GUIDE TO SIMPLIFYING UTILITY PAYMENTS

The City of South Jordan provides a range of essential services for our residents, including water, secondary water, garbage services, and animal licensing. The City understands that for many residents, your most common interaction with the City is paying for these services. Our dedicated staff always strives to provide the best service possible during these transactions. That’s why the City wants to make sure you’re aware of all the options available to you.

PAPERLESS BILLING

One of the easiest ways to simplify the billing process is by signing up for paperless billing. By going paperless,

you not only make things easier for yourself but also contribute to environmental conservation, reduce taxpayer spending on printing costs, and get your bill faster through email!

AUTO PAY

Another great option the City offers is auto pay. With South Jordan’s payment portal, you can set up regular payments directly from your bank or card. This ensures that your bills are always paid on time. If you choose to pay with e-check or debit, you have the flexibility to schedule fixed monthly payments, weekly payments, or payments on the bill’s due date. If you prefer to pay with a

credit card, you also have the option to pay the full bill amount on a date of your choice.

BUDGET BILLING

For customers who want a predictable monthly bill amount, budget billing is a great option. This option is available to customers who have at least 12 months of billing history at their current address. With budget billing, you pay the same amount each month, which helps you anticipate and plan for your expenses. To make things even more convenient, combine budget billing with auto pay. Also, for those currently enrolled in budget billing, July is when we your monthly bill amounts are calculated, so keep an eye out for your new monthly amount!

These options can make your utility payment processes smoother, faster, and easier. If you’d like to learn more, simply scan the QR codes below. The City is here to assist you every step of the way, so if you have questions, don’t hesitate to call our helpline at 801-446-4357.

As the summer comes to an end, it’s important for parents to prioritize their children’s safety when traveling to and from school. The South Jordan Police Department wants to help you and your children stay safe this school year by offering up some safety tips.

SAFE WALKING ROUTES

The Jordan School District, in collaboration with the City of South Jordan, has established Safe Walking Routes for many schools in our area. These routes are carefully selected to provide the safest paths for children to walk to school. Most routes have crossing guards stationed at specific points along the way. To find the designated Safe Walking Route for your child’s school, please consult the school administration or visit the school’s website.

WALKING TO SCHOOL

When your child starts walking to school, it’s a good idea to accompany them a few times to ensure they are familiar with the route. Encourage your child to use the sidewalk if one is available. In cases where there is no sidewalk, it’s safer for them to walk facing oncoming traffic. Teach your child to use crosswalks whenever possible and to always look both ways, twice, before crossing the street. Remind them to make eye contact with drivers to ensure they

are seen. Moreover, advise them to stay attentive to their surroundings and avoid distractions while walking.

RIDING A BIKE, SCOOTER, OR SKATEBOARD TO SCHOOL

If your child rides a bike, scooter, or skateboard to school, instruct them to ride on the side of the road that aligns with the flow of traffic. When crossing a street, teach them to come to a complete stop and walk their bike, scooter, or skateboard across safely. It’s essential for your child to wear a proper helmet for protection. Emphasize the importance of staying alert and avoiding distractions while riding.

TAKING THE BUS TO SCHOOL

To ensure a safe bus journey, accompany your child to the bus stop initially to familiarize them with the proper waiting spot and the process of getting on and off the bus safely. Advise your child to maintain a distance of at least six feet from the curb while waiting for the bus. Additionally, instruct them to wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before approaching it.

DRIVING TO SCHOOL

Parents play a crucial role in establishing good driving habits for new drivers. Be a positive example by driving the way you want your

teenager to drive. It’s important to note that car accidents are the leading cause of death among teenagers, primarily due to their lack of experience. Even after obtaining their driver’s license, it’s beneficial to continue driving with your teen. Encourage them to take the 4S pledge (Slow down, Stop, Seatbelt, Stay off your phone) to contribute to a safer South Jordan.

By following these safety tips, including using designated Safe Walking Routes, practicing caution while walking, riding a bike, or taking the bus, and setting a good example when driving, you can help ensure your child has a safe and secure commute.

Collaboration The Power of

Whena city, county, and school district join forces to collaborate on a common goal, remarkable things can happen. Over the past few years, South Jordan City, Salt Lake County, and Jordan School District have been working to do just that. We are thrilled that the collective effort of these three organizations has resulted in a recently announced deal to finally construct the long-awaited swimming lanes at Salt Lake County’s South Jordan Fitness and Aquatics Center. This unique collaboration will enhance recreational opportunities for the entire community, create a valuable asset that benefits individuals and teams of

KIDS CROSSING

Kids are returning to school. The city and school district work hard to maintain a safe route for the kids to walk, but kids often wander so watch out for them in unexpected places. Don’t speed, and stop at stop signs.

all ages, and encourages a healthy, active lifestyle. By leveraging our combined resources, we are able to achieve a goal that otherwise is out of reach for any one entity. By collaborating on the construction of new swimming lanes, the city, county, and school district demonstrate shared commitment to meeting the recreational needs of residents. Once the swim lanes are constructed, they will be open to the public and will also be used by various swim teams, including our Bingham High Miners.

I want to express sincere appreciation to the South Jordan swimming community, both the young and young at heart, for your patience and persistence in helping make this collaboration a reality. I also wanted to extend a huge thank you to the South Jordan City Council, the Salt Lake County Council and Mayor, and the Jordan District Board of Education, along with the professional staff from each of the organizations. Many of you know that these public swim lanes have been needed since the Marv Jensen Recreation Center closed. This unique partnership serves as a testament to the spirit of teamwork and cooperation that makes our community thrive. I appreciate thoughtful leaders for coming together to create a powerful collaboration that will benefit our community for generations to come.
