Humans Behind the Work,” is designed to spotlight real, unfiltered stories from the field—stories of humanness in an era where AI is the easier option. Rather than traditional team-building rhetoric, Lantis’ work focuses on authentic connection, emotional intelligence and leadership strategies that drive both business success and personal fulfillment.

“If you believe in work that energizes rather than depletes, teams that communicate instead of perform and leadership that embraces authenticity—this is for you,” Lantis says.

Smarter Spreadsheets for Real Estate Teams

Tikka Talk is an Approved UNMC Vendor!

If you work in real estate, you know how much data you’re constantly managing—listings, commissions, investor updates, leases, forecasts… the list goes on. A lot is riding on getting the numbers right and doing it fast. But for many teams, outdated spreadsheets are still the norm.

Manual updates aren’t just frustrating, they’re risky. One small error can throw off the entire team.

That’s why more real estate companies are finding better ways to use their data. Not by switching to brand-new systems, but by making the tools they already use—like Excel—work smarter. And more teams are using platforms like Airtable to simplify collaboration or Make to automate the busywork.

“Real estate pros should be out closing deals—not closing formula errors,” says Brandon Zobel, Founder & CEO of ProsperSpark. “We help teams turn their spreadsheets into reliable, time-saving tools.”

Here are a few ways automation and smarter spreadsheets are helping real estate professionals get time back and reduce mistakes:

• Automate the busywork

• Keep reports accurate—even as your team grows

• Get insights faster

• Use shared tools (like Airtable) to keep everyone on the same page

No more chasing numbers across spreadsheets or emailing outdated reports. Everything’s in one place, and it updates automatically.

“Most teams think they need to rebuild everything from scratch,” Zobel explains. “But usually, we just upgrade what’s already there—and the difference is huge.”

If you’re tired of jumping between tabs, hunting down numbers, or wondering if the latest version of a file is the right one, ProsperSpark can help. Want to see what a smarter spreadsheet can do for your business? Visit www.prosperspark.com for a free consultation, email hello@prosperspark.com, or call (402) 303-7052.

Now that Tikka Talk is an approved vendor at UNMC, they serve food on campus every week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday! They participate in various events like:

• Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6: Springfest at River’s Edge

• 2025 Spring junkstock - April 25-27

• Ralston GREEN Markets – April 5 to October 11

Tikka Talk is overwhelmed by the response from everyone. They know that being an approved vendor is an amazing accomplishment and they can’t help but feel welcomed by the people of Omaha. This approval is just the next step in their journey, and they can’t wait to serve you along the way!

BraveJoy Leadership Helps Family Business Leaders

SuccessfullyNavigatetheUniqueComplexitiesTheyFace

BraveJoy Leadership, a premier leadership coaching firm, focuses on supporting established family businesses as they build and establish the rising generation’s leadership, seek generational alignment and work to ensure non-family leaders thrive. As someone from a family business, Aimee Gibson, founder, understands the importance of building a lasting legacy and preparing future-ready leaders while maintaining family harmony.

“Family businesses are built on values, vision, dedication and legacy, yet navigating leadership changes can be one of the most challenging aspects of leading a family business,” Gibson said. “Our goal is to help these business leaders move forward with confidence, clarity and alignment, ensuring their continued success for generations to come.”

According to the 2003 book “Preparing Heirs: Five Steps to a Successful Transition of Family Wealth and Values,” 25% of family businesses fail due to leadership transitions. In October 2024, MetrixGlobal, a Fortune 500 Coaching firm, reported that companies who invested in coaching services saw a 500-700% return on investment.

So why does coaching matter? Without continued learning and structured feedback, family business leaders can struggle to grow, make clear decisions and navigate transitions, Gibson explained. A coach provides unbiased guidance to strengthen leadership and business impact.

Tell us a little about your business (in your own words). - Alpha Queen Collective isn’t just another coaching business—we’re a revolution. I founded this company with one mission: to shatter the outdated playbook that tells women entrepreneurs to dim their light or play small. We’re here to help badass female coaches and consultants build million-dollar businesses that not only generate serious cash but fundamentally transform lives. We’re not just a coaching company—we’re an ecosystem of unstoppable women. Our global collective provides high-touch mentorship that goes beyond traditional coaching. We give women the strategic systems, mindset tools, and unbreakable community they need to scale businesses that most people only dream about.

Our framework isn’t about incremental growth—it’s about total business domination. We dive deep into six core pillars: sales strategies that convert, mind-blowing marketing, speaking mastery, operational excellence, leadership development, and next-level mindset transformation.

When a woman joins Alpha Queen Collective, she’s not just getting a coach. She’s getting a battle-tested ecosystem designed to turn her wildest entrepreneurial dreams into reality. We don’t just support women—we empower them to rewrite the entire rulebook.

How did you get started in the business? - My story isn’t about a smooth, linear path—it’s about recognizing a massive gap in the market and having the audacity to fill it.For eight years, I was the marketing and business development director at a local collision center. This wasn’t just a job—it was my training ground. I became obsessed with sales, marketing, grassroots networking, and the art of relationship building. But deep down, I knew I was destined for something bigger. The pivotal moment came when I took the stage in front of 800 coaches. One presentation. One moment of pure magic. I shared marketing strategies that could guarantee coaches an extra $100,000 in their bank account. The energy was electric, and something inside me ignited. What I saw broke my heart. Talented coaches—brilliant, passionate women—were crawling back to corporate jobs. Why? Because the certification programs were failing them. They were selling dreams without providing the tactical, real-world strategies needed to actually build a thriving business.

So I did what any entrepreneur would do: I built the business I wish had existed when I first started coaching. Alpha Queen Collective isn’t just a company—it’s a lifeline for coaches who refuse to let their dreams die. My mission became crystal clear: to be the powerhouse coach that guides other coaches from survival to absolute dominance. To create the training, the support, the community that I desperately needed when I was starting out. This isn’t just a business. It’s a movement. And we’re just getting started.

Who inspires you? - My clients are my ultimate inspiration. Every single day, they show up with Alpha Queen like determination. They implement our strategies, push through their internal battles, and break through barriers that once seemed impossible. When I witness these women winning in business—shattering their own limitations, building empires, transforming their lives—it reminds me of our collective power.

This isn’t just about individual success. This is about proving that when women rise, we rise together. Each breakthrough, each victory, each moment of transformation isn’t just their win. It’s a testament to what’s possible when women support, elevate, and empower each other. They inspire me to keep pushing, to keep creating, to keep building a platform that turns dreams into reality.

PATRICK

Dr. Patrick Harty

MIC IMAGING AND PROCEDURE CENTER

Meet Dr. Patrick Harty at MIC Imaging and Procedure Center

Tell us a little about your business. - We are a private practice radiology group with over 40 physicians, and cover over 20 hospitals and outpatient facilities in eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. We have recently expanded our outpatient IR services at the MIC Imaging and Procedure Center, including angiography with angioplasty and stenting; varicose vein interventions; spine interventions including vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty; vascular access; imaging guided biopsies; uterine fibroid embolization; and prostate artery embolization for BPH, in addition to many more minimally invasive imaging guided non-surgical procedures.

How did you get started in the business? - I have been a physician for 25 years, did much of my training right here in Nebraska at Creighton University, and was in practice in Sacramento for 16 years in one of the largest private practice radiology groups in the country at that time. We started 2 outpatient IR centers while I was there almost 15 years ago, and were very involved early on, innovating in the outpatient IR space. Outpatient IR has become much more widely available nationwide since that time, and I am proud to be a part of expanding IR services at our new outpatient center, MIC Imaging and Procedure Center at 119th and Center.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?- I would say the biggest challenge I’ve faced is the widespread corporatization of healthcare on the west coast, with depersonalized healthcare and decreased physician leadership in those large systems. I am happy to be back in the midwest in a private practice group with strong physician leadership that focusses on the sanctity of the physician-patient relationship and individualized patient care. I frequently refer to it as the “Southwestification” of healthcare on the coast, which is an efficiency that is helpful if you are an airline, but a little unsettling if you are a sick patient.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

- I have been involved in a number of clinical trials as a practicing private practice physician, and have always been involved in training of the next generation of doctors. I guess the biggest honor was to have been frequently voted into the Best Sacramento Physician’s list by my peers in Sacramento Magazine’s annual doctor’s issue, and was even featured on the cover a few years ago. That and continuing to innovate in the space of Peripheral Arterial Disease treatment over the course of my career.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - I Competed in the CrossFit Games team competition finals at the Home Depot Center in Southern California in 2010.

What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? - The Drover for Steak, but I do like an occasional Runza with Frings as well!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?

Dr. Jason Fung, because I think he is approaching the diabetes and obesity epidemics appropriately, and he has some pretty fascinating ideas about cancer therapy as well.

If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - MIC Imaging and Procedure Center Main Phone Number: 402-592-0711

STACEY

Stacey Hallberg CARETECH

Meet Stacey Hallberg, the Director of Sales and Partnerships at Caretech.

Tell us a little about your business (in your own words). - Caretech is an in-home care provider offering non-medical services to clients of all ages across Nebraska. We specialize in Medicaid Waiver programs, State Grant Programs, Veterans Benefits, and Long-Term Care Insurance. Over time, Caretech has grown to become one of the largest nonmedical in-home care providers in the state, with a strong focus on serving underserved communities. Our mission is to provide care to anyone, anywhere—regardless of financial limitations, location, or other barriers.

How did you get started in the business? - I’ve worked in the post-acute senior care industry for over 20 years in a variety of roles. With a background and education in nursing, I’ve dedicated my career to serving and advocating for individuals in need of care. It brings me fulfillment to bridge the gaps in our healthcare system and to help every person I encounter in any way I can. Tell us a little about your family. - I have four children, ages 22, 20, 19, and 11. They are, without a doubt, my greatest accomplishment in life. Watching them grow into adulthood and become the individuals they are today has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Every sacrifice has truly been a labor of love.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - A pivotal moment in my life was the career path I chose after college. Initially, I planned to work in a NICU, inspired by my experience having two premature births. However, a friend and fellow nursing school graduate encouraged me to take a position working with seniors. From the moment I started, I knew this was my true calling. It’s incredibly fulfilling to give back to a generation that has given so much to all of us.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - “People will not remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel.” This quote highlights the power of empathy and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - Authentic.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? Beautiful Day - It reminds me to find joy in the little things, even when life presents challenges.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? - Omniscience! I’ve always had a deep love of learning and consider myself a collector of knowledge—both useful and, at times, useless! I research topics that pique my curiosity and would love to be a true “knowit-all.”

What is your favorite movie? - Legends of the Fall

What is your favorite TV show? I don’t watch much television—if it’s on, it’s usually just background noise.

If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so?

Heartland Cancer Foundation Joins Give to Lincoln Day to Support Local Cancer Patients

The Heartland Cancer Foundation is participating in Give to Lincoln Day on May 29, 2025—an annual day of giving that encourages community-wide support for local nonprofits.

This powerful fundraising event makes every gift go further. All donations made between May 1 and May 29 will help the foundation qualify for a proportional share of the event’s $650,000 matching fund, increasing the impact of every dollar given.

Heartland Cancer Foundation exists to provide practical and immediate financial assistance to eligible cancer patients so they can focus on healing. Every donation helps remove barriers to treatment by covering essential everyday expenses.

How you can help:

• $10 makes you a friend of HCF’s mission

• $25 helps cover the small costs that add up

• $50 covers travel expenses to treatment

• $150 covers a utility payment

• $250 covers a car payment

“Lots of small donations can have a ripple effect towards a big impact,” says Chris Blum, Executive Director of Heartland Cancer Foundation. “Cancer affects everyone. This campaign is built on the power of everyday generosity from people who care.”

Fathers have the opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and milestones, as well as hear from expert speakers who provide guidance on development, financial planning, social services and more. Coffee gatherings in November and December give fathers a casual opportunity to connect and support each other over the holiday season. In addition, the organization's flagship fundraising event, Divots for Down Syndrome, is an annual golf outing that raises crucial funds for DADS Omaha’s mentorship programs, scholarships, and essential family resources. The next Divots for Down Syndrome event will take place on September 11.

Beyond meetings, DADS Omaha fosters a strong sense of community through family-friendly events, including sporting outings, summer picnics, and holiday celebrations, all provided at no cost to DADS families, ensuring accessibility for all who need support. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, DADS Omaha relies on donations and community support to continue its mission. Contributions are tax-deductible and directly impact families raising individuals with Down syndrome.

Join Keep Nebraska Beautiful on June 5 at James Arthur Vineyards

Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a stroke and 1 in 4 stroke survivors will have another one. During May, American Stroke Month, the American Stroke Association is raising awareness that a stroke is largely preventable, treatable and beatable.

3 Ways to Beat a Stroke:

1. Spot a Stroke F.A.S.T.: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty—Time to call 911.

2. Know Your Blood Pressure: Keep it in a healthy range to reduce stroke risk.

3. Prevent Another Stroke: Talk to your doctor about managing risk factors.

A stroke happens when blood flow in the brain is interrupted, causing cell death. Quick identification and treatment increase survival and recovery chances. Having a stroke increases the risk of a second one. Identify your risk factors to reduce this risk.

Stroke risk is higher among Black and Hispanic adults due to unmanaged factors like high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. Education and lifestyle changes, such as moving more, eating smart and managing conditions like AFib, can prevent strokes.

Spot a Stroke F.A.S.T.:

• Face Drooping: Uneven smile?

• Arm Weakness: One arm drifts downward?

• Speech Difficulty: Slurred speech or hard to understand?

• Time to Call 911: Get medical attention immediately.

Test your knowledge with the F.A.S.T. Experience, a digital series of games and activities to educate on stroke warning signs.

Autism Action Partnership Hosted Annual World Autism Day Celebration

Autism Action Partnership (AAP) hosted a celebration of World Autism Day on April 6, at Omaha’s Gene Leahy Mall at the RiverFront, with over 1,500 attendees.

The community celebration included yard games and booths that featured community partners, friends and other champions for autism. Omaha Community Playhouse’s VROOM! Mobile Sensory Theater, Omaha Children’s Museum, Kids on the Block Puppets, Miss Amazing, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Omaha Police Department’s Mounted Patrol are among the groups that offered booths with fun activities, and AAP thanks them for their support!

Gotta Be Me’s Heartlight Choir performed on the stage followed by a dance party and karaoke. The Johnson County Central Unified Cheer Squad then put on an amazing show! Rainbow Trout the clown was on-site for face painting and balloon animals, courtesy of UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute. It really was a day to remember!

The event kicked off Autism Acceptance Month (April). Why Autism Acceptance? In recent years, the conversation around autism has shifted from awareness to acceptance. While awareness is important, acceptance is what truly makes a difference in the lives of autistic individuals and their families. Acceptance means creating a world where autistic people are valued, included and supported—not just acknowledged. It’s about moving beyond recognizing autism’s existence to embracing neurodiversity, ensuring meaningful inclusion, and fostering genuine understanding in the community.

Autism Action Partnership is an Omaha, Nebraska-based nonprofit working to fill critical gaps in the state’s autism services. Autism Action Partnership serves the Nebraska autism community through targeted programs that promote support, inclusion and prosperity to improve the quality of life of persons on the Autism Spectrum and their families, thereby enabling them to be an integral part of the community. Methodist Jennie Edmundson is Celebrating National Hospital and Nurses Week

Every day Mosaic works to relentlessly pursue opportunities that empower people to live their best lives. With partnerships from other local nonprofits and organizations, Mosaic values how each different organization can make an impact and meaningful life for those in their services.

Nebraska Extension’s mission is to engage with Nebraskans wherever they are, connecting them with resources, research and innovation of the University of Nebraska. Serving in 83 county based offices across the state and connecting 350 communities together, the Nebraska Extension program helps to strengthen Nebraska agriculture and food systems, inspire Nebraskans and their communities, and enhance the health and wellbeing of all Nebraskans.

In partnership with Alyssa Wessling from Nebraska Extension, Mosaic in Omaha is participating in bi-weekly workshops that focus on information on food choices, confidence in the kitchen and food safety practices. “A couple of years ago, I noticed a big gap in the “all” when it came to enhancing Nebraskans’ health,” says Wessling. “No one was really focusing on helping our adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I wanted to provide those participants with the life skills and resources that they need to feel confident in their abilities in the kitchen and to have more responsibility and autonomy over their own nutrition choices and wellbeing.”

Mosaic’s goal with Nebraska Extension is to provide these workshops over the course of an 18-month period, to ensure all individuals who want to participate, have the ability to go through the program.

Mosaic in Omaha is part of the Mosaic, a whole-person healthcare organization. Mosaic is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. For more information, visit mosaicinfo.org or email Jessica Westerlin Jessica. westerlin@mosaicinfo.org.

“For Native Americans returning home is coming back to a place, whether that is a land, a family, a culture or a community, that you are a part of and is a place that you have a special relationship with,” said Alex Lovrien, executive director.

Founded by Tami Buffalohead McGill and Rebecca Sullivan in 2022, Healing Ribbons is led entirely by Native American women and focuses on building relationships and deepening cultural connections among groups of intergenerational Native American women.

“We believe there is power in gathering and our matriarchs and their families need a safe space to share, celebrate, heal and create,” said Kateri Hinman Petto, PharmD, board president.

The intensive, culturally based program runs from February to December with participants meeting on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. At each session a meal is shared, and participants take part in Native American wellness practices, including talking circles; smudging and prayer; as well as creating their own culturally significant regalia and accessories, which are then worn at the annual community round dance and fashion show.

“Our intention is to create a space for cultural enrichment, healing, learning and connecting with the threads that unite us all,” said Lovrien, adding that: “Native Americans have endured more than a century of hardship, trauma and grief through colonization, boarding schools and genocide, but survived and continue to pass down the rich traditions, values and wisdom that sustain our tribal nations.”

“We are helping our community to heal, thrive and reclaim our cultural heritages through sewing, beading, sharing circles and ceremonies that promote positive cultural identity and holistic wellness that we know will be passed down to future generations,” Dr. Hinman Petto said.

The non-profit is taking donations in support of their mission. For anyone interested in donating please visit their website.

Healing Ribbons is an intergenerational Indigenous women and 2-Spirit organization promoting healing, cultural identity, and wellness through the collective wisdom and teachings. Healing Ribbons was established in April 2022 and holds an annual fashion show and round dance that highlight intertribal regalia from participants. Learn more at https://www.healingribbons.org/

Ellie therapists feel honored to walk the journey with their clients and empower them to make the meaningful changes necessary to add joy to their lives.

Their La Vista clinic is unique because of specially set up offices geared toward Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT.) This type of therapy is aimed at improving the quality of parent-child relationships and enhancing behavior management in young children. “Ellie Mental Health – La Vista wishes to help break the stigma of mental health care. Mental Health Care is Health Care,” Weaver says. “I have spent my career as an Occupational Therapist because I wanted to help restore Quality of Life to the lives of those who were physically suffering. What I observed in the process was that physical suffering could heal with a return of physical ability and function, but if my client’s mental health was not in a good place, their quality of life continued to suffer.”

Ellie Mental Health’s tranquil location next to a lake is an ideal atmosphere for healing. Offices are each set up as a warm and welcoming living room where clients can curl up with a cozy throw blanket if desired. They make meaningful effort to help clients feel a genuine connection with their therapist so they have someone they can vibe with.

Take Charge of Your Mental Health with Ellie Mental Health

As the seasons change and life changes, it can be easy to fall into a bit of a slump. Being healthy includes being mentally healthy. Ellie Mental Health- La Vista wants women to know that mental health care should be treated like physical health care. Both are necessary for women’s overall well-being.

Sometimes, it can be hard to know where to start. Clinic Director and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Joe Suchanic, offers many suggestions to help women take the first step in prioritizing mental health. It can be as simple as investing more time in friends, “Having a strong social support network is vital. Whether it’s family, friends, or a counselor, connecting with others can help reduce feelings of isolation and offer emotional relief,” said Suchanic.

Even though it’s good to invest time in your social circle, it’s just as valuable to take self-care seriously. Whether it’s through a relaxing bath, a good book, or a favorite hobby, it can help recharge and reset your mental state. Self-care and practicing mindfulness go hand in hand. Ellie Mental health can help clients practice meditation or deep breathing exercises. Improving emotional regulation is essential to good mental health hygiene.

According to an article by CNBC, 46% of women reported feeling

burnout. This is a stark contrast to the 37% of men who reported burnout. Suchanic says setting boundaries can help women avoid the dreadful burnout. Setting boundaries not only protects your energy but also helps women feel comfortable with saying no.

Taking care of your mental health can feel like a daunting task. Setting boundaries, physical activity, appropriate sleep, personal hygiene, and self-care, in addition to working and taking care of others, can be hard to balance. However, you don’t have to do it alone. Seeking help from a therapist or counselor when feeling overwhelmed or struggling can help you handle your load. Ellie Mental Health is here for you!

Ellie Mental Health prioritizes women’s health so they can ensure a better quality of life for themselves and create a stronger and more resilient society. Suchanic says, “Therapy offers a safe space to talk through emotions and develop coping strategies.”

Prioritize your annual exams with MIC Imaging and Procedure Center.

Getting an annual mammogram or pap smear can seem like a chore, but it’s absolutely vital to a woman’s overall well-being. Maintaining women’s health is essential because early detection and preventive care can significantly reduce the risk of serious illness.

At MIC Imaging and Procedure Center, Dr. Katie Mendlick says that women prioritizing their health isn’t just good medicine, “It’s vital for the well-being of families, communities, and a society as a whole. “

Dr. Mendlick is a fellowship-trained breast radiologist. She specializes in interpreting mammograms, ultrasounds, and MRIs. She urges women to take their annual exams seriously. It’s easier to treat a condition if it’s caught quickly, “early evaluation leads to peace of mind—and, when necessary, timely care,” Dr. Mendlick said.

Life can get hectic sometimes, which is why it’s important to pay attention to and listen to your body. If you notice anything of concern,

address it with your healthcare provider immediately. For Dr. Mendlick, it’s easier to reassure a patient who addresses their concerns early. The longer a patient puts off their concern, the more potential there is of finding something serious.

However, don’t let the fear of the unknown stop you from booking an exam. “Our goal is to make access to breast imaging as seamless and stress-free as possible for all women,” Dr. Mendlick said.

Stay in the know and educated about insurance policies as well as assistance programs. MIC Imaging and Procedure Center believes that no woman should experience a delay in diagnosis or care simply because she doesn’t know where to go or lacks insurance coverage.

When it comes to breast health specifically, don’t skip your annual mammogram. Prioritizing these small, consistent actions can make a big difference in long-term health and well-being. Dr. Mendlick says mammography saves lives!

Just like spring, women can experience a renewal in their health thanks to each businesses commitment to creating a healthier and happier community. From holistic health care to practicing mental wellness to finally booking that annual exam, each of these businesses empowers women to integrate these practices into their daily routines so their health and lives can blossom.

BUILDING A DREAM HOME

Your Dream Home Is Waiting to Be Built! Building a home from the ground up is a bold endeavor— one that demands vision, meticulous planning, and an unwavering commitment to quality. While the sheer scale of the project can be daunting, the good news is this: you don’t have to navigate it alone. In this exclusive feature, we highlight the professionals who specialize in turning ideas into addresses. The journey begins with a conversation—but what follows is a carefully choreographed process involving site selection, architectural design, material sourcing, construction management, interior styling, and often, complex financial structuring. Each step requires a team that not only understands the technical aspects of building, but also respects the personal significance of the endeavor.

In a competitive real estate landscape, the decision to build rather than buy speaks volumes. It reflects a desire not just for ownership, but for authorship—for a space that aligns precisely with your needs, your taste, and your long-term goals. And with the right team behind you, the process can be just as rewarding as the final result. Everything you need to begin that journey is right here. Because your home should be more than a destination: it should be the most extraordinary chapter of your story yet. Increasingly, homebuyers are discovering that the most fulfilling path to their dream home begins not with a national developer, but right in their own backyard. Across the region, a growing network of architects, builders, designers, and artisans are proving that local expertise isn’t just a perk—it’s a powerful advantage. Building a custom home is a deeply personal process, requiring more than just technical skill. It starts with a dream—an idea of how you want to live, work, and grow. But transforming that dream into a living space requires the collaboration of professionals who understand not just your vision, but also the local landscape: the climate, the permitting process, the neighborhoods, and the community character.

Plan Ahead for Unexpected Changes

One of the first steps of building your dream home is consulting

with your local bank to find the best options that fit your family’s budget. Union Bank & Trust (UBT) has a wide range of options for their borrowers that include lot loans, construction loans, secondary market financing, and portfolio lending. They also offer local servicing to their borrowers. While Mortgage Loans Officer Tami Wolford says some people think that local servicing isn’t important, it makes a difference when the borrower has an issue on a payment or their escrow account. This is why it is much easier to work with someone local that cares, and UBT is known for their excellent customer service which extends well beyond your loan closing.

“There are often unexpected changes that occur during the construction process. Changes can be financed into the loan in some cases; however, borrowers should discuss this process with their builder and lender,” advised Tami. “Borrowers should also be cautious about opening new accounts or increasing their debt during the process of purchasing a home. Changes to their financial picture can impact loan approval. They want to position themselves in the best possible situation to obtain the lowest interest rates available.”

Local businesses know just how important your dream home is to you and they are prepared to help you every step of the way. Building your dream home should be exciting, not stressful, so trust in companies that share your passion for craftsmanship, innovation and uncompromising quality.
