Dear Members,
A Note From Ray
We were thrilled with the turnout at last month’s Annual Meeting. Thank you for your participation and continued interest in our club. During the meeting, I shared that the golf course restoration project is progressing as planned and staying on track in terms of time and budget. Additionally, the Pickleball project is set to be completed in May, weather permitting.
Spring is just around the corner, and we have a variety of exciting events lined up to keep you engaged and active at the club Our new dart league kicks off this month, and Savio is organizing a simulator golf league, which will meet each Thursday evening from May through August. We encourage you to gather your teams and join in on the fun!
Another wonderful opportunity to create lasting memories with family and friends will be our Easter Holiday Buffet and Easter Egg Hunt. Be sure to check our website or this publication for more details on these events and sign up early, as space is limited.
I’m also excited to announce the conclusion of our search for a new Wellness Director. Please join me in congratulating Amanda Barthel, who has been promoted to this position. Amanda’s deep understanding of our membership and her expertise in wellness made her the ideal choice to lead the department. I’m confident that our wellness programs will continue to thrive under her leadership. Be sure to congratulate her the next time you visit the Wellness Center.
Finally, it is my great pleasure to recognize Cady Fleet as our Employee of the Month for April. Cady, who has been with us as a Bistro 59 server for nearly three years, has consistently demonstrated an exceptional can-do attitude, outstanding service, and a strong team spirit Her hard work has greatly contributed to the improved service at our dining venues Additionally, she’s a talented artist and a student at UNCG studying music. Please join me in celebrating Cady for this well-deserved recognition!
Thank you for your ongoing support of SFCC. With the arrival of spring, I look forward to seeing even more of you around the club in the coming months!
All the best,
Ray Armini, CCM, CCE General Manager/Chief Operating Officer
President’s Note
To My Fellow Starmount Members,
Welcome to Spring!! This year is really moving fast and there's a lot happening at Starmount, thanks to you
A big thank you to everyone who attended the Town Hall meeting last week It was packed with information and updates about our club.
I'm very excited about our first “Luncheon with the President” on April 9th. We'll be focusing on two main areas: Golf Activities and Pickleball updates. Please remember to reserve your spot for the luncheon through the usual channels. We might even have some fun surprises for the lucky members in attendance!
Additionally, we discussed at the Town Hall how important it is for us, as members, to sponsor new candidates who are interested in joining Starmount Forest Country Club. Let's not forget the benefits of being part of our club:
Amenities: Golf, Pickleball, Aquatics, Dining, Tennis, Fitness, and Social Events.
Programs and Activities: We cultivate a vibrant culture and strong community through creative programming and memorable experiences for all ages.
Personal Service: Our staff knows members beyond their names; they welcome you as friends and treat you like family, remembering your preferences
Networking Opportunities: Whether you are a young professional, a C-level executive, or retired, you'll find discerning professionals here.
Community: Perhaps the most important benefit is that our club fosters a sense of community. It serves as a gathering place close to home, promoting connections.
Let's all enjoy the warmer weather as we move into April. I look forward to seeing you at some of the events on our full calendar.

Golf Tips and Drills
Plan Your Practices 1
Stop by the Golf Professional Shop to schedule a lesson with one of our pros. Get personalized tips and drills to improve your swing and stay sharp throughout the season.
Warm Up Your Putting Stroke 2.
Spend 10 minutes daily practicing your putting stroke—no ball needed. Set up in your living room and make smooth, consistent strokes. Use alignment sticks or books to create a straight path and keep your putter face square at impact.
Chipping Practice for Precision 3.
Rebuild your short game by hitting simple chip shots at a towel placed 5 feet away. Focus on distance control and accuracy, aiming to land the ball on the towel This drill improves ball striking and helps you detect pulled or pushed shots.
Warm Up Your Golf Swing 4.
If you can’t make it to the range, practice swinging at home.
In your yard, garage, or open space, make 50% swings to loosen up.
Gradually increase to 75% and then full swings.
Aim for 100 practice swings a day to build muscle memory and flexibility.
Golf Stretching & Flexibility Training 5.
Kick off the season by focusing on flexibility rather than heavy lifting. Start with golf-specific stretches (10-15 minutes), then add light weights and resistance training.
Key areas to target:
✅ Core/Abs exercises for stability.
✅ Stretching routines to improve flexibility.
✅ Strength-building exercises to add power.
✅ Speed drills using the Kiser machine in the fitness center to enhance swing speed.

If nine holes are not completed in 45 minutes, the score at the final hole played stands, and any unfinished holes will be halved.
Gameplay:

Players alternate tee shots (e.g., Player A tees off on hole 1, Player B hits the second shot, Player A takes the third, etc.).
On hole 2, Player B tees off regardless of who took the last shot on hole 1.
Auto-putt will be enabled to keep the pace quick and minimize frustration.
Entry Fee: $50 per player.
Payouts: Prizes for First and Second place at the end of the season.
Don't miss out! Sign up on the Club Calendar, practice your swing, and get ready for 12 weeks of thrilling competition and great fun.

Put Some Spring in Your Step!
Spring is here! Take advantage of the season by incorporating walks into your daily routine. Make it more challenging by adding bursts of speed walking - try sprinting to the next pole, for 50 steps, or for 30-second intervals.
For a more peaceful experience, focus on your breathing - inhale through your nose, expanding your ribcage, and exhale through your mouth These simple adjustments can transform an ordinary walk into either an effective workout or a calming meditation. Whichever you choose, it's a perfect way to put some Spring in your step!
