ANTHEM My Eternal King Marshall Sanctuary Choir; Jack Mitchener, organ
My God, I love Thee; not because I hope for Heav’n thereby, Nor yet because who love Thee not May eternally die.
Thou, O my Jesus, Thou didst me Upon the cross embrace; For me didst bear the nails and spear, And manifold disgrace.
Then why, O blessed Jesus Christ, Should I not love Thee well? Not for the hope of winning Heaven, Or of escaping hell.
Not with the hope of gaining aught, Nor seeking a reward, But as Thyself hast loved me, O everlasting Lord!
E’en so I love Thee, and will love, And in Thy praise will sing, Solely because Thou art my God, And my eternal King.
Attributed to St. Francis Xavier (1506-1552) Translated by Rev. Edward Caswall (1814-1878)

MUSICAL MEDITATION “O rest in the Lord,” from Elijah Mendelssohn Rae Laury, soprano; SPdL Orchestra
CHORAL MEDITATION The Majesty and Glory of Your Name Fettke/Johnson Sanctuary Choir; SPdL Orchestra
When I gaze into the night sky And see the works of Your fingers The moon and stars Suspended in space Oh, what is man That You are mindful of him?
You have given man A crown of glory and honor And have made him
A little lower than the angels You have put him
In charge of all creation
The beasts of the field
The birds of the air The fish of the sea But what is man Oh, what is man That You are mindful of him?
O Lord, our God The majesty and glory Of Your name Transcends the earth And fills the heavens O Lord, our God Little children praise You perfectly And so would we And so would we Alleluia, Alleluia
The majesty and glory of Your name Alleluia, Alleluia
The majesty and glory of Your name Alleluia, Alleluia!

It's a great day to worship & we're glad you're here!
Here's some additional information you may find helpful today.
REQUESTING MORE INFO
Green Pew Card Use it to share as much information as you like and drop it in the offering plate. We understand that some people are hesitant to fill out church cards. It's true—a member of our pastoral staff will reach out, but you won't be flooded with communication. Engagement with us will be at your own pace. Complete it online at spdl.org/connectcard.
FINDING YOUR WAY AROUND
Restrooms & Water There are restrooms on each floor of the church. Bathrooms with changing tables are on the third floor down from the Fellowship Hall. Restrooms closest to the Sanctuary are near the church office. Water fountains are by the restrooms on each floor.
Emergency Care & First Aid Greeters and Bible study leaders can help you receive first aid before worship. If you need help during the service, see one of our uniformed officers just outside of the Sanctuary.
CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP
You may take your children (newborn–5th grade) to the Kids Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology when kids leave with children's ministry leaders (unless otherwise stated in the Order of Worship). After the service, pick them up in the Kids Club.

JOINING THE CHURCH
Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you to begin the process. If you're uncomfortable being in the spotlight, that's ok! Speak with one of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.
The flowers in the Sanctuary are given in gratitude and love for the SECOND-PONCE MUSIC MINISTRY whose talent adds to the joy and depth of our worship each week.

DISCIPLESHIP
FORTY WEEKS OF PRAYER | FINAL WEEK
WEEK 40 | May 4–10: Trusting God in Our Search
Read: Philippians 1:3–11 (NIV)
Pray: Father, instill in all the people of Second-Ponce a glorious vision of the future. May we be open to Your Holy Spirit’s leading, knowing You walk with us. We trust the leadership of SPdL to You. Instill a sense of trust by the church in the Pastor Search Committee as they listen and learn about possible candidates. Give them open hearts and unified, forward-focused minds. Give them endurance and commitment to complete the tasks required with joyful expectation and help the committee’s families during this busy time of the year. Expand the members’ time to serve, give them good health, and bless their work. We are excited to see the fruits of their labor and Your guidance. Amen. Thank you to Karen Harwell and the Discipleship Council for their meaningful work on this project.
SUPPER & SPdLU SERIES: BEING BAPTIST
Wed, May 7 | Fellowship Supper: 5 p.m. | Series: 6 p.m. | No Zoom What does it mean to be Baptist? Why does a Baptist identity matter? What does it look like to be Baptist in the church and in the world? Mercer's Baugh Center for Baptist Leadership asked these questions of four pastors and Baptist leaders and recorded their answers. During SPdLU, we'll watch these videos then engage in small group conversations. Menu: Chicken enchiladas, Mexican street corn, salad and desserts RSVP: By Noon, Mon, May 5
MONTHLY SMALL GROUP BOOK STUDY A YEAR WITH GOD
Sign up by May 21 Meetings via Zoom
Do you have trouble remaining faithful to spiritual practices in your life? Do you sometimes wish you had a few people with whom to discuss spiritual questions? If so, join our small group! Together we will read/work through the book A Year with God edited by Richard Foster and Julia Roller, discussing what God has revealed to us during each month. Led by Karen Harwell and the Discipleship Council, the study will be a mixture of personal reading, practice and reflection followed by group discussion and periodic group practice. We'll choose a meeting days/times based on the group who signs up. RSVP by May 21. For more information and to sign up, contact Karen Harwell (kharwell@spdl.org).
SUMMER OF STRENGTHS
Target start date: June 1
During the “Summer of Strengths,” we’ll unpack what we’ve learned from the Clifton Strengths assessment and practice applying it in our lives. After taking the assessment, group members will meet 3-4 times over the summer (depending on how many participants sign up) to discuss what they are learning and how they are growing into their God-given talents and gifts. A day/time for our Zoom meetings will be chosen by those who commit to participating. If you’ve already taken the assessment, you’re all ready to start. Contact Karen Harwell (kharwell@spdl.org) for more information and to sign up. Interested in taking the assessment, but can’t fit the group meetings into your schedule? We can still assign an access code for you to take the assessment free of charge and Karen will review the results with you individually.

COMMUNITY
PRIME TIMERS' PUZZLE POTLUCK "PICNIC"

Bring your favorite picnic side or dessert to share (NOT required). RSVP to Vicki McCaskey (404.591.4344 | vmccaskey@spdl.org) by May 8, and let her know if you are bringing a side dish or dessert.
LET'S GET "ORGAN"IZED
Wed, May 21 | After Fellowship Supper Sanctuary
Have you ever wanted to learn how the pipe organ works? What do all of those buttons and knobs do? Why are there so many keyboards? Does the organist really play notes with his feet? Discover the answers to these questions and many more when SPdL organist Jack Mitchener gives a demonstration of the magnificent organ in our Sanctuary.
MISSIONS
COST OF POVERTY EXPERIENCE (COPE)
Sun, May 18 4:30–7:30 p.m. Fellowship Hall Dinner Included | Cost: Free
The Cost of Poverty Experience is a simulation, in partnership with Buckhead Christian Ministry, that explores the lived experience of poverty firsthand through the eyes of real families. The experiential nature of this training helps communities more deeply understand the human and systemic impacts of poverty. After the experience, we'll eat dinner together and discuss how we can rethink poverty, respond effectively and partner with those affected for change. Sign up at www.spdl.org/events.
THE KIDS CLUB
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL | TRUE NORTH
Mon, June 2–Fri, June 6 | 9 a.m.–Noon | $35/child
During this year's VBS, we'll guide kids on the ultimate Alaskan adventure! As children trek the tundra, they’ll explore how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. True North VBS points them toward Jesus and shows He is a faithful friend we can always trust. Register a child or sign up to volunteer at www.spdl.org/vbs.
We need tents and fake Christmas trees to help set the scene for VBS. Allie has also created an Amazon Wishlist for those who prefer a different way to contribute. Scan this code to learn more about loaning and/or purchasing decor.
