Trump said the measure was spurred by a makeshift flamethrower attack on a Jewish protest in Colorado that US authorities blamed on a man they said was in the country illegally.

President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Wednesday evening that bars most travel to the United States from 12 nations and imposes narrower limits on seven others, citing security concerns and inadequate vetting.

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on 9 June, nationals of Afghanistan, Myanmar (Burma), Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen will be denied entry. Partial restrictions

Elon Musk's DOGE exit leaves leadership vacuum at unit

Elon Musk's departure from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has created a leadership vacuum in the federal cost-cutting initiative. Musk, who served as a special government employee, exited the project after criticizing President Donald Trump's tax and spending policies. His deputy, Steve Davis, also stepped down, leaving DOGE without its top leadership.

The White House announced that DOGE will now be overseen by President Trump's cabinet secretaries and affiliated consultants. However, the absence of Musk raises concerns about the sustainability of DOGE's aggressive cost-cutting strategy, which had prompted thousands of federal employees to resign or retire early.

The future of DOGE remains uncertain, especially given the reliance on Musk's leadership and the controversial tactics used to downsize government operations. While the initiative claims over $175 billion in savings, independent analyses question the accuracy of these figures.

Musk's tenure at DOGE was marked by controversial measures, including cutting foreign aid and laying off federal workers, sparking protests and boycotts targeting Tesla, Musk’s company.

keeping America safe.”

will apply to Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.

Lawful permanent residents, travellers who already hold valid visas, certain visa classes and anyone whose arrival is judged to be in the “national interest” are exempt.

A White House official said the president had been weighing the measure for weeks but finalised it after Sunday’s antisemitic attack in Boulder, Colorado. Deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson hailed the move as a campaign promise kept, arguing that the targeted countries fail to share intelligence, have high visa-overstay rates or lack reliable identity-verification systems.

In a video statement, Mr Trump warned that the list would be updated as “threats emerge,” adding that no obstacle would “stop us from

The order follows an inauguralday directive instructing the State Department and other agencies to identify governments that provide insufficient screening data. It is also the latest in a series of immigration restrictions adopted since Mr Trump began his second term in January; earlier actions suspended refugee admissions and froze funding for flights carrying Afghan specialimmigrant-visa holders.

Critics point out that the ban could strand Afghans who worked with U.S. forces during the twodecade war, echoing controversies over the administration’s firstterm prohibition on travellers from several Muslim-majority countries, which was overturned by President Joe Biden in 2021 after a series of court battles.

Indian Students Are Deleting Social Media Posts, Accounts For US Visas: Report

Indian students are growing anxious over the Trump administration’s plan to mandate social media vetting for all international student visa applicants. Under the new rule, applicants must disclose social media handles used in the past five years on platforms like Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

The move follows last year’s pro-Palestine protests on U.S. campuses after Israel’s bombing of Gaza. Visa counsellors warn that political posts, jokes, or even “likes” could lead to rejections. Sudden deletion of accounts may also raise suspicion.

Indian students are increasingly growing anxious over the Trump administrations plans to mandate social media vetting before approving visas for all international students seeking to study in the United States.

Trump Threatens Columbia's Accreditation

The US administration has now made an attempt to strip Columbia University of its accreditation, stating that it failed to meet the criteria because of inadequate protection of Jewish students.

"After Hamas' October 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel, Columbia University's leadership acted with deliberate indifference towards the harassment of Jewish students on its campus," stated US Secretary of Education Linda McMahon on Wednesday in a letter, per a BBC report. "Accreditors have an enormous public responsibility as gatekeepers of federal student aid," McMahon added in the letter, saying that Columbia's actions were “immoral” and “unlawful”.

Musk urges Americans to tell lawmakers to 'kill the bill'

Elon Musk hit out at President Donald Trump's signature tax and spending bill again on Wednesday, calling on Americans to tell their representatives in Washington to "kill the bill". The budget, which includes huge tax breaks and more defence spending, was passed by the House of Representatives last month and is now being considered by senators.

The tech billionaire posted on X earlier this week that the bill would add to the US budget deficit and saddle Americans with "crushing" debt.

On Tuesday, he described it as a "disgusting abomination", in a widening rift between the two.

Mamta Shekhawat of Gradding.com explained that U.S. authorities use online behaviour to assess character and verify that an applicant’s goals align with their visa. “Even minor political content, when seen collectively, can be flagged,” she said.

The U.S. is reportedly using AI tools to detect content supporting extremist views. Education consultant Meenal Damani advises students to avoid engaging in political discourse online entirely. Many students are now deleting posts, accounts, or apps. Suraj, accepted into an Ivy League school, deleted his LinkedIn after a counsellor’s warning. A JNU scholar lost a U.S. postdoc opportunity and wiped his social media, fearing past posts on Palestine and politics could cost him future chances.

The bill has the backing of President Donald Trump and would be the legislative linchpin of his second-term agenda if it passes Congress. "Shame on those who voted for it," said Musk on Tuesday, hinting that he may try to unseat the politicians responsible at next year's midterm elections.

Musk left the administration abruptly last week after 129 days working to cut costs with his team, known as Doge. The comments mark his first public disagreement with Trump since leaving government, after having previously called the plan "disappointing".

Soon after Musk's tweet on Wednesday, the White House sent out a "myth buster" statement, calling any assertion that the bill would lead to higher deficits a "hoax"

Putin Will Respond to Ukraine Drone Strike: Trump

Washington

DC / Moscow:

US President Donald Trump revealed on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed to respond to Ukraine’s bold drone attack deep inside Russian territory. The two leaders spoke for over an hour, with Trump stating, “Putin said very strongly that he will have to respond.”

On Sunday, Ukraine launched what analysts are calling one of the most daring drone strikes in modern warfare, targeting key Russian air bases far from the front lines. The attack reportedly destroyed dozens of strategic Russian aircraft, including bombers and surveillance planes, striking air bases such as Belaya, Olenya, Ivanovo Severny, Dyagilevo, and Ukrainka—some located up to 8,000 km from Ukraine.

Trump Putin Phone Call: "Putin said very strongly that he will have to respond to Ukraine's drone attack," President Trump said immediately after getting off the phone with his Russian counterpart.

Despite the devastating impact on Russian assets, peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow proceeded the next day, although tensions have escalated since. Trump confirmed

NZ MP Shows AI Nude to Highlight Deepfake Threat

New Zealand MP Laura McClure bravely took a stand against the growing threat of deepfake technology in a shocking display last month, holding up a manipulated, naked image of herself on the floor of Parliament. The image, which McClure revealed had taken less than five minutes to create online, was censored for broadcast purposes but served as a powerful illustration of the potential dangers posed by deepfakes.

"This image is a naked image of me, but it's not real," she told the House on Wednesday (May 14).

Discussing the dangers of deepfakes, she added, "For the victims, it is degrading, and it is devastating. It gave me the creeps having to stand in Parliament and hold up the photo of myself, even knowing that it's not actually me."

Sharing the image on her own Instagram account, she wrote, "Today in Parliament, I showed an AI-generated nude deepfake of myself to show how real - and easythese are to create. The problem isn't the tech itself, but how it's being misused to abuse people. Our laws need to catch up."

that the two leaders also discussed Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He emphasized that both agree Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons.

“Putin suggested he may play a role in talks with Iran to help reach a swift resolution,” Trump posted on Truth Social, adding, “Time is running out.”

He described the call as “good, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate peace.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that 41 Russian military jets were destroyed in the containertruck-concealed drone attack.

The unprecedented scale and reach of the assault have boosted Ukraine’s morale while dealing a blow to Russia’s strategic confidence. The situation remains fluid as both sides brace for potential escalation.

China says US has 'severely violated' tariffs truce

China says the US has "severely violated" their trade truce and that it will take strong measures to defend its interests.

China's Ministry of Commerce said Washington has "seriously undermined" the agreement reached during talks in Geneva last month, when both countries lowered tariffs on goods imported from each other.

The spokesperson added that US actions have also severely violated the consensus reached during a phone call in January between China's leader Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump.

The comments come after Trump said on Friday that China had "totally violated its agreement with us".

The US President did not give details but Trade Representative Jamieson Greer later said China had not been removing non-tariff barriers as agreed under the deal.

Under the trade truce struck in May at a meeting in Geneva, the US lowered tariffs imposed on goods from China from 145% to 30%. China's retaliatory tariffs on US goods dropped from 125% to 10%.

On Monday, Beijing said US violations of the agreement included stopping sales of computer chip design software to Chinese companies, warning against using chips made by Chinese tech giant Huawei, and cancelling visas for Chinese students.

The deal reached in Geneva came as a surprise to many analysts as it seemed that the two sides were incredibly far apart on many trade issues. This showed that during face-to-face talks Washington and Beijing can reach agreements. But as the rhetoric is once again ratcheting up, the fragility of the current truce has been highlighted and gives an indication of just how challenging it may be to reach a longer-term trade deal.

Humanity Is Failing, Situation In Gaza Now Worse Than Hell: Red Cross Chief

Humanity is failing in Gaza, warned Mirjana Spoljaric, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, according to whom it is becoming unbearable to watch the suffering of the people unfold daily in the wartorn Palestinian region. The situation has "gone beyond any acceptable legal, moral, and humane standards", she said in an interview to the BBC. A few weeks ago, during her visit to Gaza, the anguished Red Cross chief had remarked that Gaza has become hell on Earth. Speaking to BBC's Jeremy Bowen on Tuesday, she said "Gaza is now worse than hell".

Iran Rejects Nuclear Deal Amid US Threats

On Saturday, the United States said that a new offer for the nuclear deal has been shared with Iran, which the latter confirmed. In a White House daily briefing on Tuesday, Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said that US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff “has sent a detailed and acceptable proposal to the Iranian regime, and it's in their best interest to accept it. And if not, they will face grave consequences as the president himself has reiterated."

She added that “President Trump has made it clear that Iran can never obtain a nuclear bomb,” Leavitt added. “Under our potential Agreement — WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Tanzania announces shutdown of X because of pornography

Tanzania has decided to block access to social media platform X because it allows pornographic content to be shared, the information minister has said. The content was contrary to the East African state's "laws, culture, customs, and traditions," Jerry Silaa told a local TV station. Tanzanians have reported that access to X has been restricted in the last two weeks after political tensions rose and the police account was hacked, but there has not yet been a total shutdown of the platform.A Tanzanian rights group posted on X that Silaa's comments reflected a "troubling pattern of digital repression" ahead of October's presidential and parliamentary elections.

3 Teenagers, Youngest 13, All Under 40 Bengaluru: All the victims of the stampede tragedy at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy stadium are under 40, with a 13-year-old being the youngest. Among those dead are three teenagers and six people in the 20-30 years age group.

Five major points summarizing the causes of the RCB carnival stampede:

• Free Pass Confusion: Rumors of free passes and first-comefirst-served entry without clear instructions triggered chaos at the gates.

• Poor Crowd Control: Narrow entry points and absence of proper queue systems led to barricades collapsing, causing people to be trampled and suffocated.

• Police Force Shortage: A large part of the police was diverted to Vidhana Soudha, leaving the stadium severely understaffed despite crowd estimates exceeding 3 lakh.

• Contradictory Announcements: RCB’s public confirmation of the parade at 3:14 PM clashed with earlier police advisories warning against large-scale gatherings.

• Mismanagement and Prior Knowledge: Official correspondence on June 3 requesting permission for the event disproves government claims of a last-minute plan, exposing serious planning lapses.

K'taka Minister: 8 Lakh Attended Stampede Event

Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parmeshwara has claimed that approximately 8 lakh people descended upon Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium for Royal Challengers Bangalore's victory celebrations, which triggered a stampede and resulted in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to 47 on Tuesday evening. "We estimated that 1 lakh people were outside Vidhan Soudha and 25,000 outside the stadium. We did not expect that 2.5 lakh people would come. 8.70 lakh Metro tickets were sold. Assuming most were cricket fans, 8 lakh people showed up. There has been no previous instance of so many people gathering for cricket. It would have been a record had it gone well. I've spoken to RCB and spoken to the KSCA - they've told us their opinion," Dr Parmeshwara said

Stampede at RCB carnival: 11 die as crowd brims

Celebrations segued into tragedy on Wednesday as at least 11 people were killed in a stampede triggered by an upswell of crowd outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that tried to join a felicitation event to mark Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s maiden IPL victory.

The death toll, which included a woman and a 14-year-old girl, could go up.

Around 33 people have been admitted

to hospitals with injuries.

The felicitation of players, organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association, however, went ahead inside the packed stadium despite the chaos, but the much-awaited open-bus victory parade was cancelled. Sources said over two lakh people had turned up at the stadium against its capacity of 30,000.

The euphoria over the RCB’s victory after an 18-year wait was building up since the team lifted the IPL trophy on Tuesday night, with thousands of

Probe Into Biden, Cites Cognitive Decline

US President Donald Trump has ordered an official investigation into the actions of his predecessor Joe Biden, alleging that Biden’s aides may have masked his cognitive decline and taken executive actions on his behalf without his knowledge. The move follows an executive order signed on Wednesday directing Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House counsel David Warrington to lead the inquiry. According to The New York Times, the executive order aims to determine

whether several of Biden’s decisions while in office—such as presidential pardons and policy directives—are legally valid if made without Biden’s full awareness or signed using an autopen, a device that mechanically replicates a signature.

Central to Trump’s directive is the claim that Biden’s use of the autopen— employed by US presidents for decades— could invalidate certain executive documents. The executive order cited the device as a potential means for aides to usurp presidential authority.

The street party continued on Wednesday with lakhs converging at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, leaving the police outnumbered and struggling to control the situation.

The stampede broke out at 4.45pm outside the main gate of the stadium when hordes of people marched in from the Vidhana Soudha, the Karnataka Assembly 4km away where the cricketers were felicitated by the government.

Census, Caste Count in Two Phases from Next Year: Govt

The Centre on Wednesday announced the conduct of the decadal census, due since 2021, in two phases from next year. The caste census, a demand assiduously pursued by the Opposition, will be part of the exercise. The decadal census will be carried out with the reference date of October 1, 2026, in snow-bound areas such as Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir and of March 1, 2027, in the rest of the country, the Union home ministry said in a statement.

ICE Arrests Record Number Of Immigrants In A Single

Day In Its History: Report

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out over 2,200 arrests in a single day—its highest ever—amid reports that Trump aides Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem directed officials to target 3,000 daily arrests.

Those detained were enrolled in ICE’s Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program, which monitors undocumented immigrants deemed low risk via ankle monitors, checkins, and smartphone tracking. Many were called in ahead of schedule via mass texts and arrested upon arrival. One detainee, a 30-year-old Colombian man, was compliant with all ICE requirements, according to

Margaret Cargioli of the Immigrant Defenders Law Center. Seven people were seen taken in handcuffs into unmarked cars.

ICE claimed the detainees had final deportation orders. However, multiple lawyers say their clients had no such orders. Immigrants now fear arrest if they attend ICE appointments—and deportation if they don’t. Despite Trump’s goal to deport “millions,” former ICE officials argue it’s

Greg Chen from the American Immigration Lawyers Association said ICE’s methods are creating fear among immigrants. Jason Houser, former ICE chief of staff, called these arrests “bureaucratic theater,” targeting individuals already vetted and under supervision.

Kohli sleeps easy as RCB finally win big

Virat Kohli had to wait till almost midnight in Ahmedabad to rejoice the moment he had always waited for. He had to wait till he was 36, nearing the epilogue of his career, but he celebrated the moment as joyously as he would have in his 20s.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the final to clinch their first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The Rajat Patidar-led side, that has cricketing icon Virat Kohli, ended its 18-year long wait for a maiden IPL trophy. Opting to bowl first, PBKS restricted RCB to 190 for 9, with Arshdeep Singh (3 for 40) and Kyle Jamieson (3 for 48) being the major contributors. Virat Kohli was top-scorer for RCB with 43 off 35. RCB never got going in the innings and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In reply, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2 for 38) and Krunal Pandya (2 for 17) bowled magical spells to stop PBKS at 184 for 7 in 20 overs.

Early in the final over of the game, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s victory was virtually confirmed, Virat Kohli sunk his face into his

hands. After 18 years of expending everything for the only franchise he had turned up for, Kohli, jersey No. 18, knew he could finally kiss the elusive IPL trophy. When the game was officially over – RCB beat Punjab Kings by six runs, chasing 190 in Ahmedabad – he plunged to the turf and shed tears of joy. Later Kohli, emotional but articulate, spoke about his relentless pursuit of the IPL title. “I have given this team my youth, prime and experience. Tried to win it every season, gave it everything I can. Never thought this day would come, was overcome with emotion after we won,” he said, his voice choking. He did not forget his old RCB mate AB de Villiers, who was at the ground as television expert. “What ABD has done for the franchise is tremendous, told him ‘this is as much yours as it is ours’,” he said.

Ace shuttlers PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will spearhead India's challenge along with doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in the upcoming Indonesia Open 2025 badminton tournament, which is set to begin from Tuesday, as per Olympics.com. Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, meanwhile, will look to take another step after snapping a string of four consecutive first-round exits on the BWF World Tour with a pre-quarterfinal finish at the Singapore Badminton Open last week. Sindhu's best result this season remains a quarter-final appearance at the India Open. In the opener in Indonesia, the Indian shuttler will take on former world No. 1 and Olympic bronze medallist Nozomi Okuhara of Japan.

Rajeev Shukla to replace Binny as BCCI President next month: Source

Rajeev Shukla is set to become the next president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India next month, a source was quoted as saying by PTI. Roger Binny's nearing age limit is being considered the primary reason for the shift. Binny will turn 70 on July 19 this year and will surpass the age limit for President's position, according to the BCCI Constitution. Binny had taken over from former India captain Sourav Ganguly in 2022.

India to host ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 from September 30

The 2025 Women’s World Cup will be hosted in five venues across India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, the International Cricket Council said on Monday. Four venues have been listed in India and one in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will be the venue for all of Pakistan’s games. The venues that will host the matches are M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), and R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo).

Young Blood, Big Test: Gill’s India Take on England

As summer unfolds in England, Team India embarks on a pivotal five-match Test series—a fresh chapter in its cricketing journey. With stalwarts like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R. Ashwin having stepped away, a new generation, led by 25-year-old Shubman Gill, steps into the spotlight.

India’s 18-member squad blends emerging talent with experience. Gill, now India’s youngest Test captain since Pataudi, is backed by vice-captain Rishabh Pant and seasoned names like Bumrah and Jadeja. Promising players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Reddy, and Dhruv Jurel aim to seize this opportunity.

Key storylines include the return of Karun Nair—resurrecting his Test career after domestic heroics—and the inclusion of IPL standout Sai Sudharsan, poised for his red-ball debut. Historically, India has struggled in England, winning just

13% of Tests there. Yet this series is less about statistics and more about shaping a new legacy. The leadership transition is bold but calculated. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar acknowledged the difficulty of replacing legends but emphasized the opportunity for others to rise. Gill, known for his composure, now carries the dual burden of run-making and captaincy. "Captaining India in Tests is the pinnacle," he said, embracing the challenge. England’s swinging conditions will test this inexperienced side. But cricket thrives on such transitions—where the unknown becomes unforgettable. India hasn’t won a Test series in England since 2007. That may change—or not. What matters most is how this young team fights. Let’s not judge Gill by this series alone. A new era isn’t defined overnight—but this could be its first bold brushstroke.

Indian Man Critical After Aussie Cops Knee Neck

Kundi passed out after a cop allegedly kneed his neck, echoing the George Floyd case.

Canberra: An Indian-origin man, Gaurav Kundi, 42, is on life support after a violent encounter with police in Adelaide, Australia. Kundi, a father of two, reportedly suffered brain damage after being tackled and allegedly kneed in the neck by police during an arrest.

The incident occurred in Adelaide's eastern suburbs early Thursday when Kundi and his partner, Amritpal Kaur, were arguing. A police patrol, suspecting domestic violence, intervened despite Kaur stating that Kundi was only drunk and loud, not violent.

According to 9News, police claimed Kundi "violently resisted" arrest. Kaur filmed the arrest, capturing Kundi shouting, "I've done nothing wrong," while officers restrained him against a police car. Kaur alleges an officer drove a knee into Kundi’s neck, causing him to lose consciousness.

Kundi was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital with severe brain and neck injuries. Kaur fears he may not recover from his coma. South Australia Police have launched an internal investigation and are reviewing body-cam footage. Acting Assistant Commissioner John DeCandia said initial evidence suggests the officers acted appropriately, though the review is ongoing. The incident has drawn comparisons to the 2020 George Floyd case in the U.S.

"Losses Don’t Shake Professional Militaries": Defence Chief

Two days after seemingly admitting that India lost one of its jets during Operation Sindoor, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has now said that professional military forces are not affected by losses in a war, rather the achievement of its objectives was important.

Professional military forces are not affected by setbacks and losses in a war. What is important is that the morale needs to remain high even if there are setbacks, says General Chauhan

Delivering a lecture on ‘Future Wars and Warfare’ at the Savitribai Phule Pune University on Tuesday, Gen Chauhan outlined the evolving nature of global conflict. “Professional military forces are not affected by setbacks and losses in a war. What is important is that the morale needs to remain high even if there are setbacks,” CDS Chauhan said. “Adaptability is an important constituent of a very professional force. You should be able to understand what went wrong, need to rectify your mistake and go again. You cannot sit down in fear.”

Modi Likely to Skip G7 in Canada – First in 6 Years

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unlikely to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit being hosted by Canada later this month, marking the first time in six years he will miss the high-profile gathering of world leaders.

PM Modi has not received an official invitation for the June 15–17 summit in Alberta, and Indian officials say he was unlikely to travel to Canada even if one were issued. Strained bilateral relations, lingering tensions over proKhalistan separatist activities, and potential security concerns are among the key reasons, Times of India reported. A Canadian G7 spokesperson declined to confirm whether PM Modi would be invited. Pakistan Faces Severe Water Crisis Amid Extreme Heat, Indus Waters Shortage

Islamabad:

Pakistan's Punjab province may be looking ahead to a tough kharif (summer crops) sowing season amid a major water shortage in its Indus River system, comprising the Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab. Islamabad has said that two of its key damns-Tarbela on the Indus river and Mangla on the Jhelum river are running low on waters, while there has been a "sudden decrease" in Chenab River inflows after a short supply by India in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

The latest data released by the Pakistan government shows that the availability of water in the Indus River System (inside Pakistan's Punjab province)

has declined by 10.3 per cent as of 02 June, 2025, vis-a-vis 02 June, 2024. This situation may get worse in the coming weeks with the onset of the Southwest monsoon still at least four weeks away. According to Islamabad's Indus River System Authority (IRSA) -- which functions as a regulator to manage the distribution of water in the Indus River system inside Pakistan -- the

Ukraine's Op Spider Web Is Zelensky's Message To Russia - And Trump Too

New Delhi:

Shortly after Ukraine's surprise drone attack on Russian airfields, the Business Ukraine magazine posted on X: "Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky = King of Drones. Who 'doesn't have any cards' now?" The post accompanied a drawing of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a king on a card. Zelensky was seen holding swords, and several drones were drawn on the card. The message was unmissable. In March

Kyiv has shocked Moscow -- and the world -- by targeting military installations deep inside Russian territory in what it described as its "most long range operation"

this year, during a dramatic face-off in the Oval Office in Washington, DC, US President Donald Trump told Zelensky, "You don't have the cards. With us, you have the cards, but without us, you don't have any cards." Two months later, Kyiv has pulled off a drone attack that has taken the mighty Russian establishment by surprise. While the scale of damage is yet to be confirmed, the sheer audacity of the attack speaks volumes and pushes Ukraine ahead in the war of perception.

6 Hurt in Firebomb Attack Amid 'Free Palestine' Shout

Six people were injured Sunday in Boulder, Colorado, in what the FBI described as a "targeted terror attack" on demonstrators calling for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

Authorities said a man was arrested after allegedly throwing a homemade firebomb—reportedly a Molotov cocktail—at participants in the “Boulder Run for Their Lives” event, a peaceful weekly walk organized by members of the Jewish community. CDS Anil Chauhan Confirms Jet Loss in Operation Sindoor

India's military confirmed for the first time that it lost an unspecified number of fighter jets in clashes with Pakistan in May, while saying the four-day conflict never came close to the point of nuclear war. "What is important is that, not the jet being down, but why they were being down," Anil Chauhan, chief of defence staff of the Indian Armed Forces, said in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Saturday, while attending the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.

He called Pakistan's claims that it shot down six Indian warplanes "absolutely incorrect," though declined to specify how many jets India lost. "Why they were down, what mistakes were made - that are

important," General Chauhan said when asked about the fighter jets. "Numbers are not important," he added. "The good part is that we are able to understand the tactical mistake which we made, remedy it, rectify it, and then implement it again after two days and flew all our jets again, targeting at long range," General Chauhan

Trump says he plans to double steel, aluminum tariffs to 50%

President Donald Trump has announced the US will double its current tariff rate on steel and aluminium imports from 25% to 50%, starting on Wednesday.

Speaking at a rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Trump said the move would help boost the local steel industry and national supply, while reducing reliance on China.

Trump also said that $14bn would be invested in the area's steel production through a partnership between US Steel and Japan's Nippon Steel, though he later told reporters he had yet to see or approve the final deal.

The announcement is the latest turn in Trump's rollercoaster approach to tariffs

since re-entering office in January.

"There will be no layoffs and no outsourcing whatsoever, and every US steelworker will soon receive a well deserved $5,000 bonus," Trump told the crowd, filled with steelworkers, to raucous applause.

One of the major concerns from steelworkers about the US-Japan trade deal was how Japan would honour the workers' union contract which regulates pay and hiring.

Trump began his remarks by saying he had "saved" US Steel, America's biggest steel manufacturer, located in Pittsburgh, with the 25% tariffs he implemented during his first term as president in 2018.

Both sales and profits at US Steel have been falling in recent years.

Trump touted the increase to 50% as a way to ensure US Steel's survival.

"At 50%, they can no longer get over the fence," he said. "We are once again going to put Pennsylvania steel into the backbone of America, like never before."

"What is important is that, not the jet being down, but why they were being down," Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan told Bloomberg TV.

said. The comments are the most direct yet from an Indian government or military official on the fate of the country's fighter jets during the conflict with Pakistan that erupted on May 7. Earlier this month, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said his country shot down six Indian fighter jets, an assertion that hasn't been independently verified. India's government had earlier refrained from commenting on whether it lost aircraft in the fighting.

PM Modi Warns

Pakistan: Bullets Will Get Cannonballs

PM Modi on Saturday said proxy wars by terrorists will not work and bullets will be answered with cannon balls, adding that 'sindoor' has become a symbol of valour following India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

He also described Operation Sindoor as the biggest and most successful anti-terror operation in the country's history. Speaking at the 'Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan' here on the occasion of the legendary queen's 300th birth anniversary, Modi said, "Through a decisive response, Bharat gave a message that proxy war by terrorists will not work.

Bharat, a land of culture and values, sees sindoor as a symbol of women's power. Today, that same sindoor has become a symbol of our valour and resistance to terrorism."

Supreme Court Lets Trump End Status for 500K Migrants

President Donald Trump's administration can temporarily revoke the legal status of over 500,000 migrants living in the US, the US Supreme Court ruled on Friday. The ruling put on hold a previous federal judge's order stopping the administration from ending the "parole" immigration programme, established by former President Joe Biden. The programme protected immigrants fleeing economic and political turmoil in their home countries.

The new order puts roughly 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela at risk of being deported.

Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson and Sonia

two of the court's three liberal justices, dissented. The parole programme allows immigrants temporary status to work and live in the US for two years because of "urgent humanitarian reasons or

significant public benefit", according to the US government.

The Trump administration had filed an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court after a federal judge in Massachusetts blocked the administration from ending the programme, also known as CHNV humanitarian parole.

The White House "celebrated" the opportunity to deport 500,000 "invaders", White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller told CNN. "The Supreme Court justly stepped in".

In her dissent, Justice Jackson wrote that the court's order would "have the lives of half a million migrants unravel all around us before the courts decide their legal claims".

Speaking in London after meeting a BJP-led delegation, he urged the international community to back India against terrorism and called for Pakistan to end its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. Blackman questioned the use of international aid to Pakistan, suggesting funds might be diverted to buy Chinese weapons for attacks on India instead of health programs like polio eradication. Musk Slams Trump Spending Bill as "Abomination"

Elon Musk on Tuesday hammered US President Donald Trump's proposed spending bill as a "disgusting abomination" as tensions between the pair burst into the open following the tech billionaire's White House exit.

Musk left his role as an official government employee last week, lauded by Trump for spearheading a federal spending cuts program, but disagreements between the duo have been building.

"This massive, outrageous, porkfilled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination," Musk posted on X, in by far his most caustic remarks on Trump's spending plans.

"Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong."

India's defense procurements from Russia, Lutnick acknowledged that current trends are shifting, with India increasingly aligning with the U.S. on strategic and economic fronts. Both countries have set an ambitious goal to boost bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030, up from the current $191 billion. The forthcoming agreement is seen as a significant step toward achieving this target, enhancing economic cooperation and opening new opportunities for businesses in both nations.

As negotiations continue, a U.S. delegation is scheduled to visit New Delhi on June 5-6 to further discussions, following recent visits by Indian negotiators to Washington. Both sides remain committed to finalizing the deal promptly, aiming to strengthen the economic partnership between the two democracies.

Everything And Every Day Is A Discovery Working With Anurag Basu

Aditya Roy Kapur

Actor Aditya Roy Kapur is gearing up for the release of Metro... In Dino, his second collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Basu after their successful outing in Ludo. The upcoming film, which is a contemporary take on modern relationships, has an ensemble cast and a unique musical narrative that sets it apart.

In a recent media interaction during the film’s promotions, Aditya spoke candidly about what excited him to be part of this project. One of the standout elements for him was the creative challenge of blending dialogue with music in an organic way. “I think with this project, there's a musical element to it — blending music into the scenes, transitioning from talking to singing and back again. That was new for me,” he said. “Trying to navigate that was both challenging and rewarding.”

Aditya also spoke highly of working with Anurag Basu again. Calling him “Dada” fondly, he said, “With Dada, everything is a discovery. Every day on set is a fun challenge. He’s unpredictable, and that’s what makes the process exciting — you never know what idea he might throw at you.” This element of spontaneity and innovation, Aditya believes, is what makes Basu’s direction so distinct.

The film features a star-studded cast including Anupam Kher, Pankaj

Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, and Neena Gupta, each playing key roles that contribute to the film’s central theme — the complexities of love and relationships in a fast-paced, modern world.

Metro... In Dino also marks the return of the successful musical duo of Anurag Basu and composer Pritam, who previously collaborated on films like Gangster and Ludo. Their partnership is known for creating soulful soundtracks that enhance the emotional depth of storytelling, and expectations are high for this latest outing.

The narrative of Metro... In Dino revolves around the emotional and personal journeys of several characters, exploring the different shades of love — from longing and heartbreak to hope and companionship — set against a metropolitan backdrop. With its layered storytelling, powerful cast, and musical experimentation, the film promises to be a heartfelt exploration of human connection in today's world.

Exhibitors Split Shows for Housefull 5 Versions: Historic Strategy Explaine

The comic caper Housefull 5 is all set to release this Friday, that too with two versions, namely Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed that they have shot two endings and they have decided to make both versions available to the public. He further added that this has never happened before in the history of cinema. With the bookings having commenced, Bollywood Hungama spoke to exhibitors and programmers to understand how they plan to divide the shows between Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B.

“The idea is to have equal shows for both versions. So, if Housefull 5A has been allotted two screens and 10 shows, the same would also apply to Housefull 5B. But in some cases, that won’t be practical to do especially if the theatre can provide an odd number of shows, that is, 3, 5, 7, 9, etc. Then, Housefull 5A will have the edge.”

Jayenge (1995) at 11:30 am. Hence, it only has three shows to allot for new releases. Accordingly, Housefull 5A will play with two shows at 3:15 pm and 9:30 pm while Housefull 5B’s show is kept

Thug Life, which releases on Thursday, June 5. It has caught attention due to the star cast and Mani Ratnam’s association. Its shows also need to be accommodated along with holdover releases like Bhool Chuk Maaf, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Final Destination Bloodlines, etc. This is yet to be decided and once that is locked, multiplexes can plan better with regards to dividing shows between two versions of Housefull 5. Thankfully, Pen Marudhar is distributing both Housefull 5 and Thug Life along with Bhool Chuk Maaf, making our job easier.”

This situation arises especially in those single-screen theatres which usually play 3 or 5 shows. For instance, Maratha Mandir in Mumbai plays Dilwale Dulhania Le

at 6:15 pm. Some other single-screen cinemas like Chitra, Roxy, Kasturba, Citylight, Inox Nakshatra, PVR Le Reve, Regal, MovieTime Suburbia, Gold Cinema Santacruz, Gold Cinema Thane, etc, are playing 3 shows of Housefull 5A and 2 shows of Housefull 5B. In the iconic G7 multiplex, Gaiety will screen 4 shows of Housefull 5A while Galaxy will screen 4 shows of Housefull 5B.

A multiplex programmer said, “There’s also

An industry insider, meanwhile, commented, “It makes sense to keep shows 50-50 between the two for the initial few days. If Housefull 5A gets a better response, its shows can then be increased and the same can be done for Housefull 5B if it gets more appreciation. Of course, we would all want both versions to get equal love. That would also entice people to catch the other version for their second viewing.”

Mahabharat Could Be My Last Film Aamir Khan

“Maybe after doing Mahabharat, I’ll feel like I don’t want to do anything else. I don’t know yet,” he added, reflecting on the emotional impact the project may have on him.

Aamir Khan is currently immersed in promotions for his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to his acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. Slated to release in theatres on June 20, 2025, the sports comedy-drama stars Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh and features 10 specially-abled young performers in key roles. While speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Khan opened up about what might be his final cinematic undertaking: Mahabharat. The actor-producer revealed that work on the ambitious project will commence once Sitaare Zameen Par is out.

Calling Mahabharat his “dream project,” Khan said, “I feel like that’s one project which, once I’ve done it, might leave me with the feeling that there’s nothing more I can do after that. Because the material is like that — it’s layered, emotional, vast in scale, and full of grandeur. Everything that exists in the world can be found in Mahabharat.”

The 59-year-old star further explained that the epic’s depth and complexity may leave him artistically fulfilled to a degree where he may not feel the need to pursue more stories. “Maybe after doing Mahabharat, I’ll feel like I don’t want to do anything else. I don’t know yet,” he added, reflecting on the emotional impact the project may have on him.

He also touched on the idea of continuing to work until the very end, referencing veteran actor A.K. Hangal. “I hope I die with my shoes on. Like AK Hangal ji used to say, ‘I want to die while working.’ That’s what all of us wish for,” Khan said.

Meanwhile, Sitaare Zameen Par is being produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and directed by R. S. Prasanna. The film’s screenplay is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, with music by the trio Shankar-EhsaanLoy and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Alongside Aamir and Genelia, the cast includes young talents Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Co-produced by Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka, the film aims to blend sports and emotion while spotlighting specially-abled children and their achievements.

China’s Grip on U.S. Drug Supply Raises Alarm Amid Tariff Threats

Amoxicillin, the most prescribed antibiotic in the U.S., is in chronic short supply — and produced by only one domestic manufacturer.

Worryingly, China controls 80% of the raw materials needed to make it. As former President Donald Trump threatens new tariffs on pharmaceutical imports, concerns grow over America's dependence on China for critical medications.

Rick Jackson, CEO of USAntibiotics — the sole U.S. producer of amoxicillin — warns that any Chinese disruption could be “catastrophic,” especially during a bacterial outbreak. Beyond amoxicillin, China provides 90% of U.S. ibuprofen, 73% of acetaminophen, and 96% of hydrocortisone imports. Meanwhile, India, another major drug exporter, also relies on China for 70% of its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) imports.

The order depends on the UK and US tariff pact signed in May, which would axe steel and aluminium tariffs but has yet to come into force, meaning UK steel exporters will face tariffs until then and could face the 50% tariff if the pact falters.

The UK government said it is "committed

to protecting British business and jobs", but the Conservatives said the order was a "fresh tariff blow".

The UK government spokesperson added that it will "continue to work with the US to implement our agreement, which will see the [tariffs] removed", with the legislation implementing the deal to be presented in Parliament "in due course".

Trump said in the order that the UK needed "different treatment" because of the US-UK Economic Prosperity Deal (ECD) signed on 8 May 2025. However, Trump later added that the US might increase the tariff on the UK "on or after July 9 2025" if it "determines that the United Kingdom has not complied with relevant aspects of the EPD".

low profit margins making domestic production difficult. A 25% tariff on generics could increase prices by 12.9%, costing $50.8 billion more

annually and possibly forcing suppliers to leave the U.S. market. China’s dominance is rooted in decades of cost advantages, lax environmental regulations, and government support, including the "Made in China 2025" strategy that prioritized biopharma. India, though a global leader in generic production, shifted toward complex formulations while sourcing cheaper APIs from China.

In 2021, Jackson bought a bankrupt Tennessee factory to restart U.S. production. However, rebuilding domestic drug manufacturing is slow, costly, and can take over five years.

While some major firms like AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson are expanding U.S. operations, they focus on patented drugs with higher margins. Generics, lacking similar profitability, are unlikely to follow without government incentives. Experts argue that instead of tariffs, the U.S. must offer incentives and strategic investment to ensure a resilient pharmaceutical supply — one where medicine shortages don’t put lives at risk.

Tesla prioritizes showrooms over India manufacturing

Tesla, Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, has shown no interest in manufacturing in India.

In February, US President Donald Trump had said if Tesla planned to build a factory in India, it would be “unfair” to the US.

While outlining the government’s proposed scheme to step up manufacturing of electric vehicles in India, Union heavy industries minister H. D. Kumaraswamy on Monday said the US electric vehicle maker has so far only shown interest in opening showrooms in India.

The car maker has reportedly selected Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla and Delhi’s Aerocity as locations for its showrooms

New York Welcomes

Didi Krishna Kumari for Soul-Stirring Session

NEW YORK, NY – More than 1,000 spiritual seekers from the tri-state area—and as far away as Los Angeles and London—gathered at Manhattan’s iconic Marble Collegiate Church on May 28 for Path to Peaceful Prosperity, an evening of music, wisdom, and collective meditation hosted by the Sadhu Vaswani Center for World Peace (SVCWP).

The historic venue held profound significance, as Dada J.P. Vaswani deeply admired Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, the church’s renowned minister in the 1900s. Though Dada never had the opportunity to visit the church himself, he often cited Dr. Peale’s teachings on positive thinking as a major influence. This gathering, in many ways, fulfilled that long-cherished wish and served as a tribute to both spiritual legacies.

The program opened with a warm welcome by television personalities Monica Vaswani and Brian Benni, followed by remarks from Binaya S. Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York. He lauded SVCWP’s upcoming World Peace Center in New Jersey as “a monumental gift of meditation, study, and compassion for America.”

The sanctuary came alive when Grammy-nominated kirtan artist Krishna Das led the crowd in a powerful chant of “Om” and “Om Namah Shivaya,” filling the candle-lit space with devotional energy. Grammy-winning musician and philanthropist Chandrika Tandon later spoke about how Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani’s teachings helped her navigate life’s most challenging moments, calling the evening “a beacon of light for New York.”

The evening culminated in a stirring message from Didi Krishna Kumari, the global spiritual head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission. She unveiled what she described as “the secret pathway to prosperity,” redefining PEACE as Prosperity Emanating As Conscious Expansion. Offering each letter as a practical “soul tool,” she then led a tenminute guided meditation that invited attendees to awaken an abundance mindset—leaving the entire room visibly uplifted and serene.

A Splash of Color and Unity at the 6th Annual KOLOR Run 5K

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ- A burst of color, a spirit of unity, and boundless energy lit up Community Park in North Brunswick on Sunday, June 1, 2025, as the Rotary Club of Plainsboro, North & South Brunswick hosted its 6th annual KOLOR Run 5K. More than 150 participants laced up their sneakers to embrace this year’s inspiring theme: “Run Together, Stay United.” But this wasn’t just a run — it was a vibrant celebra-tion of health, service, and community spirit.

The day kicked off with a revitalizing yoga session led by Juhi Mehta Desai of Myntra Yoga. Over 100 par-ticipants welcomed the morning sun as they flowed through poses, setting a peaceful yet energized tone for the event ahead.

Rotary Club President Hemal Dhavalikar warmly welcomed attendees, expressing gratitude for the com-munity’s continued support of Rotary’s core mission — “Service Above Self.” Special guest Bob Law, in-coming District Governor of Rotary District 7475, praised the club’s energy and commitment as a shining example of Rotary values. Also in attendance was Dr. Sanjeev Mehta, a former Rotarian from Ahmedabad, India, who applauded the club for its outstanding contributions both locally and globally.

Runners of all ages took to the track, each receiving a Rotary-branded T-shirt and a commemorative

me-dallion. Race highlights included a tie for first place in the men’s category between Fernando Tuller and Guatavo Silva, both finishing at 6.8 minutes. Valbain followed in third at 6.32 minutes. In the women’s cat-egory, Susan Caputo took first with a time of 6.16 minutes, followed by Glauci Werli at 6.42 minutes and Karynyy Serra at 7.36 minutes.

The festivities wrapped up with an energetic Zumba session that had participants — especially the younger crowd — dancing with joy. The event’s smooth execution was thanks to the dedicated coordination of Sanjeev Dixit and Blisse Vakalgadda, with Taral Pancholi energizing the crowd as the lively Master of Cer-emonies. Volunteers from the Interact Club, a group of enthusiastic young leaders, played a crucial role in making the event a resounding success.

The KOLOR Run 5K is just one of many impactful initiatives led by the Rotary Club of Plainsboro, North & South Brunswick. Since its charter in 2002, the club has worked diligently across all five Rotary Avenues of Service, fostering community wellness and global outreach.

This year’s event was more than a race — it was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from uni-ty, service, and shared purpose. One colorful step at a time.

Indian American Teen Wins Scripps National Spelling Bee with ‘Éclaircissement’

That dream came true in spectacular fashion. As Faizan faced his final word, he skipped the usual clarifying questions and confidently spelled it aloud. When the final letter landed, he pumped his fists and dropped to the floor in joyful disbelief as confetti rained down.

OXON HILL, MD – A Plano, Texas student has clinched the top honor at the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee, capping a journey marked by determination, family support, and four years of tireless effort.

Thirteen-year-old Faizan Zaki, a seventh grader at Rice Middle School, emerged victorious on the night of May 29 by correctly spelling éclaircissement — a French word meaning “a clearing up of something ob-scure.”

Faizan, the son of South Indian immigrants, is known in spelling circles for his laser-sharp focus. His par-ents, Dr. Arshia Quadri, an internal medicine specialist, and Zaki Anwar, watched with pride from the audi-ence at the Gaylord National Resort in Maryland, joined by Faizan’s twin sister, Zara Jabeen. For Arshia, the moment carried special meaning. Reflecting on her move to the U.S., she told The

Dallas Morning News, “Now I know why my dad wanted me to come here. This really is the best place on earth in terms of ideals and the ability to do your best in every area. I absolutely believe in the American dream.”

That dream came true in spectacular fashion. As Faizan faced his final word, he skipped the usual clarifying questions and confidently spelled it aloud. When the final letter landed, he pumped his fists and dropped to the floor in joyful disbelief as confetti rained down.

It was a moment of redemption for the Allen, Texas native. Last year, he narrowly missed victory in a dramatic spell-off. This year — the Bee’s 100th edition — he returned with renewed focus and became the first runner-up in over two decades to come back and win. The road to the title wasn’t without suspense. As the competition narrowed to three, Faizan briefly fal-

tered on commelina, beginning to misspell it before correcting himself just in time. Moments later, after both Sarvadnya Kadam and Sarv Dharavane missed their words, Faizan stood alone, just one word from glory.

Sarvadnya, 14, of Visalia, California, finished as runner-up in his final year of eligibility, earning widespread admiration. Eleven-year-old Sarv, from Dunwoody, Georgia, placed third — impressing judges with re-markable poise and talent for his age. Still stunned after his win, Faizan told reporters, “I can’t describe it. It’s so amazing getting to this point — winning. I never expected this in a million years.” Faizan now joins a proud tradition of Indian American champions, who have claimed 30 of the last 36 Spelling Bee titles — and adds his own chapter of brilliance, redemption, and resilience to Bee history.

ICE: Undocumented Man Made Death Threat Against Trump Over Mexican Issues

WISCONSIN- Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Mexican national in Wisconsin after he allegedly sent a handwritten letter threatening to assassinate former President Donald J. Trump. Ramon Morales-Reyes, 54, is an undocumented immigrant who, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), illegally entered the United States on nine separate occasions between 1999 and 2005. His criminal history includes arrests for felony hit-and-run, criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct, with the latter offense carrying a domestic abuse enhancement.

The letter, received by an ICE officer on May 21, contained explicit threats directed at President Trump. In it, Morales-Reyes reportedly wrote: “We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans – We have done more for this country than you white people –

you have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump get what he has coming to him.”

He continued: “I will self deport myself back to Mexico but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in is head – I will see him at one of his big ralleys [sic].”

Authorities believe he was referring to a .30-06 Springfield rifle. Morales-Reyes was taken into custody last Thursday, DHS confirmed.

“This illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is

now behind bars thanks to the swift action of our ICE officers,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem in a statement.

“This threat follows the at-tempted assassination of President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania less than a year ago, and comes just weeks after former FBI Director James Comey made incendiary remarks calling for violence against the President. Politicians and media figures should take note of the growing frequency of threats and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take every necessary step to ensure President Trump’s safety.”

Morales-Reyes is currently being held at Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin, and will remain in custody pending removal proceedings, according to DHS. The incident is part of a broader trend of escalating threats against federal officials. In April, the Depart-ment of Justice charged a Texas man with threatening to harm ICE agents. Just last week, a North Carolina man was arrested on federal charges for making similar threats.

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in women globally, with 2.3 million cases and 670,000 deaths in 2022. Estrogen receptor-positive (ER+), HER2-negative breast cancers are often treated with hormone-blocking therapies and CDK4/6 inhibitors. However, many develop resistance due to ESR1 gene mutations, making treatment difficult. A new oral drug, vepdegestrant, part of a novel class called PROTACs, offers hope. Instead of blocking the mutated estrogen receptor, it tags it for destruction, effectively removing the cancer’s growth signal. In the VERITAC-2 trial, vepdegestrant doubled median progression-free survival in patients with ESR1 mutations—from 2.1 to 5.0 months— compared to standard treatment. Though not significantly effective for all, the response among ESR1-mutated patients was promising. Side effects were mostly mild, and oral dosing may improve convenience. Vepdegestrant’s targeted approach underscores the potential of personalized medicine .

Breakthrough in Breast Cancer Treatment

In a breakthrough presented at the ongoing 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting in Chicago, researchers unveiled promising results from the phase 3 SERENA-6 trial that could reshape how advanced breast cancer, Stage IV, is treated—offering new hope to thousands of women worldwide.

Breast cancer remains the most diagnosed cancer among women globally. According to GLOBOCAN 2022 data, more than 2.3 million women were diagnosed, with over 670,000 deaths. While early detection and better treatments have improved survival in wealthier countries, many women still face challenges in timely care, especially in lower-income regions.

For women with hormone receptorpositive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer, the current standard treatment includes a combination of aromatase inhibitors and CDK4/6 inhibitors like palbociclib. These drugs work well and can contain the disease for a few years. However, nearly 40% of patients eventually develop mutations in a gene called ESR1, which causes the cancer to become resistant. Enter camizestrant, a next-generation

The findings are essential for two reasons: First, they highlight the potential of bloodbased monitoring to detect resistance before cancer visibly worsens. Second, they introduce camizestrant as a powerful alter-native to prolong treatment effectiveness and delay chemotherapy.

oral drug that acts as a selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD). Unlike earlier treatments, camizestrant is designed to block estrogen receptors even when they carry the ESR1 mutation. Tumors develop an innate mechanism whereby they will become resistant to the treatment that is being rendered to the patient. One such mutation in breast cancer is the ESR1 mutation.

In the SERENA-6 trial, more than 3,000

women were regularly tested for ESR1 mutations using a blood test known as circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA). Of those, 315 patients developed ESR1 mutations but hadn’t yet shown signs of disease progression. Half of these women were proactively switched to camizestrant, while continuing their CDK4/6 therapy.

The results were compelling:

• Progression-free survival extended from 9.2 months to 16 months.

• Quality of life deterioration was delayed significantly—from 6.4 to 23 months.

• Side effects were mild, with few patients discontinuing treatment. The findings are essential for two reasons: First, they highlight the potential of blood-based monitoring to detect resistance before cancer visibly worsens. Second, they introduce camizestrant as a powerful alter-native to prolong treatment effectiveness and delay chemotherapy. Think ahead, much like a chess move to outsmart the enemy.

In short, by anticipating genetic changes before they lead to clinical progression, doctors may now stay one step ahead— giving patients more time and better time.

New Wave of Text Message Scams Hits Phones Nationwide

WASHINGTON, DC- Despite repeated warnings from the FBI and police departments nationwide, iPhone and Android users continue to fall victim to daily cyberattacks— losing money, personal data, and even their identities.

While geopolitical tensions between leaders like Trump and Xi dominate headlines, Chinese organized crime groups such as Smishing Triad and Panda Shop have quietly industrialized SMS-based attacks. These text message scams now target nearly every city and state across the U.S.

It began with fake delivery notifications, but it’s the unpaid toll scams that have become alarmingly wide-spread. At this point, it’s hard to believe any American smartphone user hasn’t seen at least one of the many alerts from the FBI, police, or DMV, which have been issued weekly for months. Still, the scams con-tinue to work—and at scale.

ITServe Alliance Honors Veterans and Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day

DALLAS, TX- On May 26, 2025, ITServe Alliance members across the nation, led by national and Chapter leadership, came together to honor our Veterans and fallen Heroes through heartfelt Memorial Day trib-utes. Events were spearheaded by local Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) teams in Austin, Dallas, Hou-ston, New Jersey, and Raleigh, reflecting ITServe’s strong commitment to community service.

Thanks to the leadership of Chapter Presidents Vineeth Reddy Amaram (Austin), Abhishek Boyanapally (Dallas), Srinivas Mettu (Houston), Subramaniyam Osuru (New Jersey), and Praveen Chakraraj (Raleigh), hundreds of members paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

In Dallas, the ITServe team, joined by Governing Board Chair Raghu Chittimalla, National President Anju Vallabhaneni, and Immediate Past

President Jagadeesh Mosali, placed national flags at DFW National Cemetery in a solemn ceremony.

“ITServe’s vision since its founding in 2010 has been to empower local communities and support employment across the U.S.,” said Chittimalla. Vallabhaneni added, “Our CSR mission is deeply rooted in honoring those who serve our nation.”

The Austin Chapter donated $1,000 to the Sons of the American Revolution during its ceremony. “Proud to be part of ITServe, always at the forefront of community service,” said Amaram. Chapter leaders emphasized the importance of member participation.

“These events bring fulfillment and foster unity,” noted Mettu. Boyanapally added, “Nothing compares to the pride felt in person at such a tribute.”

CSR Managing Director Tanuj Gundlapalli expressed gratitude to all volunteers, saying, “Your support drives our success and future impact.”

the official, publicly listed contact information to verify it. Then, follow the FBI’s advice: delete the message. And prepare yourself—these attacks aren’t going away. In fact, they’re evolving. The next wave is ex-pected to pivot from tolls to banking, with messages impersonating financial

institutions rather than deliv-ery services or toll operators.

Worse still, future attacks won’t rely solely on SMS. Expect to see them via RCS and iMessage, featuring highquality visuals and hyper-realistic text generated by AI—making them even harder to detect. These Chinese OCGs (organized crime groups) operate with a sense of impunity, largely outside the reach of U.S. law enforcement.

Cybersecurity firm Resecurity reports that a single threat actor can send up to 2 million smishing messages per day—enough to target 60 million people per month, or 720 million per year. That’s nearly two attacks for every person in the U.S. annually. While there are red flags—such as suspicious links with Chinese toplevel domains like .TOP or .XIN, or de-ceptive URLs mimicking legitimate .COM sites—your best defense is simple: assume any message about an undelivered package, unpaid toll, compromised password, or suspended account is a scam.

MIT Class President's Pro-Palestinian Speech Stirs Controversy

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Megha Vemuri, president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Class of 2025, used her commencement address to voice strong support for the Palestinian cause. Wearing a red keffiyeh over her graduation robe, Vemuri criticized both the Israeli government and MIT’s research ties with the Israeli military. She accused Israel of attempting to “wipe Palestine off the face of the earth” and charged MIT with being “complicit” through its collaborations with the Israel Defense Forces. “MIT’s name is directly complicit in the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people,” she declared, urging graduates to advocate for humani-tarian aid, support an arms

embargo, and demand the university cut ties with foreign military entities. Her remarks reflected months of student-led protests on campus demanding divestment from military partnerships, particularly those involving Israel.

MIT President Sally Kornbluth responded immediately after Vemuri’s speech. While affirming the importance of free expression, she emphasized the day’s focus. “Today is about the graduates,” Kornbluth said. “There is a time and a place to express yourselves, and you will have many, many years to do it.”

Vemuri’s address drew both praise and criticism across academic and political circles.

Armed Federal Agents

Raid San Diego Restaurants, Detain Staff

SAN DIEGO, CA- Heavily armed federal immigration agents raided two Buona Forchetta restaurants on Beech Street in San Diego’s South Park neighborhood Friday evening, deploying flash bang grenades and detaining employees, witnesses said. Patrons dining at the Enoteca Buona Forchetta location in the 3000 block of Beech Street told CBS 8 that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents stormed into the restaurant and used flash bangs to disperse crowds. Both Buona Forchetta locations on Beech Street were raided, according to employees. Claire Cody, an employee at one of the restaurants, said agents presented a warrant, handcuffed every staff member present, and moved the detained employees to the other location. There, HSI agents checked IDs while the entire staff remained handcuffed.

Fighting back tears, Cody told CBS 8 she watched multiple coworkers taken into custody by federal agents. The dramatic scene drew dozens of community members, who gathered outside the restaurants, shouted at law enforcement, and recorded video of the raid.

San Diego Police confirmed that officers were called in by HSI to assist with crowd control. It remains unclear who the targets of the operation were.

FDA’s

Restrictive New COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA), a physician and former member of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, has sharply criticized the Food and Drug Administra-tion’s (FDA) newly announced policy that limits approvals of updated COVID-19 vaccines primarily to older adults and those with underlying health conditions. “As a doctor and your Member of Congress, my top priority is protecting the health and safety of Sacra-mento County families,” Bera said. “Many households are still grappling with the lasting health and eco-nomic impacts of the pandemic. Now is not the time to weaken our public health response when so many remain vulnerable.”

02), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Debbie Dingell (MI-12), Kweisi Mfume (MD07), Robert Garcia (CA-42), and Jill Tokuda (HI-02), all of whom expressed concern that the FDA’s policy signals a dangerous shift.

“We find it perplexing that this new guidance undermines the core principles of Operation Warp Speed—a bipartisan success launched under the Trump administration—which accelerated vaccine development and saved millions of lives,” the lawmakers said.

They cautioned that requiring expanded clinical trials in low-risk populations could delay updated vaccine access for the broader public. “This change risks leaving much of the population without essential protec-tion, increasing national vulnerability to future outbreaks.”

The lawmakers urged the FDA to pursue a more inclusive, science-based strategy that ensures equitable access to vaccines for all Americans, regardless of age or health status. “Robust vaccination efforts are critical to safeguarding public health and preventing future surges,” they concluded.

Trump Targets Chinese Students in Visa Crackdown

WASHINGTON, DC- In a sweeping policy shift, the Trump administration has announced it will begin revok-ing visas for some Chinese students in the U.S., particularly those with alleged ties to the Chinese Com-munist Party or studying in fields deemed “critical” to national security. The move grants broad authority to immigration officials and could affect hundreds or even thousands of students, disrupting academic plans and professional trajectories.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. will also tighten scrutiny on future visa applications from mainland China and Hong Kong, citing concerns over espionage and intellectual property theft. China strongly condemned the decision as discriminatory and politically motivated. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said it revealed the “hypocrisy” of America’s claimed values of freedom and openness.

Adding to the uncertainty, the State

Department has paused all new F, M, and J visa interviews. The admin-istration previously attempted to block Harvard from enrolling international students—a decision over-turned by the courts—and proposed expanded social media vetting for visa applicants.

Critics argue these policies harm academic freedom, infringe civil liberties, and threaten U.S. leadership in global education. Chinese students, the largest international student group in the U.S. with 277,000 en-rolled in 2024 (mostly in STEM), now face increased barriers and scrutiny.

Universities fear major financial and research setbacks. Many Chinese students are now exploring options in Europe and Canada.

Current students are urged to stay informed, work closely with international offices, preserve documenta-tion, and monitor their digital presence as U.S. visa policy continues to shift.

Nirav B. Patel gets 12 years for scam targeting seniors in US

An Indian national living illegally in the U.S. has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in a major fraud scheme that scammed elderly victims out of over $400,000 across three states.

Nirav B. Patel, 44, was convicted by a federal jury in February on multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, wire fraud, and illegal entry into the U.S. The sentencing was handed down by a court in Illinois, which rejected Patel’s claim of ignorance, citing his key role in transporting large sums of cash and valuables for the scam.

The scheme involved an India-based network posing as U.S. government officials to deceive elderly Americans. Victims were tricked through fake alerts about compromised Amazon accounts and then contacted by fraudsters claiming to be federal agents. They were told to withdraw life savings and transfer them to

supposed “safe” government accounts, which were actually controlled by the scammers. Patel served as the U.S.-based operative,

collecting money and gold directly from victims. In one case, he collected $177,000 in gold bars from a woman in an assisted living facility. The court

BLOOMINGTON, IN- Federal agencies arrested 23 undocumented immigrants in the Bloomington and Ev-ansville areas during a joint operation focused on public safety. The operation targeted individuals with prior criminal records across southern Indiana.

According to officials, 18 of those taken into custody had previous criminal arrests or convictions, includ-ing:

• 10 previously arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)

• 10 linked to crimes that resulted in injury to others

• 3 with drug-related offense histories

Additionally, four individuals were arrested on federal warrants. ICE identified them as: Martin Cortez-Lopez, 36, Amin Reynosa-Diaz,

29, Jaime Ortiz-Guzman, 46, & Jonathan Regules-Hernandez, 44.

Douglas Thompson, Assistant Field Office Director for Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Chica-go, issued the following statement: “ICE officers are integral in keeping communities across our country safe from those who would commit violent, criminal acts. Thanks to our federal law enforcement partnerships, criminal aliens with no lawful basis to remain in the U.S. will be held accountable to the immigration laws of our nation.”

The operation was conducted in coordination with ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, U.S. Marshals Service, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

stressed that the scam required individuals like Patel on the ground to succeed, justifying a harsh sentence to deter future crimes.

Authorities said Patel entered the U.S. illegally near Vancouver and settled in Illinois, where he obtained a driver’s license despite his status. From a base in Chicago, he traveled across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana to collect stolen assets.

U.S. Attorney Steven D. Weinhoeft stated, “We will continue to do all we can to remove this criminal element from our country,” highlighting Patel’s exploitation of state policies to aid in defrauding the elderly.

Indian Origin Man Pleads Guilty to $1 Million COVID Loan Fraud

FRESNO, CA. — Gurjeet Bath, 37, of Fresno, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of theft of government property, Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith announced.

According to court documents, Bath and his family operated two Fresno County trucking companies—G.S. Bath Inc. and Complete Transportation Solutions (CTS). In 2020 and 2021, Bath fraudulently obtained over $1 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans by inflating employee numbers and wages. He used roughly $600,000 of the funds to buy two parcels of agricultural land in Fresno County. The case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from the SBA Office of Inspector General. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey A. Spivak is prosecuting. Bath is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 6, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, though the final sentence will be determined by the court based on statutory factors and federal sentencing guidelines.

Pritzker Cuts Health Program for Undocumented Adults

CHICAGO, IL- Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, a longtime supporter of sanctuary policies, is now scaling back benefits for illegal immigrants amid a looming budget shortfall for Fiscal Year 2026. His proposed budget eliminates the Health Benefits for Immigrant Adults (HBIA) program, which provided state-funded health insurance to low-income illegal aliens aged 42 to 64. The program, introduced in 2021, is set to end on July 1, 2025. Meanwhile, a separate program for seniors, Health Benefits for Immigrant Seniors (HBIS), will re-main intact.

HBIA currently covers about 31,500 individuals at an estimated cost of $404 million in 2025—nearly $13,000 per enrollee and nearly double its 2023 cost. In contrast, HBIS serves approximately 11,800 sen-iors at a projected cost of

$134 million. Critics, including Illinois House Minority Leader Ryan Spain, argue the program's high cost outweighs its benefits and may attract more illegal immigration. Supporters, such as Rep. Barbara Hernandez, emphasize the lack of healthcare options for undocumented communities. Some defenders of such benefits argue illegal immigrants pay taxes and deserve services in return. Howev-er, studies, such as those by FAIR, suggest illegal aliens consume more in public services than they contrib-ute in taxes, particularly when factoring in tax credits and healthcare costs. Illinois joins several other states—like California, Minnesota, and Oregon— in offering health benefits to illegal immigrants. However, as California’s recent $2.7 billion cost overrun and subsequent program freeze show, initial cost projections for such programs often fall short.

Immigration Win: Federal Judge Blocks Trump’s Parole Policy Shift

BOSTON, MA – U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani ruled on May 29 that the Trump administration unlawfully ended humanitarian parole for hundreds of thousands of migrants. The decision found that the administra-tion wrongly halted renewals for individuals from countries such as Afghanistan, Ukraine, Cuba, Haiti, Nic-aragua, and Venezuela, as well as Central American minors seeking reunification with parents in the U.S.

Judge Talwani rejected the government’s claim of broad discretion, citing DHSorders that lacked legal justification. One order, she noted, provided “no reasoned explanation,” and a so-called “pause” that had extended for three months amounted to an “indefinite suspension.” She emphasized that DHS agencies must follow established procedures under federal law when granting or denying parole. The ruling offers critical relief to thousands, including Afghan allies, Ukrainian families, and Nicaraguans fleeing political instability. These individuals entered legally but faced limbo after the government stopped processing asylum, visa, and residency applications.

Indian National Pleads Guilty in USCIS Marriage Fraud Case

BECKLEY, WV. – The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) provided critical support in an in-vestigation that led to a guilty plea by an Indian national involved in a marriage fraud scheme. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that Aakash Prakash Makwana, 29, a citizen of India unlawfully re-siding in Ronceverte, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft. Makwana admitted that he committed the offense as part of a scheme to marry a U.S. citizen in order to circumvent U.S. immigration laws.

According to court records and statements made in court, Makwana entered the United States on a J-1 nonimmigrant visa on November 23, 2019. He acknowledged that the visa was valid for one year and that he remained in the U.S. unlawfully after it expired on November 24, 2020.

Around August 2021, Makwana conspired with others to pay a U.S. citizen $10,000 in exchange for marriage, allowing him to apply for lawful permanent resident status (Green Card). At the time, Makwana was living in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and working without legal authorization. As part of the scheme, he married the U.S. citizen on September 3, 2021, and submitted a falsified residential lease agreement to make it appear that they lived together. He also added the U.S. citizen’s name to his utility bills and bank accounts. Makwana admitted to

committing aggravated identity theft by including the un-authorized name and signature of the residential property manager on the fraudulent lease agreement. After the scheme failed, Makwana filed Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, with USCIS, falsely claiming he was a victim of domestic violence and emotional abuse by his spouse. He admitted filing the petition solely to prolong his stay in the U.S. and to improve his chances of receiving a Green Card. Makwana is scheduled to be sentenced on September 26, 2025. He faces potential prison time, monetary fines, and removal from the United States.

Kalee Ann Huff, the U.S. citizen involved in the fraudulent marriage, pleaded guilty on February 20, 2025, to marriage fraud and perjury. Huff, 28, currently residing in Fairbury, Illinois, is scheduled to be sentenced on June 12, 2025.

Huff’s brother-in-law, Joseph Sanchez, 33, of Fairbury, Illinois, also pleaded guilty—on January 29, 2025—to conspiracy to commit immigration marriage fraud. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 30, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston commended the investigative efforts of Homeland Security Investigations and USCIS.

Protecting the integrity of the immigration system remains a top priority for USCIS. To report suspected immigration benefit fraud or abuse, please use the USCIS Tip Form.

Indian National Living Illegally in U.S. Arrested in Child Sex Sting

CHAMPLAIN, NY — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Champlain recently apprehended Gurdev Singh, a 42-year-old Indian citizen, wanted on a felony warrant for child solicitation in Indiana. Singh was stopped after being denied entry into Canada. During a routine primary inspection, a check through the National Crime Information Center revealed an active arrest warrant issued by the Plainfield Police Department for solicitation of sexual intercourse with a minor—a level 4 felony. Further investigation during secondary inspection confirmed Singh’s identity and his status as an illegal alien, having overstayed his visitor visa since 2016. CBP officers also found multiple bladed weapons in his possession, including a sword and a hatchet. Singh was taken into custody and turned over to the New York State Police.
