CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP

WELCOME Rev. Jonathan Hall

INVITATION TO WORSHIP Rev. Hall

HYMN NO. 306 Come, Christians, Join to Sing MADRID

LITANY Mary Carlton

Leader: Let this be the welcoming place, the place of return–

People: Let it be built by a love that bends towards those who return here.

Leader: For it is a love that has been waiting, like a candle in the window, ever lighting the way back, and never willing to let go–

People: The hope that each child will return home.

Leader: Let it be the place where the only appropriate response to love that has come to the end of its longing is to kill the fatted calf, feast and celebrate, send up balloons, and prepare the party–

People: For that which has been lost has returned to be among us once more.

WELCOME TO SPdL

It's a great day to worship & we're glad you're here!

Here's some additional information you may find helpful today.

REQUESTING MORE INFO

Green Pew Card Use it to share as much information as you like and drop it in the offering plate. We understand that some people are hesitant to fill out church cards. It's true—a member of our pastoral staff will reach out, but you won't be flooded with communication. Engagement with us will be at your own pace. Complete it online at spdl.org/connectcard.

FINDING YOUR WAY AROUND

Restrooms & Water There are restrooms on each floor of the church. Bathrooms with changing tables are on the third floor down from the Fellowship Hall. Restrooms closest to the Sanctuary are near the church office. Water fountains are by the restrooms on each floor.

Emergency Care & First Aid Greeters and Bible study leaders can help you receive first aid before worship. If you need help during the service, see one of our uniformed officers just outside of the Sanctuary.

CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP

You may take your children (newborn–5th grade) to the Kids Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology when kids leave with children's ministry leaders (unless otherwise stated in the Order of Worship). After the service, pick them up in the Kids Club.

JOINING THE CHURCH

Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you to begin the process. If you're uncomfortable being in the spotlight, that's ok! Speak with one of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.

NEW SERMON SERIES

SPEAKING JESUS

From Rev. Ronnie Brewer

Beginning Sunday June 29, I will begin a weekly journey with you through the Sermon on the Mount. We will go through all Jesus said in His longest recorded message.

With a pastoral transition drawing nearer, Second-Ponce is at a crossroad—a great opportunity for renewal and clarity of mission. There is no clearer definition of the mission of this church, and all of the disciples in it, than being followers of Jesus.

Let's listen to Jesus speak and guide us during these important days. Hearing Jesus isn't always easy, or without risk. It takes courage, but really is the way ahead for this church. Begin reading Matthew 5–7 now and prepare to let Jesus speak.

WELCOMING THE HUGHES

MARTHA AND MAX HUGHES

are joining Second-Ponce as part of our homebound ministry, and we could not be more excited to welcome them! Over the last several years, the Hughes have formed a connection to SPdL by faithfully watching our worship services on TV. And now, they have decided to officially join our church family.

After marrying in 1956, the Hughes lived in Clayton County, GA for 40 years where Max worked for Delta and Martha was employed by the school district. They've been long-time members of First Baptist Church Jonesboro where Max—an Air Force Veteran—served as Deacon and participated in church starts in Africa and South America.

They currently live in Canton, GA, and are the proud parents of three, grandparents of six and great grandparents of eight.

June 15,

WELCOME

Then the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly, bring out a robe—the best one—and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate, for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!’ And they began to celebrate. –Luke 15:21–24
