NEW MEMBERS Welcome

Nicky and Beth Smith

EmployeeoftheMonth: KlaudeStankoski

We are pleased to announce that Klaude Stankoski is our February Employee of the Month! Klaude has been a valued member of the team for nine years, serving as the lead bartender in Bistro 59. He takes the time to get to know our members and memorizes their preferences, consistently providing top-notch service. Klaude is dependable and always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. Let’s all congratulate him on this welldeserved honor!

Dear Members,

A Note From Ray

I hope your year is off to an exciting start, just as it is here at the Club! Despite the recent stretch of frigid weather, both the golf course restoration and pickleball expansion projects remain on schedule. To keep you informed, we’ve created a monthly video update that will be shared via email and posted on our website under the “Club Improvement” tab.

As a friendly reminder, please stay off the golf course during the construction period. With ongoing work and potential hazards, your safety is our top priority. The construction crew does not anticipate pedestrians on the course, so we ask for your cooperation in avoiding these areas.

Our Food & Beverage team has planned a fantastic lineup of social events this month! We kick things off with Tropical Escape: Reggae & Rhythm Night on Saturday, February 8th, followed by Chill & Cheers on Sunday, February 23rd a complimentary event to show our appreciation for your membership Chef Dicey has also crafted a special Prix Fixe Valentine’s Day menu to help you celebrate in style Be sure to check the website or Club app for full event details and reservations

I am also delighted to announce Klaude Stankoski as our February Employee of the Month! Klaude has been an integral part of the Club for nine years as our lead bartender, always dependable and willing to lend a hand wherever needed in the Bistro 59. Please join me in congratulating him on this well-earned recognition!

Looking ahead, our Annual Membership Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19th, at 6 PM in the Ballroom. We encourage you to attend as we review 2024 year-end results and share exciting plans for 2025.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing you around the Club soon!

Warm regards,

Dear Starmount Forest Members,

President’s Note

Hello, February, and goodbye to January and the 20 to 30-degree temperatures; we have a great deal to look forward to as we progress through this year at Starmount.

We have completed our first Board meeting and finalized each of the committees. A huge “Thank You” goes out to the Starmount volunteers who have stepped up to serve on the committees. Our individual committees will meet in February The all-committee meeting will be held later this month

The Starmount golf simulator has been a great success, and the club has responded with extended hours based on popular demand. Please continue to use and enjoy the fun of playing golf courses around the country while keeping your golf swing sharp.

Activity is brisk on the golf course, and several tractors and earth movers are up and down each of the fairways. During the real cold period of January, the work was still being done as irrigation pipes were being put underground and sand traps were being cleaned to prepare for the drainage system installation.

Special Note: Please continue to remain off the course during the construction period; we do not want any injuries during this period.

Ray will be providing monthly progress updates by drone flying over the course, which will start this month. It should be fun to follow!!

I would like to ask each member to become a Starmount Ambassador and reach out to friends, neighbors, co-workers, and relatives to market Starmount Forest Country Club Offer to bring them out for a meal and visit. As you all know, we have had planned attrition in our budget, but the time is now, with your assistance, to build a “wait list”. This will help us all! We need to capture the new families coming into Greensboro who support the new businesses. Please use Jaime Duncan, our Director of Membership, she can provide great assistance.

Please enjoy Valentine’s Day and review the Focus for activities. I would enjoy visiting with you around the club.

All the Best

Tips of The Month

Off-Season Golf Preparation

When you're stuck indoors, it’s the perfect time to refine your fundamentals. Focus on your posture, grip, and make small practice swings to ensure your alignment and balance are spot on. Even if you don’t have access to a driving range during the winter months, working on these key areas indoors will help preserve your muscle memory and keep your swing on track. It’s a great way to stay sharp and ensure your body is ready when the season kicks off. Don’t forget to stretch regularly keeping your muscles loose and relaxed is essential for staying flexible and ready for when you hit the course again.

Winter Golf Readiness

When playing in colder conditions, it’s crucial to stay warm so your body can move freely. Focus on keeping your feet, hands, and neck warm. A chilly neck can trigger shivers that disrupt your swing. Opt for a jacket with a high collar to block out the wind, and layer up for maximum comfort. For the winter elements, be sure to wear thick socks, a cozy beanie, and coldweather golf gloves to maintain a solid grip. Hand warmers and waterproof golf shoes are also a must to keep your hands and feet comfortable and dry.
