During the week, we have virtual small groups and Bible studies and each Wednesday, we hold a churchwide prayer call. We truly have something for everyone here at Second-Ponce. THANK YOU, RANDY SCOGGINS For decades, Second-Ponce has offered a vibrant TV ministry welcoming viewers into our worship services and other church events. On Sunday, September 12, we celebrated this long-standing ministry and its steadfast leader, Randy Scoggins. We shared a video looking back at our TV ministry through the years. Randy Scoggins is a Georgian native, having been born at Kennestone Hospital. He attended Sprayberry High School and graduated from Georgia State University. He has been married to Carla for 43 years and they have two adult sons, Mark and Eric, and three grandchildren with a fourth on the way. Both sons and their families live in Pennsylvania. Randy was recruited as the part-time orchestra director by John Condra. After some time, Director of Communications was added to his responsibilities. He continues to serve the Television Ministry as a part-time contractor. He stays current on his trade by attending the annual National Association of Broadcaster convention. Randy is known as a gentle spirit and his favorite past-time is spending time with his family. He encourages his Television Ministry crew by providing donuts every week–his favorite is chocolate frosted cake! (Thank you, Ivy Anderson, for this wonderful info!)

IN THE LIFE OF OUR CHURCH SUMMER GIVING UPDATE FROM CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR JEFF MILLER I can hardly believe we're just days away from welcoming fall. As summer closes, I want to share with you the results of our June-August giving campaign.

Our goal was $450,000, and as of August 31, 2021, we received $390,263. Some of you may remember a different amount being announced in 11 a.m. worship on September 5. Prior to the service, I shared with Dock that we had ended the campaign at $420,000. That was an error on my part, and I apologize for the mistake. It’s never my intention to report the finances incorrectly and I hope you’ll forgive my oversight.

That being said, I want to thank each one of you for the way you rose to the challenge and gave to support this campaign. Your gifts made it possible to continue the current ministries of Second-Ponce and provided hope for future ones. I want to commend you on your faithfulness and sacrificial giving at a time when we face so much uncertainty.

Your giving matters and is appreciated! Your generosity along with those who have gone before us enabled Second-Ponce to make an impact in the lives of others this summer.

Some of the ways in which your gifts made a difference include: • A gift of $10,000 to BCM to help fight pandemic-related homelessness in Atlanta • A gift of $25,000 to Touching Miami with Love (TML) to replace the broken air conditioner at their Homestead location • A gift of 25 Chromebooks for the students at TML so they could participate in virtual learning • Sending a team on our Miami Mission Trip to teach children about the love of Jesus.

• Conduct VBS–both in person and virtually–for 50 children in Atlanta and around the world. The virtual option made it possible for children across the U.S. as well as 3 international students to participate.

• Gifts of $20,000 from our Medical Missions funds to provide healthcare to people living in Guatemala and Uganda.

• An investment in technology on our campus that made it possible for us to minister to those who cannot attend worship or Bible study in person.

This isn’t, by any stretch, an exhaustive list of how your gifts have impacted the lives of people around the world but I hope it gives you an idea of what we mean when we say that your giving provides strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. Thank you again for all you do to make ministry at Second-Ponce possible.
