FOCUS Newest fundraising campaign focuses on keeping care close to home IN THIS ISSUE Message from the Board Corporate Partner Highlights Cause for the Community Rocks for Ridgeview Recap Upcoming and Community Events SPRING | 2022

There’s never been a better time to be involved with Ridgeview Foundation. We are thrilled to launch the Cause for the Community campaign, a multi-year initiative to enhance the many areas within Ridgeview. Phase one of the campaign will raise money to enhance clinical education and advanced monitoring systems (telemetry).

From the Board

Dr. Michael Smith

Giving back to the community has been a priority of mine for years. My family enjoys volunteering with Ridgeview, from working at the annual Golf & Taste Celebration, organizing the therapy dog program or serving on the Ridgeview Foundation Board of Directors. These shared experiences not only help us grow but it helps our community prosper.

When patients are admitted to Ridgeview with a common medical condition like chest pain, stroke/neurology, respiratory illness or congestive heart failure, they may require an advanced monitored bed (telemetry). When Ridgeview doesn’t have enough monitored beds available, they must send these patients to other health systems, which can be more than 30 miles away. No one wants to travel far for health care. The Cause for the Community campaign is raising money to add an additional 24 beds with advanced monitoring technology so patients, and their families, can stay in our community to receive exceptional care.

I recently learned just how valuable clinical education is to a health care system such as ours. Nursing graduates often select their future employer based on the additional training available. Ridgeview currently offers a Clinical Education Program and simulation training to help new graduates transition into bedside care. But, we could offer so much more. That’s where the Cause for the Community campaign comes in. We’re raising money to expand the Clinical Education Program and build Ridgeview’s Simulation Program to accommodate more technology so we can attract and retain nurses.

This is where philanthropy comes in. Western OB/GYN is committed to giving back to causes that are beneficial to the community, so it increases the health, wellness and viability of our entire region. It also builds camaraderie among the Western OB/GYN team.

” “

“It’s very important to be able to offer a wide range of services right where our patients live, because increasing access to health care and reducing barriers to care is beneficial to everyone in the community,” said Heidi Edsill, M.D. “There are so many ways that people can have barriers in place. If you live in a smaller community, it’s much more difficult to travel 45 minutes to get to an appointment or come in for follow up care. Getting time off work and the logistics of travel add to the complexity.

Western OB/GYN, A Division of Ridgeview Clinics, understands the importance of being active in the community. That’s why the team is proud to be a Premier Sponsor of Ridgeview Foundation.

Having Western OB/GYN and Ridgeview teams in each of these communities takes away a little bit of that challenge.”

Western OB/GYN is a long-established, independent practice of board-certified obstetrics and gynecology physicians, certified nurse midwives, certified family nurse practitioner and a certified physician assistant. As a team, they provide an array of services for women in all stages of life. Just like Ridgeview, they serve patients throughout the southwest metro.

“It’s such a good feeling to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We want to live here and stay here and be healthy. We want the community to be a good place for our kids to grow,” said Boudin. “Giving back to Ridgeview Foundation is a natural part of what we do. We want to be part of what makes this such a successful and wonderful community.”

“It’s a really exciting time to work here and be part of this community,” said Rebecca Boudin, M.D. “Our community is growing, and so is Western OB/GYN.”

No one living in this community should be sent away to another health system to receive health care. They deserve to be cared for close to home at Ridgeview.

Ridgeview Foundation embarks on multi-year fundraising campaign

Provide faster, smarter, safer care Transform the patient, caregiver and provider experience213 Prepare our community for growth

We’ve learned a lot over the past few years. Our collective response to COVID-19 proved we are resilient, compassionate and capable of more than we ever imagined. Our health care team worked together to provide comprehensive care for our community, and in the process, we grew even stronger as a Ridgeview family. As we look ahead to our 60th anniversary in 2023, we have a lot to celebrate. Ridgeview is now at a transformational point in history. We must continue to enhance our skills and provide additional services, programs and cutting-edge technology to ensure the 300,000 residents in our seven-county service area don’t have to travel far for exceptional health care. That’s why we are embarking on one of the largest campaigns in Ridgeview Foundation history—the Cause for the Community campaign. The Cause for the Community campaign will put Ridgeview at the forefront of modern health care by focusing on three crucial areas:

Cause for the Community campaign will enhance virtually every area within our health care system

By investing in these priorities, we can continue to attract and retain talented physicians and clinical professionals to our community, while keeping high-quality, best-in-class health care close to home. causeforthecommunity.org

Phase 1:

Advanced Monitoring Systems (Telemetry): When there isn’t an advanced monitored bed available at Ridgeview, we must send patients to other health care systems that are nearly 30 miles away. By expanding our telemetry capabilities and adding more technology, we can care for a higher volume of patients with more complex needs. This allows us to keep patient care close to home.

The first phase of this multi-year campaign will focus on the following initiatives:

Clinical Education: This is the backbone of a high-quality health care system, and it is an important recruitment and retention tool. We have identified multiple opportunities to expand our clinical education to provide advanced training and simulation technology. This ensures our clinical staff remain prepared for the complex care needs of our community.

Many of us devote our time, talents and contributions because it’s the right thing to do, and we want to make an impact. Sharing our generosity also provides us with an immense feeling of satisfaction.

Sometimes “thank you” doesn’t convey how much we truly care. Financial support of a cause enables you to make a powerful impact, and volunteering allows you to see your impact firsthand.

Factors That Make Giving Feel Good

4. Create an everlasting impact. You have an opportunity to leave your mark on the world. Planning a future gift—such as one in your will or trust—helps ensure that generations to come will benefit. It can also help protect the causes you love beyond your lifetime.

2. Reflect our values. We all want to be part of a community that shares our values. Showing support, either through gifts of time or finances, can extend your personal connection and give you a sense of belonging. It also reinforces your own belief system.

3. Serve as inspiration. Your generosity may inspire others to follow your lead. Engage loved ones in discussion about your passions, and encourage them to join you in volunteering or raising funds.

5. Recognize individuals. We are often inspired to give back by people who have touched our lives. Tribute gifts are a way to honor those individuals.
