Staying Safe On in South HalloweenJordan Night

Halloween is a cherished tradition in South Jordan, where residents go all out with festive decorations, turning neighborhoods into spooky wonderlands. However, with increased foot tra c, creative costumes, and now the added presence of e-bikes and electric scooters, staying safe on Halloween night requires extra caution.

Costume Safety

When selecting costumes, prioritize visibility and comfort. Choose costumes with re ective materials or add glow sticks, re ective tape, or LED lights to ensure drivers and others can see you. Avoid long, owing costumes that could cause tripping or get caught in scooter or bike wheels. Ensure masks t properly and do not obstruct vision.

both ways. Carry ashlights or wear headlamps to illuminate your path and alert drivers to your presence.

Candy Caution

Parents, remind your children not to eat any candy until it has been inspected at home. Watch out for opened or suspicious-looking treats and be mindful of allergies when sorting through your candy haul.

E-Bikes & Electric Scooters

Staying Visible & Traffic Awareness

South Jordan’s streets will be bustling with trick-or-treaters, and the excitement can sometimes make us forget basic tra c safety. Always cross streets at designated crosswalks and look

With the growing popularity of e-bikes and electric scooters in 2024, there’s an added layer of safety to consider. Riders should slow down, especially in crowded areas, and keep an eye out for children who may unexpectedly dart into the street. Pedestrians should also stay alert, as scooters can approach quickly and quietly.

Halloween is a night of fun and frights, but by staying aware and making safety a priority, we can ensure it remains a night to remember for all the right reasons.

Thank You for an Amazing 2024 Day of Service!

Words seem inadequate to express the depth of my gratitude to everyone who participated in our recent 2024 9/11 Day of Service.

Thanks to the efforts of over 800 volunteers, we were able to make a significant impact across multiple locations in our city. Volunteers worked on 14 different projects, mainly focused on maintaining trails and parks. City staff and volunteers worked side by side spreading mulch, removing grass around trees, picking up trash blown by the wind, and anything else that needed to be done. The 770 hours of service donated to the city not only helped us keep South Jordan beautiful, it saved us $23,100 in labor costs.

In addition to City specific projects, several neighborhoods and congregations did projects of their own. Many residents collected food and made record breaking donations to the Jordan Education Foundation to supply our Principal’s Pantries program.

On behalf of the City of South Jordan, thank you for your dedication, hard work, and generosity. It is because of our amazing PEOPLE that our South Jordan remains one of the Best Cities In America.

2024 SCHEDULE

Halloween is especially dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Drive slowly in and around neighborhoods and on residential streets. Watch for children who may dart out into the street, and always yield to pedestrians.
