WATER : Helping You Save Water—and Money CONSERVATION
South Jordan City is committed to helping residents and businesses conserve water and save money with a range of rebates and resources. Through the City’s Water Conservation Program—made possible with support from the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District—residents can get up to $1,450 back through available rebates.
The rebates cover a wide range of watersaving upgrades. Residents can get:
• Up to $300 back for waterwise plants, free rock mulch, drip conversion kit, and weed barrier for park strips.
• Free rock mulch for any areas where grass is being removed in conjunction with the curbing rebate.
• Incentives for hardscape and curbing projects that replace grass with water-wise landscaping.
• Rebates for low-flow fixtures & toilet replacements if your toilet uses more than 1.6 gallons per flush (pre-1992 toilets).
The City’s water conservation staff manage everything from leak detection to free water audits on sprinkler systems. South Jordan recently launched a cutting-edge leak notification system that automatically detects leaks for every account, even if you’re not signed up for the customer portal. Early leak detection helps protect your home and reduces wasted water.
Grass removal rebates:
South Jordan residents have gained unique access to both city and state incentives. Utah Water Savers provides incentives that can be used in conjunction with City-provided rebates.
The popular FlipYourStrip program makes it easy to transform park strips from thirsty turf to sustainable, attractive landscaping with minimal upfront cost. From April 15 to October 15, residents can apply to receive free rock mulch, drip conversion kits, weed barrier and up to $300 for water wise plants to start saving water right away.
By taking advantage of these rebates and ongoing support, South Jordan residents can save water, lower bills, and contribute to a stronger, more sustainable community.

Mov in MoonMORE THAN JUST A MOVIE

Summer nights in South Jordan are truly magical, thanks to amazing events like the Movies in the Moonlight series. But this event is about so much more than watching a film—it’s about bringing the community together and strengthening the bonds that make our city such a great

According to the Utah Foundation, higher levels of social capital—such as people trusting their neighbors and participating in community activities—are linked to lower crime rates and better overall wellbeing. In South Jordan, Movies in the Moonlight is a shining example of this in action.

Residents help shape the experience, too—the City’s recreation staff keeps an ever-growing list of movie ideas and takes suggestions from attendees. This ensures that the series is always evolving and rooted in what neighbors love most.

While many cities offer outdoor movie nights, South Jordan goes above and beyond by curating a diverse lineup of films and unique activities that appeal to every age group. This year, the series kicks off with The Greatest Showman on June 20, featuring circus aerialists and stilt walkers. Families can laugh and play on June 27 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and a ninja obstacle course, or enjoy a nostalgic night out on July 11 with The Princess Bride alongside a climbing wall and pirate ship.

p.m., and films roll at dusk (9 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. typically). With $1.25 concessions, local food trucks, creative activities, and a movie under the stars, it’s an experience that can’t be replicated at home.
Every Friday night, from June 20 to August 15 (except for July 4th!), the festivities start with food trucks at 6:30 p.m. at Highland Park. Themed activities kick off at 7:00

I Love America
Each July, our nation gathers to celebrate the birth of the United States of America— an annual tradition that stirs something deep within me. As your mayor, a mother, a neighbor, and a proud American, I feel immense gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy and the sacrifices that have made those freedoms possible. The Fourth of July isn’t just a date on the calendar; it’s a celebration of who we are, where we came from, and what we stand for.
Here in South Jordan, patriotism is more than a passing sentiment. It’s a way of life. I see it in our community every day—in the American flags flown in front yards and business centers all over the city, the kindness we extend to one another, and the way we show up for our veterans, gold star families, and first responders. We are a city that honors our past while working together toward a brighter, stronger future. I believe that’s the truest expression of American spirit.
Independence Day reminds us of the courage and conviction of those who came before us— the visionaries who dared to imagine a free nation built on liberty, justice, and opportunity. Their determination laid the foundation for everything we have today. And it wasn’t easy. So while we celebrate with barbecues, parades, and family gatherings, I hope we also take a moment to reflect on their legacy and renew our own personal commitment to protecting it.
As we prepare for America’s 250th birthday next year, I encourage everyone to think about what freedom means in your own life. Whether it’s the ability to worship, speak your mind, raise your family, or pursue your dreams, those rights are precious. Let’s never take them for granted. Let’s teach our children not only to love their country but to serve it, protect it, and lead it forward with integrity.
One of my favorite things about being mayor is watching our community come together. From our annual SoJo Summerfest to neighborhood barbecues and fireworks in the park, these moments connect us—not just as residents of South Jordan, but as Americans united by shared values. I love this country with all my heart, and I love the way South Jordan embodies the very best of it.
Happy Independence Day, South Jordan! May your celebrations be joyful, your hearts be full, and your love for America be reflected in this month, and always.
