Welcome J/70 World Competitors-
On behalf of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, we are looking forward to welcoming you to St. Petersburg, Florida for the 2023 J/70 World Championship.
We are looking forward to a specular event and wanted to provide you with some additional information prior to your arrival. Please be sure to checkout our event website: www.spyc.org/worlds for additional event information.
Arrival:
Teams are welcome to join us beginning October 2, 2023. Space is limited and early storage options will be prioritized based on the teams intending to practice prior to the event. (Looking for storage but not intending to practice, please contact our team for local storage suggestions.) To request pre-event storage please complete the following form.
Pre-Worlds Training event:
All competitors are invited to join us October 14/15 for a pre-worlds prep regatta hosted by the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Prior to the weekend racing. Our friends at Sail22 will be hosting a clinic for all teams to join. Priority event registration will be given to the teams who sign up for pre -event storage.
Over the next few weeks, we will be sending out additional communications to help better prepare you for your World’s experience. If we can help answer any questions, please let us know.

Situated in a bustling arts community on the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club has been a part of the sailing community for over 100 years.
We pride ourselves in creating a relaxed private club atmosphere with a warm, friendly, family-oriented environment. We offer a wide variety of social activities and our Clubs Within a Club meet a plethora of special interests for our members where they can mix and mingle.

Sailors are invited to join us at our downtown clubhouse while in the area for the event.
Dress Codes
APPROPRIATE ATTIRE is required in both Clubhouses.
Sleeved Shirts and appropriate footwear required at all times.
The Dress Code applies to children 13 years of age and older. Parents are responsible for the proper attire of children under the age of 13.
Members and their guests will be denied access and/or service if improperly attired.
DOWNTOWN CLUB AREAS
HERITAGE LOUNGE & REGATTA ROOM: Casual Dress – shorts, denim and appropriate footwear.
TIKI HUT: Casual dress, shorts, flipflops, appropriate cover-ups when outside of pool area, when requesting service from the bar, or when in surrounding seating areas.
GRILLE 1909: Resort Casual permitted – Men: collared shirts; dress slacks, shorts or dress jeans, sandals (no flipflops).
Ladies: dresses or skirts; dress pants, shorts, or dress jeans.
NOT PERMITTED IN ANY OF OUR CLUBHOUSES
T-shirts with pictures or writing that could be offensive.
Short shorts, sleepwear, cut offs.
Men are not to wear hats or caps inside either Clubhouse.
Sleeveless T-Shirts and tank tops (men).
Bare feet or just socks (appropriate footwear always required).
Swimwear– prohibited are thongs, revealing suits or inappropriate cover-ups.
COMMODORE DINING ROOM: Jackets required after 6:00 p.m. (ties optional); Ladies dress appropriate for the occasion.
COMMODORE LOUNGE: Business Casual – slacks or khakis, dress shirt or blouse, open-collar or polo shirt, optional tie or seasonal sport coat; a dress or skirt at knee-length or below, a tailored blazer, knit shirt or sweater, and loafers or dress shoes that cover all or most of the foot.

Pre- Worlds Event Storage
Competitors are welcomed to join us beginning October 2 for pre-event practice and storage.
Storage will be $50 a day ($350 a week) and will be limited.
Pre-registration is required.
Vehicle Parking
There is no regatta vehicle parking available at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club or Sailing Center. A map with our recommended parking locations can be found by Clicking Here.
