The flowers in the Sanctuary are given in celebration of SPdL YOUTH & FAMILIES for their leadership and creativity as the next generation of faith leaders.

It's a great day to worship & we're glad you're here!

Here's some additional information you may find helpful today.

REQUESTING MORE INFO

Green Pew Card Use it to share as much information as you like and drop it in the offering plate. We understand that some people are hesitant to fill out church cards. It's true—a member of our pastoral staff will reach out, but you won't be flooded with communication. Engagement with us will be at your own pace. Complete it online at spdl.org/connectcard.

FINDING YOUR WAY

AROUND

Restrooms & Water There are restrooms on each floor of the church. Bathrooms with changing tables are on the third floor down from the Fellowship Hall. Restrooms closest to the Sanctuary are near the church office. Water fountains are by the restrooms on each floor.

Emergency Care & First Aid Greeters and Bible study leaders can help you receive first aid before worship. If you need help during the service, see one of our uniformed officers just outside of the Sanctuary.

CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP

You may take your children (newborn–5th grade) to the Kids Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology when kids leave with children's ministry leaders (unless otherwise stated in the Order of Worship). After the service, pick them up in the Kids Club.

JOINING THE CHURCH

Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you to begin the process. If you're uncomfortable being in the spotlight, that's ok! Speak with one of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.

SPECIAL SUNDAYS

MUSIC MINISTRY SUNDAY

Sun, May 4 | During Worship

We're in for a real treat Sunday, May 4, with the annual Music Ministry worship service!

Our talented Sanctuary Choir, SPdL Orchestra and handbells will come together to lead us in anthems, musical meditations, hymns, Scripture and prayer. While this service does not have a sermon, you'll certainly hear and feel the Word of God throughout this powerful hour. Don't miss it!

CELEBRATING OUR GRADUATES

Sun, May 18 | Grad Breakfast: 9:30 a.m. Recognition in Worship

Join us for worship on Sunday, May 18, as we celebrate our high school and college graduates! Help us recognize their awesome achievements by submitting a photo of your graduate, the name of their high school or university and any future plans to Jonathan Hall at jhall@spdl.org. NOTE: Submissions after the deadline of Tues, May 13, will not be included in the worship bulletin.

MISSIONS IN MAY

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY

Sat, May 3 | Distribution: 1:30–3:30 p.m. | Volunteer Hours: 12–4 p.m.

In partnership with the Atlanta Food Bank and Toco Hills Community Alliance, we're hosting a mobile food bank for the Buckhead area. Folks in need are welcome to pick up FREE and FRESH produce without registration or documentation. Come by car or on foot; ALL ARE WELCOME! We need around 25 volunteers to help make this much needed opportunity a success. Reach out to Allie (aosborne@spdl.org) to help.

COST OF POVERTY EXPERIENCE (COPE)

Sun, May 18 | 4:30–7:30 p.m. | Fellowship Hall | Dinner Included Cost: Free

The Cost of Poverty Experience is a simulation, in partnership with Buckhead Christian Ministry, that explores the lived experience of poverty firsthand through the eyes of real families. The experiential nature of this training helps communities more deeply understand the human and systemic impacts of poverty. After the experience, we'll eat dinner together and discuss how we can rethink poverty, respond effectively and partner with those affected for change. Sign up at www.spdl.org/events.

40 WEEKS OF PRAYER

WEEK 39 Apr. 27–May 3: Prepare Our Hearts

Read: Luke 24:13–34

Pray: Father, we long for days when Jesus feels so close that our hearts feel His presence. We long for the excitement the disciples had when they broke bread with their risen Lord. Return us individually and as a church to those days of excitement for Your presence and ministry. Help us to “not waste a minute” in telling others of Your love and sharing the truth of the resurrection. Keep us faithful in prayer for the pastor search as it enters a crucial phase. Prepare our hearts for the leader You have for us and prepare the heart of the leader You have in mind. Amen.

WEDNESDAYS

SUPPER & SPdLU SERIES: BEING BAPTIST

Wed, April 30 | Fellowship Supper: 5 p.m. Series: 6 p.m. | No Zoom

What does it mean to be Baptist? Why does a Baptist identity matter? What does it look like to be Baptist in the church and in the world? Mercer's Baugh Center for Baptist Leadership asked these questions of four pastors and Baptist leaders and recorded their answers. During SPdLU, we'll watch these videos then engage in small group conversations. Menu: Cheeseburgers, baked beans, fries, salad and dessert

RSVP: By Noon, Mon, Apr. 28

LET'S GET "ORGAN"IZED

Wed, May 21 After Fellowship Supper | Sanctuary

Have you ever wanted to learn how the pipe organ works? What do all of those buttons and knobs do? Why are there so many keyboards? Does the organist really play notes with his feet? Discover the answers to these questions and many more when SPdL organist Jack Mitchener gives a demonstration of the magnificent organ in our Sanctuary.

SMALL GROUPS

YOUNG ADULT PUB THEOLOGY

Sat, May 3 | 7 p.m. Bold Monk Brewing | Cost: Free

In partnership with FBC Decatur and The Collective Atlanta, young adults are meeting to discuss, "What if doubt strengthens faith?" RSVP at www.spdl.org.events.

PRIME TIMERS' PUZZLE POTLUCK "PICNIC"

Tues, May 13 | Noon Fellowship Hall

Join us for an indoor "picnic" where we solve a few puzzles and enjoy fellowship together. Curious? We’re talking more than jigsaws! Fried chicken and drinks will be provided. Bring your favorite picnic side or dessert to share (NOT required). RSVP to Vicki McCaskey (404.591.4344 | vmccaskey@spdl.org) by May 8, and let her know if you are bringing a side dish or dessert.

THE KIDS CLUB

KIDS CLUB OUTER SPACE FRIYAY Fri, May 2 | 5:30–9 p.m. | Ages 0–5th grade $15/child

Get ready for an out-of-this-world evening for kids that includes a meal, a Bible story, games, and crafts while parents can enjoy some time together! Children ages 0-5th grade are welcome! Cost is $15/child and space is limited! Sign up at www.spdl.org/events.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL | TRUE NORTH

Mon, June 2–Fri, June 6 | 9 a.m.–Noon $35/child

During this year's VBS, we'll guide kids on the ultimate Alaskan adventure! As children trek the tundra, they’ll explore how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. True North VBS points them toward Jesus and shows He is a faithful friend we can always trust. Register a child or sign up to volunteer at www.spdl.org/vbs.

We need tents and fake Christmas trees to help set the scene for VBS. Allie has also created an Amazon Wishlist for those who prefer a different way to contribute. Scan this code to learn more about loaning and/or purchasing decor.
