ear Members,
Well, the old adage “drinking from a fire hose” has certainly applied to my first two months here leading the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce! From meeting with as many businesses as possible and visiting with civic leaders, to developing new programming and working with the team to chart our course for the next year, there has been no shortage of work to be done on behalf of you, our Chamber
in the organization is greatly appreciated. I’ve had the opportunity to connect with and learn the stories of members, and I look forward to continuing to meet members in the months ahead. Finally, thank you to the team here at the Chamber. Since my first day, this team has welcomed me to the organization and their

As we progress, I look forward to continuing this work with our Board in serving Chamber members. I want to thank our Rochester-area elected officials and the administration teams from the City and County for welcoming me. I appreciate their collaboration in developing open communication with the Chamber and providing resources to the area business community. Continuing a positive working relationship with the public sector is key to
outstanding. The Chamber team will be hard at business resources, advocacy and engagement opportunities, including new opportunities for members. As I continue to familiarize myself with this community, I look forward to connecting with our small business and industry members to learn how we can partner to develop the Rochester business community in the months ahead. The past year has been challenging and there will be obstacles ahead, but through collaboration, inclusivity, and positivity, we will work together to set our community on a path forward to recovery. Building New Connections with BDX On March 16, the Chamber hosted its first event in a new series called Business Development Exchange (BDX), which highlights members and brings an exchange of best practices and industry expert insight to Chamber members on a range of topics impacting regional businesses. The March 16 event focused on how businesses have adapted to change in the past years, the lessons they’ve learned, and how they will apply them going forward. Ama La Vita was represented by Ginger and Kennis Knapp, Bleu Duck Kitchen by Jennifer Becker, Pepin Manufacturing by Jonathan Solberg, and Tulip Tree Studios by Whitney West. Updates from the Chamber Member Community
City of Rochester
The City of Rochester has announced that Ryan Yetzer, current Principal Planner, has been selected for the role of Interim Deputy Director of Development and Construction Services for the Community Development Department. This new role is responsible for the overall administration, management, and delivery of integrated development and construction services. The Deputy will provide leadership for the planning, plan review, permitting, and building inspection services for the City of Rochester. The focus will continue to be to achieve the City’s goal to become America’s Most Innovative Development Services team. Yetzer will begin in the role on April 8, 2021.
Clifton Larson Allen Alli Lake relocated to our Rochester office in January 2021. She joined the CLA family in our Owatonna office as an Associate in June 2019 after completing an internship the year prior. Alli is originally from Gettysburg, SD and graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She is gaining experience on our Nonprofit audit team and is an ambassador for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion within our firm. Tom Tollefson joined the CLA family in January 2021 as a BizOps Controller after many years working as a CFO/Controller in the construction and manufacturing industries. Tom has an MBA from St. Thomas University and is excited to create opportunities for clients at CLA. He lives in Northfield with his wife Linda and Eskie puppy, Lexi, and they enjoy biking, kayaking, and walking in their spare time.
Laura Gearhart joined the CLA family in February 2021 as a Service Processing Coordinator. She handles front desk reception, day-to-day office management, and other administrative duties related to processing tax returns and other documents. Laura lives in Kasson with her partner, Chad, and their two daughters and loves to fish.
Todd Churchill joined the CLA family in February 2021 as a BizOps Chief Financial Officer. Todd has deep experience growing companies through solving problems in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, finance, and business systems. He started his career as an accountant at CLA’s predecessor over 25 years ago and has spent the last 19 years independently providing outsourced CFO services to private organizations and startups. He lives on a small ranch outside of Cannon Falls and raises horses and grass-fed cattle.
HGA HGA is pleased to announce Kim Jensen, AIA, LEED AP, has been named Office Director. She will oversee daily administrative and operational functions of the 22-person office in downtown Rochester. Jensen will continue in her current role as Senior Project Manager and Associate Vice President directing team processes and client relations since 2005. She assumes administrative leadership previously held by Hal Henderson, AIA, who served as Office Director for 25 years and will continue as Principal and Vice President working with clients and leading projects throughout Rochester and the region. Jensen has more than 25 years of experience specializing in healthcare planning, commercial design, and sustainability for leading clients, including Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center.

Newsreels Continued Olmsted County Olmsted County is pleased to announce the new Deputy Administrator overseeing the county’s Health, Housing, and Human Services (HHH) division is Travis Gransee. Gransee’s experience at the county dates back to 2004. Gransee has worked within Dodge-Fillmore-Olmsted (DFO) Community Corrections as a probation officer, senior probation officer, supervisor of the juvenile probation team, and director of DFO Community Corrections (since 2014). In this new role, Gransee will oversee Adult & Family Services, Child & Family Services, DFO Community Corrections, Family Support & Assistance, Housing and Redevelopment Authority, and HHH Administration and Veterans Services. “As director of DFO Community Corrections, Travis earned the respect and trust of commissioners, other elected officials, the community, and Olmsted County employees,” said Administrator, Heidi Welsch. “I am confident Travis will continue to lead HHH in a way that integrates services for clients and continually re-evaluates programs for best outcomes.”
Rochester Downtown Alliance The Rochester Downtown Alliance is excited to announce the hiring of Kanika Couchene as the Director of Events & Strategic Partnerships. Couchene comes to the RDA from a manufacturing company where she served as the Global Executive Assistance and Event Planner. Her previous experience includes being a continuing medical education event specialist and HR program coordinator at Mayo Clinic, and program director at The Mentor Network - REM River Bluffs Region. Couchene received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minor in Communications from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.
Rochester Public Library On March 11th, the Rochester Public Library launched the Library Express service, which gives community members the chance to browse and borrow materials or use the internet for up to 30 minutes each day. While the two walkup windows continue to operate, the curbside pickup in the Civic Center ramp is ending to provide assistance at the service desks. According to Library Director, Audrey Betcher, “Right now we’re focusing on the most requested, safest activities, including browsing, borrowing, and using the internet.” The Library Express will be offered between 10am-6pm, Thursday-Sunday.
Schmidt Goodman Jenny Evans is Schmidt Goodman’s newest team member who comes to us all the way from Blooming Prairie, MN! Jenny’s passion for sales and customizing items to suit her client’s needs began as a bridal consultant, where she also assisted in selecting new store inventory at markets in Chicago and Dallas. Her caring nature then took her in a new direction in the healthcare field, working in the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Mayo Clinic for several years, where she wore many hats and established a big heart for the participants and staff and was deemed the ‘go-to’ gal for organizing large events. Looking forward to a new opportunity and a return to sales, she’s excited to get to know her new customers and is eager to help solve their furniture needs and bring inspiring ideas to the table. When Jenny has free time, she is active with sports and spends time with her dog, Duke, husband, and their adorable daughter.
