Dear Members,
A Note From Ray
Spring is officially here, and we’re excited for all the activities planned for you this March! The season kicks off with the Oyster Fest on March 8th, so be sure to check our website, app, or this publication for details on all the events happening throughout the month.
We’re also thrilled to introduce a new Dart League starting in April! This league is open to all members, with space for 16 teams We anticipate full participation, so gather your team and sign up in March to secure your spot League play begins Thursday, April 10th, and runs for four weeks through mid-May. To add to the fun, Chef Dicey will be serving a special pub menu, and a member signature bar will be available. Don’t miss out on this fun new addition to our club activities!
Mark your calendar for our Annual Member Meeting on Wednesday, March 19th, at 6:00 pm. Please RSVP through the website, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Our golf course and pickleball projects are progressing right on schedule. With warmer temperatures finally here, we’re preparing to pour asphalt for the pickleball courts, followed by the construction of a retaining wall. Once complete, our court contractor will level, paint, and install perimeter fencing, with the goal of having you playing on the new courts by April! Meanwhile, Kris Spence and his team are making great strides with the golf course renovations. Over the next few weeks, you’ll notice the holes surrounding the clubhouse taking shape. Stay tuned for another video update coming in March!
Finally, I’m delighted to recognize Yesenia Josefsberg as our March Employee of the Month. For the past three years, Yesenia has been a dedicated server at Bistro 59, consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to go above and beyond The next time you see her at the club, please join me in congratulating her!
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Your membership makes our club a special place, and I look forward to seeing you around soon!

To My Fellow Starmount Members,
President’s Note
Can you believe we are entering the month of March! This year is moving very quickly, as are the activities at Starmount.
Let us take advantage of the activities set for March and bring the family out as well as your guests. (Let us remember that we are all ambassadors of the club to grow membership).
The activity on the golf course and pickleball courts is full speed ahead; we are moving on schedule as I write this note To be better informed about what is being done on the golf course, please review the Club Improvement tab on our website You will be able to understand (1) our new irrigation system (2) Definitions of the “Ultradwarf TifEagle” bermudagrass that will be used on our greens. (3) “Tiftuf” grass that will be used on the fairways and rough. (4) Our state-of-the-art bunker system with capillary concrete liner systems improves drainage and reduces washouts.
We have just completed a successful All-Committee meeting. I would like to recognize and thank all our committee members for their work and commitment to Starmount Forest Country Club. The committees are set and ready for work.
As warm weather is around the corner, I look forward to seeing the migration to the outside activities available at the club.
Thanks to all Starmount Forest members for your understanding as we move through the construction stages of our project and deal with dust and mud in the parking lots. This, too, shall pass as we build our state-of-the-art pickleball courts and golf course.
I hope to see you around the clubhouse
John Barbee Club President

Savio’s Short Game Tips
Mastering your short game can be the key to lowering your score, and it all starts with the fundamentals. Whether you're chipping, pitching, or just trying to refine your technique, these simple tips can help you improve your control, consistency, and accuracy around the green. Here’s how you can fine-tune your short game and elevate your golf skills.
1. Soften Your Grip
Many golfers grip too tightly, but for chipping, keep your hands soft aim for a 4-5 on a 1-10 scale. This reduces tension in your arms and wrists, allowing for a smoother swing.
2. Allow Your Body to Rotate
For solid contact, rotate your body during the swing. Start by swinging the club back and trigger your downswing by moving your right knee toward your left, freeing up your body for a smooth rotation.
3. Find the Right Tempo
A common mistake is swinging too fast. For short shots, relax your grip, take a deep breath, and focus on a smooth, controlled swing with gentle acceleration.
4. Take Advantage of the Bounce
For pitch shots, press your hands forward like with a chip shot. This helps the club’s bounce work, keeping it from getting stuck in the grass.
5. Focus on Your Left Arm
Control your chipping and pitching with your left arm. Let it lead the swing, striking the ball with the center of the clubface for more accuracy and consistency.

BEERS OF THE MONTH
Live Oak Brewing Del Alle TX
Pre-War Pils
$4 a can
A 1912 German-American recipe, Pre-War Pils is brewed with 35% corn grits German immigrant brewers crafted this style to replicate the beers from their homeland, using high-protein American malts. During Prohibition, these were the beers that thirsty drinkers craved—"Pre-War" referring to the era before both Prohibition and World War I. This is a true representation of early American lager brewing, crafted in the traditional style by the original German-American brewers.

WinesoftheMonth
White Wine
Maz Caz Blanc, Rhone Valley France
$27 a bottle
This wine is a blend of 51% Roussanne and 49% Grenache Blanc, showcasing vibrant fruit flavors Grown in rocky soil, the typically fuller-bodied Rhone varietals of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne are kept lean and bright. By leaving it un-oaked, the wine retains its freshness, with crisp citrus notes and a subtle touch of brine, influenced by the Mediterranean climate of Nîmes. A hint of white pepper and lemon zest adds a delicate spice to the profile.
Red Wine
Maz Caz Rough, Rhone Valley France
$29 a bottle
The Grenache Blanc and Roussanne in this blend originate from the sun-drenched foothills of the Southwestern Rhône Valley, where the warm Mediterranean climate shapes their vibrant character. Fermented in stainless steel with natural yeast and left unoaked, this wine stays true to its purest form—fresh, lively, and uncorrupted. Caz is crafted to embody simplicity and authenticity, offering a bright, youthful expression of its terroir. Bring a few bottles to the party and experience it for yourself. GRAPES: 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre
