Dear Members,

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

James (Jim) McClymont

As 2025 draws to a close, it’s hard to believe how quickly the year has passed. This has been a year of both reflection and progress for Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club.

Honouring Dennis Petkovich

Recently we sadly farewelled Director Dennis Petkovich, a valued and respected Board member. Following his passing, we called for Expressions of Interest to fill the vacancy. We were delighted by the calibre of applicants and are pleased to welcome Karen Alden (Waud) AOM to the Board. Karen brings a lifetime of service to sport and deep community connections, and we’re confident she will make a wonderful contribution.

Club Performance & Acknowledgements

The 2025 Annual Report will outline a strong financial year, reflecting the ongoing support of our members and the dedication of our people.

My sincere thanks go to:

• The Board for their time and commitment through meetings, training, committees and events.

• CEO Carl Pozzato and the Management Team for their leadership across our diverse operations — the Club, our properties, holiday units, Fitness Edge, and community partnerships.

• Our staff, whose warmth and genuine care, create a welcoming atmosphere for our members. This is key through friendly connections and shared experiences to foster a sense of community.

And of course, thank you to our loyal members — your support makes everything possible.

Looking Ahead

With over 45,000 members, our responsibility is to ensure the Club continues to grow and thrive. In the year ahead, we will begin construction of our Seniors Living development and continue with the Club Master Plan, securing the Club’s future for decades to come.

From our beginnings in a converted washing machine factory to the thriving venue we have today, this success is built on member loyalty and community spirit.

Commitment to Standards & Community

Our industry is highly regulated, and we embrace the importance of transparency and accountability. The Board and management continually go above and beyond requirements to ensure we meet the highest standards.

I encourage you to keep sharing the Club with friends, family, and our sporting and social communities. Our future will be shaped by members who believe in our values and help them grow.

Season’s Greetings

On behalf of the Board and management, I wish all members of Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club and Club Thirroul a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for your loyalty and support — see you in the Club, and perhaps at the AGM.

Warm regards,

CEO’S REPORT

Dear Members,

I would like to once again extend a warm welcome to all our members, both those who have been with us for many years and the more than 5,000 new members who have joined us over the past year. It’s always a wonderful reminder of the loyalty and community engagement that defines our club. The past year has been a great achievement, with a growing number of members and visitors enjoying our events, entertainment, and facilities, along with increased community involvement that truly brings the club to life.

As we finalise the 2024/2025 financial year, we can proudly reflect on another successful period for the Club. The achievements of the past year are a testament not only to the dedication of our Board, Management and staff, but also to the loyalty and support of our members, who continue to make this club what it is today. Looking ahead, our focus remains on strengthening our current products and services while continuing to explore new ways to meet the needs of our members and the wider community.

Our final profit for the year reached a strong $4,547,994, up from last year’s $4,058,719. An impressive result that reflects continued growth across all areas of the club. This performance was supported by increased visitation, membership growth, and steady engagement across our key operations. As the club continues to evolve, we remain committed to delivering new opportunities and experiences that enhance your visit and strengthen our place within the community.

Throughout the year, we’ve continued to make improvements to ensure our club remains a welcoming and modern space for everyone. Key areas including the refreshed Three Little Beans café, updates to East West Kitchen offerings, and the opening of Crystal Jade Seafood Palace, which has been an outstanding success. Bringing authentic, high-quality cuisine to our members. We’ve also made ongoing enhancements to our Lounge and Gaming areas and introduced a new Kids’ Play area.

Looking ahead into early 2026, we’re excited to commence further works, including new Function and Gaming Bars, bathroom refurbishments, and

additional external upgrades to keep our facilities fresh and inviting.

Supporting the community remains at the heart of what we do. Often, the scale of this support goes unseen—but it’s an essential part of the club’s purpose. Through our members’ ongoing support, we’ve been able to assist many local organisations that make a real difference in people’s lives. This year, through our ClubGRANTS program, we contributed $730,902 in cash and in-kind donations—including over $610,000 in direct financial support. In total, we proudly provided more than $1.02 million in community assistance to over 130 local organisations. These contributions reflect the club’s deep commitment to helping those who help others.

The future of Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club continues to look bright. 2026 will be an exciting year, with the launch of The Riverly marking the beginning of an inspiring new chapter as we bring this vision to life. We are also continuing to work closely with council on our planning proposal, which will help shape and secure the long-term future of the club and its place in the community.

As we move into the festive season and look ahead to an exciting start to 2026, there’s plenty for our members to enjoy. December will be filled with Christmas draws offering over 1,000 prizes—from traditional hams to special kids’ draws and more. Our Australia Day and Chinese New Year Members’ Cash Draws, along with fun school holiday activities for families, will ensure there’s something for everyone. And don’t forget our Christmas Day Banquet, which continues to be a much-loved event for members celebrating with family and friends.

I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a safe, joyous New Year as we welcome 2026 with open arms. Thank you for your continued support and for being part of the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues community.

CLUB GRANTS 2025

PROUDLY GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY

Each year, Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club proudly reaffirms its commitment to the community through the ClubGRANTS program, funding vital organisations that change lives. In 2025, the Club has distributed more than $730,000 in community support, empowering over 20 local and regional charities, service groups, and not-for-profits that provide essential health, wellbeing, and social support to those in need.

Above and beyond, the Club contributed over $1.02 million in community donations and support, benefiting 130 organisations across more than 260 events.

This year’s ClubGRANTS program has touched a broad spectrum of causes — from youth wellbeing and disability services to aged care, mental health, and education. Among the 2025 recipients are organisations such as the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Stand Tall, Learning Links, Wounded Heroes Association, and CareFlight, each playing a vital role in enriching the lives of those they serve.

The cheque presentation was a celebration of generosity, teamwork, and shared purpose.

Representatives from dozens of charitable organisations stood shoulder to shoulder with Club directors and staff, united by a common mission: to make our community stronger, healthier, and more connected.

At Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club, community is more than a word — it’s at the heart of everything we do. Through ClubGRANTS, we are privileged to give back to those who give so much of themselves in service to others.

Every donation, every partnership, and every life touched reminds us that when we come together, we can achieve extraordinary things.

Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club proudly thanks all our 2025 ClubGRANTS recipients for their dedication and compassion — helping make a real difference, one life and one community at a time.

LOCAL BUSINESS AWARDS SUCCESS

TOGETHER WE DRIVE MEDICAL INNOVATION

Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club is proud to announce a generous donation of $70,000 to the Adam Gardiner Foundation, supporting the purchase of a groundbreaking medical device for the Westmead Amyloidosis Centre. In partnership with the Adam Gardiner Fund Inc, this contribution has enabled the Centre to secure the innovative SUDOSCAN, a stateof-the-art, non-invasive technology designed to detect and monitor small fiber neuropathy — a condition often missed by traditional testing methods.

SUDOSCAN offers a faster, safer, and more comfortable experience for patients, providing critical data in just three minutes with no fasting or preparation required. This new equipment eliminates the need for painful neuropathy testing and represents a major step forward in compassionate, patient-focused care. Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club is honoured to continue supporting the Adam Gardiner Fund Inc’s mission to improve diagnosis and treatment for those living with amyloidosis and related conditions.

The Fitness Edge has been awarded the Local Business Award for Outstanding Fitness Services 2025! This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to helping our members achieve their health and wellness goals in a supportive, motivating environment.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our amazing members from The Fitness Edge and Swim School for your votes, loyalty, and encouragement. Your belief in what we do continues to drive us every day, and this achievement simply wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

RAISED $10,000

PINK FOR A PURPOSE

Pink Week was a vibrant success, filled with community spirit, generosity, and plenty of pink! The Club turned pink in support of the McGrath Foundation, with themed fitness classes, raffles, and a stunning Pink Gala Lunch. Members and guests proudly wore pink to show their support, creating a heart-warming atmosphere throughout the week as the Club came together to make a meaningful difference for those affected by breast cancer.

We thank all our members and guests for their enthusiastic participation and generosity—together, we turned pink for a purpose and helped bring care and comfort to those who need it most.

BLUE JEANS, BIG HEARTS

The team proudly showed their support for Jeans for Genes Day, wearing denim to raise awareness and funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. Staff across all departments embraced the initiative with enthusiasm, creating a strong sense of unity and purpose while helping to fund vital research into childhood genetic diseases.

We are proud to play a part in supporting the important work of the Children’s Medical Research Institute and remains committed to making a positive difference in the community.

SEASON WRAP-UP 2025: A YEAR TO BE PROUD OF 2025 was one of Ryde Eastwood’s most successful seasons—on the field, off the field, and in our community.

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

We’re grateful for the continued support of Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club, Brydens Lawyers, and Gold Security Management, and for welcoming GWM Ryde and Kenny Constructions as new partners. Alongside our many minor sponsors, your backing fuels our success.

RON MASSEY CUP

Under David Gower, our side finished 2nd—the club’s best result since re-entering the competition—with 11 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses. Though we fell in the Preliminary Final, the season set a strong foundation for 2026.

SYDNEY SHIELD

Despite a record 50 players used due to injuries, Ross Mignacca’s squad showed remarkable resilience and fight each week.

A GRADE

Led by Josh Hyland, our A Grade battled injuries yet still reached the Preliminary Final, one win short of the Grand Final.

LOOKING AHEAD

With the commitment of players, coaches, volunteers, and sponsors, the Hawks are ready to learn, grow, and aim even higher in 2026.

Thank you to all members, families, and supporters for being part of the journey—the future is bright at Ryde Eastwood.

SENIORS CLUB

It is with sadness we note the passing of our long-standing patron, Dennis Petkovich. RIP Dennis — you will be sadly missed.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is pleasing to see the Ryde Eastwood Leagues Seniors Club growing strongly with many new members, thanks to the ongoing support of Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club

We meet upstairs in a function room twice monthly:

Social/Morning Tea: 1st Thursday, 11.00am–12.00pm (doors open 10.30am).

General Meeting: 3rd Thursday, 11.00am–12.00pm (doors open 10.30am). Morning tea is provided.

Recent highlights (Aug–Oct 2025): walks at The Bay and Coogee, lunches at Doyles and Epping Club (Father’s Day), bus trips to Dapto Railway Museum, Historic Wollombi, and a 3-day Bathurst/ Zig Zag Railway tour, plus engaging guest speakers.

Upcoming (Nov 2025–Jan 2026): walks, opal day outings, visits to Vaucluse House and Paddy’s Markets, a heritage train trip to Robertson (Cockatoo Run), our Christmas Lunch on 18 Dec, and the last morning tea of 2025 on 4 Dec. Activities resume with the first General Meeting on 15 Jan 2026

The August trip faced 3m swell and tough southwest winds, with skipper Robert calling it the most dismal day in four decades. Still, Michael won the heaviest bag (1.6kg, 4 fish) and Patrick’s 0.8kg Sergeant Baker took biggest fish. Only 17 fish (6.8kg) were caught.

Conditions improved on 7 September with sunshine and 1.5m swell. Michael briefly tangled with a large stingray (released), while Patrick claimed both prizes — an 8.1kg bag and the largest fish, a 1.25kg Morwong. Fourteen members landed 134 fish (58.1kg)

SOCIAL TRAVEL CLUB

This month we celebrated our 25th Anniversary with a special afternoon tea, attended by past and present members. The club was founded by former Director Keith Aggett, and it was wonderful to see life member Yvonne Steel, Club President Jim McClymont, and Director Malcolm Chapple join us. Although Patron John O’Brien was unable to attend due to injury, he kindly arranged raffle prizes, including a generous dinner voucher for the new Crystal Jade Restaurant.

The club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 2pm, featuring guest speakers on travelrelated topics organised by President Marilyn

The Fishing Club runs monthly trips on the first Sunday, departing 5am and returning around 2pm aboard a 57ft vessel with full facilities. Cost is $70 per person (bait not included).

For details, contact Sam Sundar 0413 000 303 or attend our monthly meeting on the third Thursday at 8pm (except December).

Trevor Fahey President, Fishing Club

We warmly welcome new members — don’t sit at home, come join us for fun, friendship, and travel. Membership is just $5 per year (must be a financial member of REL Club).

For more information, please contact Therese Sloane 0403 213 560 or Sharron Hill 0439 515 216

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

FISHING CLUB

Our 6 July outing saw 13 members fishing in 70m off Bondi in 1.5m swell and light breeze. A large Port Jackson shark caused some tangles, but Santos landed the heaviest bag (7kg) to win the R.E.L.C. red wine, while Bobby’s 1.25kg Teraglin was the day’s biggest fish. In total, 120 fish (49.4kg) were caught.

DARTS CLUB

Ryde-Eastwood Darts now run two competitions: Social Darts every Monday at 7pm ($5, open to all) and League matches on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm. For enquiries, contact Bob Zorzetto on 0421 696 433 Journal winners and updates will be shared quarterly.

A-Grade League Summary

After winning the 2024 Summer season, backing up was always going to be tough. Ryde-Eastwood finished 2nd out of 8 teams with 10 wins from 14 matches. The side upset the minor premiers in the preliminary final before a thrilling Grand Final against North Ryde RSL 1 at Burwood RSL. After six months of play, the result came down to the last dart of the last game — unfortunately, we fell just short, but it was a fantastic campaign.

If you’d like to get involved, join us for Monday Social Darts (all skill levels welcome) or the weekly League competition with teams across Sydney including Ryde, Gladesville, Balmain, Rozelle, Strathfield, Burwood, Hornsby, and Dundas.

If you’d like to join us, please contact Philip Cusack (philipcusack@hotmail. com) or Janine Orban (0413 042 315).

CAMERA CLUB

As 2025 draws to a close, our competitions are heating up. November is an open category, while members should also prepare entries for the Club Outing, Print, Digital, and Football Image Competitions, all to be judged at the Christmas Dinner & Awards Night on 15 December. This event is a chance to celebrate the year, enjoy great company, and view our best photos.

The Camera Club meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7.30pm, with a mix of competitions, presentations, and informal discussions. We also hold three outings each year for members to explore new places and techniques.

We warmly welcome new members — join us to improve your photography, make new friends, and share in the fun. Visit our galleries online at pbase.com/relccc

Don’t just live with pain

How physiotherapy can help

As we get older, many of us notice aches and pains creeping in. Maybe it’s an aching back in the morning, sore knees when climbing stairs, or stiff shoulders after even simple tasks. For some, these discomforts become a daily companion – but living with pain doesn’t

Physiotherapy isn’t just for people recovering from injury. It helps you understand the cause of your pain and provides strategies to make daily life easier. With the right guidance, you can improve mobility, build strength, and enjoy everyday activities again – whether that’s walking comfortably, pottering in the garden, or keeping up with the grandkids.

At Royal Rehab LifeWorks, located next to the Fitness Edge Gym at Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club, you’ll find Senior Physiotherapist Michael Phipps.

With over a decade of experience in hospitals, private practice, and community care, Michael has helped people manage everything from back and neck pain to joint problems and more complex conditions. He has also worked with professional sporting teams, giving him a strong foundation in tailoring treatment to each individual’s goals.

What makes Michael’s approach special is his focus on listening. Every person’s story and goals are different, and he believes treatment should reflect that.

Good treatment starts with listening and really understanding my clients,” Michael says. “My aim is to create a program that is truly personal.

If you’ve been living with ongoing pain, remember, you don’t have to simply accept it. With the right support, you can take steps to feel stronger, move more freely, and continue enjoying the things that matter most to you.

Explanatory notes regarding the First, Second and Third Ordinary Resolutions

1. These notes are to be read in conjunction with the proposed Ordinary Resolutions. The First, Second and Third Ordinary Resolutions are put to members for the purposes of section 10(6) and 10(6A) of the Registered Cubs Act 1976 (NSW) (Registered Clubs Act) which require members in General Meeting to approve certain benefits granted to specific members or classes of members not provided to other members of the Club.

2. The First Ordinary Resolution is to approve honoraria to be paid to Directors of the Club until the next Annual General Meeting.

3. The Second Ordinary Resolution is to approve benefits which have traditionally been provided in the Club but which are not equally available to all members.

4. The Third Ordinary Resolution is to approve an amount no greater than $160,000 for the expenditure by the Club in relation to duties performed in or about the Club by

directors and expenditure for directors to attend seminars, lectures, trade displays and other similar events including the Clubs NSW Annual General Meeting and to visit other clubs to enable the Club’s governing body to be kept abreast of current trends and developments which may have a significant bearing on the nature and way in which the Club conducts its business. This resolution also includes an option for directors to participate in organised intrastate, interstate or overseas trips to view and assess facilities. This option has been included in our Annual General Meeting Agenda for the last twenty years and has been used only twice. However prior approval is required by members to ensure the club complies with relevant legislation. Part (i) of the resolution to include reasonable expenses of partners of directors is to allow the availability of directors to attend meetings that are expected or required for their development and knowledge and are often held in distant locations.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL RESOLUTION

Notice is hereby given that at the Annual General Meeting of the Club, members will be asked to consider and, if thought fit, pass the following resolution which is proposed as a Special Resolution:

SPECIAL RESOLUTION

That the Constitution of Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club Ltd (Club) be amended by:

• Deleting rule 16 and inserting instead the following new rule 16: "16. At least 25% of all Full Members shall have the right to vote in the election of the Board."

• Adding in Rule 2 in appropriate alphabetical order the following new definition of "Registered Clubs Regulation": ""the Registered Clubs Regulation" means the Registered Clubs Regulation 2025 (NSW), as amended from time to time."

• In rule 52(a)(iii)(2) deleting "2015 (NSW)" after the words "Registered Clubs Regulation".

• In rule 67 replacing the words "schedule 2 of the Registered Clubs Regulation 2015 (NSW)" with the words "schedule 1 of the Registered Clubs Regulation", so that rule 67 will read as follows: "67. The relevant provisions of schedule 1 of the Registered Clubs Regulation apply in relation to each Director "

Explanatory notes regarding the Special Resolution Rule 16

1. Existing rule 16 provides that the number of Full Members (i.e. Ordinary and Life Members of the Club) having the right to vote in the election of the Board shall at all times exceed the number of Full Members who do not have the right to vote in the election of the Board.

2. Section 30(9) of the Registered Clubs Act and clause 29 of the Registered Clubs Regulation 2025 (NSW) (Registered Clubs Regulation) allow a minimum majority of 50% or 25% of all Full Members to be able vote in Board elections. Where a majority of less than 50% of Full Members can vote in Board elections, then the Constitution needs to be amended to state the relevant percentage and is subject to compliance with any directions given by the Secretary of Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade in relation to the rule. Currently, the Secretary of the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade has not made directions in relation to registered club constitutions which have a threshold of less than 50% of Full Members being eligible to vote in Board elections.

3. Many registered clubs have a lower threshold of 25% of Full Members able to vote in Board elections because of minimum periods of membership required for eligibility to vote in Board elections and because different rights attaching to various classes of membership.

4. Under rule 24(c) of the Club's Constitution, the Club has a qualification period of minimum period of 5 consecutive years of Full membership for members to vote in Board elections. It is appropriate to amend the threshold requirement for the number of Full Members able to vote in Board elections from a majority of all Full Members to 25% of all Full Members.

5. If an when the Secretary of the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade makes a direction for the purposes of section 30(9) of the Registered Clubs Act and the Registered Clubs Regulation, the Club would at that time need to comply with it.

Rules 2, 52(a)(iii)(2) and 67

6. The Registered Clubs Regulation 2015 (NSW) was recently repealed and replaced by the Registered Clubs Regulation 2025 (NSW).

7. If the Special Resolution is passed, the Club's Constitution will be amended to refer to the current Registered Clubs Regulation 2025 (NSW) instead of the repealed regulation. No substantive changes are otherwise made to the Constitution.

GENERAL NOTES REGARDING THE ORDINARY RESOLUTIONS AND SPECIAL RESOLUTION

1. Pursuant to rules 24 and 98 of the Club’s Constitution, only Life Members, financial Foundation Life Members and financial Club Members who have at least 5 years standing as Full Members may vote on the Ordinary Resolutions and Special Resolution.

2. To be passed, the Ordinary Resolutions must receive votes in their favour from not less than a simple majority of those members who, being entitled to do so, vote in person at the meeting.

WOMEN’S SEASON UPDATE

Club Thirroul has had a successful season.

At the August AGM, Anne Clarke was elected President, with Linda O’Neill, Di Cox, Mary Rogers, and Julie Neal joining the committee. Our new Ryde-Eastwood sponsored shirts have brought great results, including finals and runner-up finishes in the Region Fours and Pairs. Anne Clarke and Vicki Attenborough claimed both the Club Pairs and Singles titles. A well-attended Gala Day and growing Thursday bowls highlight our community spirit.

The 2025/26 Women’s Pennants season begins soon, with Club Thirroul proudly fielding teams in Divisions 2, 3, and 4.

MEN’S SEASON UPDATE

In late June, the Ryde-Eastwood Travelling Bowlers visited for the annual Ryde-Eastwood/Thirroul Shield Challenge. Eleven rinks played two spirited games before lunch, with Thirroul retaining the shield 18–4.

Our annual Presentation Night in mid-July was a fantastic celebration of our 2024/25 Men’s and Women’s Champions, Runners Up, and a strong Open Pennants season. It has quickly become a “must-attend” night of camaraderie, food, and fun.

The 2025/26 Men’s calendar is underway—Steve Knowles and John Waters claimed the Minor Pairs title 24–12 over Max Callaway and Lloyd Jones, while the Minor Singles final will see Henry Urbanski face Lloyd Jones.

Best of luck to Alan Sutherland and Max Callaway as they represent Club Thirroul in the NSW State Rookies event.

SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL LIFESAVERS

At Club Thirroul, we are proud to support the dedicated volunteers of Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club with a donation that has enabled the purchase of six new boards for the upcoming season — two for Dash Prizes and four for vital club operations.

Established in 1907, Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club plays a vital role in our community — from patrolling our beaches and running Nippers, to supporting Silver Salties, masters, and youth training programs, as well as surf sports, a high-performing IRB racing team, and a strong education program for future lifesavers.

We’re honoured to help this historic club continue its incredible work in promoting safety, wellbeing, and community spirit along our coastline.

Club Thirroul is proud to stand beside Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club — building stronger, safer, and more connected communities together.

ROLLING

WITH HEART – PINK RINK

In a heartfelt show of community spirit, Club Thirroul was awash with pink as staff and members came together to celebrate Pink Week in support of the McGrath Foundation. The event, aptly named Pink on the Rink, saw the club transformed into a sea of pink.

Laughter, friendly competition, and heartfelt moments filled the day as players and supporters rallied behind the cause. From pink bowls to pink outfits and plenty of pink smiles, the atmosphere was one of unity and hope. Pink on the Rink not only highlighted the fun and fellowship that define Club Thirroul but also proved that when the community comes together, every bowl rolled makes a difference
