Last week was a tough result to stomach, as we let a 3-1 lead slip in the last minutes of our game against Logan Metro, to eventually draw 3-3.
Our Focus this week has been on finishing games off, and not allowing teams to stay in the contest. As many of the lads have played in higher leagues than what we are in, I've challenged them to not shy away from the big moments in games, and enjoy them rather than worry about what could happen if we make mistakes.
Training has been sharp this week, and the boys will be looking to bounce back against a strong New Farm United outfit. We know a bit about New Farm, and how they will want to play. They have started the season in good form and will prove a good test for us.
Being back at 'The Summit' is huge for us, as we have made our home a fortress over the last few years. Having a big pitch with plenty of space to move the ball into definitely suits us as a group and I cannot wait to see the lads put in a 90 Minute performance on Saturday.
Make sure to get down and support us and the other teams playing at home throughout the weekend.
After having our game against wolves called off due to the weather the ladies were keen for their local derby against bulls.
We started the game slow but had a very dominant performance, even though we put 4 goals past them we all felt we should have put a lot more.
This week we travel to Bulimba to play Southside Eagles, who have started the season flying but we will turn up on Saturday looking to stop that and continue our own unbeaten run.
We also look to work on our finishing and slot plenty of goals past them. We have a long season ahead of us and a game like this is a great way to put our stamp on the competition.
We would love plenty of support from our SUFC community as we look to continue our winning streak.
Our FQPL4 men face their toughest test so far this season against New Farm United.
Following the disappointment of last week throwing away a 3-1 lead in the dying minutes against Logan Metro, the lads will be wanting to bounce back against one of the stronger sides to start the season in New Farm.
FQPL4 is proving to be very strong and competitive with any team being able to take points off of anyone and will be a very tight battle at the top of the table throughout the entire season.
Be sure to get down to the club to show your support in what is sure to be a cracking contest. Kick off at ‘The Summit’ is at 7pm with our currently undefeated u23s side kicking off at 5pm

The FQPL3 Metro Women are 2 from 2 to start the season and have looked extremely strong defensively and in attack so far.
This week they take on another side yet to lose this season in Southside Eagles away at Memorial Park, Bulimba at 6pm on Saturday Evening.
Coach Lucas Torrisi and the Ladies will want to ensure they maintain the strong start and momentum by notching up another clean sheet and another 3 points to kick off the season and establish themselves as the early pace setters at the top of the league. The u23s kick off at 4pm.

One of the longest serving Sponsors of the club is Claudio from La Prima Pizzeria.
Based just a stones throw away from 'The Summit', Claudio provides the best Italian Cuisine in town.
“Being recognised as one of the best pizza places in Brisbane has definitely given us a lot of confidence in what we’re doing,” he said.
“It also proves that we’re on the right track, so we’re really happy to be working hard and achieving our dreams.
“To me, this is not just a business, it’s something I love and even though I might at times get busy or stressed, I still love it and don’t see it as just a “job”.
“All of our pizzas are popular and we’re still the only business providing Italian cuisine in the area, so we have slowly started to offer other food such as tiramisu, gnocchi and other popular Italian dishes which have been well received by our customers.

When creating winning teams, it's easy to focus on individual talents and skills But what about the power of community in supporting winning teams? Andy Nutton and Kristian Samuels believe great communities can significantly support a team's success.
"A strong community is the foundation of a team's achievements, and I believe it's one reason Springfield United is such a successful club – we have an unshakeable community both at the club and across Greater Springfield," Nutton said
Veteran SUFC member, Nutton has been a part of SUFC since 2008 "I've played at a few clubs, and SUFC is by far the standout – I love how friendly and supportive everyone is "
As Director and Principal at Purple Cow Real Estate in Springfield Lakes, Nutton knew it was important for his team to give back to the local community as Springfield United's Premier Partner in 2023. "We saw an opportunity to support our community and invest in the future of our local athletes," Nutton said.
Samuels, who kicks off his second season with SUFC in 2023, is a fan of the family-orientated and diverse community culture enjoyed at the club
"It's like the whole neighbourhood is out together some days, and I find focusing on the game as a team is also the best thing for releasing a busy week," Samuels said
Besides football, Nutton and Samuel's other passion is, of course, real estate You'll find them helping local property owners and investors sell and lease homes with the Purple Cow team when they're not on the pitch
"Purple Cow is a genuinely local team We're not a small 'one man band' or a corporate franchise – so we have the power and flexibility of a strong and experienced team – and we wholeheartedly care about our community, " Nutton states.
"We're also different from other agencies – our focus on quality property marketing can take a good sale price to a wow sale price," Samuels reiterated
Greater Springfield doesn't typically conform to the broader Queensland or national property trends. Our community has so much new infrastructure and amenity development that it essentially creates its own property market. While many other areas are experiencing a downturn, Greater Springfield is bucking the trend. We recommend regularly speaking with our local experts to get correct information about your property and our local market's position at any given time.
There is nothing worse than undervaluing your home. Make sure you choose a local team that knows the area and understands what Greater Springfield has to offer for buyers and tenants. Like football, it's always best to have the home team advantage. Having a knowledgeable local team will also understand the hidden value in your property, the village, and our market, which will translate to a better outcome for you
Talk to the Purple Cow team for a 'health check' on your property You'll learn valuable insights such as a price update, suburb market reports, current demand for your home, and a rental appraisal. Also, discuss simple suggestions that could add value to your home because first impressions count, and this advice can help your property stand out. Also remember to be diligent, do research, ask questions, and have a clear strategy.
We're proud to be a part of SUFC's season and look forward to continuing to support our community. If you're selling or leasing a property in 2023, ask us about Purple Cow's Member's Premium Package to increase your success in the property market.
Collect your 2023 SUFC Members Card at the same time you collect your 2023 Kit Members Cards can also be purchased at the Canteen for $10.

This weeks focus has been on working with the club’s Executive on our submission to Football Qld to enter the advanced league competitions in 2024.
Looking at the criteria set by Football Qld I do believe the club is well placed.
With this is mind the club is committed to providing both an advanced and a community pathway for all players.
Exciting times for the club moving forward.

This week, we catch up with Club President and all round club man Mark Gill.
The last few weeks have been a busy time for the club, with kit arriving, MiniRoos starting back their 2023 training after a few rain delays, and our Masters and Metro League pillars of the club getting stuck into their 2023 seasons.
As mentioned at the start of the programme, we now shift focus to our 2023 Mini-Roos Carnival. As one of the biggest events in the club calendar, we look forward to the Carnival each and every year.
This year we have attracted over 70 teams from across Brisbane to participate in the 2023 edition. From ages 6 to 12, we cater for Kangaroo and Non Kangaroo teams, and have seen the quality of the Carnival improve year on year.
Our Masters Fellas gear up for the start of their season this weekend, as they look to continue on the successful path we have built as a Masters Club over the last 5 years. Fielding a record number of teams in 2023, we have built a Masters Program that rivals many clubs across Brisbane. It's great to also see a lot of our Masters Players also apart of the club in other areas, many coaching junior teams.
A area of the club that we have invested a lot of time into over the off season is the Divisional (U13-U18) teams. All teams have got their seasons underway, and particularly our Development sides have impressed. With the goal to enter the FQ Academy pathway system in 2024, it's great to see our Development sides improving with each week.
Some mixed results for SUFC Metro men this week, with some huge wins and some even bigger loses, let’s have a look how the teams went
Metro 8, the less that is said is better. A 14-1 loss to a stacked South’s Team A Nathan Nguyen penalty being the one for Springfield. Metro 8 travel to Rocklea to take on Brisbane Knights, 6:30 Friday.
Similar, Metro 7 suffered another loss to a strong Teviot outfit, final score being 6-1 Teviot. Metro 7 host local rivals Ripley in a 5pm game on Saturday.
Metro 6 Central after SUFC’s solitary point in round 1 were able to get SUFC’s first metro win for the season with a 6-1 thumping of Southside Eagles SUFC’s resident tap in merchant, Sam Chadwick scoring a hattrick (only two we’re tap ins) with goals from Eryk Legaspi, Matt Lavern and Rory Duncan helping to a big win. Metro 6 Central travel to Taringa for a 4pm kick off Saturday hoping to continue their strong form.
Metro 6 South took on Holland Park away Saturday Night in what would be another close game. Unfortunately the boys went down by one goal again, after giving away two pens and missing one of their own The score finished 3-2 to Holland Park after we led 2-0 Aleks and Josh Batty the goal scorers. The lads host Western Pride this Saturday at 7pm in another local derby.
Metro 5 Central hosted newcomers West End FC at the summit looking to hit the ground running after missing out on round 1 Hayden Brook was able to make some great saves and Kevin Barraclough scored what we hope to be his first hattrick of many. Unfortunately West End got the better of them and won the game 4-3 Metro 5C travel to Yeronga 5pm, Saturday
Metro 5 South also traveled to Holland Park on Friday and blew them away. The score finishing 8-2 to the boys, resembling the amount of beers each of them would’ve had after the game, 82. Metro 5S host Logan Lighting this Friday at 'The Summit'
The wait is over.
After more than three months of pre-season grind, eight Springfield United masters teams – a new club record and the most of any Queensland Masters Football (QMF) club this season - will set out for glory in Round 1 fixtures on Friday night.
With the over-35 division 1 side handed a bye to start the season, division 3 will lead the way at home to Annerley at 7pm. Both sides have earned promotion after dominant 2022 campaigns, with Springfield claiming the division 4 premiership and Annerley winning the division 5 double.
In division 5, newly-promoted Springfield will face an immediate test of their credentials against last season’s premiership and grand final runners up, Redlands, at Cleveland at 7pm.
In the division 7 Maroon competition, Springfield will host Centenary at 7pm, while the club’s division 7 White outfit will make the trip to Redlands at 8.30pm.
After battling in last year’s over-45 division 1, Springfield will be without a team in the top flight this season, instead fielding one team in division 2 and two in division 3.
Division 2 open their campaign at home to Rochedale at 8.30pm, with the Foxes to host Holland Park at the same time in division 3.
The Hunters play away to 2022 division 3 semi-finalists Southside Eagles at 8.30pm.
