My Two Cents on Entrepreneurship

Did you know, based on the latest U.S. data, approximately 40% of all businesses in the United States are women-owned? In recent years, the number of successful women-owned businesses has drastically increased – and that number won’t decline anytime soon.

Our Women-Owned Businesses special feature story is a testament to the accomplishments of our community, and is how we celebrate female success. We love to highlight local women who take risks and act as role models in our community. They deserve recognition!

As a female entrepreneur myself, it’s incredible to see the diverse perspectives and unique ideas that surround me morph into female entrepreneurship that has an impactful voice. With the number of women-owned businesses growing in our community as well as everywhere else in the world, our voices will continue to be heard. We have so much to bring to the table and I am so proud of all the women on this business journey with me! We have come a long way, and still have a long way to go. Let’s keep pushing and keep succeeding!

It takes courage to start your own business venture without knowing how successful it will be. No matter what industry you are entering, what age you start your business at or what gender you are, I am proud of you for taking the leap into entrepreneurship. Nothing makes me happier than seeing our local businesses succeed, and I hope Strictly Business can be part of your journey to success!

One of my favorite quotes relating to entrepreneurship is by Martha Stewart. She once said, “Build your business success around something that you love – something that is inherently and endlessly interesting to you.” I love the reminder to keep pushing because it’s something that I want to do and something that I love to do. I think that all entrepreneurs should love what they do, and I think that the most successful ones are the ones that wake up excited to build their business. As Albert Schweitzer said, "Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."

One final component to success that I want you to think about is the importance of your business team for the success of your business. As business owners, we lean on and rely on our team to be successful (and sane), which is why I like to surround myself with a trusted, loyal team that believes in my business just as much as I do.

This month, in addition to highlighting female entrepreneurs, we are shifting our focus towards the holiday season – particularly holiday party planning for businesses. Building a business is hard work, both for the entrepreneur and their employees. What better way to celebrate the hard work you’ve done than by throwing a holiday party? Holiday parties are great ways for employees to connect, let loose and have fun, while also supporting other local businesses throughout the party journey. It’s a great way to end the year on a high note!

They also have a weekly portfolio assignment aimed to provide career education and exploration. Students have the option of taking SENCAP courses online or faceto-face. In addition, SCC is waiving 65% of the student tuition and fees to reward their commitment and dedication to prepare for a career or post-secondary education.

Nebraska LTC Pharmacy Offering Flu Shots

Nebraska LTC Pharmacy recommends getting your flu shot early this October. Though big box pharmacies start offering flu shots in August, mid-September and early October are the best times to get your flu shot. Flu shots are most effective when taken before flu season starts, but not too early in the fall. If you get your flu shot too early, it will most likely wear off before flu season is over.

Nebraska LTC Pharmacy was created to fill a need in the community for a pharmacy that did more than just count pills and slap labels. Their goal is to continue to offer the “small town” level of customer service while providing the highest level of care for their patients. There are no automated systems or punching in prescription numbers – just great personal care. Nebraska LTC Pharmacy wants to help you with your medications and preserve your independence. As a locally owned company dedicated to providing great personal care, Nebraska LTC Pharmacy strives to provide individualized patient care that sets them apart from chain stores and pharmacies. They don’t just care about your medication, they care about you. To learn more, visit www.neltcpharmacy.com or call the Lincoln office at (402) 328-0231.

Strictly Business Raises Over $30K for DomestiPUPS at 11th Annual Party in the Garden

Strictly Business is thrilled to announce that their 11th annual Party in the Garden Fundraiser, which was held on September 8, set a new gross record by raising more than $30,000 for Domesti-PUPS! It’s Open Enrollment Time!

Open Enrollment on Healthcare.gov begins November 1and continues through January 15, 2024. This is the time for individuals and families that purchase their own health insurance to review their options for the upcoming year.

It's wise that you update your Healthcare. gov application and make your plan selection for 2024. If you don’t do this, Healthcare.gov will select your 2024 coverage for you and it may or may not be the right fit for you. The licensed agents at ComPro have been assisting clients with their Healthcare.gov enrollments since it began in 2013 and can help you with this process.

Here are some important items to know regarding Open Enrollment in 2024:

• There will be four companies offering individual health plans through Healthcare.gov in Nebraska for 2024: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, Oscar, Ambetter and Medica. Having this many options from which to choose can be overwhelming. Working with a licensed agent that is experienced with Healthcare.gov can help you more easily navigate these options.

• Some good news for Open Enrollment! There will now be more standardized options offered. And each health insurance company will be limited to the number of plans it can offer at the bronze, silver, and gold levels.

• Through July 31, 2024, Medicaid will be winding down its COVIDera expansion. You or someone you know may need help choosing a new health plan because Medicaid coverage is ending. One of our licensed agents can assist with this during Open Enrollment.

Those who retire before becoming eligible for Medicare can choose to continue as a COBRA enrollee in their employer plan or they can enroll in Healthcare.gov. Open Enrollment is the right time to consider other options that may be better for you in 2024 than COBRA.

A policy through the Marketplace meets all the requirements of the Affordable Care Act and will always cover pre-existing medical conditions, preventive care, mental health and maternity.

For more information or to make an appointment, please call (402) 488-5100 or visit www.comproins.com. ComPro offers health plans for Individuals, Medicare and Employee Benefits.

TONI STAR CITY SIX

Meet Toni Rupe, President at Junior Achievement of Lincoln.

Tell us a little about your business. - Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization that’s purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. I break that down even further to say, we utilize community partners to provide real world examples to students on how to navigate life during the various stages from buying a home, starting an investment portfolio, landing your first job, filing your first tax return and pretty much every other thing we encounter as we age.

How did you get started in the business? - I was a JA kid growing up in the Kansas City Metropolitan area – I can remember going to Exchange City and learning how to write a check and how to manage my paycheck. There were many times in my life where I reflected upon the financial literacy education I received and often wished someone sat me down to teach me how to be an adult. I want to help change the narrative of financial literacy so it’s not such a scary, number focused term, financial literacy truly is life skills and topics that we will all have to learn sooner or later. Why not learn it now while are brains are in the habit of learning and developing?

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - For me, readjusting after COVID was extremely hard. I was ready for a change and ultimately decided to move to Junior Achievement as their Vice President of Operations. It was difficult to leave some of my projects that I had poured my heart and soul into but ultimately, I knew I was made for more.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?Becoming the President at Junior Achievement. It was never something I had considered but when the opportunity to apply came up, I felt like I had to apply. Eight months later, I am so thankful I believed in myself and hired an amazing team to elevate our work.

Tell us a little about your family. - My husband, Adam and I, have been married for eight years and have two wild boys, Atlas and Archer. They are high energy, hilarious and incredibly bright. We live in Ceresco and love family golf cart rides and attending community events.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - After living in Kansas for 22 years, the decision to move to Lincoln was the perfect opportunity for me to learn who I am without the influence or reminder of who I thought I was. It was during this time that I learned what was important to me and that it’s ok to unlearn things from your past that no longer serve you.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - I love family golf cart rides around Ceresco that take forever because we run into friends and neighbors. I also love to laugh more than anything in the world so finding moments to create joy and laughter with friends, family, and strangers fills my bucket.

Who inspires you? - My kids. I am always thinking about how I can make them proud, give them a life with diverse experiences, great learning opportunities and a fair shot at being amazing citizens. I often think about how creative, intuitive and open minded they are at their young ages and use that as a catalyst to free my brain from any constraints so I can think freely and creatively.

What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? - Piedmont Bistro – I love to go there with family and friends! My go to order is a glass of Clean Slate Riesling and the Spinach Gouda Dip!

KYLE STAR CITY SIX

Meet Kyle Gandee, a Mechanical Engineer at Farris Engineering.

Tell us a little about your business. - Farris Engineering is a MEP design firm headquartered in Omaha, but I work in our Sidney, NE/Sterling, CO satellite office. In our Sidney/Sterling office, we specialize mostly in healthcare and education projects. We have worked on projects throughout the country but mostly serve the Western Nebraska and Eastern Colorado regions. Being from small towns, our office is uniquely equipped to design for the needs of the rural communities that surround us.

How did you get started in the business? - Like most 18 year olds, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I went off to college. I decided to major in engineering and go to Colorado School of Mines, but only because I knew that I had a better chance of getting into medical school with an engineering degree, rather than some other degree. But once I began my classes, I quickly realized that engineering was the correct path for me.

Once I graduated, I wanted to move back closer to home – which is the northeastern Colorado area. Luckily for me, I found an MEP engineering firm just 20 minutes away from where I grew up. During my interview, I found out that the firm specializes mostly in healthcare projects. This was a great, full circle moment for me. Although I decided to become an engineer instead pursuing medical school, I would still be able to help the medical community, just in a different way.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - One of the biggest challenges I have faced professionally is to bring design services to rural communities. Most design firms are from larger cities and therefore focus mostly on those areas. It has been a goal of mine since moving back to Northeastern Colorado to reach out to local communities to let them know that there are resources nearby, should they ever be needed. Rural communities often feel like they are forgotten about, and I have been working to make sure they know there is always help close by.

Tell us a little about your family. - In 2018, I decided I wanted to find a career back in the Northeastern Colorado area to be closer to friends and family. My wife (then girlfriend) and I moved back and tied the knot in 2020. We now have two beautiful daughters: Josephine, or Josie, is 18 months old and Elaina is seven months old. What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - On my days off, I prefer to get outside. As most married men know, I have a list of honey-dos that never ends. Currently I am working on building a chicken coup in our backyard and rebuilding the fence surrounding our house. I also love to play golf. Anytime I have time I can be found at our local golf club playing a quick nine holes or working on my shots at the driving range. For a weekend getaway, the family and I will make a trip up to our family cabin in Grand Lake, CO where we spend most of our time fishing for lake and rainbow trout.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - My favorite quote is ‘Stop and Smell the Roses.’ It is extremely easy to focus on what is right around the corner, whether that be career aspirations, future plans or just the upcoming weekend. I try to make a concerted effort to focus on, and be thankful for, each day/moment as it is happening.

If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - Office: (308) 203-2222 ext. 417; Cell: (970) 520-1086; kgandee@farris-usa.com.

FNIC

Meet Vagas Mathiesen, a Sales Executive at FNIC.

Tell us a little about your business. - FNIC provides creative risk management and financial security solutions to our clients through the knowledge of our employees of which I focus primarily on trucking/ transportation and commercial agriculture risks. Those industries tend to be “my kind of people” and I enjoy not only helping them with their business, but getting to know them on a personal level. I’ve had many “clients” that have turned into lifetime friends. It’s just a really good fit for me to do business in that sector.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - I really enjoy spending time out in the field hunting/fishing/camping with friends and family. It’s nice to get off the grid every once in a while and spend time in the wild. When you are out in the middle of no man’s land or walking in two feet of snow, you tend to have conversations that you wouldn’t normally have in an office setting.

Getting to know how a client or colleague thinks outside of the business setting is great. It builds a relationship that is different than a normal working one and I feel it helps you understand people and their business decisions better.

Who inspires you? - My kids by far! It’s fun to watching them grow as they meet and tackle new daily challenges. It makes you realize that the little things still matter in life. I think that really translates into business. The little things still matter. Often times our industry, like

past or present, who would it be? - It would no doubt have to be Muhammad Ali. He accomplished so many things in the ring and even more out of it. It would be so interesting to know what he was thinking while he was going through all the trials and tribulations that he did. His mental approach to things was so different than anyone else. It seemed like he was playing chess when everyone else was playing checkers.

LINCOLN DEMOLTION AND EXCAVATION

Meet Connor Paul, Foreman at Lincoln Demolition and Excavation.

Tell us about your business. - Lincoln Demolition & Excavation (LDE) is an up-and-coming demolition and excavation business based right here in Lincoln. We specialize in the following core services:

• Interior & Exterior Demolition

• Concrete Removal & Replacement

• Grading & Drainage Solutions

• Excavation and Trenching

• Land Clearing

• Parking Lot/Driveway Maintenance & Repair

How did you get started in the business? - I started with the company about two and a half years ago as a field laborer. Since then, I was promoted to the company foreman and assist heavily with our marketing and advertising. Prior to starting with the company, I did have quite a bit of experience in this industry from working on a farm with my father and grandfather since I was about seven years old.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - The biggest challenge I’ve faced professionally is learning to communicate my vision of the best way to approach a project to other employees and customers. During my time as foreman for LDE, I’ve had the opportunity to hone those skills and be better equipped to provide that vision to our employees and customers.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?I think my most important achievement so far would be being allowed to become a Foreman for this great company. It has provided so many life lessons and built skills I never thought I would learn in my lifetime. What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - One of the biggest turning points I would say is accepting a job with Jake. I have worked many jobs in my life, from mechanics, to farming, to TV and Radio production and retail, but never could find exactly what I was looking for, and that caused a lot of financial stress. As well as not being happy in the positions that I was in. After starting with Jake, I have found a company that I am proud to work for, I enjoy coming into work, and work hard to help build and push the company towards our goals.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - I have many hobbies, and I am not sure if I can narrow it down to one favorite thing, but I would say that traveling to new places, even if only 30 minutes away, is one of my favorites, as well as golfing any chance I get.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? - I went to college for media, with a focus in radio broadcasting and video production. During that time, I had my own weekly radio show, provided LIVE Play by Play commentary for the University Volleyball team, started a small YouTube channel that I still run today, as well as made ads and short videos online. Media creation is something that I am highly passionate and never want to have to give up, and thanks to LDE and Jake, I can continue creating media for the company, and for myself every day.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - Passionate.

American Heart Association Announces Damar Hamlin PSA as National Ambassador

As professional football returns to stadiums across the country, Damar Hamlin is speaking out to encourage fans everywhere to be ready in a cardiac emergency. Hamlin, professional football player in the National Football League (NFL) and national ambassador for the American Heart Association’s Nation of Lifesavers™ movement which launched earlier this year, is featured in the first of new series of public service announcements. Following the Buffalo Bills safety’s cardiac arrest during Monday Night Football on January 2, his commitment to adding lifesavers to the chain of survival where fans live, work and play is the spark that ignited the American Heart Association’s Nation of Lifesavers™.

In the new public service announcement (PSA) released in September, Hamlin speaks to the simple mission of the Nation of Lifesavers – to educate and prepare teens and adults to be confident to save a life in a cardiac emergency. The American Heart Association is the worldwide leader in resuscitation science, education and training and publishes the official guidelines for CPR. With nearly three out of four cardiac arrests outside of the hospital occurring in homes, knowing how to perform CPR is critically important.

The American Heart Association’s mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. To achieve this, they work by driving equitable health impact in our communities. For more information, visit www.heart.org.

Joann’s deep love for the beauty of nature that surrounds her stems from the many places she has lived. She loves walks and long talks with her family. She is amazed by simple things in life, like butterflies, that are often overlooked in a normal day.

Twelve boys live in the home with a 24/7 structured routine of individual, group and family therapies to address their treatment goals. The average length of stay is eight to 10 months.

Your gift to the Warm Coats campaign will help each of these boys pick out their own winter coat, boots, scarf, hat, gloves and a hoodie. Funds also help provide other basic needs for these teens during the winter months. Mourning Hope Grief Center and International Quilt Museum to Host Common Threads Fundraiser October 27

Mourning Hope Grief Center and the International Quilt Museum are hosting their second Annual Common Threads Fundraiser Friday, October 27, at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the International Quilt Museum. This year’s Common Threads event will transport guests back to the 1970s through funky threads, groovy tunes and far-out hors d’oeuvres. Guests will sip martinis and enjoy the comedic stylings of T. Marni Vos before hitting the dance floor. Proceeds from all ticket sales will be split equally to sustain youth programming offered by both organizations. For more information, visit mourninghope.org/supportus/commonthreads.html.

At the Mourning Hope Grief Center, creating commemorative quilt blocks is a core activity families complete during their time in grief support groups. The International Quilt Museum is home to the world’s largest publicly held quilt collection, several of which hold cultural significance as mourning, burial and remembrance quilts. These two organizations share this thread of connectedness while serving their missions, and their upcoming joint fundraiser will celebrate the programs and services each offers to the community.

The Mourning Hope Grief Center exists to companion children, adults and families before and after a death loss. By offering support groups, education, resources and referrals at no cost to participants, Mourning Hope’s programs ensure a compassionate response for all bereaved Nebraskans. Heartland

The Heartland Cancer Foundation (HCF) is seeking event sponsors for their ninth annual Mardi Gras Gala.

The event will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln. Attendees will include physicians, medical and oncology staff, philanthropists, cancer survivors and community members.

The Heartland Cancer Foundation believes no cancer patient should fall behind on treatment because they struggle to afford their everyday expenses. HCF’s signature Mardi Gras Gala is an exciting themed evening featuring keynote speakers, a premium auction, prizes and entertainment – all for a great cause! As HCF’s largest fundraiser of the year, the gala’s success is directly tied to the number of cancer patients they are able to help throughout the year. This is a great opportunity for businesses of all sizes to get involved, support the cancer community and be present at a prestigious event. Branched Oak Observatory to Host Annular Eclipse October 14

Branched Oak Observatory is hosting their 2023 Annular Eclipse Saturday, October 14. Travel to Oregon, Nevada, Utah, NE Arizona, New Mexico or Texas to see the whole "ring of fire" effect, or stay right here in Nebraska to see a Partial Solar Eclipse. Safe solar viewing eclipse glasses will be available from Branched Oak Observatory; more giveaway information to come. This event makes for a wonderful "opening act" for the Total Solar Eclipse of April 8, 2024.

An Annular (not to be confused with the word “Annual”) Solar Eclipse happens when the New Moon obscures the disc of the Sun (like it does during a Total Eclipse), but takes place when the Moon's orbit is in or near apogee. Because of this, the angular size of the Moon is too small to completely cover the Sun and instead reveals a bright ring called an Annulus during greatest obscuration. To see this "ring of fire," you must be within the “Path of Annularity” as it passes across the Earth. If you are outside this path, you will witness a Partial Solar Eclipse of varying degrees.

As with ANY solar viewing, DO NOT observe the Sun without the proper eye protection. Also, unlike a Total Solar eclipse, there is NO time during an Annular Eclipse when it is safe to remove your eye protection.

For more details about Branched Oak Observatory and upcoming events, visit facebook.com/branchedoakobservatory of theboo.org.

Region V Services Rebrands as Apace

Region V Services, Nebraska's premier developmental disability (I/DD) service provider, is excited to announce its new name: Apace. The change became effective October 1.

“Rebranding to Apace marks an exciting milestone in our journey," said Matt Kasik, CEO of Apace. "This name encapsulates our dedication to improving the lives of those we support. With the same enthusiastic team and enhanced focus, we are poised to make an even greater difference in the lives of those we serve."

The word 'apace' means advancing at the same rate as something and can be used as a synonym of alongside. "The word 'apace' defines our work," Kasik said. "We live alongside the individuals we support. We meet them where they are and provide the support needed to reach their goals."

Another motive behind this change was to address the confusion arising from the similarly named organization, Region V Systems. While Apace and Region V Systems are governed by the same board and are situated in the same geographical area, they operate independently, catering to different service needs. It is important to note Region V Systems will remain unchanged.

Apace will continue the 50-year legacy Region V Services has built by offering new experiences and opportunities to enrich life for people with disabilities. Seeing people as people, Apace connects individuals with disabilities to the resources they need to control (and celebrate) everyday life.

For more information about Apace, visit GoApace.com or call (402) 471-6400.

Community Action Seeking Community Support for New Head Start Center Construction

If you’ve driven past the intersection of K Street and Antelope Valley Parkway recently, you may have seen signs of construction at Community Action’s Head Start center. Renovations are transforming the space formerly used for adult education (including most recently as Kaplan University) into one built for Lincoln’s youngest children and their families to thrive.

Community Action has been providing early childhood education services through Head Start since the 1960s and serves 197 children at the K Street center. Until now, the agency has never had a permanent home for these education services.

“Tremendous support from our community has made it possible for us to initiate this project, which will ensure Lincoln’s youngest residents and their families can access the support they need to thrive,” said Heather Loughman, Community Action CEO. “Renovations are underway, but we need community support to complete this campaign and project, which will strengthen early childhood education in Lincoln for generations to come.”

Renovations include building new classrooms with easily accessible restrooms and handwashing sinks, indoor and outdoor play areas and spaces for supportive services such as adult literacy classes, financial well-being courses, nutrition education and more offered to Head Start participants and other neighbors.

Of the $3.5 million Home for Head Start campaign goal, 80% has so far been raised.

CASA for Lancaster County Announces October Volunteer Training Schedule

CASA for Lancaster County is seeking volunteers. A training session for new volunteers is set to begin on October 10. This is a six-week training course held on Tuesday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. All training sessions will be held at CASA for Lancaster County, 1141 H St., STE C on the third floor.

CASA volunteers are trained community advocates who are assigned to abused/neglected children who are in Juvenile Court through no fault of their own. This is done by interviewing all interested and concerned parties to determine the facts and reviewing all records and documents.

CASA volunteers get to know the child and they communicate the child’s wishes to the judge. CASA volunteers are required to attend approximately 30 hours of pre-service training and 12 hours of in-service (continuing education) annually and are supervised by a CASA staff person.

In 2022, CASA served 296 children, trained 40 new volunteers and had 127 volunteers assigned to children. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer or about CASA for Lancaster County, go to casa4lancaster.org.

Getting Involved

Being involved with elected officials on local policies is not just a civic duty; it's a powerful way to shape the community you live in and has a direct impact on issues that matter to you. When you engage with your local elected officials and actively participate in local policy discussions, you help make our community and the business climate better for future generations.

Why is this so important?

1. Local policies affect our day-to-day life more directly than federal or state policies. They govern education, public safety, transportation, zoning. All their decisions on these issues have an impact on the taxes we pay. By getting involved, you can help influence these policies to align with your vision for your community.

2. By engaging with our local officials we can help them to have a better understanding of local issues. By engaging with them, you ensure that your concerns are heard and addressed.

3. Involvement in local issues allows us to hold our elected officials accountable and hear the issues facing citizens in our community.

4. If you're passionate about making our community a better place to live, being involved with local officials is a direct way to drive positive change.

5. You can share your unique expertise and insights on specific issues, and it can be particularly valuable to share your personal knowledge to help in the decision-making process.

6. Local policies have a direct impact on your taxes and how your tax dollars are spent. Engaging with local officials shares your view on how you believe your tax dollars should be spent efficiently and effectively to benefit the community.

7. Participating in local policy discussions is a fundamental aspect of democracy. It's a way to exercise our rights and fulfill your civic duty as a responsible and engaged citizen.

Over the course of the past few months, elected officials in our community have been discussing their budget for the upcoming year. Many times, there is low turnout to voice observations, agreement and objections on the budget being presented, while our tax dollars are funding the budgets.

Being involved with elected officials on local policies is not just an option; it's a responsibility that comes with the benefits of living in a democratic society. Your engagement can lead to positive changes in our community, ensure that your voice is heard and contribute to a more responsive local government. By actively participating in local policy discussions, you become an agent of change and help build a stronger, more vibrant community now and in the future.

LIBA – through our members like you – have been actively engaged in local policies for decades. We regularly meet with elected officials to speak about how issues facing them will have an impact on our members, their employees, and the greater community. There are times when we agree and times when we disagree. Yet we must continue to be involved in our community for the future of our city.

from the ground

Business started in 1987 with Calvin and Richard Krueger, the father son duo. They began their career with the development of the notable Trade Center, located in central Lincoln at 56th  and Old Cheney. Rick and Calvin created the power team that continues to serve their community’s needs for new development. Whether it be commercial, residential, or multi-family.

COMMERCIAL – Krueger Development can build a project from the ground up. Krueger serves as a one stop shop for commercial clients with its in-house drafting and design team and private construction crew. Build to own or build to lease with the Krueger team.

RESIDENTIAL – Navigating the residential housing market can be hard. When you don’t know where to start or what builder to work with – contact Krueger Development. Krueger sells residential lots directly to the buyer or builder. If you haven’t found the perfect builder, they can introduce you to a few.

APARTMENTS – Apartment living can be the sweet life, especially at Krueger properties. Amenities available at Krueger owned apartments include underground parking, valet trash pickup at your apartment door, year round indoor/outdoor pool access, and guest suite rentals for when you have visitors.

NEW HEADQUARTERS LOCATION

Krueger Development recently relocated their headquarters to the growing Woodlands at Yankee Hill development between 70th and 84th off Yankee Hill. Booming with an existing residential neighborhood, up-and-coming commercial businesses and a brand-new apartment community, this new location is ideal for their future.

Just to the west of their new headquarters, Krueger Development is in the process of building six new commercial office buildings. These buildings will account for approximately 37,000 square feet containing suites starting at 1,500-square-foot. Call today for more information on price and timing.

Downtown Hidden Gems: Delco Dave’s Steaks

Hidden in the alleyway behind Sartor Hamann, Delco Dave’s Steaks Brings

Authentic Cheesesteaks to Lincoln.

For the past year, David Leonard has had one main goal: to find a Philly cheesesteak that reminded him of home.

“I’d rather do one thing really, really good, than ten things not so good,” Leonard said. There’s only one thing on the menu at Delco Dave’s: the Philly cheesesteak. Delco Dave’s also serves Birch Beer, a soda made from birch bark, similar to root beer. Birch Beer is a Pennsylvania staple and pairs perfectly with a cheesesteak.

Delco Dave’s Philly cheesesteak is unlike any other options in Lincoln; every ingredient and every detail goes towards creating an authentic Philadelphia experience. Leonard sources his rolls from a bakery called Amoroso’s – one of the oldest bakeries in Philadelphia. Many Philly cheesesteak vendors from Philadelphia use this bakery for their buns. He uses locally sourced beef, specifically ribeye, which he cuts himself. He also uses Cheez Whiz but is looking to expand his options.

“A Philly cheesesteak has one of the ‘Big Three,’” Leonard said, “You got white American, provolone and Cheez Whiz. I plan to have all three.”

Toppings include salted onions, mushrooms and cherry peppers. Not green peppers, cherry peppers – something Leonard is adamant about.

“Everyone out here wants to put green peppers on a cheesesteak like I’m not putting green peppers on a cheesesteak,” Leonard said. “If you want peppers on a cheesesteak, it's cherry peppers. I’m not anti-pepper, some people say that, like oh ‘he doesn’t put peppers on his cheesesteak,’ I just put the right peppers on there,” Leonard said. “[Green peppers] just taste bad, they ruin everything!”

Delco Dave’s opened the doors of its current location on May 12. Leonard shares his establishment with Jeremy Smith, owner of SoCal Taco Shop. Both businesses operate in the same kitchen. Delco Dave’s is located behind, and connected to Gravity. You can access the storefront either through Gravity or through the alleyway behind Sartor Hamann. Gravity is open Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Though Delco Dave’s Steaks is hidden at the moment, Leonard has many ideas for signage in the near future, but until then he leans on word of mouth.

“We together are coming up with some signage and collaborations,” Leonard said. “We’re getting a sign that says ‘Hey come get your cheesesteaks and tacos here in the alley.’”

Delco Dave’s Steaks is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; on Fridays, Delco Dave’s Steaks always has its doors open by happy hour.

Boosting our Local Economy: A Big Week for Lincoln

Lincoln has a long-standing tradition of hosting incredible events, but this August, we elevated that commitment to outstanding new heights – shattering records, uniting our community and boosting our local economy, proving that we can accomplish amazing things together.

After months of detailed planning, hard work and valued collaboration, our Lincoln Chamber of Commerce team proudly hosted the 2023 Guardians of Freedom Airshow on August 26-27 in partnership with the 155th Air Refueling Wing of the Nebraska National Guard, the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, the Lincoln Airport Authority and the City of Lincoln. Headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, this year’s celebration of the Nebraska Military Department and our flying forces welcomed 340,000 guests, making the 2023 Guardians of Freedom Airshow the largest attendance at a spectator event in our city’s history.

In addition to greatly exceeding the previous record, set 12 years ago when 250,000 people attended the September 2011 airshow, this this year’s two-day, family-friendly event offered a truly unforgettable experience for attendees. Each day featured an opening ceremony honoring the 30-year partnership between the Czech Republic’s military and the Nebraska National Guard, followed by unique performers, stunts, exhibits and displays, including the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper demo team, U.S. Marine Corps C-130J Super Hercules – Fat Albert and the U.S. Navy’s F-35 C Lightning II demo team, a career fair and STEM experience hosted by the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development and more.

We are a community that understands our greatest successes come from partnerships. This remarkable event was made possible by our valued airshow partners and hosts, as well as members of the Lincoln business community who graciously sponsored and supported the event. Additionally, hundreds of local volunteers, Lincoln Fire and Rescue, Lincoln Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol and other organizations ensured this year’s event ran safely and smoothly throughout the weekend. We extend our gratitude to everyone who played a role in ensuring the success of the airshow, which had an incredibly significant economic benefit for all of Lincoln.

Continuing the impactful streak of supporting our local economy, the days surrounding the Guardians of Freedom airshow are also cause for celebration. Within just one week, we also broke another record with the largest-ever crowd for a women’s sporting event on Nebraska Volleyball Day, welcomed competitors from all 50 states, 14 countries and four continents for Gravel Worlds and packed Pinnacle Bank Arena with fans for its 10th anniversary with the Zach Bryan concert. Combined, the events that comprised this “big week in Lincoln” enhanced the visibility of our community, significantly impacted Lincoln’s economy and supported local tourism, generating valuable business for our hotels, restaurants, bars and retailers.

What a great week to be a part of and an incredible time to call Lincoln home.

Whole Health W

hole body and mind health encompasses a wide variety of activities that help you find balance in your work, social and private life. To achieve balance in life, start by identifying your priorities and setting realistic goals. Is it more important to dedicate time to family and friends, to your hobbies and passions or to your career? How much time can you devote to each before you become overwhelmed?

While finding a balance that meets your needs mentally, remember that it is also important to meet your physical needs. Make sure to nourish your body with healthy foods, stay active with regular exercise and rest when you need to recharge. Managing stress is also key, so it is important to find healthy ways to relax and unwind.

Finding a balance in your life that benefits your whole body and mind health isn’t something that happens overnight, nor is it something you can achieve alone. Holistic health looks different for everyone, and the key is finding what it looks like for you. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help on your journey. Whether talking with friends and family or the local professionals here in Lincoln, everyone has your best interest in mind.

62 Strictly Business OCTOBER 2023 #PrintProudDigitalSmart

From the Bottom Up

Our whole body health starts with our toes and ends with the tops of our heads. Every little detail about our bodies matters. In order for our body to feel good, it must be equipped to tackle everything we face in a day – including the shoes we wear as we do it.

At Lincoln Running Co., they understand the importance of a great pair of shoes perfectly fitted to your feet. Not only does the right pair of shoes set your body up for success, but your mind as well. To them, holistic health is a run every day where you see the sunrise or the sunset. There is nothing like going for a run in nature for your whole body and mind health.

“Whole body mind and health is an easy one for Lincoln Running Co.,” shared Ann Ringlein. “Just lace up, step out the door, feel the sun on your skin, seek out those moments of "awe" and feel the sense of accomplishment of completing that loop on the trail, or to simply breathe in some fresh air.”

Having great relationships with the medical professionals in Lincoln and surrounding areas, Lincoln Running Co. knows feet better than anyone else around – and they know how important it is to share that knowledge with the community. Locally owned and operated, Lincoln Running Co. is committed to helping the community find the right shoes to start their holistic health journey.

Coping with the Pressure of Everyday Life

We all experience stress from time to time, but did you know just how much it can affect both your mind and body? Stress isn't just a mental hassle; it takes a toll on your body too. When stress hits, it can make you anxious, down or moody, mess with your memory and sleep and even lead to harmful habits or thoughts. Your body isn't spared either, as stress can speed up your heart, upset your stomach, weaken your immune system, cause aches and pains and mess with your weight, skin and severe cases, your reproductive health.

The good news is you can fight stress by adopting healthy habits like exercise and relaxation techniques, and by seeking support from friends or professionals. A balanced, healthy lifestyle acts as your shield against the effects of stress, reminding you that you have the power to combat its impact on both your mind and body. One professional that comes highly recommended for your mental health is Daring Minds Therapy, though you’ll find that your physical health is also likely to improve after a few visits.

Daring Minds Therapy understands that the expectations of us in everyday life can apply significant pressure to our mental and physical health, and they want to help break down our surroundings into smaller goals that aren’t so daunting.

“Our mind and body communicate with us daily as to what is healthy and what is not,” shared Owner Maureen Deryke. “If you’re looking to improve your overall health and feel like you might need some help to get there, start by setting some small goals in your daily life. Give yourself time to figure out what works for you, going at your own pace. What works great for one of your friends might not work for you, and that’s okay.”

Daring Minds Therapy encourages you to pick one or two things that feel achievable at first before moving on to trying other ideas. Change doesn’t happen overnight, and you have to be patient with yourself and the process. Listen to your mind and body as you approach your health holistically – your journey is purely your own.

Prioritizing Your Skin

Skin health is vital because it serves as the body’s protective barrier against external threats, regulates temperature and enables sensory perception. It plays a role in synthesizing essential nutrients like vitamin D, retains moisture, aids in wound healing and significantly impacts one’s aesthetic appearance and self-esteem. Maintaining healthy skin helps prevent skin diseases and contributes to overall psychological wellbeing, highlighting its importance not just for physical health but also for a person’s confidence and quality of life.

If you have been putting off prioritizing the skin you’re in, try getting help from Skin Experts. Skin Experts is adding a modern touch to the skincare and facial treatment industry that goes beyond the surface level. By combining the most advanced technologies with revolutionary skincare using ingredients for proven results, their experts are here to create long-term change you can really see.

“Holistic health and self-care are not just a trend – they’re a paradigm shift in living a balanced life. And we, at Skin Experts, are a huge proponent of self-care. For us, this philosophy goes beyond mere skin deep; our facials serve as an opportunity to those seeking holistic health, promoting relaxation and stress reduction while rejuvenating the skin. We believe in the importance of taking time for yourself to nourish and protect your skin, while also having a quiet moment to rest, restore and relax,” shared Chief Marketing Officer Shaya Mulcahy.

Skin Experts combines technology from Europe and Asia with carefully curated ingredients that work synergistically to help skin look fuller, fresher and younger. The skin care includes natural ingredients such as rose extract, hyaluronic acid, probiotics, microalgae, bakuchiol and hemp seed oil. These ingredients create an uplifting natural

The products are always free of harmful sulfates, phthalates, toxins, artificial colors, GMOs and artificial fragrance.

Releasing Pent-Up Stress

A great partner to nutrition, physical fitness and releasing some increased anxiety is getting a massage. A massage can significantly benefit holistic health by addressing physical, mental and emotional well-being. Physically, it promotes relaxation, reduces muscle tension, improves circulation and alleviates pain and stiffness. This physical relaxation can extend to mental and emotional well-being, reducing stress and anxiety while promoting a sense of calm and relaxation. The power of touch during a massage can also stimulate the release of endorphins, enhancing mood and reducing feelings of depression. Additionally, it fosters a mind-body connection, promoting self-awareness and mindfulness. Overall, a massage is a holistic approach to wellness that can improve physical comfort, mental clarity, emotional balance and overall health and vitality.

According to Erin McLenon, Owner of 5 Elements Massage & Spa, “Massages are a great many things to a great many people. They are pain control for some and preventive healthcare for others. Some just need to take care of themselves for a day, where others need a routine once a month to turn off their brains and relax. Other times, it is an alternative way to manage acute issues from daily life. Depending on the issue, clients can choose fix-it or relaxation work, whatever works best for them.”

5 Elements Massage & Spa offers a variety of services, including Swedish and deep-tissue massages, prenatal, heated bamboo, sports, hot stone, reflexology, fire cupping, salt or sugar scrubs, chocolate wraps and more. Therapeutic touch, when professionally applied in one of its many established forms, has the power to restore and activate the healing potential present within each individual. The certified massage therapists at 5 Elements restore mobility to those suffering with physical ailments and help clients overcome debilitating stress related conditions.

Whole body and mind health is a lifelong journey that involves making conscious choices to promote physical, mental and emotional well-being. It requires you to be in-tune with yourself. Consulting with healthcare professionals and mental health experts when needed and to tailor strategies to your individual needs and circumstances will help you prioritize holistic health, leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life. Remember, each person's path is unique, and it’s up to you to start carving it. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the local professionals for help along the way – they want to see you stop surviving and start thriving!

It’s always better to have the planning done early so you don’t have to worry about it as your party draws nearer. You’ll want to research their wines to choose the ones that will best fit your goals, and then book the venue early if needed. You never know what they’ll have up their sleeve, so reach out early to plan your best party yet!

Something for Everyone

Whether your business is small or large, finding activities that all of your employees and clients will enjoy isn’t an easy task. Everyone has their own interests and abilities, with some people preferring conversation-driven parties and others preferring to have fun and let loose. Regardless of what your business wants out of your holiday party, Sun Valley Lanes & Games is sure to have something for everyone – and then some. To ensure that you get every offering you want, book your event earlier rather than later.

“We believe that variety is the spice of life, and offer everything you can think of to keep you entertained,” shared Event Coordinator Jen Miseno. “We have something for everyone.”

Offering an arcade, bowling, hyperbowling, cornhole, laser tag, lucky putt mini golf and sand volleyball, as well as food and drinks, you won’t have to worry about if those attending your party are having fun. Sun Valley Lanes & Games will customize your party to fit your needs and your budget, relieving some of the stress of party planning. With them hosting your party, all you’ll have to worry about is your guest list and how they plan to get to and from the party. The party itself will be a massive success!

Holiday on Wheels

Some of the most fun company parties are those that happen unconventionally. To throw a party that no one will forget, and that everyone will enjoy, consider booking a party bus for your holiday gathering. Party buses provide a unique party atmosphere on wheels, complete with music, lights and a great time. At Tailored Dreams Party Buses , they provide a dream holiday experience that lives up to party bus expectations.

With available dates filling up a year in advance, they recommend scheduling your holiday party now. There is no guarantee that they will have buses available if you wait, and they don’t want you to miss out. Though they can’t guarantee availability, they can guarantee a great time for everyone, regardless of who is on your guest list.

“We know how to throw a party, and love hearing about the success afterwards,” shared Owner DeeDee Loomis. “We are known for great service and our ability to please every crowd.”

Their dependable, luxury fleet of party buses can accommodate 26-45 passengers. Buses include the Mirage, a 35 passenger pink party bus; the Oasis Party Bus, which holds 26 passengers; the Odyssey, a 28 passenger party bus; the Fantasy, a 35 passenger black party bus; the Disco, a 35 passenger gray party bus and the

Executive, a 45 passenger party bus. All 35 passenger party buses are wheelchair accessible.

Safe and Convenient Transportation

Transportation for holiday parties is a vital component of ensuring that guests can enjoy the festivities safely and conveniently. Whether your party is held at a venue or your office, it’s essential to consider the needs of your guests. To encourage responsible drinking, promote ridesharing services, designated drivers or shuttle services for larger gatherings. Providing clear information about parking and public transportation demonstrates your commitment to their safety and ability to enjoy everything your party has to offer.

With Nebraska having some nasty winter weather, taking measures to address potential hazards and delays is crucial. By prioritizing transportation logistics, you can create an environment where guests can focus on the joy of the holiday season while minimizing transportation-related concerns.

Creating a comprehensive transportation plan for your holiday party involves clear communication with your guests well in advance – which means starting the holiday party planning process now. Ensure that everyone who will be attending has all the necessary information, such as addresses, contact numbers and transportation schedules. For guests who may be coming from similar locations, encourage carpooling as an eco-friendly and cost-effective option. Not only does carpooling reduce the number of vehicles on the road, but it also allows friends and colleagues to share the journey and start having fun before the party begins.

You should also explore specialized event transportation services provided by local companies. These services are designed for occasions like holiday parties, offering group transportation to and from the event. They often provide convenience, comfort and a sense of luxury, which can elevate the overall experience for your guests.

A Unique Gift

The gift of safety extends far beyond material possessions. It embodies the act of providing security, protection and peace of mind to someone, whether that someone be a loved one, a friend or a coworker. The gift of safety can take various forms, such as providing a safe home, ensuring access to healthcare, offering a secure location or, as D.E. Guns prefers it, the protection of a firearm backed by classes teaching you how to best use it for your safety as well as the safety of others.

D.E. Guns offers several classes that introduce people to self-defense, handgun operation and safety and concealed carry. If you know someone that is interested in using firearms for protection, paying for one of these classes as a gift could prove to be invaluable. Plus, you won’t have to worry about your gift being a surprise – no one is going to guess this!

The Ideal Location

Though some businesses prefer to host their holiday parties at their office to be cost-effective and keep party planning simple, office parties aren’t feasible for all of us. One, office spaces often have limited room, making it difficult to accommodate a large number of guests comfortably. Two, the office environment is not conducive to creating a relaxed and festive atmosphere. The presence of work-related elements can make it challenging for employees to fully unwind and enjoy themselves. Some employees may feel uncomfortable with the idea of socializing in the same space where they work, as it blurs the line between their personal and professional lives. Lastly, office parties may have fewer entertainment options compared to dedicated venues, which often offer amenities like dance floors, stages for performances and specialized catering services. To say the least, our vote is to host your company’s holiday party outside of the office.

Whether entertaining clients or employees at your holiday party, the Talon Room comes as a highly rated venue. The Talon Room strives to provide a stress-free holiday party planning experience, which means that if you book them now, you won’t have to think about your party until it’s time to show up and enjoy it. By offering catering, bar service, decoration packages and venue setup and teardown, the Talon Room makes holiday parties fun for guests and easy for businesses, so long as your party isn’t bigger than 250 people – what a party that would be!

Owner Matthew Rogge firmly believes in exceptional customer service and unforgettable events. According to him, “We set it up, you make it a party! Getting out of the office for your holiday party means letting loose and having fun, so take advantage of everything we have to offer!”

The Talon Room is the ideal spot to host a party involving casino games, tailgate activities, live music, bingo, trivia or whatever other activities your guests are interested in. They can make all the activities holiday themed, so you won’t have to worry about holiday spirit. If you want a low-key party centered on talking, they can host for that too!

Firehouse Subs makes party catering a breeze, streamlining the ordering process to ensure you receive all the food you need and want. Firehouse Subs is a restaurant chain with a passion for hearty and flavorful food, heartfelt service and public safety. With the ability to serve large groups of people efficiently, they are ideal for holiday parties – where we know everyone shows up just for the free, amazing food.

“Our Lincoln Nebraska family owned and operated Firehouse Subs locations take great pride in providing the best quality (and quantity) of subs! We use the best meats and cheeses for our guests. We can serve any size party, from 10 to 500 people! Parties, meetings and anything in between!” shared Owner Tom Mejstrik.

Don’t Forget the Dessert

Desserts at a holiday party are a cherished finale, adding an extra layer of warmth and delight to the festivities. They’re not just sweets; they’re a way to make the party special, cozy, fun and get guests in the holiday spirit. These sweet treats bring people together and create a sense of joy unlike any other.

In Nebraska, some of the most common holiday sweets include kolaches, poppy seed rolls, cherry pie, pumpkin pie, sugar cookies, caramel corn and homemade fudge – all of which are traditional favorites because of how delicious they are. However, for many of us that have tried baking, making these desserts to their full potential isn’t easy. If you really want to wow your holiday party guests, consider hiring a professional baker to ensure your sweets are incredible.

If you are planning a larger party, local bakery Sweet Things by Marcy offers cupcakes and southern tea cakes by the dozen. Owner Marcy Haas encourages you to reach out in advance to ensure that all the desserts are fresh and ready for your party. Quality is of utmost importance to her, and quality dessert takes time.

“My bakery specializes in authentic southern-style desserts. Our desserts are made from scratch, with real butter, real vanilla and real love,” said Marcy. “My mother taught me how to bake basic southern staples such as biscuits, cornbread, tea cakes and sweet potato pie. I eventually played around with making pound cakes, cookies and other things, and put my 40+ years of baking experience to the test every day.”

Marcy has a wide variety of flavors and dessert options to choose from, many of which aren’t the most common. While it’s important to have some traditional desserts at your party, don’t hesitate to stray from the holiday norms. Marcy is happy to bake a dessert that will be on your guests’ minds for weeks.

Planning a holiday party involves a series of thoughtful steps aimed at creating a festive and memorable event. Though planning an unforgettable party can be stressful, the professionals of Lincoln are here to help you every step of the way. From choosing a venue, a menu and a theme to choosing entertainment and transportation services, Lincoln professionals know how to plan the best holiday party your business has ever experienced.

RESPONSIBLE REMODELING

Remodeling is a great way to spruce up your home or office on a budget and in a short amount of time. Renovation can undoubtedly take you one step closer to your dream space. Plus, a well-maintained and updated space can increase its value, giving you a return on your investment if and when the time comes to move to a different location. From a financial standpoint, remodeling is a great idea.

When remodeling, it is important to ask those making the improvements how they are going to save you money and make every dollar you spend count. If you’re curious about how the local professionals of Lincoln can save you money on your next remodeling project, keep reading.

Strategic Remodeling

Before you begin remodeling your home, we recommend having your home inspected. Performing a home inspection before remodeling is crucial to ensure a solid foundation for the project. It helps identify any underlying structural issues, safety concerns or code violations that may not be immediately apparent, allowing homeowners and contractors to address them proactively. This early assessment can prevent costly surprises and delays during the renovation process, ensuring that the project proceeds smoothly, safely and in compliance with regulations.

One home inspection business that comes highly recommended is King’s Home Inspections. Owned by Randy King, an InterNACHI Certified Master Inspector with over 25 years in business, King’s Home Inspections has inspected over 8,000 homes of all shapes and sizes in southeast Nebraska and is more than qualified to help guide your remodeling projects.

“Components in a house have a lifespan, and I can identify the age of components and help you formulate a game plan on when to plan to remodel, replace or upgrade key components of your home,” stated Randy.

A home inspection, while thorough and comprehensive in assessing the visible and readily accessible components of a property, is typically non-invasive. Home inspectors do not dismantle structures or open up walls to examine hidden issues. Instead, they rely on visual inspections, testing and their expertise to evaluate the condition of a home's visible components. While this approach provides valuable insights into a property's overall condition, it may not uncover concealed problems or defects that are not immediately visible. For more invasive assessments or deeper investigations, specialized inspections or consultations with contractors and experts may be necessary.

Paint is Cheaper

Whether you are looking to remain at your current house for years to come or you are looking to move in the near future, a new paint job can do wonders to save you money down the line. A fresh coat of paint can not only protect your home’s exterior from weather damage and enhance curb appeal, but also give your home’s interior a new look and feel without the need for expensive renovations – both of which increase the value of your home.

Paint has the power to completely transform a space. With just a fresh coat of paint, you can change the mood, style and overall ambiance of a room. Whether wanting to create a cozy and warm atmosphere or a bright and vibrant one, the color you choose to paint a space makes a huge impact. At Walter’s Painting Inc., they specialize in making your space look brand new – sometimes you can’t even tell it’s the same space!

“Instead of buying a new home, we get to change the whole look without a major remodel,” shared Painter Laura S. “A fresh coat of paint is almost as good as a new house, and paint is cheaper!”

Walter’s Painting Inc. strives to save you money by completing projects in an efficient manner at fair rates. They only use highquality products and qualified painting professionals that will ensure you get what you pay for. With minimal disruption to your daily routine, Walter’s Painting Inc. completes painting projects on time and on budget.

your space. With the vast array of flooring options available, you can find the flooring that will best suit your needs.

Hardwood flooring brings timeless elegance and can withstand years of use. Laminate offers versatility and affordability, mimicking the appearance of more expensive materials. Tile, in various materials, provides durability and is perfect for high traffic areas. Vinyl, with its waterproof properties, suits kitchens and bathrooms well. Soft and comfortable carpet, on the other hand, is ideal for bedrooms and living spaces. For a sustainable touch, bamboo or cork flooring can be both environmentally friendly and stylish. For a more modern look, polished concrete floors endure years of use and offer an industrial vibe.

With Underfoot Flooring Solutions, updating your floors won’t be a concern. Underfoot Flooring Solutions offers a wide variety of flooring choices for homeowners to choose from, including materials in tile, vinyl, linoleum, laminate, engineered hardwood, LVP, LVT, carpeting and stone – and they’ll help you choose the right flooring for your space and unique needs/vision. Taking into consideration your budget, lifestyle and home aesthetics, Underfoot Flooring Solutions will guide you through the remodeling process, relieving as much stress from your shoulders as possible. Their knowledgeable team is available to help you with any questions or concerns you have about their flooring selection, and have a proven track record of installing flooring that you’ll love.

Collaboration is Key

Collaboration is integral to the success of a remodeling project. Combining your vision with the expertise of professionals, including architects, contractors and designers, not only enhances the project’s aesthetics and functionality, but also ensures efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Collaboration goes hand in hand with communication, ensuring that everyone is aligned with the project goals, timelines and any changes that arise during the course of the project. This open dialogue helps prevent misunderstandings and reduces the likelihood of costly mistakes while also enhancing the overall remodeling experience.

Striving for excellent communication and collaboration, Kitchen Tune-Up is the business to work with to make the vision of your dream kitchen become a reality. If you don’t know where to start, or aren't entirely sure what you want your kitchen to look like, their professionals are more than happy to help guide you by providing thoughtful insight into current trends and designs that would be aesthetically pleasing in your space, and by answering any questions you have.

Adding Character

Tiles possess the remarkable ability to infuse a space with uniqueness and character. Through a diverse array of materials, colors, patterns and textures, tile provides an avenue for creativity that can truly make your space shine. The option for customization and tile artistry allows you to strategically use tiles on accent walls or floors to contribute to a unique aesthetic with character that speaks volumes. Regardless of your personality or end goal, there is always a pattern or tile design to match it.

Using tile as a remodeling material will help you add style and functionality to your space. For access to the finest selection of tile and stone from respected manufacturers from all over the world, reach out to Maven Tile & Stone. This hands-on tile-design studio has samples available in their showroom and design center to help guide your remodeling process.

“We’re more than just a tile supplier,” shared owner Lizett Nissenson “We have the products and expertise needed for every aspect of your home design, and we are here to make your process easier.” Maven Tile & Stone strives to collaborate with customers to choose the tile that will best fit their needs and desires. Not only will their services help bring character to your home, but sell you on the remodeling process by making it a breeze.

Value of Homeowner Education

Knowing all of your remodeling needs and options is crucial to a successful remodeling project that remains within your budget and timeframe. Many homeowners aren’t well-versed in various products such as flooring and finishing design elements – and they aren’t easy to learn about without a professional helping you along the way. To

set you up for success, CT Construction places emphasis on educating their clients about the products they offer in relevance to their focus on remodels pertaining to bathrooms, kitchens and basements.

“We talk about the differences between products, such as the different types of flooring. LVP is cheaper than tile, but that doesn’t mean it is any less durable or suited for a certain lifestyle,” explained Owner Chris Taylor. “The key to saving people money is helping them understand the ins and outs of being a homeowner.”

To further help clients with remodeling, CT Construction offers customized finance plans and completes projects as efficiently as possible. By having all materials on site before starting the project, they interfere with your life as little as possible, allowing you to get back to the things that matter most. This also helps mitigate unforeseen problems that might arise during the renovation process. In a generation where time is money, CT Construction strives to help customers thrive as much as possible.

Reducing Costs with Water-Usage Efficiency

Striving for water-usage efficiency is not only environmentally responsible, but also a smart way to cut costs in both residential and commercial settings. By promptly fixing leaks, installing low-flow fixtures and adopting smart irrigation systems, you can significantly reduce your water usage, having a positive impact on the environment and your water bill.

To cut down on your water usage, Hunt Irrigation Inc., The Water Smart Company, recommends improving your existing irrigation system with Wi-Fi controllers, pressure-regulated sprinklers and drip zones. Utilizing rain sensors can also reduce your water consumption.

To prevent future issues stemming from the water system in place at your commercial or residential property, Hunt Irrigation recommends proactively preventing backflow by having their operators annually test your backflow to ensure everything is operating correctly. Backflow prevention is not really understood by most, but is an

important component of water conservation. Water backflow is the undesirable reversal of the flow of water in a plumbing system, and can result from an outdated irrigation system.

Not only can upgrading and updating your water systems help prevent future issues, but immediately impact your water usage and water bill – something we like to call a win-win situation. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the experts at Hunt Irrigation to start planning improvements today.

Streamlined Lighting

Efficient lighting systems, such as LEDs, convert energy into visible light while minimizing energy waste and heat generation, meaning that your space will be illuminated better than ever and your electrical bill won’t increase as a result. Additionally, energy-efficient lighting options often come with longer lifespans, reducing the frequency of replacements and maintenance. By embracing modern lighting technologies and strategies like smart controls, you can enjoy well-lit spaces that are both economically and environmentally sustainable.

Over the years, lighting has become much more than changing out burnt light bulbs; it is truly an art that can drastically change the way your home functions. The LED lighting industry is continuously evolving, helping you conserve energy and save money.

“We like to help our clients save money in any way we can, not just as a result of the product we install,” shared ABC Electric Project Manager Jon Eicher. “Our clients only pay for the labor and material necessary for their projects.”

ABC Electric, keeping up with the newest trends in the lighting industry, has been seeing a growing trend of energy efficient LED lighting and the versatility of the lighting control packages coming together. This combination allows for aesthetically pleasing lighting displays with optimal lighting efficiency.

Customizing Your Space

When remodeling your home or office, custom furniture can be a transformative touch that elevates your space to a new level of style and functionality. Tailored to your exact specifications, custom furniture pieces seamlessly integrate with your design vision, optimizing both form and function. Enhancing Your Curb Appeal

Enhancing curb appeal is a key aspect of remodeling that can transform the exterior of your home. You can start sprucing the exterior of your home up by updating the siding or roofing, and by repairing any rotten or damaged areas.

Archer Exteriors , a local business specializing in renovations and new home builds, has noticed a high demand for fiber cement siding as it not only boosts your curb appeal, but protects the interior of your house as well. A Simple Glow-Up

Interior paint plays a pivotal role in defining the ambiance and aesthetics of a living space. It is more than just a protective coating; it’s a means of self-expression and design. The color you choose can transform a room’s mood, making it cozy with warm tones or refreshing with cool hues. The finish, whether matte, satin or glossy, impacts the texture and light reflection, further influencing the atmosphere. Beyond aesthetics, quality interior paint protects surfaces, making them more durable and easier to clean. In the past few years, many

companies have come out with amazing products that prevent scuffs, are antibacterial, are zero VOC and have many other beneficial properties.

Choosing the right paint for your remodeling needs can be difficult with so many options to choose from. It’s beneficial to ask a knowledgeable painter what kinds of products are out there that can improve the look, feel and functionality of your space, and which ones best align with your needs. For top-notch paint jobs and top-of-the-line customer service, we recommend reaching out to Remy Refinishing. Offering interior painting services, specializing in cabinet painting, Remy Refinishing strives to leave a lasting impression.

“When you invite people into your home, you want to make sure you are putting your best foot forward,” Owner Jeremy Day said. “Paint is one of the highest impact things you can do to make your space look beautiful and inviting to your friends and family.”

Paint, not only impacting the overall vibe and appeal of a room, can also be used to highlight architectural features or create focal points within a room, adding depth and interest to your interior spaces. Architectural features such as crown molding, baseboards, wainscoting or coffered ceilings can be accentuated with a contrasting paint color or finish to draw attention to their intricate details. Similarly, focal points like fireplaces, built-in bookshelves, cabinets or accent walls can be creatively highlighted.

Office Remodeling

Building owners must be flexible with their expectations, budgets and design choices when remodeling their structure, especially with the current standing of the economy. Intermittent supply chain issues are still a factor as is the increased cost of labor and materials. The changing availability of materials coupled with the tight labor market means costs can be unpredictable, which extends project durations and increases budgets. Before starting a remodeling project, it is in your best interest to ask lots of questions and plan for the unexpected.

By having alternative options ready to go for clients, who must also be able to make decisions quickly to eliminate any potential impact to their budget and schedule, AOI is able to provide cost assurance, speed and schedule reliability.

“AOI is unique because of what we offer with regard to interior renovation. Our ability to meet client needs stems from our products and services being available individually or combined as part of a holistic approach developed in close collaboration with our clients and their design teams,” shared Vice President of Business Development Patrick

Having a great office space is important for employee happiness and productivity. A well-designed and comfortable office environment fosters creativity, collaboration and innovation among employees, leading to increased efficiency and quality of work. It serves as the reflection of a company’s culture and values, which helps attract and retain top talent.

Remodeling your home offers a host of advantages. It’s a chance to customize your living space, aligning it with your unique tastes and lifestyle for improved comfort, aesthetics and functionality. Simultaneously, renovations can boost your property’s value in ways that save you money both short- and long-term. By incorporating energy-efficient upgrades, you can save on long-term utility costs. Plus, it provides an opportunity to address maintenance and safety concerns. On a more aesthetic note, remodeling breathes fresh life into your home, making you fall in love with it all over again. Regardless of what your goal with remodeling is, there are plenty of benefits that will stem from it along the way.
