SOUTH JORDAN SENIOR ADVISORY COMMITTEE The South Jordan Senior Advisory Committee is dedicated to helping promote the interests of older adults and their families by providing a creative and informational environment where older adults can engage in social activities, sustaining and improving the quality of health, well-being and safety and by supporting the fulfillment of older adult needs in the community. Open meetings held the last Monday of the month. Information posted on Utah Public Notice website located at https://www.utah.gov/pmn and in the following pages of this newsletter. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday celebrated to honor the life and legacy of civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He left for us a powerful message of racial equality and justice and we celebrate this by striving to make a positive impact in our own community. Dr. King fought for the rights and dignity of all people and his legacy inspires us to continue working toward a more just and equitable world. In his famous “I Have a Dream” speech which was delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963, Dr. King speaks of a hopeful future where freedom rings from every mountain and hill in our nation. Now, over 60 years later, we are closer, but there is still work to do. I invite you to read the speech in it’s entirety at the website below.
