ou'veprobablyalready seenthem.Greenwooden boxesbothonsiteandat ourheadquarterswiththe textSUGGESTIONBOXabove them.Theseboxeswerelaunched onMarch3,2022.Threemonths afterthelaunch,wehaveareview by AngeladeAbreu,Human ResourcesSuperintendent. She startsfromthebeginning. AccordingtoAngela,the SuggestionBoxesprovidealow thresholdforemployeestobe heard.Notallemployeesare proficientinverbalandwritten communication,andafeware afraidtosubmitanofficial grievanceoridea.Theboxes lowerthatthresholdand employeesmaydeposittheir comments,suggestions,and complaintswithorwithout statingtheirnames."Theboxes donotreplacethecurrent GrievancesandComplaints procedures",sheexplains,"but areadditionaltoolsthathave beenmadeavailableto employeessite-wideatvarious locations." IAMGOLDpartneredwithKorn FerrytoconductaDiversity, Equity,andInclusion(DEI) Surveytogainan understandingofhowemployees perceiveDiversity,Equity,and InclusionatIAMGOLD.Furthermore toidentifyacorrelationbetween EmployeeEngagementandoverall perceptionofDEI. Theparticipationof427RGM employeesinlastyear’sDEIsurvey hasgreatlyhelpedinformour planningandstrengthenedour commitmenttobuildingan IAMGOLDweareallproudtowork andwherewefeelvaluedand appreciatedforourcontributions andhaveopportunitiestogrowour careers.TheHumanResources teamhosted7virtualsessionsin EnglishandDutchlastJunetoshare the2021DEISurveyresultswith employees. Fromtheinformationgathered,we foundthefollowingkeystrengths andopportunities. Thesurveyrevealedthatthereisa strongcommitmenttosupporting Rosebel’ssuccess.However,thereis asenseattheworkinglevelthat employeesarenotbeingheardor opinionsrespected.Resultsindicate thatleadershiphasaninflatedsense ofthelevelofengagementand inclusionandwillneedtoresettheir perspectiveandengageinsome seriousworkinconjunctionwiththe rightHRleadershiptoeffectthe changesthatwillimprovetheresults andprofitabilityofRosebel. Strongerlocalandfemale representationwillsupport improvements. Onapositivenote,manyemployees ratedthelevelofmentoringinthe organizationashighandfeltthat theyhadsponsorshipinthe organization.Formaltrainingto supportthiswouldbewell-received. Wehavecomeupwithaplanthatis tailoredforRosebel,basedonwhat willworkbestforusandthepriority ofourneeds: •Promotecareerand developmentand opportunities byclear promotioncriteriaand guidelinesandmakethese accessibletohourlyemployees •Ensure eachvoicecanbeheard bytheestablishmentofan InvestigationandPrevention CommitteeandSuggestion Boxes. •Empoweringemployeesand leadershipbyenhancingtheir awarenessofDEIbenefits.
