Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese More than 500 people gathered at Garden Spot High School stadium recently to welcome home 13 Lancaster area Vietnam veterans who were returning from a trip of a lifetime back to Vietnam. The trip was to help them psychologically heal and put the past behind them. Fundraisers that were held helped to pay the $3,400 price for each veteran, which covered their travel itinerary, meals and lodging. The group traveled all over Vietnam revisiting places they had been during their service time. The group traveled over 28 hours to get home and their bus was escorted to the stadium by the New Holland Legion Riders. The veterans had no idea the stadium was filled with so many people waiting to welcome them home and to honor their service. Upon arrival, a large crowd cheered for them. They were then lead to the stadium where an honor guard ushered them to an awaiting crowd of appreciative Americans, who had gathered to thank them for their service and give them the welcome home they deserved. The three photos show the veterans being welcomed to the stadium.
