'UNITED' ISSUE 05 I 9TH MAR
Welcome to the 5th Issue of 'United', the official Matchday Programme of Springfield United.
One of the highlights of the weekend will be our 'Overs Showdown' against Lions FC. These Showdown rounds have become a staple of SUFC Masters Pre-Season, and after the success of the most recent Showdown Round, long may they continue.
We also shine a spotlight on one of our Sponsors, Little Guy Pest Control. Make sure to have a read of this weeks sponsor spotlight and support the people who support us.
Enjoy this Issue of 'United', and make sure to get out to watch an SUFC side this weekend.

DECLAN MURPHY - FQPL 4 MEN
We welcome Annerley football club to our first home game of 2023.
G A F F A
After a tough loss on the weekend in our opening game of the campaign, it’s given us a very good review of problem areas ripe for improvement.
The boys have shown a lot of purpose and determination this week at training in response to our poor performance and has given us a hunger to bounce back. This week has also given us a great opportunity for some First Team players who missed round one with Injuries and Suspensions to return to the squad for this weekends clash.
This weekends game is the perfect opportunity to do so. We play an Annerley team ripe with experience both on and off the pitch and an extremely good work rate which will push us to perform for the full 90 minutes which I’m excited for. Another exciting feature of this game is the fact that we have never met Annerley at a Men's First Team level, something we as a club are excited for this season, as we move into a new league.
We ask all SUFC members to get down to ‘The Summit’ and support the boys in what is sure to be a blockbuster game.

With Round 1 flying by last weekend, I would like to thank the SUFC community for their awesome support, it really helped both teams push through. If you got down early for our U23s, you would have seen them start the year with a win. Samantha Maslin proving she is a threat and a valuable leader within the team as she scored a hattrick, first of many no doubt.
We then took the pitch for what was a much anticipated game against what was to be a very physical Souths United side. The ladies started with plenty of energy, really making some threatening chances, with our new signing Dani White getting her goal tally started for the season with a screamer from 30 yards out. As the game went on we refocused and Teagan Essom secured victory with our second goal, after some brilliant pressing from Chloe Butler.
This week we look forward to playing Wynnum Wolves, another new team to the competition. At training we spoke about where we could improve on our first round performance and look to implement that against wolves. I wish them the best but the best team will win and we are the best. Another week where we aim for another 3 points, if your you're up for a drive to Wynnum on Sunday I'm sure you will be in for a treat.
FQPL 4 MEN PREVIEW V TARRAGINDI
Our FQPL4 Men will be aiming to bounce back immediately following last weekends thrilling 5-3 loss to Tarragindi Tigers.
Back at ‘The Summit’ on Saturday night against Annerley FC at 6pm. Coach Declan Murphy has no doubt set the expectations with the side during the week at training and I’m sure we can expect a fired up squad.
We will however be without Rhys Phipps who received a questionable red card last week so it will be a good opportunity for someone to step up and fill the goalscoring shoes.
The U23s Kick off at 4pm so be sure to head down to the club for a great Saturday evening of Football. Annerley FC: Coming off of a 4-0 loss to Brisbane Knights last week. Annerley are another strong side in FQPL4 who will be aiming to kick start their season this weekend.

FQPL 3 WOMEN PREVIEW V SOUTHS
Our FQPL3 Women’s side got off to a great start last weekend at home after defeating a side that many expect to compete at the top of the table this season, Souths United 2-0. It was great to see new signing Danielle White on the scoresheet, opening her goal tally for the 2023 season in style. Another standout performance was Samantha Maslin, who scored a well taken hat-trick for the U23's, as they came away 3-1 winners against Souths.
Lucas will want to ensure the Ladies do not get ahead of themselves however as they come up against another strong new side to the competition in Wynnum Wolves.
They kick off at 3pm on Sunday at Wayne Gracey Field. With the u23s kicking off at 1pm.

Purple Cow Real Estate is powering the SUFC community in 2023
When creating winning teams, it's easy to focus on individual talents and skills But what about the power of community in supporting winning teams? Andy Nutton and Kristian Samuels believe great communities can significantly support a team's success.
"A strong community is the foundation of a team's achievements, and I believe it's one reason Springfield United is such a successful club – we have an unshakeable community both at the club and across Greater Springfield," Nutton said
Veteran SUFC member, Nutton has been a part of SUFC since 2008 "I've played at a few clubs, and SUFC is by far the standout – I love how friendly and supportive everyone is "
As Director and Principal at Purple Cow Real Estate in Springfield Lakes, Nutton knew it was important for his team to give back to the local community as Springfield United's Premier Partner in 2023. "We saw an opportunity to support our community and invest in the future of our local athletes," Nutton said.
Samuels, who kicks off his second season with SUFC in 2023, is a fan of the family-orientated and diverse community culture enjoyed at the club
"It's like the whole neighbourhood is out together some days, and I find focusing on the game as a team is also the best thing for releasing a busy week," Samuels said
Besides football, Nutton and Samuel's other passion is, of course, real estate You'll find them helping local property owners and investors sell and lease homes with the Purple Cow team when they're not on the pitch
"Purple Cow is a genuinely local team We're not a small 'one man band' or a corporate franchise – so we have the power and flexibility of a strong and experienced team – and we wholeheartedly care about our community, " Nutton states.
"We're also different from other agencies – our focus on quality property marketing can take a good sale price to a wow sale price," Samuels reiterated
So, when asked for their advice for local property owners in 2023, here's what Nutton and Samuels had to say.
Remember that Greater Springfield is creating its own market
Greater Springfield doesn't typically conform to the broader Queensland or national property trends. Our community has so much new infrastructure and amenity development that it essentially creates its own property market. While many other areas are experiencing a downturn, Greater Springfield is bucking the trend. We recommend regularly speaking with our local experts to get correct information about your property and our local market's position at any given time.
A local agent will always give you the home game advantage
There is nothing worse than undervaluing your home. Make sure you choose a local team that knows the area and understands what Greater Springfield has to offer for buyers and tenants. Like football, it's always best to have the home team advantage. Having a knowledgeable local team will also understand the hidden value in your property, the village, and our market, which will translate to a better outcome for you
If you're considering selling in 2023, here's what you should do
Talk to the Purple Cow team for a 'health check' on your property You'll learn valuable insights such as a price update, suburb market reports, current demand for your home, and a rental appraisal. Also, discuss simple suggestions that could add value to your home because first impressions count, and this advice can help your property stand out. Also remember to be diligent, do research, ask questions, and have a clear strategy.
Ask for the Purple Cow SUFC member benefits
We're proud to be a part of SUFC's season and look forward to continuing to support our community. If you're selling or leasing a property in 2023, ask us about Purple Cow's Member's Premium Package to increase your success in the property market.

MICK MATTHEWSHEAD OF JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT
The season starts this weekend for some of our teams and I would like to wish all the players & officials the very best for the season.
I’m happy to report that I can see all the coaches implementing our style of play & working closely with their players to grow their understanding.
This week I have started working with some teams on one of the critical elements from our “Our style of play”playing out from the back. “ I’m hoping to start seeing teams bring this into our competition games over the next few weeks but it will take time and players will make mistakes so if I can ask parents to be patient with this.
Our style of play is a possession based game and this will assist players in their development & understanding of the game.
Let’s not yell from the sidelines Boot it long!

STEVE RIDDELL - CLUB REGISTRAR
This week, we catch up with Club Registrar and all round club man Steve Riddell, as all of our 2023 teams are either back in training or gearing up for their first rounds.
Last weekend saw the first round for our FQPL Men and Women, with mixed results. Both squads returned to the training pitch this week and we are looking to have all of them in the winners circle this week.
Metro men and women and juniors (U13 to U18) where busy this week finalising their teams in preparation for Round 1 this weekend. The Masters also welcome Lions FC for their annual 'Masters Showdown' against the Richlands based club.
With 18 home games this weekend across this group over Saturday and Sunday, there are plenty of games to see.
This week was a huge week in our calendar with around 520 MiniRoos players starting training this week. With our Mini-Roos Kangaroos teams already training, this brings our total MiniRoos number up to nearly 620 players across 61 teams.
Lots of potential SUFC superstars in the making!
We are also start to prepare for our 2023 Kit, that is incoming. Please be advised that this is a huge operational task for the club, and we will be in contact with players/parents as soon as kit is ready for collection. The most likely occurrence will be kit handout days scheduled for the coming Saturday Mornings.

With the Springfield Cup now behind us, it's full sails ahead to this Saturday where 4 of our 5 metro teams begin their season.
With mixed results in the cup over the weekend, SUFC teams finished 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively. Metro 8 kicks off a full Saturday at ‘The Summit’ against local Ipswich club, Western Pride at 3pm. With a bunch of lads new to the club and some returning faces, this looks to be an exciting game in what should be a good hitout for the boys. Following Metro 8, Metro 7 kicks off at 5pm against Redland United Led by “Wham, Bam” Matthew Tham and club life member, Patrick Matchett, the boys are looking to continue their good run of form in the Springfield Cup into the regular season. Concluding the Saturday for home metro games are Metro 6 South.
After a disappointing finish to their 3rd-place play-off against Toowoong, Gavin Davidson and his men look to get back to winning ways against another local Ipswich club, Ipswich Knights in what looks to be another exciting match. Metro 6 Central heads to Tarragindi for a Saturday afternoon game, kicking off at 4pm.
After starting the Springfield Cup with a draw, these boys are still searching for their first 3 points of the year. Both Metro 5 South and Metro 5 Central kick-off at 4pm Sunday, with Metro 5 South playing at home to Ipswich Knights and Metro 5 Central playing away at Moggil.
Both games will be nothing short of hard-hitting and fast-paced football, with plenty of goals to be scored by both SUFC teams.

The Scottish football legend, 78, will leave his role as Bairns Technical Director after finally deciding to call it a day
Smith, best man at Scotland Hall of Fame legend Billy Bremner’s wedding, will end nearly 60 years in the game to move to Australia.
The Bairns are set to honour Smith in their final league match of the season against one of Smith’s former sides St Mirren.
A club statement said: “The club look forward to celebrating the achievements of Alex and thanking him for his unwavering service and commitment during his time at The Falkirk Stadium on Saturday 28th April, with further information on this occasion to follow in the coming weeks ”
Smith began his playing career at Kilmarnock, before spells with Stenhousemuir, Stirling Albion, East Stirling and Albion Rovers.
