Art Comes Alive: A Creative Parent Engagement Experience

Self-Expression

Our students were captivated as they explored colors, textures, and ideas under the guidance of a passionate parent artist, gaining not only creative skills but also the confidence to take risks and embrace self-expression. We extend heartfelt gratitude to our parent volunteers for sharing their time, talent, and enthusiasm Their contribution made this experience memorable and left a lasting impression on our learners reminding them that creativity thrives when nurtured by a strong, supportive community

We were delighted to welcome one of our talented parents to campus for an inspiring art workshop as part of our parent engagement initiative This special session gave our young learners a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in creativity, experiment with artistic techniques, and express their individuality through hands-on activities More than just an art lesson, the workshop became a celebration of imagination and collaboration, strengthening the bond between home and school while showcasing the invaluable role parents play in enriching our learners’ experiences

Leaf Brushes and Primary Hues: A Sensory Art Adventure

By the end of the session, creativity, experimentation, and exploration had combined to produce truly revolutionary art This activity not only nurtured artistic expression but also encouraged tactile learning, curiosity, and joy, showing our students that the tools, the artist, and the process can be as inspiring as the final masterpiece

Who says paintbrushes must be made of bristles? We decided to “nature-it-up ” by collecting dry and fallen leaves to create imaginative, handmade brushes Our young artists then used these natural tools to bring the primary colors red, blue, and yellow to life on the easel sheets

Beyond painting, the activity became a rich sensory and vocabulary experience, introducing words like soft, rough, and sound-y. One enthusiastic learner even shared that she wanted to use these leaf brushes every day because she loved the way they felt.

Varalakshmi Pooja Celebrations

Varalakshmi Pooja was celebrated with devotion and joy at K5 campus, uniting learners, staff, and families in a vibrant spirit of tradition. The campus was adorned with beautiful decorations, floral arrangements, and lamps, creating a festive and reverent atmosphere. Parents joined the celebrations, offering prayers and participating in the cultural experience alongside the students.

SharedValues

The event fostered a sense of community and togetherness across all campuses, strengthening bonds between learners, families, and staff. It created cherished memories for everyone present, highlighting the shared cultural values that bring our school community together.

Little Explorers Journey Through Time at the GD Car Museum

Our EY 2 and 3 learners had an exciting day at the GD Car Museum in Coimbatore, where they explored a captivating collection of vintage and classic cars

The visit sparked curiosity, inspired lively conversations, and offered the children a hands-on glimpse into the evolution of automobiles over the years EducationalOuting

The experience not only deepened their understanding of history and technology but also encouraged observation, questioning, and imaginative thinking.

It was a memorable outing that combined learning, exploration, and fun, leaving our young explorers inspired and eager to discover more about the world around them.

Parent-WISE Sessions: Unpacking the POI

PrimaryYears

At our IB PYP “Unpacking the Programme of Inquiry” session, we explored what it means to be a true learning community. In this inclusive environment, students, families, and educators share a common understanding of the purpose and value of high-quality learning and well-being. Parents are our engaged partners who model the IB Learner Profile attributes and reinforce them as part of our school culture.

ProgrammeofInquiry

Together, we: Created POI connection webs to show how learning transfers across subjects

Used Diamond Ranking to reflect on Learner Profile traits and the values that shape our learners. Co-planned a unit under a transdisciplinary theme, examining the central ideas that drive authentic inquiry.

This session highlighted that in a PYP school, learning is a partnership where parents and educators collaborate to place students at the heart of meaningful, transdisciplinary learning.

Celebrating Grandparents Day & Janmashtami

At the K5 campus, Grandparents Day was celebrated alongside Janmashtami with warmth, tradition, and joy. The event beautifully honored the love and wisdom of grandparents while giving children cherished moments to connect with them.

From listening to heartwarming childhood stories to preparing simple traditional offerings, the day was filled with nostalgia and bonding

Togetherness

Little Krishnas and Radhas had fun churning butter, while puppet shows brought Krishna’ s tales to life in a way that captivated both young and old. Laughter echoed through engaging activities that fostered togetherness, making the celebration a blend of cultural richness and family love.

The vibrant atmosphere not only strengthened family ties but also created lasting memories for children and their grandparents

Curriculum Mapping: Building Strong Foundations

The K5 campus hosted an insightful parent session on Curriculum Mapping for the Early Years, highlighting how skills and developmental goals are thoughtfully interlinked across different age groups. The session emphasized that every stage of a child’ s journey is intentionally designed to build upon the previous one, creating a strong foundation for future learning

Parents were shown how children’ s learning goes beyond textbooks, with a focus on hands-on, experiential activities such as art, storytelling, exploration, and problem-solving.

SkillProgression

These activities not only nurture creativity and critical thinking but also encourage collaboration, communication, and confidence.

By mapping the curriculum, educators ensure that learning remains active, purposeful, and meaningful, enabling children to develop holistically in academic, social, and emotional areas. The session also reassured parents that their children are engaged in experiences that are both joyful and impactful, setting the stage for lifelong learning and curiosity

Celebrating International Dog Day

Ruh got a whole lot brighter and cuter as we celebrated International Dog Day with two very special furry guests, Rocco and Raldo, from the home of our correspondent, Dr Manimekalai Mohan

The playful duo trotted into campus with wagging tails, instantly melting hearts and filling the air with excitement. Everywhere they went, they spread joy, warmth, and a whole lot of puppy love

FurryFriends

Our little Ruh’lers were absolutely thrilled to welcome their new fourlegged friends. They couldn’t stop smiling, cuddling, and even bursting into songs for Rocco and Raldo From sloppy kisses to playful paws, every moment was filled with giggles, gentle hugs, and endless “ aww ” s

The celebration wasn ’t just about fun, it was also about teaching children empathy, kindness, and the joy of bonding with animals It was a day that perfectly blended happiness and learning, leaving behind memories as sweet and special as our furry guests.

Creative Parent Engagement through Pottery

Our Parent Engagement Programme took a wonderfully creative turn with an interactive pottery session

Guided by talented visiting parents, our little Ruh’lers rolled up their sleeves and explored the magic of clay, eagerly shaping, molding, and experimenting with their own creations.

CommunitySpirit

The session highlighted how art can be both calming and empowering, giving children a sense of accomplishment as they proudly showcased their pottery pieces

What made the day even more meaningful was the collaboration between parents and the school. The activity beautifully demonstrated the power of shared experiences in enriching a child’ s learning journey and strengthening the bond between home and school

Roots of Ruh

CommunitySpirit

With little hands soiling the earth and watering the plant, they understood that this was more than just an activity; it was the start of a lifelong connection with nature

We were honored to have Thiru Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Corporation Commissioner, a true champion of civic responsibility, as our chief guest. His presence and encouragement helped us inaugurate this movement towards environmental stewardship and inspired us to take ownership of our role in nurturing the planet

This first Plantation Drive was the beginning of a revolution. Instead of only receiving, we choose to give

At Ruh, we have launched a new tradition celebrating birthdays in a way that creates a lasting impact August 29th 2025, marked our very first Plantation Drive, where learners whose birthdays fall in the months of May, June, July and August planted saplings to mark their special day.

The initiative aims to provide learners with an opportunity to celebrate meaningfully while nurturing a sense of environmental responsibility. As learners grow, they will see their trees flourish alongside them, becoming symbols of strength, resilience, and legacy.
