As South Jordan continues to grow, so does the need for critical infrastructure improvements. While these projects will enhance transportation, safety, and utilities in the long run, we understand that road closures, detours, and construction impacts can be frustrating. Here’s a look at the major projects underway and what to expect in the coming months.
A full east-west closure of 9800 South at Bangerter Highway is now in place, allowing crews to build the new freeway-style interchange. This closure will remain in effect until fall 2025. Currently, eastbound and westbound traffic can turn right onto Bangerter Highway, but that is subject to change as the project moves forward. Drivers needing to travel east or west will need to use 9000 South or 10400 South as detour routes.
• What to expect: Increased congestion, shifting traffic patterns, and delays, especially during peak hours.
• Good news: The new pedestrian bridge is now open for public use, improving connectivity for walkers and cyclists.

Construction is currently happening between 3200 West and 3600 West, and will continue to progress westward along 11800 South.
• Temporary paving: Installed weekly as sewer pipe work is completed. This will remain in place until spring 2025, when permanent paving is scheduled.

Starting March 1, Enbridge will begin boring under 11400 South, beginning just south of White Peach and continuing to the South Jordan/ Riverton border. This phase of the project is expected to continue through June.
• What to expect: Temporary lane restrictions and intersection disruptions in affected areas.

UDOT is in the design phase for the freeway section of Mountain View Corridor (MVC) between Porter Rockwell Boulevard in Herriman and Old Bingham Highway in West Jordan. Planned improvements include:
• A new concrete freeway section with grade separations at major intersections.
• Slip ramps for improved freeway access.
• 22 new bridges at 16 locations.
• Timeline: Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026.
• More info: mountainview.udot.utah.gov
UDOT is planning an extension of U-111 from Herriman Boulevard to South Jordan Parkway, addressing future growth and improving regional mobility.
• Expected benefits: Reduced congestion, better connectivity, and improved traffic flow at U-111 and 11800 South.
• Timeline: Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026.

We know that construction can be an inconvenience, and we
appreciate your patience as these essential projects move forward. Stay informed by visiting project websites and following South Jordan’s social media channels for updates. Safe travels!
oin us for a morning of springtime fun at South Jordan’s annual Spring Spectacular! This free event is packed with entertainment, from a professional basketball dunk team to a baby animal petting zoo, live music from Doctor Noize, and a thrilling candy scramble. But one of the most meaningful aspects of this celebration is our Adaptive Area, designed to ensure that all members of our community can fully participate and enjoy the event.
South Jordan is committed to creating events where everyone feels welcome. The Adaptive Area is a dedicated space for individuals of all ages with special or adaptive needs, as well as their siblings. Crowded spaces, loud noises, and fast-paced activities can be overwhelming for some, so this thoughtfully designed space provides a comfortable and enjoyable experience tailored to their needs.
Located slightly away from the main event, the Adaptive Area offers:
• A quieter space with reduced sound
• A less crowded environment for a stress-free experience
• A wheelchair-friendly design with a wide concrete pathway
• Candy and prizes placed on tables, bleachers, and grass for easy access
By providing this space, we ensure that children and adults with different abilities can celebrate Spring Spectacular with their families in a
way that is enjoyable, comfortable, and fun.
We can’t wait to celebrate spring with you! Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 9–11 AM at the South Jordan Softball Fields and enjoy a spectacular morning of fun for all.

• Be Alert! Look out for pedestrians everywhere, at all times
• Slow Down! Use extra caution when driving in hard-to-see conditions
• Stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk and follow school zone speed limits

An EXCITING YEAR for South Jordan
South Jordan is entering an exciting new chapter—one filled with grand openings, ribbon cuttings, and major milestones that will shape our city for years to come. As we move into spring and summer, we’ll welcome new businesses, entertainment venues, and transportation enhancements that will bring additional opportunities and services to our residents and visitors.
One of the most anticipated events of the year is the opening of The Ballpark at America First Square, the new home of the Salt Lake Bees. This state-of-the-art stadium will serve as the heart of Downtown Daybreak, a vibrant urban center in South Jordan, designed to bring together commerce, entertainment, and residential living. This development will be a major boost to our city’s economy, providing a gathering space for families, businesses, and sports fans alike.
This project will offer a mix of commercial, residential, performing arts, and recreational opportunities in the fastest-growing part of Salt Lake County. The area will feature:
• Numerous restaurants and cafés
• Entertainment venues
• High-end and service-based retail
• A hotel
• Office spaces and businesses
• Recreational amenities
• Performing arts
• Access to transit
Adding to the excitement, the Larry H. Miller Megaplex Cinema-Entertainment Center is set to open this summer, bringing state-of-the-art movie experiences, bowling, arcade, dining, and entertainment for all ages. With these new additions, South Jordan is quickly becoming a premier destination for both recreation and business.
Beyond the urban center, there’s even more happening throughout the city! In the coming months, we’ll see new businesses opening in other areas, enhancements to parks and recreation including six new pickleball courts at East Riverfront Park, and continued investment in roads and infrastructure to support our growing community. These developments ensure that no matter where you live in South Jordan, we are making exciting progress to help you live, work, play, and get where you’re going better.
Through it all, South Jordan remains committed to smart, long-term planning. We continue to enhance transportation corridors, invest in efficient roadways, conserve water, and expand outdoor recreation—all while fostering sustainable economic growth. Our goal is to make sure South Jordan remains one of the best places to live and do business.
With so many exciting projects ahead, South Jordan’s future has never looked brighter. I look forward to celebrating these milestones with you and hope to see you at a ribbon cutting soon!
