CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP Lift Every Voice and Sing HYMN NO. 158

Jesus Shall Reign

WELCOME AND INVOCATION SCRIPTURE

DUKE STREET

Bill Gabbard

O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He is to be revered above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts. Worship the Lord in holy splendor; Tremble before Him, all the earth. HYMN NO. 479

Welcome to Second-Ponce! You belong here, and we hope you'll come back. We meet for worship Sundays at 11 a.m. in our beautiful Sanctuary, but if you can't be with us in person, we invite you to watch online on our Facebook page or at www.livestream.com/spdl. During the week, we have virtual small groups and Bible studies and each Wednesday, we hold a churchwide prayer call, an adult discipleship study and age-appropriate activities for children and teens. We truly have something for everyone here at Second-Ponce. Help us get to know you better by completing a Connect card located in the pew rack. Simply hand it to a minister or drop it in the offering plate as you leave.

Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where our Senior Pastor or a Second-Ponce minister will greet you with warmth and joy.

HOW CAN WE PRAY FOR YOU? At Second-Ponce, you have a church family who welcomes the opportunity to join you in prayer. In fact, we consider this act an honor. Let us know how we can pray for you by filling out a prayer card located in the pew rack. You can drop it in the offering plate located in the Narthex or give it to a member of the Second-Ponce ministerial staff after worship.

Psalm 96: 1–9

WORSHIP OF GOD

Written in 1900 as part of President Lincoln’s birthday celebration, James Weldon Johnson’s Lift Every Voice and Sing has become an enduring musical source of comfort and strength for those in the ongoing struggle for social justice and racial reconciliation. Sung for generations in Black/African American churches, this powerful song is now embraced by people of faith of all colors. It is important to remember that the American civil rights movement’s first national leaders were Christian ministers, and we join with people of faith across the nation this month in thanking God for His gracious providence and continuing reminder that we “are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).

Your financial support of Second-Ponce allows us to carry out the mission God has for our church. We're grateful for your faithfulness to give as you are able. There are giving cards in the pew racks that utilize a QR code for making gifts online. You may also drop your offering in the offering plate located in the Narthex after the service.
