Artist on Display

Artist on Display spotlights an artist form Salt Lake County each month. Displays are located inside the Gale Museum and Inside South Jordan City Hall. Please visit sjc.utah.gov/arts to see the featured Artist on Display and for any additional information. Applications for 2026 will open September 1, 2025.

Chalk Art Festival – at SoJo Summerfest

The Chalk Art Festival features various artists, showcasing incredible local talent. The Chalk Art Festival will be available to view at North City Park, during SoJo Summerfest starting Friday, June 6 – Saturday, June 7. Interested artists should apply at register.sjc.utah.gov. Art Haven has all-new multi medium experiences with every session. South Jordan’s own improv group – Usually hilarious, never any actual sock puppets. Shows are held the first Friday of each month at 9 p.m. at the Gale Museum – 10300 S. Beckstead Ln. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Dueling Pianos

Friday September 5, 7–9 p.m. Prepare to be captivated by an electrifying musical experience like no other with Killer Keyz! SoJo Quilt Show

Old Glory Historical Dance

Parent & Pirate Date Night

September 20, 2025, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Field west of Community Center, 10778 S. Redwood Road

Sign up for a 90 minute timeslot | Pre-Registration required. Parents will help their pirates (children) make a coin purse, and then go on an escape-room-type treasure hunt, enjoy interactions with pirates, Peter Pan, riddles with mermaids, and playing on a life sized pirate ship. Event is open to all parent-child combinations regardless of gender. This event is recommended for elementary school age children. Any age of child is welcome but younger children will need more help with escape-room-type treasure hunt. Completing the treasure hunt is not required, and the game can be altered to be easier upon request. Cost $20 per resident couple, $25 per non/resident couple $10 each additional child. One additional parent can attend at no additional charge.

Pumpkin Promenade

Free pumpkins for South Jordan residents to enter in our annual pumpkin carving/ decorating competition! Check out our website for more information on how to enter. Free donuts and cocoa. Giant pumpkin carving and story teller provided by the South Jordan City Arts Council.

The Museum's Mission

Our mission is to preserve and celebrate the culture and heritage of South Jordan throughout time. We provide an educational space accessible for visitors of all ages to learn and contribute to the story of South Jordan.

Tours

Call ahead to schedule a free guided tour. We have experience working with lots of groups, including preschool classes, children and teens, senior groups, and sensory sensitive groups. To ensure all our visitors have a good experience, we limit tour sizes to 20 visitors. If your group is larger, reach out about the potential for arranging multiple tour sessions.

Exhibits

Our interactive exhibits are perfect for younger visitors! Step into a historic school, help out with chores on the farm, or shop at the local service station. All visitors will enjoy seeing artifacts from early South Jordan families and homes.

Museum Mashup

A Monthly Craft Kit from the Gale Museum. Each month free kits are provided at the Gale Museum while supplies last. Activities are perfect for Pre-K and K-3 learners. Group leaders are encouraged to bring their group for a visit or tour and pick up kits afterwards if still available.

Park Pavilion Reservations

South Jordan offers a variety of pavilions and sports facilities that may be reserved for special events. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. To reserve a pavilion, please follow the guidelines.

Juneteenth Luncheon

Join us to recognize and learn about this important event in U.S. history. Juneteenth commemorates the Emancipation Proclamation’s effective end to slavery in the U.S. We will have an interactive presentation by Sema Hadithi with the African American Heritage and Culture Foundation. Lunch will be provided through Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services followed by the interactive presentation.

SoJo Senior Programs Summer Dance

Payment is due at time of sign up | Cost $40.00 for South Jordan residents, $50 for non-residents Salmon, grilled over dried fruitwood fires, baked potato, corn on the cob, salad, roll, and a cookie! Plus great entertainment throughout the evening. All held at Payson City Memorial Park. Meet the bus at the Community Center and don’t worry about driving all that way.

Living Well With Diabetes Program

Once a week on Wednesday from August 7–September 11 at 12:00–2:30 p.m. | Space is limited and sign up is required. Please call 801-302-1222 to sign up | FREE

This workshop is an evidence-based program that meets once a week for six weeks. It is for people with diabetes or pre-diabetes and will be taught by trained facilitators. The course will teach how to solve problems, use medications, communicate and work with your health care professionals, and increase your confidence in managing your condition. This course is proven to make a difference in students’ lives.

SoJo Senior Programs Art Show

Artwork accepted August 4–20. On display August 27–October 3 | Space is limited, registering your entry is required. Entry forms are available at the Community Center. Payment is due at time of sign up FREE

Call for artists who are ages 60 or better to submit their artwork to celebrate older adult talent! Show will be displayed at the Community Center. Accepting art in four categories: 2D (paint, drawing), 3D (ceramic, sculpture, woodwork, fabric), literary (poetry and prose), and photography. Limit: 2 pieces per person.

Generation Day

Wednesday, August 27. Events between 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Celebrate the collaboration of generations that make up Senior Programs! This year we welcome the first of Generation X into our elite club! We will have a full day of celebrating complete with breakfast, games, prizes, lunch, Bingo, entertainment, and finish it off with an all-inclusive dance (aka Sock Hop)!

Thunder Mountain Martial Arts

We teach a variety of Mixed Martial Arts including Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Judo, and Jujitsu. Learn self-defense, stand up protection, ground fighting, demonstrations, and weapons. Ages: 6+ | $65 monthly
