Christmas Eve
By Christina Rossetti
Christmas hath darkness brighter than the blazing noon, Christmas hath a chillness warmer than the heat of June, Christmas hath a beauty lovelier than the world can show: For Christmas bringeth Jesus, brought for us so low. Earth, strike up your music, birds that sing and bells that ring; Heaven hath answering music for all Angels soon to sing: Earth, put on your whitest bridal robe of spotless snow; For Christmas bringeth Jesus, brought for us so low. HYMN NO. 132 READING
It Came Upon the Midnight Clear Ode On The Morning Of Christ’s Nativity By John Milton
This is the month, and this the happy morn, Wherein the Son of Heav'n's eternal King, Of wedded Maid, and Virgin Mother born, Our great redemption from above did bring; For so the holy sages once did sing, That he our deadly forfeit should release, And with his Father work us a perpetual peace. That glorious Form, that Light unsufferable, And that far-beaming blaze of Majesty, Wherewith he wont at Heav'n's high council-table, To sit the midst of Trinal Unity, He laid aside, and here with us to be,
Angelyn and Noel Turner met through the single adult ministry when Angelyn came to Second-Ponce following college. Noel was raised in the church and their sons, Carson and Charles—a fourth generation of Turner members—grew up in the church. Angelyn shares her musical talent by leading in our children’s music programs and singing alto in the Sanctuary Choir. Angelyn will be ordained as a deacon in January and Noel has served on the active deacon board multiple times. Both are members of the New Covenant class. Their family loves baseball and is infamous for including their dog, Rip, in the pictorial directory
Say Heav'nly Muse, shall not thy sacred vein Afford a present to the Infant God? Hast thou no verse, no hymn, or solemn strain, To welcome him to this his new abode, Now while the heav'n, by the Sun's team untrod, Hath took no print of the approaching light, And all the spangled host keep watch in squadrons bright? See how from far upon the eastern road The star-led wizards haste with odours sweet: O run, prevent them with thy humble ode, And lay it lowly at his blessed feet; Have thou the honour first thy Lord to greet, And join thy voice unto the angel quire, From out his secret altar touch'd with hallow'd fire.
LEADING OUR OFFERTORY PRAYER Dock Hollingsworth became Senior Pastor at Second-Ponce in 2013, following an 18-year career with Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology. Dock is married to Melissa—a retired elementary school teacher who now teaches two mornings a week in the church’s preschool. Dock and Melissa are parents to adult twins, Haley and Brendan, and they have two grandchildren, Cooper and Lucy.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
God rest ye merry, gentlemen, let nothing you dismay, remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas day, to save us all from Satan's pow'r when we were gone astray;

While By My Sheep O Little Town of Bethlehem
WORSHIP OF GOD
CAROL George Volkert
Refrain: O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy, O tidings of comfort and joy. From God our heav'nly Father, a blessed angel came; and unto certain shepherds brought tidings of the same: how that in Bethlehem was born the son of God by name [Refrain] "Fear not, then," said the angel, "let nothing you affright; this day is born a Savior of a pure virgin bright, to free all those who trust in him from Satan's pow'r and might." [Refrain] The shepherds at those tidings rejoiced much in mind, and left their flocks a-feeding, in tempest, storm, and wind, and went to Bethlehem straightway, the Son of God to find.
