Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services is providing lunch at the Community Center. Homebound lunch meals are available for those who qualify. Qualification forms available at the front desk. Erie and Linda Walker have lived in South Jordan since 1992. They both grew up in San Antonio, Texas and have lived in Utah for over 45 years They have five children who live in Utah, Wyoming, New Hampshire, and Washington state. They have seven grandchildren. They both currently serve as members of the South Jordan Senior Advisory Committee.
Erie worked in computer software development for over forty years – developing computer systems for patient record keeping for hospitals throughout the country and in several foreign countries. He likes vegetable gardening, reading, and watching movies of all types. He loves learning and is fascinated by topics like: investments, government and political systems, human nature (why people make the choices they do), and history (ancient and more modern).
Erie is service oriented – if he sees something that needs doing, he tends to volunteer to help get it done He has volunteered to serve as voting precinct chair, Millcreek Community Council member, election judge, and scoutmaster. His favorite volunteer experience was as Cub Scout Webelos Den Leader for 10-year-old boys.
Linda received an accounting degree from Texas A&M University and worked in that field for several years.
In 1980, Linda and Erie were living in Utah but had not met even though both were raised in San Antonio, Texas They both went home to Texas for Christmas It was love at first sight for Linda and she pursued the poor guy. She landed Erie by cooking a Mexican food dinner for him. They were married the next August.
Linda is an excellent singer and loves singing in the choir. She likes gardening, especially growing different varieties of irises. Linda is a great cook and enjoys sharing cooking duties with Erie. She likes walking for exercise and doing strength training. She enjoys playing Canasta at the Senior Center and playing other games. She enjoys reading, watching TV, going to plays, and learning new things
