SCRIPTURE Psalm 40:1–5; 8; 11 Bill Gabbard
Leader: I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry.
Congregation: He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.
Leader: He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.
Congregation: Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.
Leader: Happy are those who make the Lord their trust, who do not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after false gods.
Congregation: You have multiplied, O Lord my God, Your wondrous deeds and Your thoughts toward us; none can compare with You.
Leader: Were I to proclaim and tell of them, they would be more than can be counted. I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart.”
Congregation: Do not, O Lord, withhold Your mercy from me; let Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness keep me safe forever.

Welcome to worship at Second-Ponce! You belong here, and we hope you'll come back. We truly have something for everyone, and not just on Sundays. During the week, we have virtual small groups and Bible studies. Each Wednesday evening, we have Fellowship Supper, an adult discipleship study and age-appropriate activities for children and teens. Now that you know a little about us, help us get to know you better by completing the blue or green card located in the pew rack. Simply hand it to a minister or drop it in the offering plate.
Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where our Senior Pastor or a Second-Ponce minister will greet you with warmth and joy.
We love to see children at Second-Ponce, and we have a Kids’ Club area just for them! It's one floor up from the Sanctuary, and our greeters will be happy to show you the way. In the Kids' Club, there’s a nursery for babies through pre-K and Kids Worship for children K through 5th grade. You can take your children to Kids Worship before the service or, if you’d prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for either the entire hour or until the Doxology and then go with our children's ministry leaders. You'll pick them up in the Kids’ Club area after worship.
At Second-Ponce, you have a church family who welcomes the opportunity to join you in prayer. Let us know by filling out a prayer request card located on the back of the pew rack. You can drop it in the offering plate or give it to a member of the SecondPonce ministerial staff after worship.
Heather Hubble and her husband, Robert, have been members of Second-Ponce since 2010. They are department directors in the Relát Sunday School class and are active in family ministries with their children, Alaina and Nathan. Heather led the team in planning last year's local IF:Gathering for Women and has also served on the Women’s Retreat Planning Team. Heather is an architect with 18 years of experience in commercial, mixed use, civic and eccelastical architecture. She enjoys spending time with her family traveling, camping and hiking.
Your financial support of Second-Ponce allows us to carry out the mission God has for our church. There are giving cards in the pew racks that utilize a QR code for making gifts online. You may also drop your offering in the offering plate.

2023
Friday, March 3 6:30–9 p.m. & Saturday, March 4 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Together, we’re reclaiming discipleship as God’s means to change the world. SPdL is offering two ways to participate:
• In Dallas, Texas: The in-person conference will be held at Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas. A generous church member has already paid the registration fee for 10 participants, so your cost is the airfare and hotel room (Around $350 for both). The group will fly out Friday, March 3 and return the evening of Saturday, March 4. Please contact Allie if you need financial assistance: aosborne@spdl.org. For flight and hotel information, email womensministry@spdl.org.
• At Second-Ponce: If you're unable to make the trip to Dallas or prefer to stay local, you can still participate in the conference with our remote group! Meals, snacks and childcare are free, so your cost is the $19 registration fee.
Questions? Email Heather Hubble or Gayle Suggs: womensministry@spdl.org.
The word "examen" means to find the true weight or an accurate measurement of things. The Examen helps develop an awareness of God's presence in our lives.
Saint Ignatius of Loyola was a Spanish priest and author of the Prayer of Examen. Ignatius was born into a family culture of aggression. His earnest desire was to advance his military career in the service of the King. While Ignatius feared nothing, he was critically injured on the battlefield in 1521. Doctors told him to confess and prepare to die. God instead used his lengthy and isolated healing journey to prepare him to humbly serve the Kingdom of God. Ignatius believed that to lovingly serve one’s neighbor was the highest form of prayer.
When seventy-five Atlantans used the examen for one month, positive outcomes were identified:
• Three-fourths of participants felt they grew spiritually.
• More than seventy-five percent believed the examen helped them sense something about themselves of which they were unaware.
• Most felt a deepened sense of gratitude.
• Several participants were led to contact someone from their past.
• Most people found the prayer to be life-giving.
• Eighty-five percent shared they expected God to show up in daily life.
• Most people found evidence of grace in their life.
