IEG STUDENT AWARDS 2025: A RED CARPET CELEBRATION OF STUDENT SUCCESS
Inspire Education Group (IEG) held its highly anticipated, annual Student Awards Ceremony, celebrating the exceptional achievements of students from Peterborough and Stamford Colleges.
Imani Joseph-Obiorah, a Business T Level student, who won Stamford College Student of the Year, said, “It feels so surreal to win, I’m so grateful to my teachers and family members for the opportunities they give me!”
Rheanne Lornie, who won Peterborough College Students of the Year, was also full of praise for the award ceremony, saying, “It’s an incredible honor to be given Peterborough College student of the year, I wasn’t expecting it at all, It’s a massive privilege and I’m grateful.”

CELEBRATING THE AIR AND DEFENCE CLASS OF 2025 AT RAF CRANWELL
In a proud moment of achievement, graduates of the Air and Defence College Class of 2025 took centre stage at the iconic RAF Cranwell on Monday 16th June.
Held in the grand setting of Whittle Hall – the Main Auditorium of the world’s first Air Academy – the graduation ceremony honoured students from our Air and Defence Colleges (ADC) .
13 from Stamford College and 10 from Peterborough College crossed the stage, with friends, families and industry partners in attendance, the ceremony was a fitting tribute to the dedication, skill and ambition demonstrated by this year’s graduates.
STAMFORD COLLEGE PLUMBING APPRENTICE REACHES NATIONAL COMPETITION QUALIFIERS
Stamford College apprentice Taylor Ackroyd has reached the Qualifiers of the WorldSkills UK Plumbing Competition, a national event that showcases the best young talent in vocational skills across the country. The competition brings together students from colleges throughout the UK, each competing for a coveted place in the National Finals, set to take place later this year.
Speaking about the news, Taylor said: “Being told I reached the Qualifiers was such a good feeling, I really didn’t expect it!” He continued: “College has been great; they’ve given me the opportunities to compete in competitions like this and helped me develop skills I wouldn’t necessarily get to work on during site-based training.”
The strength of the Air and Defence College programmes lies in our powerful partnership with the Royal Air Force. These organisations play a vital role in shaping the futures of students, offering invaluable guidance, resources, and opportunities throughout their educational journey.

Taylor is currently undertaking a Level 3 Plumbing Apprenticeship with local business Complete Plumbing and Heating, gaining hands-on experience while continuing to develop his technical skills through Stamford College. His achievement highlights both his individual dedication and the strong support provided by the College’s Apprenticeship programme.

PETERBOROUGH COLLEGE SPORTS ACADEMIES HONOUR STUDENT ATHLETES AT ANNUAL PARC RESTAURANT AWARDS LUNCH
The Sports department at Peterborough College proudly celebrated the achievements of its student-athletes at the annual Sports Academies Awards Lunch, hosted once again at the College’s on-campus fine dining venue, Parcs Restaurant.
Guests enjoyed a specially prepared threecourse meal created and served by the College’s Hospitality and Catering students, offering a professional and memorable setting for the celebration.

MOTOR VEHICLE APPRENTICE PLACES THIRD IN NATIONAL HALFORDS COMPETITION
Sydney Gleeson-Greeves has achieved a remarkable third-place finish in the national Halfords Apprentice of the Year competition, standing out among over 200 apprentices nationwide.
Reflecting on the experience, Sydney said: “I never in a million years thought I’d do anything like this – especially considering I never originally wanted to be a mechanic. To come third out of 200 apprentices is just unbelievable.”

STAMFORD COLLEGE PUBLIC SERVICE STUDENTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MOROCCO
Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services students from Stamford College recently returned from a life-changing volunteering trip to Morocco, where they partnered with local charity Open Hands to support under-resourced communities.
Student Olivia Griffiths shared, “I thought Morocco was a very eyeopening experience. Volunteering with the orphans, school children, and children with disabilities taught me new skills and gave me a better understanding of how different cultures live. Open Hands was a very good organisation to go with— especially Abdul, who helped guide us every step of the way.” She also noted the enjoyment of excursions, including visits to local waterfalls and a water park.

MOTOR VEHICLE APPRENTICE SELECTED FOR EXCLUSIVE COURSE AT PIRELLI TYRE FACTORY IN CARLISLE
Sydney, one of our talented Motor Vehicle Apprentices who recently had the honour of meeting Sir Keir Starmer, was selected as one of just ten Halfords staff members to take part in a special two-day course at the Pirelli Tyre Factory in Carlisle.
A fantastic opportunity to build specialist skills and gain behind-the-scenes insight at a leading global brand.
CONGRATULATIONS TO GEORGIA HILL – BRONZE WINNER AT THE PEARSON NATIONAL TEACHING AWARDS
We are thrilled to celebrate Georgia Hill, who has been awarded the Bronze Award for Further Education Lecturer of the Year at the prestigious Pearson National Teaching Awards 2025.
Kate Michael, Head of Faculty for Service Industries, shared, “We were over the moon to hear that Georgia had received a Bronze Award for The Pearson National Teaching Awards. What truly makes Georgia exceptional is her extraordinary ability to connect with every learner. Drawing on her professional background as a prison officer, she brings invaluable real-world experience to her lessons, organising impactful contact days with emergency services and armed forces.” Kate added, “Even while managing demanding roles, Georgia remains committed to her own growth and embodies the very essence of an exceptional educator, her profound positive impact makes her a truly transformative force in education, inspiring both students and colleagues to reach their full potential.”

This much-anticipated event is a key highlight of the academic calendar, offering a moment to reflect on and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students as the academic year draws to a close.
Claire Bowes, Course Leader for Psychosocial Studies, shared: “We love to celebrate our students’ progress and achievements. This awards ceremony combines more formalised honours like ‘Best Achievement’ with informal, student-led recognitions such as ‘Funniest Classmate.’
We also take pride in spotlighting community work, reflecting our commitment to embedding citizenship across our Criminology, Psychosocial, and Sociology degrees. It’s always a highlight of the year.”
