John 17:20-26 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one....”

A Paige From My Notebook...
Using Content Marketing to Showcase Your Expertise & Create Greater Profits
In today’s competitive business world, being seen as an expert in your field isn’t just a nice bonus, it’s essential for growth and profitability. Customers and clients are more likely to trust and do business with those they perceive as authorities. But how do you establish that credibility? The answer lies in content marketing.
Content marketing allows you to showcase your knowledge, experience, and unique value in a way that resonates with your audience. Rather than simply advertising your services, you educate and inform, positioning yourself as a go-to resource. This builds trust, fosters loyalty, and ultimately leads to higher-value relationships and greater profits. Clicks may generate traffic, but they don’t build credibility, loyalty, or longterm success. While online traffic plays a role in brand visibility, it doesn’t guarantee trust or meaningful engagement. A high number of clicks might capture attention, but without authority and reputation, they rarely translate into lasting customer relationships or increased profitability.
If you think advertising is just about getting clicks or QR code scans, think again. Limiting your strategy to only digital interactions could mean missing out on countless real-world opportunities. Did you know that in the 45 plus age category, that only 6% use QR Codes? TikTok brain and AI haven’t taken over the minds of these people just yet, and it is this exact demographic that has the highest net worth and the greatest disposable incomes.
Would you stop lettering your company vehicles? Take down your business signage? Skip networking events? Stop all brand-building efforts just because they don’t produce an immediate “click”? Of course not! So why would you reduce your advertising presence to QR codes, online ads, and investing all of your marketing dollars with BIG TECH? The truth is, people don’t always act immediately. They store brand names in their minds for when the need actually arises. Not everyone needs new tires today, but when they do, they’ll
remember the company they’ve seen consistently. Families searching for senior care may make that decision only once in a lifetime. Major business transactions, partnerships, and investments happen over time, not in an instant.
One of the most effective ways to leverage content marketing is through strategic media placement. Being featured in respected business publications, writing thought leadership articles, and sharing success stories all contribute to reinforcing your expertise. Unlike fleeting digital ads, well-crafted content has staying power. It gets read, shared, and referenced long after its initial publication.
At Strictly Business, we’ve seen firsthand how consistent visibility leads to real results. One of our clients landed over a million dollars in business from a single customer who found them in Strictly Business. That client didn’t reach out right away, but when the time came, they knew exactly who to call. Another client was searching for a business to purchase and found the perfect match through Strictly Business. Last month a new senior care center added two new residents as a direct result of their ad and interview in Strictly Business. That’s the power of staying top-of-mind. Advertising isn’t just about instant clicks, it’s about making meaningful, lasting connections.
Bottom Line: If you want to build lasting credibility, attract high-value clients, and increase profitability, content marketing in print, online and on social media is the key. Strictly Business Magazine has been helping people like you, do exactly that for over 30 years. If you would like to learn more on how all of our client’s get FREE content marketing as part of their ad campaign with us, please give me call.
Warm Regards,
Paige Zutavern President

On Point Insurance Advises Choices for Health Insurance When Employment Ends
Christian Brothers Automotive Opens South Location
Just over half of all Americans access health insurance coverage through their employer’s group plan. Whether an employee voluntarily leaves a job to pursue other opportunities, start a business, retire or due to termination, replacing the health insurance coverage previously offered from their employer is an important step in the process.
If the employer had twenty or more employees, the employee leaving will be given a COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) offer to continue on the employer’s plan for a limited period, usually eighteen months. Employees who continue their employment but have reduced their hours and have become ineligible for employer coverage are also eligible for COBRA. Qualifying life events like divorce, legal separation or death of the employee may make the spouse and dependents eligible for COBRA.
While the coverage can continue, the individual will now be required to pay for the entire premium. There are times when choosing COBRA is the best option despite the cost. Because employer plans often utilize a PPO network which includes nationwide network access, if the employee plans to travel extensively or has children studying in another state, it might be best to choose COBRA. It also may be the most cost-effective choice to continue the plan instead of starting a new deductible, obtaining new prior authorizations and other issues that can be associated with starting a new plan halfway through a policy year if the employee or family member has already had extensive medical expenses for that policy year.
It is important to note that COBRA is not considered creditable coverage if an individual is 65 or otherwise eligible for Medicare. COBRA will also not be offered to individuals who were terminated for gross misconduct, who had not been enrolled in the employer plan or are non-resident aliens not earning income in the US. Being employed by a church or church-controlled employer also prevents COBRA eligibility.
There are other options to choose from when losing employer coverage. Because of COBRA’s expense, choosing an Affordable Care Act plan may be a more cost-effective solution for individuals and families while seeing other employment opportunities, building their own business or bridging coverage until Medicare eligibility begins. There are additional short-term or association-based options available for those able to pass basic medical underwriting.
Sorting through options can feel overwhelming. The licensed insurance agents at On Point Insurance Agency offer free consultations and make its clients’ best interests its priority.

Lincoln Young Professionals Group Supports Lincoln on the Move
The Lincoln Young Professionals Group (LYPG), a program of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, announces its support for Lincoln on the Move, recognizing the initiative’s role in strengthening the city’s infrastructure, economic growth and quality of life. As part of its mission to foster civic engagement and create a vibrant community for young professionals, LYPG underscores the importance of continued investment in Lincoln’s streets and transportation systems.
Lincoln on the Move, first approved by voters in 2019, implemented a quarter-cent sales tax dedicated to street improvements and new construction, generating $18 million annually. The tax is set to expire on September 30, and an April 8 ballot measure will determine its extension. Without continued funding, street improvement projects could face delays and increased costs.
“Lincoln’s ability to maintain strong infrastructure is vital to attracting and retaining top talent, supporting businesses, and improving the overall quality of life,” said Emma Kwapniowski, LYPG Public Policy Committee Chair. “By staying informed and engaged, young professionals can help shape the future of our community.”
The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce also voiced its support and LYPG’s support for Lincoln on the Move at a recent Lincoln City Council meeting, emphasizing the importance of sustained infrastructure investment for business development, workforce retention and economic vitality.
Public policy and civic engagement are core pillars of LYPG. The organization remains dedicated to educating young professionals about the importance of local and state government. This commitment is reflected in events held throughout the year, including YP at the Capitol, an annual event that helps young professionals gain firsthand knowledge of state politics and policymaking.
As the April 8 election approaches, LYPG encourages young professionals to research the issues, engage in meaningful discussions and vote, ensuring their voices are heard in shaping Lincoln’s future.
For more information about LYPG, visit LincolnYPG.com or contact Mia Wilken at mwilken@lcoc.com or call (402) 436-2355.

Traditions Health Raises Awareness about Advance Directives for National Healthcare Decisions Day
National Healthcare Decisions Day is April 16.
An advance directive includes the end-of-life information one wants one’s family and healthcare providers to know about one’s healthcare decisions if one becomes unable to communicate those choices. Within the advance directive, one can include instructions for a wide variety of treatments and procedures unique to one’s own health. Each state has different requirements for advance directives. Some states require advance directives to be notarized, while others require a signature from witnesses. Some states ask for both things.
Although there is no requirement that one must complete an advance directive, they are very important documents for all patients— especially those with a terminal illness. They are also important tools for loved ones. Traditions Health understands that one’s advance directive will be able to speak for a person in the event that person is no longer able to speak for himself or herself; Traditions Health ensures its end-of-life-care services can be relied upon, so its patients’ healthcare desires are met.

Recognized for having the best customer service in the industry, Doering continues to grow its client base across general fleet, upfitted specialty equipment and luxury/exotic vehicles now adding long-haul trucking to its offerings.

SCCandUNLSignBiotechnologyPathwayAgreement
Southeast Community College and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources are teaming up to prepare a trained workforce for Nebraska’s bioscience sector. The colleges signed an articulation agreement for an A to B (Associate to Bachelor’s) Academic Transfer Program, which will allow SCC students who complete an Associate of Science degree in Biotechnology to transfer 60 of the required 120 credit hours for the Biochemistry degree. This agreement takes effect with the Fall 2025 semester.
A degree in biochemistry prepares students for careers in agriculture, bioenergy, biomaterials and human health—all of which are critical Nebraska sectors. Graduates in biochemistry programs attend medical schools, conduct important research on the development of new biofuels and other bioproducts and much more.
“This program opens doors to many careers that are critical to Nebraska, and those opportunities are only going to grow,” said Don Becker, who leads UNL’s Biochemistry Department. “Nebraska is uniquely poised to become a leader in growing the nation’s bioeconomy, and a prepared and talented pipeline of biochemists will be essential to our state’s success.”
“We are grateful to UNL Biochemistry for being the first department at the university to work through this process with us,” said Misty Wehling, SCC Biotechnology program co-director. “The articulation agreement will improve advising for students at both institutions and ensure degree completion in two additional years after transfer.”
This partnership will foster stronger connections between academia, industry and the local community, enhancing economic development for the state.

Whenlosingyourjobmeans losingyourhealthinsurance.
Just over half of all Americans access health insurance coverage through their employer’s group plan. Whether an employee voluntarily leaves a job to pursue other opportunities, start a business, retire or involuntarily leaves due to termination, replacing the employerprovided health insurance coverage is crucial.
If the employer had twenty or more employees, the employee leaving will be given a COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) offer to continue with the employer’s plan for a limited period of time, usually eighteen months. Employees who continue their employment but have reduced their hours and have become ineligible for employer coverage are also eligible for COBRA. Qualifying life events like divorce, legal separation or death of the employee may make the spouse and dependents eligible for COBRA.
While the coverage can continue, the individual will now be required to pay for the entire premium cost.
Because of COBRA’s expense, choosing an Affordable Care Act plan may be a more cost-effective solution for individuals and families while seeking other employment opportunities, building their own business, or bridging coverage until Medicare eligibility begins. There are also short-term or association-based options available for those able to pass basic medical underwriting.
Sorting through these options can feel overwhelming. The licensed insurance agents at On Point Insurance Agency offer free consultations and make your best interest our priority.

• loaded cheese bread
• spinach & artichoke dip

STAR CITY SIX NICHOLE
Nichole Turgeon BIG BROTHER BIG SISTERS
Meet Nichole Turgeon, the President and CEO at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands.
Tell us a little about your business. - Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands partners with volunteers, families, and businesses in the Lincoln and Omaha/Council Bluffs metro areas to provide professionally supported mentoring to youth. Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated in Lincoln for more than 50 years and will provide mentorship to more than 110 youth in 2025 with donor and volunteer support from the Lincoln community. The mission of BBBS is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
How did you get started in the business? - I started in the nonprofit sector thinking it would be a short-term stop. After earning my business degree, I decided to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA for one year to give back before embarking on a corporate marketing career. Instead, I fell in love with the impact my work could have on the community. That passion led me to fundraising and marketing for a statewide nonprofit, but I soon realized I wanted to focus on a mission closest to my heart—supporting children. That brought me to Big Brothers Big Sisters, where I’ve been fortunate to grow and advance into my current role.
Tell us a little about your family. - My husband, Kevin, runs his own consulting business, True Owl, specializing in helping organizations successfully execute complex change initiatives. It’s great to be able to ask for his advice from time to time, although I don’t always take it! Kevin and I share our home with our Boxer dog, Chloe. We love to travel and go on outdoor adventures together.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - I love spending time outside, especially if I can be near or in the water. I love to swim, kayak, paddleboard, or relax on our pontoon boat any chance I get. What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? - I’m not sure what my greatest talent outside of work is but I did recently try ax throwing at a local establishment and I was surprisingly good at it!
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? - Like so many of my colleagues who raise money for a living, I think it would be fun to be on the other side of the table and have the opportunity to make grants and invest in programs to strengthen the community. And, if I could think of a way to parlay my skills into a career that would allow me to travel the world, that would be a dream!
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - Of course, Big Brothers Big Sisters is my favorite cause. As a Big Sister and a staff member, I have seen the incredible impact of our mentoring program on youth and have, in turn, learned so much from my own Little Sisters and all the young people involved with BBBS. I also volunteer with the Orel Alliance, an organization that supports Ukrainian refugees financially and practically as they begin new lives in Nebraska.
What is your favorite movie? - The Big Lebowski is my favorite movie which is a little bit funny since Bowl for Kids’ Sake is the signature fundraiser of Big Brothers Big Sisters all across the country.
If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so?
- The best way to connect with Big Brothers Big Sisters is to visit our website at: www.bbbsmidlands.org. I can be reached at nturgeon@ bbbsomaha.org.
WESLEY STAR CITY SIX
Wesley Leuck SCHWISOW CONSTRUCTION
Meet Wesley Leuck, the Chief Operating Officer at Schwisow Construction.
Tell us a little about your business.Schwisow Construction, Inc. is a General Contracting firm based in Lincoln, specializing in Commercial, Manufacturing and Industrial facilities. Founded in 1985, Schwisow Construction maintains a strong reputation of quality, service and community involvement in Nebraska and surrounding states. Schwisow Construction offers services including Design Build, Project Management and Competitive Bid to meet our clients’ needs efficiently and competitively.
How did you get started in the business? - My journey to having a career in Commercial Construction was not a conventional one. My mentor taught me early on that every industry needs three things. Integrity, Vision, and Leadership. He also encouraged me to consider opportunities in various industries… as long as the company had the aforementioned traits. I have always been fascinated with the art AND the science of construction. I love how these two aspects consistently evolve, and are reliant on one another. Every successful project has a good balance of both science and art. I have been fortunate enough to have had some really great mentors in my career. One of my earliest mentors encouraged me to always have an open mind when it came to my career path. To always be open to new challenges.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?Learning how to delegate. Early in my leadership journey, I had to learn how to trust in others and delegate key business tasks. I was working all of the time, and my family life was suffering. Over the years I learned that delegation is not pawning off tasks that you don’t want to do. Delegation is a great way to embrace development by empowering others, leaning into the individual strengths of team members…And being ok with the occasional failure or mistakes. What has been your most important achievement professionally? - I get my energy from leading teams. I LOVE to develop people, as individuals AND as teams. Over the years, I have helped team members improve their quality of life by helping them prepare for opportunities to grow and advance. One of my mentors David E. Jackson used to say “Where preparation and opportunity meet, you have success” I have always felt strongly that opportunity happens for everyone- we just need to make sure that we are prepared for it. That’s where leaders come in.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - A few years back, I lost two very close family members in a terrible auto accident. I had experienced loss before, but nothing like that. Nothing that close. They were both about enjoying the small things in life, and set a great example for all who knew them. From that day on, I have tried to honor them by living a more simple life, enjoying the smaller things every day. Spending more time helping others. I think they would be proud.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - Growing up on a farm, I learned to appreciate agriculture and gardening. I love what you can create when all of the right elements come together. I enjoy any activity outside, no matter the weather. I also have a passion for fly fishing- in secluded remote locations. It’s all about the drift!! What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - I love Blues and Jazz music. My favorite artist is Buddy Guy.
If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - Email Wesley.Leuck@Schwisow.com or call (402) 477-8084.

AMY DOTY SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Meet Amy Doty, the Dean of Correctional Education at Southeast Community College.
Tell us a little about your business. - I have the privilege of leading the UPWARD prison education program at Southeast Community College where we help students from all walks of life find their “path to possible.” The UPWARD program and Correctional Education division launched in January 2024 to continue our open access mission and meet students where they are to offer the transformative power of education. We serve incarcerated Nebraskans in four facilities in our service area by offering two-year degree pathways in Academic Transfer and Business; Certificates in Construction and Electrical Technology through a partnership with the Lowe’s Foundation; continuing education courses; Professional Truck Driving (CDL); and a new apprenticeship opportunity in the Culinary industry through a partnership with Ybor, the American Job Center of Lancaster and Saunders County, and the Department of Labor. How did you get started in the business? - My journey into this work has been shaped by a deep commitment to education, justice, and community. Before joining the college system, I spent five years as a restorative justice workshop facilitator with the Community Justice Center, where I witnessed firsthand the power of accountability, healing, and transformation. That experience laid the foundation for my passion for education as a tool for change. I later transitioned into higher education, teaching ESL, Civics, and Citizenship at Central Community College. From there, I had the privilege of teaching English at three of Nebraska’s outstanding community colleges, including at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York. Through that experience, I saw the profound impact of education in correctional settings—a realization that would shape the trajectory of my career. In early 2017, I accepted a full-time faculty position at Southeast Community College, and from the moment I arrived, I knew I had found my professional home. SCC has provided me with incredible opportunities for growth, from serving on committees and leadership teams to co-chairing the English Department. Now, as an administrator, I have the privilege of leading in what has become the most fulfilling chapter of my career—helping to expand access to education for justice-involved individuals and witnessing the lifechanging impact of second chances.
Who inspires you? - I’m currently working toward completing my Doctorate in Education, and I draw immense inspiration from the incredible women I know who have paved the way before me. These women have not only built remarkable careers and pursued their passions but have also balanced the demands of family, leadership, and personal growth—all while achieving the rigorous milestone of a doctoral degree. Their resilience, determination, and ability to excel in multiple facets of life inspire me every day as I continue on my own journey.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - Lincoln is home to so many incredible nonprofit organizations, and I am deeply passionate about those that serve the reentry community. In my role, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with several that are especially close to my heart: RISE Reentry Program, the Community Justice Center, the Mental Health Association, Ybor Second Chance Kitchen, the Center for People, and Bridges to Hope. It’s an honor to support and collaborate with them in this shared mission.

Nate Rangel PROFESSIONAL REALTY GROUP
Meet Nate Rangel, a Realtor at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.
Tell us about your business - I have had my real estate license for 6 months. Since getting my license I have joined Berkshire Hathaway Home Services and am proudly apart of the Professional Realty Group. I help buyers and sellers navigate their way through their real estate needs.
What has been your most professional achievement? - My most professional achievement was taking the step into becoming an entrepreneur. There is never a right time to make any changes, or chances. The best time is now. I started my first business when I was 25 years old. I invested all of my money and time into myself. With great customer service, transparency and great final product I was able to boost my first business to success that set the tone and standard for my future business ventures.
How did you get started in the business? - I got a taste of real estate due to the other business I had started and ran prior to deciding to get my real estate license in the state of Nebraska. At the age of 16 I trained my uncle James in the trade of painting. I wish I could say artistic painting, but I can’t even draw a stick figure if I wanted to. I was trained in residential and commercial painting. Interior, and exterior. After years of working under him I decided to branch out and start my own company, Rangel Painting LLC. I was blessed, and fortunate enough to hit the ground running, with multiple crews, at multiple job sites at a time. 2 years into owning my painting company I wanted to open another service based business to service the Lincoln/Omaha area. I did my due diligence, and research for 2 years knowing what I wanted my next company to be. That company was a moving company. The name of my moving company is In and Out Moving. Both of my businesses are 5 stars on google which showcases my work ethic, and expectations of employees I hire. My passion for helping people make their homes theirs by cosmetically enhancing it and also helping people move into their dream homes manifested a fire in me to not only do those things, but now help them find those homes.
What other profession would you want to be involved in? - As a child (and an adult) I have always been fascinated by not only the deepest depths of the ocean, but the starts in the night sky. My dream job as a child was to become a marine biologist. Due to financial reasons and a poor upbringing I was not able to accomplish this goal. I work hard everyday to set my kids up for them being able to explore and study whatever they are passionate about. In the mean time Dad’s (aka me) next major steps are to get my scuba diving certification, as well as my piloting license to live out the dreams of my younger self.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - If I could be remembered by one word, that word would be genuine. I have always made sure to maintain my true self at all times. Within my professional career, and my personal relationships. I have always stayed true to my core values as a human being. I am humble, but can be proud. I am kind, but can be fierce. I have been fortunate enough to trust these inner values that have brought me great success in life. If you can’t stay true to yourself how can you be a trustworthy individual?
If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - If you have any real estate needs it would be my honor to help you. As I tell everyone, I am always a phone call, or a text away at (402) 440-9314 or you can email me at Nate.Rangel@prg-ne. com. I pride myself on providing superb service to all of my clients.

ROBERT
Robert Schlamann BIGGERSTAFF PLUMBING & HEATING
Meet Robert Schlamann, a Plumbing Service Manager at Biggerstaff Plumbing & Heating.
Tell us a little about your business. - Ketih and June Biggerstaff started their family-owned business out of a small garage at their home in Havelock in 1957. They have 3 sons, Doug, Dennis and Don, who eventually took over the family business. Over the years the business has grown to 50+ employees. They provide both residential and commercial services for plumbing, heating and air.
How did you get started in the business? - In 1988, my brotherin-law Jimmie Way of Way & Sons Boiler called and asked me if I was interested in learning a new trade. He knew of a company that was looking to hire young, ambitious people wanting to learn about the plumbing industry. My young family was growing, and the opportunity was a way for me to provide stability for my family.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
- There have been so many important achievements that I have had throughout my 37-year career that it is hard to pinpoint my most important achievement. I would have to say coaching, teaching and mentoring people would be at the top. I take great pride in seeing people that I have trained over the years get excited about their work and their accomplishments.
Tell us a little about your family. - My wife Tammy and I have 3 amazing children along with their amazing spouses and 6 beautiful grandchildren! They are starting to keep us busy with school and sporting activities!
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - Making the career move to the plumbing industry helped me be on the path to success both personally and professionally. I have always viewed my work as a career and not just a job.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - One of my favorite quotes is “Attitude is everything. Pick a good one”.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - A descriptive word that I would like to be remembered by is being amiable.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? - I work out 5 days a week and I am motivated by hard rock music so my theme song would be Welcome to the Circus, by Five Finger Death Punch.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - A few years ago, a family friend’s daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia, and they sponsor a blood drive each year in her name. I believe that it is important for people to do their part and donate if able. We also collect aluminum can tabs that are donated to the Ronald McDonald House. The tab donations help to pay for the electrical bill each month!
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? - If I could have dinner with one famous person, it would be Dale Earnhardt. As one of NASCAR’s greatest drivers, Earnhardt would have incredible stories about his career, rivalries and iconic moments on the track. Having dinner with “The Intimidator” who drove the number 3 would be an unforgettable experience.

The team here at Strictly Business had the pleasure of dining at Salt Creek Senior Living, located at 7360 Husker Circle. From the moment we stepped into the private dining room, available at no charge to all residents, we were impressed by the thoughtful approach to mealtime. This experience, however, was just the beginning of the unique and personalized dining options available at Salt Creek Senior Living.
Unlike traditional senior living facilities, Salt Creek Senior Living offers a true restaurant-style dining experience, allowing residents to order freshly prepared meals from an extensive menu. For added convenience, room delivery is also an option for a small fee. The dining service operates all day from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., providing residents with the flexibility to enjoy their meals at their preferred times. Daily specials are available during designated meal periods and every resident receives three nutritious meals per day. The menu is also designed to accommodate various dietary needs, offering gluten-free, vegan and heart-healthy options to ensure that all residents can enjoy delicious meals tailored to their specific requirements.
One of the standout features of Salt Creek Senior Living’s culinary program is its rotating five-week cycle of specials, which runs for six months at a time. This ensures that residents can enjoy a constantly evolving selection of seasonal dishes without monotony. Our team had the pleasure of sampling a variety of dishes, and each one highlighted the high quality and thoughtful preparation that goes into every meal.
To start, we enjoyed the Chef Salad, a fresh and satisfying mix of crisp greens, ham, turkey, tomatoes, cheese, cucumbers, eggs and red onions, offering a well-balanced and flavorful appetizer. For the main course, we tried the Stuffed Pork Tenderloin, a heartier, comforting dish served with mixed vegetables, creamy mashed potatoes and crispy fried onions. The tender pork, rich stuffing and perfectly seasoned sides made for a standout entrée.
Other highlights from our meal included the Mediterranean Penne Pasta, a decadent dish featuring a creamy blend of feta and Neufchâtel cheese sauce, paired with roasted tomatoes, spinach, bell peppers and mushrooms, all topped with succulent shrimp. The Pub Style Burger delivered classic comfort, boasting a juicy 1/3 lb Angus beef patty grilled to perfection, served on a toasted brioche bun with crisp lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and a signature sauce. For a lighter yet equally satisfying option, the grilled salmon with garlic butter and seasoned orzo provided a fresh and well-balanced meal.
Salt Creek Senior Living is more than just a place to reside, it’s a community where residents can enjoy delicious, high-quality meals in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The dedication to culinary excellence ensures that dining is a pleasurable and engaging experience every single day.

When Reid Morrow placed two half-page ads in Strictly Business Magazine's August and September 2024 editions with the headline, “Considering Selling Your Business?”, he didn't expect a life-changing result.
One of our longtime 1/8-page advertisers for over 10 years, Jon Paolini, saw the ad and connected Reid with their business broker. A few short months later, the deal was sealed and ownership transitioned in February 2025.
“Paige's 'wild idea' to write an ad that spoke directly to an audience of busy Owners was brilliant," Reid shared. "Going direct allowed me to find the exact type of business I wanted without wasting anyone's time”
Because of Strictly Business, Reid achieved his lifelong dream of business ownership, and now Jon & Angela are able to move forward with their next great adventure. A true Win-Win-Win!

10 Million Diapers Strong! Volunteers and Staff Celebrate with a Special Wrap
Nebraska Diaper Bank (NDB) staff and volunteers marked a historic milestone in last month—the distribution of their 10 millionth diaper. Executive Director Tegan Reed said the moment was monumental because she remembers how it all began.
“We started with just a handful of volunteers, picking up diapers from Target and distributing them from a small space,” said Reed. “Today, we have a dedicated staff, hundreds of volunteers and a powerful, community-driven mission. I’m thrilled to keep growing our impact and supporting Nebraska families.”
A celebratory diaper wrap commemorated the occasion, where the NDB team wrapped 7,230 diapers and tied a bow on the bundle holding the 10 millionth diaper. Staff and volunteers shared personal stories about why they are committed to NDB’s mission.
“Every Thursday, I enjoy packing. Knowing that we’re part of helping the community and witnessing all the other organizations helping the community to thrive and help families is just a blessing to be a part of. I feel like Nebraska is very, very blessed to have the Nebraska Diaper Bank,” said Megan Morrison, a lead volunteer.
Following the event, Reed presented the 10 millionth diaper bundle to a local mother at Big Brothers Big Sisters, a partner agency of NDB since 2021. In 2024 alone, NDB distributed over 3.4 million diapers, and it has set a goal of 3.7 million diapers for 2025. Currently, NDB supports 650 babies each month in Lincoln. Donors and volunteers make this work possible. To schedule a diaper wrap or mobile wrap, contact NDB at (402) 557-8205 or email mikaela@ nebraskadiaperbank.org. NFA Opposes Effort to Legalize 24/7 Online Gambling in Nebraska
Nebraska lawmakers recently heard testimony on a series of proposals in the General Affairs Committee that would drastically expand online gambling and sports betting statewide; remove critical safeguards; and put families, children and student-athletes at risk.
Nebraska Family Alliance strongly opposes these bills and testified against the legislation alongside Les Bernal of Stop Predatory Gambling, Pat Loontjer of Gambling With The Good Life, faith and community leaders and individuals who have been impacted by the harms of gambling.
LR 20CA would allow the gambling industry to bypass Nebraska’s ballot initiative signature collection process and place a constitutional amendment to legalize online and mobile sports betting directly on the ballot. LB 421 and LB 438 allow bets to be placed electronically from any phone, tablet and computer anywhere in the state, and LB 63 expands sports betting on all Nebraska colleges and university sports teams.
Nebraska Family Alliance Executive Director Nate Grasz gave the following statement:
“Sports betting is already legal in our state. This is about turning every device in every home and pocket into an online casino. By combining technology, smartphones and gambling, people can lose their house without ever leaving their house.
States with online sports betting have seen massive increases in addiction, bankruptcy, suicide and domestic violence while decreasing household spending and savings. These costs aren’t just unfortunate side effects; they are the necessary components of an industry that relies on addiction and exploitation.
Nebraska Family Alliance believes lawmakers should not be offering the gambling industry political favors at the expense of Nebraska families and communities, so it urges lawmakers to reject these predatory expanded gambling proposals and protect families and student-athletes.

During the event, Cornhusker Bank will present a check to PCM, which will be followed by a press conference. Then, PCM guests will be able to choose shoes for themselves and their families, then shoppers from the public. The remainder of the shoes collected will be distributed over the next several weeks to needy families who are served at the Help Center.

Alzheimer’sAssociationAdvocatesChampion Policy Changes for Biomarker Testing and Memory Care at Advocacy Day
Advocates from the Alzheimer’s Association gathered at the Nebraska State Capitol for Advocacy Day, meeting with state senators to discuss legislative initiatives aimed at improving care and support for those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The discussions centered around two key bills: LB253 and LB61.
LB253 seeks to ensure that insurance and Medicaid cover biomarker testing, which is crucial for achieving earlier and more accurate diagnoses. Biomarker testing allows for better treatment planning, helping patients and their families manage the disease more effectively.
LB61 would require the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to file a Medicaid waiver amendment to address the reimbursement rates for memory care services. Currently, Medicaid reimbursement does not adequately cover the costs of specialized dementia care, forcing memory care communities to absorb financial shortfalls or reduce services. With the number of Nebraskans living with Alzheimer’s projected to increase beyond the current 35,100 cases, ensuring sustainable memory care funding is more critical than ever.
A recent NIH-funded study revealed that Americans over age 55 have a 42% lifetime risk of developing dementia—more than double previous estimates. This underscores the urgency of legislative action to support individuals and families affected by these conditions.
The Alzheimer’s Association urges Nebraska lawmakers to support LB253 and LB61 to improve early diagnosis, enhance care options and alleviate the financial burden on families and healthcare providers. Learn more at alz.org/nebraska.
One in five Americans will experience a mental health condition this year, and nearly half will struggle with a diagnosable condition in their lifetime. It’s critical to prioritize mental health, destigmatize seeking support and promote available resources. The #GreenLightProjectNE aims to do just that!
This May marks the third #GreenLightProjectNE campaign, a collaboration between the Mental Health Association of Nebraska, Lancaster County Prevention Coalition and Tobacco Free Lancaster County (TFLC) to raise awareness, encourage conversation and break the stigma surrounding mental health.
As a campaign partner, TFLC highlights the link between mental health and nicotine addiction. Many individuals facing mental health challenges turn to nicotine products as a coping mechanism, but the cycle of addiction worsens symptoms and health risks. Fortunately, free resources, like the Nebraska Tobacco Quitline, are available. Anyone looking to quit nicotine can call (800) QUIT-NOW for support.
Community members and organizations can join the cause by lighting their buildings or homes in green, displaying a yard sign and sharing support on social media with #GreenLightProjectNE. Starting April 21, free green light bulbs and yard signs (available in both English and Spanish) will be available for pick-up at the Mental Health Association of Nebraska, located at 1500 South 70th Street, Suite 201. These simple actions can help raise awareness and show solidarity for mental health in the community. For more information or to pre-order supplies, email TFLC at info@tobaccofreelancastercounty.org.

The Latest Business Success in Lincoln; Christie and Heath Stukenholtz’s Senior Care Finder
Senior Care Finder is transforming how people find senior care. Co-founders Christie and Heath Stukenholtz created the platform to make the process seamless, stress-free, and accessible. After struggling to find care for a family member in 2015, they recognized the need for a better solution. “It’s like Zillow but for Senior Care and Living,” Heath explained.
Determined to ease this burden for others, the couple spent years refining their idea. In 2018, they teamed up with developers to create a user-friendly interface allowing families to search, filter, and compare options effortlessly. The following year, they received the Nebraska Department of Economic Development Prototype Grant, reinforcing their vision.
Despite the challenges of launching a business during COVID-19, they pushed forward. Christie took the lead full-time while Heath continued working, ensuring financial stability. By 2022, they were ready for Heath to join full-time, and the company’s growth skyrocketed. Hiring its first employee in 2021, Senior Care Finder has doubled in size annually and moved into its permanent downtown Lincoln headquarters in 2024.
With over 100,000 service providers, Senior Care Finder is the most comprehensive resource of its kind. The platform offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and home healthcare options. Unlike other services, it does not require sign-ups or promote specific providers. “We have no bias; we list everything with ratings and reviews so users can make informed decisions,” Heath stated.
The company’s success is a testament to the couple’s dedication and their talented team. Looking ahead, they remain committed to making a global impact. “We don’t want to build and sell; we want to keep improving and making a difference,” Christie shared. Thanks to their vision, finding senior care has never been easier.

If you want to grow your business –know your “why”
I recently had the pleasure of a having deep dive discussion with a very successful young man, who I now consider a friend, who started his business a bit more than 10 years ago. He commented on how his life had gone through a period of personal transition – which in turn resulted in incredible growth in his business. When asked about that change he commented it was simply focusing on his “why”. Rephrasing that – by focusing on his WHY – he grew his business. Maybe that sounds too simplistic to you, but in my view and experience - it isn’t. His response reminded me of the philosophies expressed by thought leader and author Simon Sinek. About 15 years ago he wrote a book title “Start With Why – How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action” which profoundly changed my paradigms.
Every business in the world knows what they do – most know how they do it (unique value proposition), but very few truly understand WHY they do it – their cause, their belief – their passion. And profit is always a result – never the “why”.
Inspired leaders and inspired organizations regardless of size or industry all think act and communicate in reverse order – why, how, what. They “start with why”.
NEW COURT CONSTRUCTION COURT RESURFACING REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE
Lincoln, Omaha and Surrounding Areas (531) 333-5445
To illustrate the importance of why – Sinek compared Samual Pierpont Langley with Orville and Wilbur Wright. Both were laboring to create powered controllable flight. But that’s pretty much where the similarities stopped.
Langly, an American aviation pioneer, astronomer and physicist had ALL of the traditional components we think of as required for success – capital, talent and market conditions. He was highly capitalized with a $50,000 grant from the War Department of the United States (that’s the equivalent of $1.8M today), he hired the best minds possible to work with him, and the market conditions were incredible – the world wanted him to succeed.
So, whereas Langly had ALL the requisite conditions – Orville & Wilbur Wright had literally did not. They ran a bicycle repair shop – they literally had no money. Neither of the them even graduated high school.
To bring this back to the conversation with my friend – Langley was in this to be famous and to be rich. Orville and Wilbur were driven by a belief, a cause, a passion. They believed they could change the course of society if they could figure out this machine.
My friend was exactly right. “The goal is to do business with people who believe what you believe.”

SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS
Before you know it, the school year will be coming to a close and with the longer days, are you prepared with summer activities to fill your child’s time? With activities, camps and classes offered all over Lincoln, which do you choose? With every child’s unique interests it’s a good thing Lincoln provides a variety of options for summer activities.
Make this summer not only memorable but impactful by taking advantage of the many different camps and classes that local businesses are proud to offer to their communities.
Bright Lights
With school out, some children say goodbye to their friends until the start of a new school year. However, summer can actually be a great time to get out and make new friends! Bright Lights Summer Learning Adventures offers 5 weeks of fun, week-long half-day and full-day summer camps where K-8th grade students can not only meet new friends but engage with peers and build confidence all while learning!
Every child has different interests and often jumps from one idea to another. Bright Lights offers great opportunities for learning and fun for K-8th graders on a wide variety of topics. Bright Lights camps encourage hands-on learning and discovery, including in the areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and mathematics), keeping minds sharp in the summer while having fun! Students learn to interact with peers in a new setting, make new friends and work as part of a team. These social interactions are vital for developing communication skills, empathy and the ability to collaborate with others, which are all essential skills for their future success.
Trying new activities and overcoming challenges can significantly boost a child’s confidence and creativity. Summer activities encourage outside the box thinking and imagination, teaching students that they can achieve their goals through hard work, innovation and perseverance. Bright Lights summer camps are also a great way to keep children off social media and encourage them to try new things. Camps are a low commitment opportunity for young minds to try a new skill or investigate an unfamiliar topic. If a passion develops, that student now has a new hobby! Bright Lights camps offer a wide variety of camp topics, with something of interest for almost every student. Campers
NEW! Half-Day Preschool Options
are impacted through the activities and/or design-based learning used in most of the camps. This dynamic approach has students actively explore real-world problems and challenges them to use skills such as communication, collaboration and problem-solving that will help foster deeper learning and understanding of their chosen area of interest. The STEAM-infused, hands-on content engages students on many levels and allows for exploration in a fun and safe environment.
Sun Valley Lanes
No child wants to be cooped up, inside all summer! Kids learn best through play and hands on experiences especially, during the warm months of summer, where the days can be long. Bowling, cornhole, Lucky Putt and laser tag at Sun Valley Lanes & Games boosts coordination, teamwork and confidence, keeping kids active and building important life skills.
Engaging, energetic alternatives work wonders to keep children off of their screens, all while keeping them happy and active. Long lazy days can lead to inactivity, so regular and fun exercise keep kids energized and ready for back-to-school success. They will be having so much fun there won’t be time for scrolling. Try their free cornhole game or their high-tech laser tag that will keep kids moving, laughing and having fun.
Summer schedules are more open and flexible, allowing parents and their kids to enjoy fun activities together. Sun Valley Lanes & Games is a perfect summer outing for the whole family, keeping kids moving even indoors when the summer sun is a little too hot. Finances are at the core of every business and often present the biggest challenges. Estimating income is not as easy as it seems, as many business owners tend to overestimate income and underestimate expenses. It’s better to take a conservative approach, ensuring you have enough cash to start up. Many say it takes three years for a business to turn a profit. Having a solid business plan is essential, as it helps keep your business on track and guides its success.
“A professional can ensure all startup steps are handled correctly. People know employees need to be paid, but they may not know how to file payroll taxes or reports,” Robert explains. “Setting up a separate checking account for the business is another often overlooked detail. This is where an accountant can help ensure everything is set up properly, both for tax purposes and legal protection.”
Cruise & Associates thrives on knowing your business is successful because of what they taught you. They aim to provide education that benefits you throughout your business journey.
“Cruise & Associates doesn’t just want to help you start your business. We want to educate you to be a better business owner. We realize

Get Rid of Winter and Make Room for Spring
As spring arrives, homeowners eagerly prepare their lawns for the warmer months ahead. A well-maintained lawn not only enhances curb appeal but also creates a healthy outdoor space for relaxation and activities. Regular lawn care is essential, and TDK Lawn Care offers a range of professional services to keep lawns lush, green, and thriving throughout the growing season.
Mowing is one of the most fundamental aspects of lawn maintenance. TDK Lawn Care provides weekly mowing services, ensuring lawns are consistently trimmed at the optimal height to promote healthy growth. Their mowing schedule runs from April through October, adapting to weather conditions as needed. Keeping a regular mowing routine helps prevent weeds, promotes even growth, and maintains a clean and polished look.
Fertilization is another crucial component of a healthy lawn. TDK Lawn Care follows a comprehensive fertilization schedule tailored to Nebraska’s climate, beginning in April with crabgrass control. Throughout the season, targeted applications combat broadleaf weeds, strengthen root systems, and provide essential nutrients. Grub control is added in July to prevent damage from lawn-feeding insects, while a fall weed-and-feed treatment helps maintain a strong, resilient lawn.
Aeration is another beneficial service, especially for Nebraska’s clayheavy soils. By perforating the soil, aeration allows water, oxygen, and nutrients to penetrate deep into the roots, improving the lawn’s overall health. Lawns with high foot traffic, standing water issues, or excessive thatch particularly benefit from this process.
Over-seeding is also an effective way to restore thinning or patchy lawns. TDK Lawn Care provides professional over-seeding services with high-quality, drought-resistant tall fescue grass seed to enhance lawn density and durability. With expert care and a strategic approach, TDK Lawn Care helps homeowners achieve beautiful, vibrant lawns each spring and beyond.

This seems to go without saying, and yet, many seniors are caught off guard when facing unexpected changes that come up later in life.
Seniors and their families may suddenly find themselves facing new shifts in housing, health and more with no plan in place. Local businesses throughout Lincoln are here to help ease their fears and worries surrounding these unplanned life changes, so that seniors and their loved ones never feel alone on their journey.
Prepare with Traditions Health
While most falls aren’t serious, one in five falls leads to painful problems like broken bones or even head injuries. Injuries from falls can also lead a person into a long recovery period and can affect many aspects of their day-to-day life, including how they get around in their home, cook or bathe.
It’s important to protect your loved ones who may be at a higher risk of falls due to their health problems or other issues. For example, a person may be at an increased risk of falling if they have:
• Balance or walking problems
• Foot problems or lower body weakness
• Medications that affect their balance
• Tripping hazards in their home
• Vision issues
Additionally, if someone falls once, their chance of doing so again doubles. To further complicate matters, they sometimes get so scared of falling again, that they become less active—which can lead them to become weaker which, unfortunately, puts them at even greater risk.
The good news? Proactive physical therapy can help older adults build strength, improve balance, and feel steadier on their feet; all with the goal of helping them stay healthy and safe as they age.
Even if someone’s risk of falling is fairly low, it’s best to be proactive by taking some simple preventive measures, including:
• Getting annual hearing and vision checks. Be sure to update eyeglass prescriptions and invest in hearing aids if needed.
• Help your family member stay active and strong. In addition to walking, it’s critical to engage in activities that will help maintain balance, strength, and flexibility. Look into local classes at a community or fitness center suitable for older adults. Or ask your home health provider for exercises they can do at home.
• Improve home safety. From better lighting throughout the house
to grab bars and non-slip mats in the bathrooms, there’s a lot you can do as a caregiver to help.

If a resident is living in Independent Living, there may be a discussion to possibly move this person to Assisted Living for the additional help. If the senior is still living independently at home and is in need of extra help, a person would start with having a discussion with their family physician. There are many home health agencies that provide extra care, although a physician’s order is needed for this. Start by assessing the specific needs of your loved one and consulting with healthcare professionals who can guide you through the options and support available.
Legacy has always been a leader in their industry. When you become a part of the Legacy Retirement Communities Family, it is all yours for the asking.
Old Cheney Rehab Knows How to
Help
Life is full of unexpected changes, and for senior citizens, unplanned events such as falls, injuries, or sudden health concerns can be particularly challenging. When a senior experiences an accident or illness, the road to recovery may feel overwhelming. However, with the right care, support and rehabilitation, it is possible to regain strength, restore independence and maintain a high quality of life.
One of the most common and serious concerns for seniors is fallrelated injuries. Due to brittle bones and reduced mobility, falls can lead to fractures, hospital stays, and extended recovery periods. Many seniors struggle to regain their previous level of function, especially if they experience pain, limited movement, or complications

from the initial injury. In many cases, the cause of the fall whether it be an infection, confusion, or a change in heart rhythm—must also be addressed to prevent future incidents.
At Old Cheney Rehabilitation, seniors receive comprehensive care and therapy services to help them recover from unplanned health changes. The facility offers short-term rehabilitation, including physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as 24/7 skilled nursing care for those who require additional medical support. Services such as wound care, IV therapy and tube feeding management ensure that patients receive the highest level of care under the supervision of experienced medical professionals.
For seniors looking to prevent falls and maintain strength, daily physical activity is essential. Simple movements such as walking around the house, going outdoors, and following a prescribed therapy routine can help improve mobility and reduce the risk of future falls. Regular medical checkups are also crucial in identifying underlying health conditions that could contribute to falls or other unexpected health issues.
For families suddenly faced with the need for additional care, knowing where to start can be difficult. Consulting a doctor or local placement agency can provide valuable guidance on finding the right rehabilitation or care facility. Old Cheney Rehabilitation is dedicated to helping seniors regain strength and independence, with a focus on restoring their ability to return home whenever possible. Outpatient therapy services are also available for those who wish to continue their recovery with familiar therapists. While change can be difficult, seniors should remember that they are not alone. Professional caregivers and rehabilitation specialists are available to provide the compassionate support and expert care needed to navigate these transitions successfully. Asking for help is the first step toward recovery, and with the right resources in place, seniors can continue to live strong, fulfilling lives.

In 1996, Ahroma Coffee founder, Charlotte Ralston’s husband took a sabbatical from his job to see if they could manage living on the business (R.U. Nuts Co) they were building. With five children in the home, it felt like a big risk, but they were working long hours to keep up with both his full time job and their growing company. Shortly after he quit his day job, they were introduced to the idea of roasting their own brand of coffee. Small batch roasters were rare, and Charlotte didn’t even drink coffee! Being willing to learn and with a lot of research (before google!) Ahroma Specialty Coffee was born. Charlotte recruited Mike to be their roast master, a job he embraced with much enthusiasm.
After testing friends and family with all kinds of flavors, they launched into grocery stores with the desire to “bring the coffeehouse to your house.” Ahroma coffee is still roasted fresh and delivered to the grocery stores each week so you can enjoy a delicious and fresh cup at home.
Nestled in the heart of Lincoln, Nebraska, YOUniq Health stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment—a psychiatric and mental health clinic where compassion meets innovation. From menu development, and free beginning barista training, to all the syrups, sauces, chai, and smoothie products a café may need, Ahroma is a major wholesale distributor in the region. Still only roasting “specialty grade” which is the top 5% of all coffee grown, Charlotte now drinks coffee! Anyone who wants to carry our coffee, can contact us a sales@ runutsco.com for products and services, and our whole line of items can be ordered at www.ahromacoffee.com.

Nuts was chosen as a fun, easy to remember name, with no expectations that the business would actually grow to what it is today, or she probably would have picked something different! R.U. Nuts stands for Ralston Unlimited Nuts Company and is a regional wholesale snack food distributor of bulk and packaged nuts, candy, gourmet chocolate, dried fruit, trail mixes and roasts Ahroma Specialty coffee.
R. U. Nuts Company
With the help of her husband and growing family of five sons, the business that started in Charlotte’s dining room moved to their garage, then a mini storage where they also began roasting coffee in small batches under the Ahroma Specialty Coffee label. Eventually they built a warehouse where they added another small batch roaster to support their growing base of coffee shop customers. Since then, they’ve added on to make room for additional packaging equipment and inventory for custom packing and labeling.

Our bulk products are available at Super Saver and Russ’s markets, or see our complete line at www.runutsco.com or call (402) 475-5282.
