WELCOME & INVOCATION Jonathan Hall

SCRIPTURE Psalm 23 Rev. Allie Osborne

Congregation: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

WORSHIP OF GOD

Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 11 a.m.

WE LOVE MEETING NEW PEOPLE

Welcome to worship at Second-Ponce! We hope you find this hour to be joyful and transformative. Our church has something for everyone, and not just on Sundays. During the week, we have special dinners, small groups and Bible studies. Wednesday evenings, we share Fellowship Supper followed by adult discipleship and ageappropriate activities for children and teens. We hope you'll join us! And now that you know a little about us, help us get to know you better by completing the blue or green card located in the pew rack and hand it to a minister or drop it in the offering plate.

HOW TO JOIN

Jonathan Hall

Dr. Hollingsworth

POSTLUDE Hymn of Majesty and Power (How Great Thou Art) arr. Thallander Verleen Baerg, organ

SHARING HER SPDL STORY

Becky Smith and her husband, Jim, joined Second-Ponce in 2009 after moving to Atlanta from Berlin, Germany. They served in foreign missions in German-speaking Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and then globally in missions administration for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Becky is Chair of the Worship Council and sings in the Sanctuary Choir. Jim and Becky are parents of two adult children and enjoy spending time with their four grandchildren.

Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you with warmth and joy. If you're uncomfortable being "in the spotlight," but still want to join–that's ok! Speak with of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternative plan.

ADDITIONAL SUNDAY INFORMATION

CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP

We love to see children at Second-Ponce, and we have a Kids’ Club area just for them! It's one floor up from the Sanctuary, and our greeters will be happy to show you the way. In the Kids' Club, there’s a nursery and Kids Worship for babies–5th grade. You may take your children to the Kids' Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology (when kids leave with children's ministry leaders). After worship, pick them up in the Kids’ Club.

SHARING PRAYER REQUESTS

At Second-Ponce, you have a church family who welcomes the opportunity to join you in prayer. Let us know your prayer needs by filling out a request card located on the back of the pew rack. You can drop it in the offering plate or give it to a member of the Second-Ponce ministerial staff after worship.

GIVING AN OFFERING

Your financial support of Second-Ponce allows us to carry out the mission God has for our church. There are giving cards in the pew racks that utilize a QR code for making gifts online. You may also drop your offering in the offering plate.

MAY PRAYER FOCUS: WRITING TO GOD

In times of war, soldiers stay connected with their loved ones by writing letters home. Troops could say “I love you” and “I miss you” in those deeply personal notes. Writing to God is similar to those letters. Since the Lord is our true home, we continue saying, "I love you," but we can also add our sincere cries for help when we write to God. Beginning Wednesday, May 3, find this May prayer practice resource in the Welcome Center and online at www.spdl.org/prayer.
