Dear Members,

A Note From Ray

As you know, our golf course is one of the crown jewels of Starmount, and we’re excited to announce that a major renovation will soon begin to elevate its beauty, functionality, and overall experience for everyone

While we recognize that closing the course during this period may be inconvenient, these essential upgrades will ensure we maintain the high standards that make us proud. We’re confident the results will be well worth the wait, and we can’t wait to unveil the finished product.

In the meantime, I encourage you to explore our many other amenities. Whether it’s tennis, pickleball, fitness classes, dining, or simply enjoying time with fellow members, Starmount has plenty to offer while the golf course is under renovation.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated on the progress, and we’re excited to share this journey with you.

On a special note, I’m thrilled to announce Amanda Barthel as our October Employee of the Month. Amanda has been a dedicated personal trainer at the club for the past ten years, and she’s admirably served twice as Interim Wellness Director Her professionalism and team spirit make her an invaluable asset to Starmount Please join me in congratulating Amanda on this well-deserved recognition!

Lastly, with the holiday season approaching, now is the perfect time to plan your celebrations or corporate meetings. Whether you’re hosting a milestone event or an intimate gathering, our clubhouse and expert culinary team will provide the perfect setting. And don’t forget, as a member, you enjoy 50% off the facility rental fee! For more information, reach out to our Events and Catering Director, Emily Frazier, at 336-358-3949.

As always, your feedback is important to us. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your thoughts, whether you have praises to share or areas where we can improve.

I look forward to seeing you around the club!

All the best,

Dear Fellow Starmount Members,

President’s Note

I hope you had a chance to read Ray Armini’s recent email about the status of our planned capital projects We are in a position to move forward rapidly as soon as approvals are received from various Greensboro City permitting departments

Ray’s message also referred to arrangements with other golf clubs that have agreed to provide reciprocal privileges during our course renovations. Thanks to Savio Nazareth and his professional staff for their efforts. Additional options have been added to the list in the past few days. Full details are coming soon.

Here are some items Starmount’s Board of Directors is focused on:

Scott Henegar is Chair of the Finance Committee. He and the rest of the Committee are working closely with Ray and Tonia Vaughn to monitor revenues and expenses of our operations. Their top priority is to stay on target to meet our budget projections as we proceed with construction projects. Matt Kibble and members of the Golf Committee are going to announce some creative alternatives for playing on our golf course for the remainder of the year.

Candice Horvath is leading the Facilities Master Planning Committee. She and other Committee members have spent the last few months interviewing consultants that specialize in helping private clubs with planning and design During September’s meeting, the Board of Directors approved the Committee’s recommendation to engage The H Chambers Company to help us plan facilities updates as we celebrate Starmount’s 100th anniversary in 2030.

The Board recently approved establishing a Starmount Charitable Fund. A Donor Advised Fund will be set up through the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro. Contact me if you’d be interested in serving on a committee that will meet one or two times per year to plan fundraisers. Also, let me know if you are involved with a local charity that you consider worthy of financial support.

I am confident that the future of Starmount is bright. Soon we’ll be watching earth being moved for new Pickle Ball courts, irrigation pipes being assembled and installed, and players lining up to use new golf simulators!

See you at the club.

To join, simply call the golf shop by 2:30 pm on Thursday. Teams will be created using an ABCD format, and play will begin with a shotgun start at 5:00 pm. Our golf pros may also participate if spots are available.

After your round, stick around and enjoy $2 draft beers! The Thursdays for October are the 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st. Please note that the format for October 3rd will be a Par 3.

This event is open to the first 36 players who sign up. We look forward to seeing everyone out there!

Tailgate Par 3 Saturdays

We're delighted to announce two special Tailgate Par 3 Saturdays on October 12th and October 26th! The entire course will be transformed into a fun Par 3 layout, giving you a unique golfing experience.

After your round, join us for a festive tailgate party on the back patio to relax and enjoy good company! Be sure to sign up on the tee sheet for your spot in the shotgun start on these dates.

Mark your calendars and get ready for a great day on the course! We can't wait to see you there!

Weekday Cart Fees: $1 per Hole

We're thrilled to share that starting in October and continuing through the end of the year, we'll be introducing a new cart fee for our members! If you choose to ride in a cart during the week (Tuesday to Thursday), there will be a charge of $1 per hole played.
