The City of South Jordan recently announced that the Gale Center of History and Culture will now be The Gale Museum. This museum, where the richness of South Jordan’s history and the wonder of a children’s museum converge, will host a Grand Reopening Event on September 9th. Known for its fun, free, and diverse exhibits, the museum has seen increasing attendance over the last year thanks to word of mouth. However, many residents remain unaware of its existence. The rebranding aims to enhance the museum’s visibility and better highlight its mission and unique offerings, particularly its childfriendly exhibits.

The museum focuses on being a family-friendly history museum with lots of hands-on exhibits, and the new logo reflects that playfulness and energy. The colors in the logo pick up the City logo’s greens and it incorporates two new shades of blue. Notice of Budget Billing Recalculations and Rate Changes
South Jordan residents who utilize budget billing should be aware that their monthly utility payments have been recalculated. Each year, the Utility Billing department reviews the past year’s utility data to determine a consistent monthly amount for customers on budget billing. This recalculation has been completed, and the new budget billing amounts are reflected on the July statements, which began arriving in mailboxes at the start of August.

In addition to the budget billing updates, there have been rate changes for stormwater, garbage service, and water, effective with the new fiscal year. These changes are also reflected in the July statement. We encourage residents to review their statements carefully to understand these adjustments.

Put the phone away – Most of our crashes happen around intersections due to drivers not obeying stop signs and traffic signals, or because they are distracted by something or someone inside the vehicle. Please put distractions away. If you need to look at GPS, make a phone call, or read/send a message, please pull off the roadway.

s we kick off a new school year, I want you to know that I’m cheering for all students, parents, teachers, and staff that live or work in South Jordan. The start of a new year is always filled with excitement and anticipation. This year is also a bit sad for me as our youngest is starting college. With six kids, this is the first time in 25 years that our family has not had anyone starting a new year in K-12. (It goes fast my friends, enjoy these moments!)
Did you know there are 23 schools in South Jordan? Plus Herriman High right on our border, which is a South Jordan feeder school with over 2/3 of the student body made up of South Jordan residents. Ensuring the safety of all students as they return to school is our top priority. Our South Jordan Police Department and Jordan School District officials have been working diligently over the summer to enhance security measures, improve traffic controls around school zones, update safe walking routes, and ensure safety protocols within our schools. I encourage all parents to have conversations with their children about safety, whether it’s being aware of their surroundings, practicing safe walking routes, or understanding the importance of speaking up if something doesn’t seem right. Together, we can create a secure environment where our children can focus on their education and personal development.
I also want to thank many of you for your continued support and involvement in the schools. Whether you
are volunteering in classrooms, are a member of the PTA or on a school community council, attend school board meetings, drive carpools, make donations to the principal’s pantries, or simply offer words of encouragement to students and educators, your contributions make a significant difference. Let’s make this school year one of collaboration, safety, and success for everyone. Wishing each of our students, their families, and our outstanding educators a fantastic 2024-2025 school year!
