IN THIS ISSUE

Dear Members and Guests,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the summer season. We have some exciting updates and announcements to share with you this month!

First, I’m thrilled to let you know that on Saturday, August 10, all our fairways will be open! It's the perfect opportunity to come out and enjoy a round of golf on our beautiful course. We can't wait to see you out there.

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for October 24, 25, and 26 for our annual Men's Member-Guest Tournament. This event is always a fantastic opportunity for camaraderie and competition, and we hope you can join us. Please save the date and keep an eye out for more details.

In other news, August marks the beginning of our interclub matches. Let’s come together and support our team as they compete with neighboring clubs. This year we will be hosting the final match on August 25th, come out and cheer your RCC team to victory! Your cheers and encouragement mean the world to us.

For those interested in Pickleball, join us every Tuesday! Our Pro, Keri Keen, is offering clinics that are perfect whether you're new to the game or looking to improve your skills. It's a great way to stay active and have fun.

I also want to personally thank our amazing maintenance crew and cart barn staff. This summer has been incredibly hot, and their dedication and hard work have kept everything in top shape despite the heat. We truly appreciate all they do.

Lastly, our recent wedding expo was a wonderful success, showcasing a fantastic array of top vendors. We're excited about the upcoming wedding season and look forward to hosting many beautiful celebrations.

Thank you for being a part of the Rockledge Country Club family. Stay cool, and I hope to see y soon!

All My Best,

Course Update:

We are very excited to open the new fairways on August 10th. They are not completely grown in so we will be requiring carts to remain in the rough on these holes. As the summer rolls on, these fairways will continue to spread and cover any bare areas remaining.

We are thinning out many of the mature oak trees on the property in anticipation of possible storms later on. The thick and dense canopies tend to catch a lot of wind, and if the ground is saturated by rainfall the trees easily topple over. Hopefully, we can mitigate some of this. A herbicide application was recently made to control weeds. It appears to be working well as much of the goosegrass has been eliminated.

A greens aerification will be done on Monday, the 5th of August. The machine will leave very few holes as it simply blows air into the green profile and the air expands. We did this once before and it worked out very well as a supplemental aerification. Our final regular aerification will take place in late September.

We hope you enjoy the new fairways and the return to 18 holes of golf. Come on out and enjoy!

Yours in Turf

We are very excited about the reopening of our fairways this month, thank you all for your patience during this exciting time of course improvements.

In July we kicked off a series of Wednesday Ladies clinics, the response was overwhelming with average attendance of 50 Ladies per clinic. With the success and interest in Ladies golf, this Fall we will be kicking off two new Ladies programs to participate in. The first is a partnership with Women on Course to be their host facility on the Space Coast for their Lady golf events, this program kicks off on Sunday August 4th with a Clinic and social event following. You can visit their website at womenoncourse.com to gather information and see a list of all the exciting events coming up this fall.

We also will be launching a Ladies Operation 36 golfer development program that will kick off in September and wrap up before Thanksgiving. The program features 8 group lessons and 4 on course playing events, where golfers attempt to shoot the score of 36 for 9 holes, based on the yardage level that they are currently at, which starts at 25 yards from the green and gets longer as you advance. For our Junior players, we also will have an Operation 36 program running over the same time period. There are flyers around the golf shop, online, or simply see a member of the golf shop staff for further information, signup is now live and underway.

In the golf shop, this fall we will be receiving another round of Footjoy Apparel for Men, along with the addition of Nike to our golf shop for first time. If you watch golf on TV, you will see Nike apparel on many of the top players including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Nelly Korda, and many others. We also will be bringing in a Ladies line of Nike, along with a very stylish and affordable line of waterproof golf shoes.

This fall we will also have Titleist, Taylormade, Srixon, and Callaway all on property for fitting and demo days, as those are scheduled you will start to see postings around the clubhouse for signup information. Don’t forget, we also take trade-ins on older equipment that you can use to apply to the purchase of new equipment or for golf shop merchandise credit.

As the course reopens to our full 18 Holes and we begin to welcome back our winter guests and enter into our event season soon, please make sure and doublecheck your tee times in advance and make any necessary changes to the player counts, both with adding or subtracting from your player counts. Also, in each locker room you will now find an upcoming event schedule, please refer to this schedule so you will have a heads up on any events taking place that may alter a typical starting time.

We are also pleased to announce that the golf course and driving range will be opening on Monday’s beginning Labor Day September 2, 2024. The Monday opening will be seasonal and continue through the busy into next Spring. We will also be hosting a Labor Day 2-Person Scramble, beginning with a 8:00AM Shotgun Start, there will be much more information on this event coming soon. Thanks for your continued support of Rockledge Country Club
